I'm a licensed architect and have been specifying and ordering appliances for over 30 years. My…read moreexperience with House of Appliances has been the worst I've had in my entire career. I did everything possible to avoid issues -- I confirmed timelines with my salesperson, Drew, to avoid a price increase and followed up with a call. Despite that, my quote increased. After some back and forth, they did honor the original price -- but the problems didn't stop there. Drew failed to place the order, even though I had submitted it and paid in full. That delay caused major availability issues, forcing me to purchase a more expensive microwave just to stay on schedule. When I needed to change one appliance, it took weeks just to get an updated proposal. I shared my install deadline well in advance, because I had out-of-town carpenters coming specifically to install the appliance panels. House of Appliances never got back to me in time, and I missed the window. Now I have to pay extra to get the panels installed later. To make matters worse, the refrigerator drawers and wine refrigerator arrived damaged. I was told they could be repaired -- but I paid full price, and I will not accept repaired appliances. These units are required for my Certificate of Occupancy and panel installation, and I still have no resolution. I even contacted a manager and have yet to receive any help. This kind of service is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, when we explained the purpose of our visit, the salesperson, Drew Meltz, informed us that we could not purchase appliances in Florida and have them shipped to Vermont. Right. We asked if we could still browse their showroom. Drew immediately welcomed us and then proceeded to spend nearly an hour going over all the appliances we were looking for: ovens, dishwasher, refrigerator, etc. All the while knowing there would be no eventual sale. Drew Meltz is the best appliance salesperson we have ever met, hands down. He is supremely knowledgeable about his products, patient, cordial and a real pleasure to work with. And their store, is superior to any of the many other stores we have been visiting. Five enthusiastic stars for Drew and the House of Appliances. Steve and Evelene Lakis

***A Stunning Showroom, But an Unwelcoming Experience***…read more This tile store has one of the more contemporary and stylish selections we've found in South Florida, and the showroom is merchandised well and easy to browse. We were looking forward to this visit, but unfortunately, the experience didn't match the quality of their products. We first checked their Yelp page to confirm their hours, as we were driving 45 minutes to get there. Nothing indicated that visits were by appointment only, which we found out upon arrival from a sign on the door. I called the number listed on the sign, and a kind receptionist allowed us inside to take a look around. While we were browsing, however, we were confronted by a staff member who made it clear--without any courtesy--that we were not welcome without an appointment. When I explained that the nice receptionist allowed us in, she said, "That was her." I then explained that we had relied on their Yelp listing and weren't aware of the policy. She dismissed me with a laugh (no, I'm not kidding) and said, "Nobody uses Yelp." When I pointed out that we had used it, her response was "OUR customers don't use that. I don't even know what it is." We understand and work with appointment-based showrooms fairly often, and we would have gladly scheduled one if it had been offered. Instead, by dismissing potential customers, especially those who made an effort to visit, we were left with an unfortunate lasting impression. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR MOST: If you're looking for a great selection, this store has it--but expect a chilly reception if you don't fit their idea of the "right" customer. There are several other places in this upscale category in South Florida that are just as good, and they understand customer service.

July 13, 2023, flooring for a secondary bathroom was installed, it appeared inconsistent. It looked like it had come from two different boxes or runs. I reached out to Mike Hummel via email and explained the issue and I attached pictures. His first response was "Natural stone variation where the installer should not have installed. We could have tried to go back to the factory for a closer match. 2nd if there is water backed up in the mud bed from the possibility of a drainage issue." He followed up that email with "I went to the jobsite today . Kirsten happened to be there and told me after install it had changed tones. Unfortunately, this is a reaction from the moisture of the setting materials and the stone. It may dry out but I could not say when that may happen." We were quite clear how and where the material would be used. We had no preference for material. The material could have been anything. I'm frustrated because it seems there isn't really a clear answer. He also suggested we picked the "wrong material" for a shower floor. He was the one that suggested the material in the first place. I wish I had gone someplace else. Now I'm stuck with a shower floor that looks horrible.

Plenty of parking, and we entered through the garden center, which we always enjoy browsing. The staff was welcoming and quick to offer help, which we appreciated since we weren't sure where to find everything on our list. Once we found what we needed, we wandered a bit and checked out other aisles for inspiration. I've noticed Lowe's usually has more employees available to assist compared to similar big box stores, which is a plus. The store was clean, organized, and easy to navigate, but the garden center stood out. One employee was watering the plants in the sun and mentioned they looked thirsty. A small moment, but nice to see that level of care. We usually prefer to shop local for plants, but we did pick up some fertilizer here. The cashier in the garden center (wish I caught her name!) was very friendly and made checkout easy. We've also come here for paint and other home items, and service has been consistently solid. I'd come back for anything I can't find at a local nursery or hardware store.

But the GF ordered a curbside pickup for some weekend projects, so here I am. Unfortunately their curbside is no better. - After checking in and waiting at the designated spot for 10 minutes, I was told to drive down to lumber where everything was ready for my pickup. - Then of course they were not ready so I waited again (only 6 minutes this time) to be brought out an incomplete order. Save your sanity, go to Home Depot, this place sucks.
