This cute little donut shop has such unique flavors. We stopped in to order their maple bacon mini donuts and it was so hard NOT to eat all of them in one sitting. They are freshly made when ordered so they come out pipping hot!! The donuts are so carefully crafted and decorated well it made it hard to touch them, oh but we did! My only gripe is I wish you could mix up a 6 count box. You have to order all the same unless you get a 16 count box and then you can mix 3 or 4 flavors. All the flavors looked amazing! Shoutout to Eighty 8 Donuts, our go-to for every "what do we bring?" moment at social events. We've been enjoying their donuts for years, and somehow they just keep getting better. Truly some of the best in town. The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the donuts are consistently fresh and delicious. Once again , Eighty 8 Donuts in Portland is a must. Their donuts are insanely fresh -- like you can actually taste how just-made they are. Soft, perfect texture, not stale for a second, and every flavor I've tried has been straight up delicious. Some of the people who work there could be a tad more polite but overall they are nice. Stopped by Eighty 8 Donuts and treated myself to The Homer and a coffee. Wow--these donuts are something else! They were perfectly fluffy, soft, and light, and honestly, almost too pretty to eat. I found myself just staring at it for a second, like, "Do I dare?" But once I took that first bite, it was pure bliss--the sweetness balanced perfectly, and the texture was spot-on. The donuts are good but I do not feel they are worth the hype they receive. Also, and this is just my personal opinion, I'm not a fan of bite sized donuts. I think you're spending too much money on something you're getting just a single taste of. Lastly, I don't like how you can't order a variety. You have to order a 6 pack of just one flavor. these donuts are seriously the best donuts I've ever had in my life. I usually get them at the Friberg fair with my family and we all pick a few flavors to share. They are just so delicious and warm and made right on the spot. I haven't been to the Portland location, but I would assume they are just as good there as well. Only downside to this experience was the prices were too high for tiny donuts. They were the size of hostess mini donuts. $1.40 per mini hostess size donuts. Its a one time experience for us. After hearing so much about Holy Donut -- and not being able to get any because it was after 3pm -- we decided to check out Eighty 8 just to satisfy our donut craving. When we got there, we were told their donuts come in a set of six bite-sized pieces and are made to order, so they come out warm and fresh. That already sounded promising. We ordered the chocolate, maple, and my husband got one topped with bacon (not my thing, but he liked it). I was honestly surprised -- the other two were really good. Warm, soft, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Just right. We ended up having Holy Donut the next day... and wow. This place is so unique. I have never had such fancy mini donuts. I didn't know anything about this place and did not expect the mini donuts so it was a really fun surprise. They are all made to order so it takes a little bit but it's worth it. The boxes and the shop are also super cute, very instagramable. We got the Boston cream and fruity pebble donuts. Although the fruity pebbles were my pick I liked the Boston cream better. My only complaint is maybe a little too sweet, like the ratio of donut to topping could be dialed back a little. read more

This donut place was just around the corner from Highroller. After having lobster rolls for lunch, I wanted something sweet. Portland has an amazing donut scene that includes Eighty 8. We got the Lemon Zinger and Cookies and Cream specialty bites. They were all freshly made and we only had to wait a few minutes. The donuts are so pillowy soft and practically melts in your mouth. I was with friends so we ordered three varieties. Lemon zinger, 007, and BAMM BAMM. I loved the lemon zinger and 007, but just thought the BAMM BAMM was ok. Counter service was good and helpful. Great bite sized donuts Be forewarned, these made to order donuts are little sugar bombs yes but they are yum and bite sized, so grab a friend and share the sugar overload! On two separate trips to this location, I tried the Cookies and Cream, Maple Bourbon, and Boston Cream. The Cookies and Cream was definitely a favorite for the younger crowd, the Maple Bourbon definitely has a stronger than expected Bourbon with much sweetness from the Maple. The Boston Cream was rich and a little less sweeter than the others. I also appreciated the cream on the outside not squirting out the other end on a bite. LOL. I thought their Doughnuts are delicious! I had Boston Cream and lemon zinger and both were fresh and delicious!! Their doughnuts are bite sized and smaller than typical doughnuts. They don't have a large variety of flavors to choose from but their choices were sufficient. I got there 20 minutes before closing and they didn't have any more regular brew coffee left which was disappointing. The service was friendly and helpful. The location was clean and well lit. I was lucky to have Eighty 8 Donuts Cafe as one of the food trucks at a corporate event. Their mini donuts in numerous tasty flavors is just the right amount of sweet. I was so impressed that I looked them up so that I could try more of their delicious options. The donuts are served warm, and each flavor is distinct. The only downside for me was that they only sell the donuts as 5 per flavor. They do offer a 25 count variety box, but you still have to order them in groups of 5. I'm not sure why, but they are strict on this rule. I purchased 2 "sugar rush " boxes, totaling 50 mini donuts and still didn't get a taste all of their flavors. The store is well located in Portland and is adorable. The service was slowish (they hand-dip each order fresh) but very pleasant. I will definitely be back, but I hope they change their order rule. read more

What started as a food truck has now become their second physical location with the first cafe being at Sugarloaf. I have wanted to get my hands on these donuts ever since I first saw they were a thing. It never came to be as I was a little too far out from Portland to ever see their food truck. Until a stroll through Portland to try a different breakfast oriented place and I knew I needed to stop in. Well I'm glad I randomly walked by this cafe and even happier I got two different flavors. I would recommend either one and likely any of the others as well (even without trying them). I think I'd give a slight edge to the cookies n cream aka Oreo donuts. If you have tried the food truck you know what to expect. If you haven't heard of the food truck it doesn't matter make your way here. If you're like me and wanted to try the food truck and never got a chance to, then don't sweat it, you got a permanent location you know you can snag this donuts at. This place is awesome!! We were headed to the lobster place around the corner and came across here. At first we saw that it was $8 for 6 donuts and were like "wow! What a steal!!" But the lady quickly told us that the donuts are 2-bite size each and tiny, so we reconsidered our order size lol. We did an order of 30 for $25, which was definitely enough for my group of 4. You can choose 5 flavors and we did the strawberry, chocolate, powdered, fruity pebbles, and maple flavors. Omg they are made to order and come out fresh, hot, with dripping frosting. Amazing made to order bite sized donuts. They were fresh, hot, slightly crispy and the glaze was just perfect. You can get one flavor for every 1/2 dozen. My bf and I agreed that the Maine Maple donuts were one of the best donut bites we ever had. Our pup even needed a sniff. They also had a doggy biscuit for him from the tin on the counter. I love how adorable these look and the bite size of them. They are freshly made to order and warm when you get them. The only downside is that the frosting can melt sometimes down the side, but it is still worth it. They have a good selection for classics and also do a rotating special. They are kinda pricey and come in 1 pack of 6 same flavor typically, or you can get 25ct like I did and mix it up. It's definitely worth trying.
