In my opinion, Le Naumachia is the best restaurant in Rome. "Who the hell are you to say so?" you might ask. Well, let's put it this way. I have spent four summers in Rome over the last 13 years, and I have yet to find a buffalo mozzarella or a ravioli with sage that even comes close. Not to be a snob, but I live in New York, I've lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles and spent time all over Italy. I've brought friends, family and those no longer with us to this beautiful place, and I have never been disappointed. The service is incredible (so friendly and non judgmental of American tourists, even with Trump doing everything possible to make us look terrible), I dream about the homemade fettuccine and the saltimbocca, and the cheapest chianti will satisfy even the most picky wine snobs. The ambiance is open, fun without being obnoxious, and the staff genuine and caring. I cannot recommend Le Naumachia enough, if you are in Rome, you must go! read more

Beyond doubt, Naumachia is the best restaurant in Rome. The food is absolutely incredible. The Cacio e Pepe and the Spaghetti all'Amatriciana are the best that you'll find in Rome. The house-named dish, Pasta Naumachia, is equally amazing, especially if you're looking for homemade pasta. Start the meal with an appetizer or two - the artichoke appetizer, when in season, is out of this world. While you're there, make sure to buy a bottle of dry red wine (Brunello di Montalcino), sit, relax, and enjoy the environment. They won't rush you at all, and they truly allow you to take your time and enjoy your evening and environment (it's a great date spot). It's definitely not a tourist-y restaurant, as you'll find a mix of both locals and tourists. The staff are all friendly, helpful, and to put it plainly, just AWESOME. Our last night in Rome and we found the best restaurant of the vacation right around the corner from our hotel. Perfect from appetizers to dessert. Attractive interior, not shabby but not so high brow that it was stuffy feeling. Extremely friendly welcoming staff that knows enough English to make ordering easy. Menu in English as well too though. Good bread, fresh pasta, delicious fishes, and a tiramisu to die for!! Truly a wonderful evening and couldn't ask for more for our "final supper" . After reading other reviewers I'm glad we tried it without reading the reviews because I feel like I ate at a differnt restaurant. Maybe we just got lucky and ordered the right things? Unbelievable....being from America, I was on business travel in Rome and discovered this fabulous restaurant, only a few blocks from the Colosseum. It was recommended by a local wine bartender. Generally, I am very successful in finding great food places this way; ask the locals. Indeed, it happened again, I hit a jackpot! This place is outstanding. You will not be disappointed. Very clean and fast service. The food certainly represents the taste and culture of Italy. My waiter David did a wonderful job selecting me dinner paired with a local red wine. He was very professional and interacted very well with me and others he was serving. My surprise oxtail pasta dish and dessert had an amazing flavor. All working were very kind and professional, especially owners Roberto and Marzia. This place was busy, but they handled the crowd very well in getting people seated ASAP when a table became available. I am returning to Rome for vacation in October. There will be six of us traveling. We will be having dinner here so others can experience this incredible hidden Italian cuisine restaurant. Don't miss it while you are there. So this place was recommended by a friend of the family. At first I was a bit hesitant, because I had been to rome a few times and hadn't heard of this place. This is one of my new favorite resturants in rome. They had a superb seafood pasta with clams and shrimp that was incredible. There house wine was decent for a house wine. We also had their red meet pasta, which had a nice spicy kick to it which made it incedible. We had lunch here yesterday, at the recommendation of a local, and it was excellent. The restaurant was busy but the food was worth the wait. We tried several pizzas which were exceptionally good and very reasonably priced. We had Bucatini Amatriciana and the sauce was to die for. So glad we found this place! We had previously went to Pizza Luzzi next door, and decided to head back to that area to try to something else - this place was around the corner. Only a few of the waiters speak english, so a few times they had to come over to help us. "Lazy" fresh made lasagna was to die for as an appetizer. I had the seafood risotto, which was good and what I thought it would taste like. My husband loved his balsamic steak. We were seated near the dessert prep station and saw all the amazing items coming out. We wanted dessert soooo badly but couldn't find the space. After a recommendation to visit Naumachia from Nunzio in Collingswood New Jersey we did and I am so happy we did. Great location just a few minutes walk from Coliseum. We were welcomed at the door immediately and sat at a table for two in the front of the restaurant. Our server, Davido, was excellent and suggested fresh gnocchi with clams for my wife and I had a seafood pasta.......deeeelicious. We found this place on Google maps and saw the great reviews, so we decided to give it a go. All the other reviews are fake or this place has gone down. First, the food took a very long time to arrive, while people who arrived later than us ate and left. Second, the waiter had to ask what we had ordered, which's us to believe he either didn't submit the order or submitted it wrong. When the food was finally brought out, the pizza my sister ordered was the wrong one. We told him and he lied and said the menu was printed incorrectly in English, and what was translated as "pepperoni" was really "peppers." My sister was hungry and is pregnant so tried not to make a big deal out of it. However, the waitress attitude was less than desired. He rolled his eyes, made a face, and left. He never returned and we had to go ourselves to receive the check/bill. I mentioned to who seemed to be the manager or maybe owner, the bad attitude and service of the waiter. He had no interest in listening to us. All this person said was, I can't do anything." The food was subpar, rude waiters, and bad service.
