    Turkey sandwich
    Cara L.

I'm writing this review before I've even finished my sandwich because THATS how great it is. This cafe was recommended to me by the owners of the knit/yarn store down the street when asked where I could get a quick lunch since I was low on time. The owner was the absolute sweetest as soon as I walked through the door and I can tell she values her relationships with her customers deeply. The cafe itself is not very large but it feels cozy and intimate that way. I placed an order to go for a turkey sandwich and greens and it came out super quick and was so warm it survived the short walk back to my hotel just fine. The greens have a wonderful dressing on them with some vegetables on top. The back of the menu is coffee that I'm sure is to die for. Will absolutely be coming back here soon!

Food service was excellent I had the California Cobb salad, which was fresh and tasted delicious. My friend had the egg sandwich which was delicious as well. Everything was fresh and presented beautifully.

We did Saturday brunch and it's a very cute little cafe. We waited about 25 minutes and it was worth every bite. We had 2 different omelets and if you have a chance to get one with fiddleheads, do it! The cocktails were fairly priced. Don't expect free refills on soda though. It comes in a bottle. Our server was great for recommending things and chatting with us about the area.

Came in after breakfast was done at 11:00 on a Wednesday morning. The waitress was very nice. The restaurant was empty and offered me any seat I wanted. Ambiance was very chill, perfect for the day. I went with a double espresso and a tuna melt. The food and coffee were good. Pretty standard fries and sandwich. Nothing in particular was amazing but nothing was bad.

    Bloody Mary

This Cafe was so yummy. Everyone loved their meals and the bloody Mary was on point! Both kids loved their sausage egg sandwiches and my burrito was so flavorful! My husband enjoyed his omelet but it was a little small, fortunately the rest of our meals were big enough to share with him. Our waitress was awesome, she was so sweet and attentive. We did wish they had a sweet option like French toast or pancakes, but apparently that is only on the weekends. Also, I wish I could have had a bloody Maria but I steer clear of Jose Cuervo, which was their only tequila option. But overall the pros outweigh the minor cons!

    French toast

Really cozy eatery with friendly staff. Came here for a quick breakfast and couldn't decide between the omelette or the French toast, so I got BOTH! Hahaha. The French toast was soft and moist on the inside (the soak it overnight so your not eating some dry piece of bread masquerading as French toast), the berries were fresh, and the syrup sweet without being overly sweet. Perfection. The omelette was delicious. The home fries were a mix of sweet potato and Idaho potatoes-yum! Overall, it was a great experience. Will be back for sure.

I don't actually throw this phrase around a lot, but Artemisia Cafe is an absolute "hidden" gem. Weirdly, Portland doesn't have a lot of places open for brunch midweek. And while Artemisia Cafe doesn't advertise it: they do. Until 10:30 every day you can order brunch, and baked goods, and enormous boozy drinks. It's positively delightful. As is their space: it's very warm, each booth feels very private, there's plants and art, and it just feels like a comfortable spot for everyone. That's reflected in their menu, too, since they have options for vegetarians and vegans. That being said, I am sad to see that they've removed the Sardou from their menu though (it was this hot spinach artichoke like dip that you could get on a bed of homefries, topped with a poached egg; so messy, SO GOOD - one of the most unique brunch bites in the city). Their baked goods aren't to be skipped; I just wish the cinnamon rolls were available more often. There really aren't any go-to spots in Portland for one, and Artemisia could easily fill that hole! Finally, if you like a good drink with your breakfast foods, GET. THE. MIMOSA. It's enormous. Probably the biggest one in the city. The bloody is divine too. Actually, just get both and thank me later.

    Breakfast burrito and chai latte

Artemisia was the perfect spot to stop for brunch after some friends ran the Portland half. It was around 10 am on Saturday morning, we waited 25 ish minutes for a table for 6. The space is clean, warm and inviting, with a case of delicious looking pastries when you first walk in. Once we sat down, water was quickly brought out as well as food and drink menus. Everything sounded delicious, but I went with the breakfast burrito which was fantastic. The melted cheese on top is delicious and the home fries are epic. These aren't your normal home fries but closer to perfectly roasted and seasoned potatoes. I ordered a hot chai latte to go with it and it was probably one of the best chai lattes I've ever had. Sweet but not too sweet and nicely spiced. The others at the table got the veggie hash and a special kielbasa wrap and everyone seemed super pleased with their orders. If I'm ever back in Portland this will definitely be a stop we make again!

Amazing breakfast options, food coffee, great service and a fun atmosphere. It was a perfect start to the day. Kielbasa hash is the only way I shall have hash in the future.

We also had a cabbage salad that sounds so plain in the description but it was delicious and cabbage is not my go-to normally. I was able to try the smash burger and it lives up to all the hype I had heard about it. Staff was super friendly and prices were not crazy.

Since we visited on Thanksgiving Day it was a prix fix menu which included the following: -Bread and Turkey Jam -Winter Squash Soup -Chicory & Arugula Salad -Roasted Turkey Breast -Braised Short Ribs -Ilma's Maple Bourbon Pie -Pumpkin Budin This menu was specifically made for Thanksgiving so I imagine guests who have to wait until the next Thanksgiving to enjoy the fare. What I can say is that the soup was my favorite and the turkey breast was not in the slightest dry. The short ribs were my friends favorite and we both loved the pumpkin budin. Service was polite and efficient and te music was upbeat and lively, despite the restaurant emiting a dark romantic vibe. I'm really thankful that they had reservations available and that the food was delicious since many restaurants in the area were already booked out. Thank you Wayside Tavern for a delicious meal!

For being in the middle of the day on a Saturday, I was actually surprised it wasn't busier; however, with a starving kid it was a blessing. Service was quick and kind, but not overly frilly. The staff were pleasant and incredibly accommodating with my son (offering coloring books if he needed to be kept busy, etc). I loved the location, and the ambiance was stellar. I would love to come back as a date night so I could actually take in the space and really enjoy look over the options, rather than a quick glance so that we could keep our afternoon rolling. I got a chicken sandwich and my husband and son both got cheeseburgers. We split a large fry which was plenty for the three of us. Portions were reasonably sized for the price, and the dirty sauce I got on the side was delicious! The house-made soda was also delightful and refreshing. So, a 3 star is great for the the fact that I didn't really take my time to truly take it all in. But I definitely look forward to coming back and really soaking it all in

Clearly handmade in the back, soft and chewy, yet sturdy enough to handle a hefty burger and sandwich. We also got the loaded fries, which were alright. For the price, I don't know if I'd recommend them again, just go with the regular fries. The texture of the fries was perfect, but the pickled onion/ground beef combination was not my favorite.

Swish, Here's to Feeling Good All the Time, Nothing Gold, and Reciprocal are a formidable foursome. At any given time, you can usually get at least two, more often three, sometimes all four. -- You'd be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a better smashburger in Portland, but I'd also put it up against any regularly-offered burger I've had in Portland--smashed or otherwise. I love everything about it, from the high caliber of the beef to the fresh pillowy milk bun to the exhilaratingly strong cure of the bacon to the razor-thin cutting of the vegetables to the execution that gets even a smashburger burger juicy. -- I'm still not crazy about the wings. They have a frozen dinner feel to them. A few things, though, have changed: -- Full service now instead of having to order everything at the bar. That's a plus. -- The place is much more crowded-- including screaming tykes-- on the weekends. Not a plus, but can't fault a place for its own popularity. -- The fries are now the industrial strength coated kind. A big minus and a sad drop off from prior greatness, but better that than from an item off the main cast. -- You can now order beer cans to go from the table rather than having to get in line. A nice convenience. A few things to know: -- It's a surprisingly good option for vegetarians and pescatarians. The veggie burger and the grilled fish sandwich are both much more than solid. -- There's outdoor seating in front of the building and also to the right. -- The bar room to the right of the entrance is adults only, so if those screaming tykes get on your nerves, this is the place to be. -- You can still order beer at the bar if that's your preference over table service. Still a favorite, and the combo of beer, food, and space is tough to beat (Mast Landing and Maine Beer in Freeport are also somewhere in that echelon).

As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!
