Soooo good! Bread is a must go when in Durango. Locals love it! What you need to know when visiting the area is there are two locations which are kind of the same but different. There is a location on eighth street, downtown durango which has indoor and outdoor seating with a more varied menu (deli/bakery). The location on the north side of town only has outdoor seating, bench and picnic table. They both have fabulous bread, pastries and coffee. The north side location is (bread/bakery) more grab and go. They have sandwiches already wrapped which is great when hiking and biking in the area. Quick and delicious. read more

I came here both mornings while on a quick trip to Durango as I loved the vibes inside! I found the pain au chocolat to be disappointing/old-tasting and would not get again. I also got the toast with avocado, egg, prosciutto, and microgreens, which was tasty, but nothing incredible. The black drip coffee was good, although my iced latte was super milk-heavy. Staff was very friendly and there are plenty of seating options and cool things to look at. I'd come back again next time I am in town just to hang and enjoy the vibes, and maybe pick up a loaf. read more

This place was very chill. Breakfast options offered waffles (sweet) and a cheese/ham croissant (savory). Plenty of seating available, you are asked to clear your own table afterwards. There are free books to read and newspapers. There is bread for purchase and typical cafe drinks. One stall bathroom available to the right of the counter. Nobody actually cooks or bakes anymore!!. I feel sorry for folks who think toasting is the same as warming in a microwave. It is not. When I ask for an egg OE & runny and I get said egg micro-poached, it is not the same. This little cafe is costumed in traditional bohemian garb. Counter girl donning a bandana do rag and nose ring. Locally owned, two locations: one is the actual bakery on the north end. This location is the cafe right off Main Ave. We love the avocado toast, spicy chai lattes, and freshly baked cookies. My family and I were recently on vacation in Durango from California. We had a wonderful time during our stay here but more importantly we were treated to your town's wonderful hospitality. We walked in to this wonderful bake shop at closing time. Chairs were up and the floor was mopped. We asked if we could still shop and were greeted by two gentlemen that enthusiastically treated us as if we were long time customers in for a morning coffee at opening. We selected some bread and were told enjoy it, its on us. We were surprised by the bakers response but we insisted we pay for the loaf we selected. He would only accept a handshake as payment. During these difficult times we sometimes forget the struggles small businesses face making a living. My family and I enjoyed the loaf with some local butter however more importantly than us enjoying this with our meal is the lasting impression of the time we spent here on vacation and the generosity from a humble baker that was more interested in a family enjoying his hardwork than a profit from a loaf of bread. Travelers beware!! Do not stop here for a quick bite and friendly service. We stopped in Durango for lunch, (food was tasteless) but that wasn't the bad part, it's like a gang mentality. I ordered 2 sandwiches and left a 20 percent tip (like I always do). When we were finished we used the rest room, while I was in rest room the employee asked my husband to clean the table. I came out and was like really, we did everything except make the sandwiches. Lol. I said I left a tip omg it wasn't like we even left a mess. Then all of a sudden several people came out of no where yelling at us. It was like the knee we were not from the area....I think it was homeless people who they feed yelling at us. Whenever passing through Durango, I try to stop here for a baguette or loaf of sourdough or speciality loaf (there's another location north of downtown, but this location is more convenient if you are downtown or en route along 160, and they do have fresh loaves of bread at this location). It's European style breads and it's the best bread I've found between Montrose and Santa Fe (and reasonably priced for speciality bread). They also have a food menu and a small selection of sweet baked goods (I've only tried the cookies, they are crispy not chewy, but good if you like that type of cookie). read more
