I have never had such a disappointing experience. My dog wasn't damp at all(she always is because she doesn't like the dryers.) She didn't smell like she had a bath. I don't know if they even used a dry shampoo. Her nails are not trimmed. I paid $65 for her shampoo and nail trim. Anyone recommend another business? read more

Love this store - they keep a great stock of treats, toys, and supplies but mostly I covet it for the self serve dog washing station. For $17, you can bathe your pup in one of their two dog washing stations. They stock shampoo and towels -- you can also bring your own, which I do -- and there are even some black plastic aprons for the humans to cosplay, I mean, to protect your clothes from splashing. My only complaint is that the dryers are *right* next to the bath. My dog doesn't fuss in a bath, but he's still a dog and periodically shakes off the water. Inevitably, the wall near the outlet gets wet, and plugging into a wet electrical outlet is a total nightmare!! The first time I was here, I literally saw sparks. (The second time, I tried to plug in the dryer before the bath but it goes auto-on.) Anyway. Four stars because self wash is SO convenient -- just make the appointment ahead of time! -- and the employees are great. I love the convenience of having the store in St Johns. Today we felt like exploring and decided to go here with our doggy Jax. They have a pretty cool self washing station for your pup, and a big variety of dog/cat food. They also have a pretty good variety of accessories and toys as well. The staff was super nice and they even gave our pup a little treat, despite him excitingly peeing everywhere we ended up getting a little treat ball dispenser. read more

This is within walking distance for me, and I've taken my pets since Celeste opened about 8 years ago. My pets have gone for baths, nail trims, and I buy their food there. Groomers are patient with my nervous rescue dog & staff tends to stay. read more

So I have a 16 year old Cocker Spaniel named Sam. After bringing him to Petco, they recommended we come to Nature's Pet at the St. Johns location specifically because of their experience. Called Friday to get a last minute appointment and scored. Perfect. Dropped Sam off early and all the employees there were super helpful. Came back almost 3 hours later to pick him up and Sam was extremely happy. They took care of him and you can see it on his face. Sam also had a wound on his hind leg and they were able to clean it and work around it. Seriously the best place you can take your pup. I actually haven't bought anything from this specific store but I will definitely come back. My other dog Roo needs to come by to visit. Thank you so much for taking care of Sam Sam. This review is based solely on (the lack of) customer service and grooming. The store itself is stocked with all the things necessary for your dog or cat, plus includes an awesome dog washing station that I've had to use on a few occasions when I couldn't get a grooming appointment for my dog (which is often). I used to have my dog groomed here regularly but perhaps it's under new ownership because the customer service and availability to make appointments has really taken a turn for the worse. They don't even answer their phone anymore! When I went in to make an appointment, the older gentleman behind the counter said it'll be "awhile" till they have availability. Like that's a date, "awhile." So aside from not being very welcoming anymore to the fact that they never seem staffed enough in the grooming department, I'm going to have to find another local groomer. They're fully staffed in regards to workers on the floor standing around talking to each other, but only have one very busy groomer doing the bulk of the work. read more

Nature's Pet is conveniently located in St Johns district with a parking lot shared with a 7-11 store. Parking is adequate. Although there aren't that many parking spots, I have always been able to park without a problem. I've taken my dog in for a self wash several times and had her professionally groomed here too. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I've always had great advice from them. Prices are also good. The store has a good variety of products and merchandise is well stocked and has a good presentation. The professional grooming was better than my last place and the price is fair. When my budget doesn't allow for professional services, then the pet wash has all the supplies I need: a good shampoo, grooming tools, towels, apron, and a dryer. My dog always knows she'll get a treat before we leave. She loves that! read more

We came back for a full bath and brush out with Penny. She did a great job making sure my dog had a positive experience, even though he was afraid of clippers. I was also impressed by how much coat she was able to salvage and blend into spots where mats were shaved. We will definitely be back! read more

They were so sweet and gentle to my 4 month old puppy and did an incredible job. She looks absolutely beautiful and seemed so happy (not at all traumatized or nervous) when I picked her up after being groomed. Had a pretty subpar experience. I tried to call regarding their self dog wash station and had no answer. Google states that their self dog wash station is available until 45 minutes before closing. I arrived shortly before 5 pm (closing is at 6) and was promptly told that their self dog wash was closed for the day. Not quite sure why it needs to be closed an hour before the store is closed as it takes me less than 15 minutes to wash and dry my pup, but will be going elsewhere now. - as a reply to Celeste, apologies, as my review initially stated 15 minutes before closing as a typo. If your station is closed 45 minutes before, then why was I declined a wash at 5 pm when you close at 6? That math does not compute... read more

Picked up my puppy yesterday for his grooming session. Could not be happier! He looks amazing, each detail exceeded expectations. They really gave him the royal treatment (as he deserves nonetheless!) and took great care while trimming around his eyes, paws and private areas. He has long hair and it's a lot to take care of for grooming. They must really know what they are doing! Will be coming back regularly! read more

Just had our two Shih Tzus groomed today for the first time at this store. We recently moved to the area and were in search of a good groomer. In the past we used a mobile grooming company that would come to our house so I was definitely nervous taking them somewhere and leaving them to get groomed. One stylist groomed Siggy(brown) and the other groomed Carini (white) and I must say I'm impressed, especially since this was their first time grooming the two dogs. I wouldn't change a thing!! Both groomers were super nice and handled my boys very nicely and respectively. Both were groomed at the same time(very convenient for those with two dogs) in an open bay with windows where the owners can watch or check in. Both were done in about an hour and a half. I'm really picky about my boys cut and both look great cute round faces and evenly cut coats! Which can be hard to accomplish on Carini, so I appreciate the extra time taken to make them look great! I definitely will be going back and recommend others to try them out!! read more

My golden retriever had gotten into a hot mess at the park, therefore my next situation was an urgent one to get my dog bathed and smelling good. I quickly walked into the store, told them my situation and led me and my naughty dog to the self serve dog wash area. The ladies were sooooo good to us, so understanding and so empathetic. I came in here the other day to get some treats. I just got a new kitty and she has a URI history, so I wanted to lysine treats. I found them easily and they were a great price. The cashier was extremely friendly. Fast forward to this morning and my poor kitty was having some digestion problems. She has a very sensitive tummy and she had stopped eating the regular food that I had gotten her because it made her feel bad. I have a vet appointment for her to see if there's anything we can do medically to help her sensitivity, but I came in here looking for something that would help her feel better until we got to the vet and if they had food suggestions that I could run by my vet to help pick one that my cat will like and that wont upset her digestive tract. The staff was so friendly, they gave me numerous samples of food that I will be bringing with me to the vet appointment. They also suggested a wet food with pumpkin (because it helps upset stomachs) that my cat loved so much and helped her start eating again. This place is great and I will be back soon. Nature's Pet Market on Lombard is brand new and a fabulous addition to our North Portland neighborhood! Celeste owns it with her husband and she is so warm, friendly and helpful! They have a fabulous selection of foods, treats (so many Whimzees-- my dog's favorite!), toys and they have a pet wash station that is currently only $10! They also have a grooming space. They went waaaaay above and beyond for our grooming appointment. My 125# malamute was in dire need of a grooming and they an extremely thorough job even though I'm sure it was a ton of work. Hey ended up keeping him most of a day and I was shocked at how generous their pricing was, especially for the effort that it must have taken. This place is a bargain, so remember to tip your groomer! The owner even allowed me to pick him up after they closed because the grooming took longer than expected. The groomer was absolutely fantastic with my dog and he was in great spirits when I picked him up. I could tell that he felt very safe and happy the whole time he was there. I took some time to scope out their food and supplies while I was there and they have a great selection and extremely competitive prices. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable.
