I don't play golf. I was here to attend a Personal Appearance & Breakfast held in the Special Events Room & the venue worked out quite well. It was a very rainy day so I doubt there were many golfers on the green hitting the links. Anyway, I was impressed with the big parking lot, the architecture & the welcoming lobby. There was a pro shop & restaurant with a bar as well. I really liked the staff, very nice & professional. The breakfast was tasty. Fresh fruit, fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon & croissants made up the buffet table. Starbucks coffee, hot tea & ice water were at the beverage station. I know "Seal Beach" is in the name but it's actually located in Cypress, tucked away in a cul- de-sac. I'd like to return & have breakfast or lunch at the "Take 5IVE" Grill & Bar. I bet on a rainy day you can get a good parking spot & not have to wait for a table! read more

The course itself is in great condition, for a majority of the year. My biggest issue with this place is the absolutely horrendous pace of play. They for some reason need to be greedy and jam people by booking tee times 8 minutes apart, there is never a Marshall on the course in the afternoon. I am currently sitting on the 9th hole par 3 and it's jammed with 4 different groups waiting to tee off. Been sitting here for 20 minutes already and it's a Tuesday afternoon. The Long Beach courses don't even have it this bad. Management needs to do better at addressing this. I know I'm not the only one that complains. read more

Had a change of duty to Los Alamitos and came to pro shop 2 years. I went for lunch and was in uniform to ask questions and staff were absolutely rude (curt, short not answering questions). I would have assumed it was because it was busy, but I was 1 of 3 people in pro shop. Never stepped foot again until last week. "Jai" was working and it was a 100% improvement. He was great and told me about any deals, pricing etc for military. What I didn't like was lack of oversight at the driving range. So I took the offered Golf Lesson and I was not disappointed. The restaurant offered amazing options. The avocado toast was just want I needed to get my day going. The balsamic vinaigrette just added that extra pop that made it sooooo good. The course is so impressive for such a "small" Navy town. The instructor, Lloyd and John were amazing and made the class fun. I can't say this loud enough, this is an amazing facility and if you have access to it you better use it. read more

Amazing! Relaxed!!! I joined my husband this afternoon. We stopped by club house and had onion rings. The portion is generous, only $5. Eating inside club house w the nice view is peaceful. Most of menus are around $13. Burger, sandwich, tacos, salad, nacho, onion rings, and a lot more. The practice range is quiet, nice around 12:30 on Monday. I love the putting area to improve my putting skill w great lake view. Peaceful!!! Beautiful!!! I saw a couple of jets flew right next our practice range. Very noisy but awesome. Course has turned into a joke since they opened the course to civilians. It makes getting good tee times next to impossible. With all the added revenue from charging more you would think that course would be golf heaven. Bunkers are as hard as rocks, people refuse to rake after they hit out, greens look like nobody knows how to fix divot marks. It is at least a four and a half hour round but can easily go over five hours. As far as getting a tee time, they have a 21 day in advance for active duty military, a 16 day in advance for retired military to make a tee time. They also have what is called military Monday which is where active duty or retired military can have guests play and pay the same green fee the military member pays. I've never understood this since in 20 years of active military service I was working on Mondays. Of course this is one of the hardest days to get a morning tee time. I don't think it is because all the active duty folks decided to take Monday off and go play golf. There is not that many military in the area since LB ship yard and Navy hospital was closed. It appears to me that they favor the civilian higher green fees instead of the military which was the original reason for having the course to begin with. Bottom line, avoid this course at all costs. read more

I got invited to a small civic group meeting in this place and I was impressed with how easy parking was, how relaxing the atmosphere is, how cozy the lobby is. The food was good and I heard the food rates, as well as the function room rentals are very fair. read more

I recently started golf because two of my best friends are renewing their vows in Thailand, and their trip revolves around golf -- 3 courses in Thailand and 2 in Vietnam. To get ready, we came to Navy Golf Course to practice. The driving range is small, but it seemed like a good place to hit balls together. Here's the problem: on both sides of us, there were people giving their friends pointers and parents teaching their kids. Yet the only group spoken to about "not being allowed to teach" was us. My friend was simply giving his wife some tips -- nothing more -- and we were told to stop. Why? The only explanation we can see is bias. My friend is Black, his wife is South Asian, and because she can hit the ball extremely well, staff assumed he was a paid instructor. That is flat-out wrong. She is obviously not paying her husband for advice. Meanwhile, others -- who happened to be the same race -- were left alone while doing the exact same thing. The employee, Craig, enforced a rule selectively, and it left us feeling singled out, disrespected, and unwelcome. Whether it's racism or insecurity from whoever runs lessons here, it reflects very poorly on this course. Golf is supposed to be about community and enjoyment, but the way we were treated showed the opposite. read more

Went for a Baseball Banquet. Been there many banquets via different grandchildren events. Always enjoy the ambiance , respect of servers, food excellent : fresh and constantly being refreshed. If you're an avid golf fan you should know the history of this course and Tiger growing up around here. Yeah he used to sneak onto the 13th after hours with his father to play when they were super poor. This golf club has 2 different courses, cruiser (9 hole) and destroyer (18 hole). Yes its majority catered towards military to get a tee time. You will need your military ID during checkin or even just to book it online. The green fees are tiered here based on your military category E1-E7+, DOD, vet or civilian. ($13-$56). Cart fee is extra $16-17. They do offer full bag set rentals too for those on tour or traveling. This is definitely a high quality club house for our military! It's pretty much impossible to book a tee time for civilians esp on the destroyer course. Yeah you might get some 9hole times here and there. It's been a few years since we've played here but the range is now off mats instead of off grass. Not sure if its select days off grass now. The bucket prices did go down though. Small bucket is now $3, large bucket $5. The full pitching area is still next to the range with a 3 holes and bunkers available for practice. The course conditions have always been top notch. The greens are in perfect conditions and ready for any tourny. The course itself isn't super difficult with wide flat fairways. 6780 yards off the back blue with 72.6/129 rating. It's a great course for all skill levels. Pace of play is absolutely smooth as there is minimal waits between groups. We finished our round in about 4.5 hours. If there are VIP groups they'll block out entire time slots and they may have security details if you see a large group of carts moving together. Note they have drained the majority of the water hazards to save water! They are still OB but at least you can pickup your lost ball and take some more stuck in the dirt lol. There are no cart services here but there is a full snack shack with fake starbucks logo at 12. There are full restroom buildings available at holes at 6 and 12. Note you don't get back to the clubouse at the turn so hit the restroom at 12 and pickup your beers, shots and snacks! Still one of my top 3 favorite courses but again gotta get your military buddies to book your tee times for you! It's cool seeing the military planes in the back 9 too. If you're lucky you'll see a takeoff! read more

Very well maintained, fun, challenging, good restaurant, walkable course, and convenient location

I echo the posts about not being able to get a tee time. This was not always so. I am a local resident and used to play all the time before Covid. Now it is near impossible to get a morning tee time. Something is going on, fraud most likely, military ID's being used to book all the tee times and then giving them to friends/family or the highest bidder. Email the Commander on their web site, it's the only way something may get done. The staff at the course don't know or don't care, I have tried! read more

We We're able to get a tee time. I'm a veteran and I'm still having a hard time getting a tee time. Otherwise is beautiful golf course. I'm going to try to get a reservation soon. This course is a disgrace. No stars if possible. It is about $70+ to play a bad conditioned course and it is worth going somewhere else. The greens are the reason for my bad review. Every green has patches of dead grass and is extremely bumpy. I couldn't make a single birdie putt because the grass was bumpy and in so bad of quality. The tee boxes were the same issue. No flat ground to tee up the ball and every par 3 the grass was thinner than my fathers receding hairline making impossible to get under the ball. I would suggest going to Costa Mesa country club instead for a better and cheaper round. read more

I had a terrible experience here on 12-4-2024. My husband and I brought my son to practice golf at the range. Suddenly, a man named John approached us and yelled at my husband to leave immediately. He told us to stop teaching my son and to get out.We were very embarrassed that this happened in front of so many people, but I explained the situation. "He is my husband and the father of my son." I thought it was normal for families to give each other small tips while practicing golf here. He yelled at us to leave immediately. He even told my husband, "You are not an instructor," and threatened to call the golf course security if we didn't leave right away. I think he is such a crazy racist. read more

Did the 9 Hole yesterday around 4pm and it wasn't too crowded, weather was perfect, and the course is pretty well maintained. I'm a beginner golfer (2nd time playing on a course), and this course was very fun, easier than one near me that I've played, and definitely worth the visit. It was pretty cool that the 9 Hole portion was separated from the full 18. Can't wait to come back to play again and try the 18 once I'm a little better! read more

I wish this is the place to golf, practice putting and even dine in at a nice restaurant, but the staffs working there will purposely leave you hanging and helpless. I called multiple times for a reservation and I'm always have to be placed on hold and they will disconnect. One time I called and the phone kept ringing and disconnect. Met up with friends on a weekday morning to play the 9-hole executive course and I had an amazing time! #1... no tee time is required to play the executive course.... we walked right on! #2... the price was right... $60 for two people and a golf cart rental! (With service discount) #3... the grounds were in great shape... everything was green, beautiful mature trees, and swarms of painted butterflies everywhere! #4... the pace was perfect... we never waited to tee-off. Our foursome played at a good pace and the twosome behind us (walking the course) never waited on us. #5... the course had a couple of holes with a bit of a challenge to them... #6... after our amazing 9-holes we cleaned up and had lunch at the grill! I used to love to practice at the Old Ranch Golf Course driving range before ball prices inexplicably surged manyfold and opening hours dwindled following COVID. My neighbor suggested trying the Navy course range instead. Got here just before the pro shop closed at 430 pm on a Thursday evening. Plenty of parking. Medium bucket with 60 balls cost a reasonable $7. It's a long walk from club house/pro shop to the ball dispenser hut. Fortunately I was warned beforehand to wear sunglasses: hitting from the mat at dusk meant looking directly looking into the blinding sunset glare. There're areas for practicing chipping and bunker shots besides the putting green and driving range to groove your skills. read more

Played this course last year during COVID, they did make use share carts which was a bummer. But the course condition was impressive. They seem to take pretty good care of the greens and the sunsets here are stunning. A+++ highly recommend but the tee times are hard to book as a single. Bring a group of 3 or 4 and you'll have better luck and a good time! read more

First time playing at Navy Golf, Seal Beach on a Thursday. The driving range was closed til 10:00am. Of course, I arrived at 8:30 am. The grill is nice. Pro Shop service was nice. If your going to book an event, save yourself the trouble and book it somewhere else. The food is whatever, but the customer service is so bad that it just leave you feeling uneasy. My family had an event here and I ask the service staff if I could have some plates lay out for the dessert. At first, they act confused and said they have to ask the manager. After being ignore, I went to look for the staff and they were just sitting in the back. Ask again and 10 minutes of back and forth, they told us that they don't have enough plates for the cake if we used the plates. Are you serious? You don't have enough plates for 50 ppl? Than why even offer catering? Just sound like they didn't want to do the extra dishes. Bartender can't make a decent margarita, if your going to order a drink. Just make sure it on the rocks, hopefully you get drunk enough and forget about the bad customer service. If you have to book an event here, ask if you could cater out and bring your own staff. LoL, better yet don't forget to bring your own plates as well. read more

I went to hit balls the other day at the Navy Golf Course in seal beach CA, I asked for a large bucket and to my surprise the cost was $17.00. The old price was $11.00 which I thought was fair. I was very surprised to say the least. I could see maybe raising the price a couple of bucks but not that much. Gentleman behind counter was very nice but you could tell he wasn't comfortable with the new price. read more

Fun courses here, I've played both the 9 hole and full 18, can't go wrong with either one depending on how much time you have. Both courses are challenging in their own ways and the fairways and greens are pretty well maintained. Majority of the water features are dried up, so sometimes you'll see people hitting out of the dry lake beds. As fun as this course is, over priced for civilians and difficult to get tee times, so if you have enlisted friends who golf, buy them a beer and make a day out of it. read more

I attended a wedding at this location recently. The food and view is wonderful. Most of the employees are nice. One lady stood out to me, she is an older white lady that had her brown hair in a low bun with a black shirt that had an open back design. I think she is the manager? She is rude and I feel sorry for people that have to put up with her attitude. I overheard someone say thank you to her and she replied with "yeah ok" in a snobby tone. The business needs to find a better worker and not one that sounds annoyed at everyone. read more
