Couldn't wait to take a bite!

We stopped in to try the Lobster rolls here while we were in port on a cruise ship. We asked our tour guide for a suggestion and this is where he sent us. So glad he did! Hubby and I both ordered a Lobster Roll and Chocolate Chip Cookies. The Lobster Roll was huge. Chocked full of Lobster. I asked for Mayo for mine. We both loved it. Price was good. Didn't wait long to get our food once we placed our order at the counter. We definitely would come back!

Navis is one of those cafes I'm surprised isn't more busy during the week. They have a small menu, but something for everyone--their Grain Bowl, chowder, avo toast, and chai latte are my favorites. It's a perfect place to sit and work on a sunny day, as the interior is incredibly bright and sunny given their floor-to-ceiling windows. The staff are always friendly as well. I love popping in here for a quick bite!

    Cute outdoor seating area.

So - my office is opening a new building sometime on the Portland waterfront. And this cute little cafe is just a hop, skip and a jump away. Since I had some time to kill today before an apt and hadn't eaten yet - I thought I'd check it out. The menu had a mix of breakfast, sandwiches and salads - perfect work day items. On special today - they had a Chinese Chicken Salad and a Lobster Roll combo. Both were tempting, but I was t that hungry. I went with Avocado Toast (added bacon), a chocolate chip cookie, and a rose. All hit the spot perfectly! The service was friendly and quick. And that patio - on a hot, breezy day was perfection! Looking forward to coming back to try some of this sandwiches and salads.

Staff was nice but sandwich was meh ($15 for regular cold cuts on toast) with no chipotle aioli and fat chunks of red onion. Coffee options to do yourself were literally just milk and domino sugar... the only great thing about this place was the location near the water. Not for me for $23.

I'm so glad that the Portland Food Fight brought me here for the best sandwich competition. Out of the two choices I was able to pick from, I went with The Stern (turkey, Gouda, caramelized onion, apple and chipotle mayo) and I'm so glad I did! I've only made a few stops on the coupon map and I already know this place is a contender for 1st place. The bread was super fresh and all the texturizes and flavors of the ingredients complimented each other beautifully. The girl at the counter was absolutely delightful. The looks space looks like it's freshly built, clean as a whistle, with a beautiful counter tops filled with fresh baked breads, cookies and pastries. I'm so excited to discover they sell my "go-to" adult canned beverages by Maine Craft Distillery. I've yet to visit any other bars that carry the Blueshine Lemonade. Yay for locals supporting other locals!

Bagels tasted like bread. Not a bagel. Wouldn't last a day in NYC . The lox was excellent. We are the toppings and left the bagel.

Delicious coffee and a lot of unique options compared to other coffee shops. Went with the black and tan coffee.

Great stop to grab a snack and drink. They serve La Colombe off the tap which is not easy to find.

The bread used is delightfully soft and crunchy in all the right ways. The meat is flavorful and high quality and the ingenious construction of the sandwiches are bar-none. Urg. I was excited to try this place but the egg sandwich I got (the Ramona with broccoli rabe,…read morebacon, American cheese) fell short. The roll was ever so slightly stale and the broccoli rabe had chili in it (so even though I asked for chili on the side it's still in the vegetable part). I also have a total pet peeve about American cheese. In this instance, it just made the sandwich have a gluey internal texture. I often find it is gourmet places trying to be trendy that use American cheese as though they are able to rebrand it. Sharp American or not, the cheese would have been way better in my opinion had it been cheddar or Swiss or really anything. To be fair, the bacon was well-cooked and the eggs were nicely scrambled. Although the sandwich idea is original (broccoli rabe on a breakfast sandwich), I found the flavors just didn't come together. For what it's worth, service was friendly and efficient. Moreover, like a few other places on the East End, I find this place is just sort of too curated, overly self-conscious, and trying too hard to be trendy. I would take a straightforward breakfast sandwich over one that comes with a side of merch and a Brooklyn-hipster-like environment any day.

All 3 sandwiches were large and full of meat. We got it to go and by the time we got home, the sandwiches were a little soggy from the juices. Still was good though. The Philly cheesesteak was very good. A large was big enough to split between my teenage son and I. The roast beef was good, but I got a blast of horseradish up the nose after what I thought was a clump of Cole slaw, and I was done. My husband enjoyed his Reuben. Wish I could have tried just my order of Cole slaw. Maybe next time... I wished I had ordered the fries after seeing how thin and crispy they were. Waitstaff was busy, but sweet and helpful. Everything seems to be homemade there. Will definitely try again.
