The Navy Yard Ballpark Metro stop is popular because 1) it's near the Shipyard where hundreds work and commute on a daily basis 2) it's a stop if you're going to watch the National's 3) It's a great place to get on the rail for transfers... Here are a few things you need to know 1) get your pass from the vending machines as you will need it to exit the metro 2) Masks are required 3) Best you know which way you're headed; makes a difference on which side of the platform you will stand on and you are looking at the Green lines 4th star for the cleanliness of the Navy Yard=Ballpark stop Check the schedule before you leave or you may miss it and have to wait for the next bus

This was one of the cleanest Metro stations I've seen. The employees who work here are nice and pretty friendly. There aren't many panhandlers or people bugging you for money/help. When there's a game going, someone is down there telling you which exit is best to take. (Thank goodness because our hotel is in the opposite direction and I didn't want to get caught up in that crowd.) There are plenty of machines to get/refill your SmartPass.

Navy Yard has a Metro station in the area. It seems clean. The best thing about it is the location. A few blocks away is Nationals Park. You can find a few places to eat and shop. It serves the Green Line. It's located on busy M Street SE close to Canal Park. There's lots of restaurants and shops. It gets busy during the baseball season when the Nationals play. With the World Series championship things will be more crazy than ever, so this station will be crazy too. It has a couple of exits. One will take you to closer to the waterfront area. The other will take you close to Nationals Park.

Standard Metro station - agree with Chris B. It's not well lit.. I was here a good hour before the baseball game (which was not a sell out at all!) and so it wasn't terribly crowded. There were a few Metro employees pointing people around the escalators since they were quite crowded and they wanted to keep people moving along. I love that it's right next to the ballpark. A half block from the station to entrances to Nationals Park. The station is on the Green line between Anacostia and Waterfront stations.

Trying to get home after the 2018 MLB HR Derby!

Perfect way to get to a Nats game or to a great food scene in DC! The metro is slick and easy to use as long as it shows up!

It looked like the evening hours, being the one exit sits underneath a building near Nationals Park(professional baseball for the Washington Nationals MLB team).

The Smithsonian Metro station in Washington, D.C., is my go-to gateway to the National Mall, and…read morelet me tell you my first ride on the D.C. Metro was an absolute riot! I hopped on expecting a chill, leisurely cruise like some other cities' subways, but nope this thing hauled ass right out of the gate. It accelerated like it was late for a very important date, screeching around corners, jerking side to side like a caffeinated New York train on steroids. The cars were swaying wildly, I was gripping the pole for dear life, laughing out loud thinking, "Subway gone wild! This is a thrill ride disguised as public transit!" It was hilarious and exhilarating definitely not your grandma's slow commuter train. (They've probably smoothed things out a bit with more automation these days, but that memory still cracks me up.) If you're visiting D.C. in the winter months when it's freezing out, ducking into the Metro (especially at Smithsonian) is a lifesaver warm, quick, and drops you right in the heart of everything. Parking downtown is a nightmare and wallet-killer, so snag a cheaper hotel farther out, jump on the train, and zoom in without the hassle. It's a smart, affordable way to get around, and if you're a train nerd like me, that wild ride might just become the story you tell for the rest of your life. Highly recommend 5 stars for the nostalgia alone!

A few walking distance from Air Space Muesum and Art Gallery, you get a lovely view of the US Capitol. I suggest wear sneakers. Don't wear sandals or Crocs. Your feet will hurt! This station is very clean, well maintained and operated. Station managers are always present and friendly! However the prices are insane unlike other major cities MTA. The so called peak time ends after 9pm on weekdays , holidays and weekends the prices are very reasonable.

Getting here can be a nightmare if you come from the wrong direction...which I did. The amount of streets you have to cross to get here can be time consuming and maybe even a bit dangerous. The station itself is like many of the other underground stations on the system. The concrete tube with the orange hexagon tile. Single platform serving both directions.
