First-time visitor to DC a few weeks ago. My first-ever metro ride was from the King Street station in Alexandria to Federal Triangle. The ride was a breeze and the station was super clean. What was absolutely mind-blowing, though, was the architecture of the buildings right outside of the station exit, and along the couple-of-blocks walk to the White House. Oh my gosh, absolutely stunning. I swear I stood there, right outside the station, and took photos of the building with the clock tower for five or ten whole minutes like a weirdo. I was in such awe!! I'd never hesitate to come through this station in the future. read more

This a somewhat lesser used Metro station that gets you to the Mall, Downtown and the Reagan Building via the Orange/Silver/Blue Lines. It's not usually as crowded as Smithsonian (for tourists) or Metro Center (for office drones) so its a less crowded downtown alternative to Metro Center. There's also a decent coffee shop in the Reagan Building plaza right outside the station. The station isn't huge but it's a good alternative if you're going to the Mall of downtown. read more

A smaller friendlier metro station. This one will bring you into downtown DC, but more laid back than Metro Center. You're close to the as it states federal areas. These buildings architecture is stunning. No doubt about that. As far as the station it is utilitarian, and the elevators/escalators seem to work. WMATA has improved things substantially. This has blue, orange, and silver line service. You have to use a different station, to get on the other lines. That isn't too difficult. The day passes can be a decent option, and prices are higher than they used to be. That's doing things in the city these days. This is a decent station, and I like how convenient it is to a lot of DC landmarks. read more

Federal Triangle has a serviceable Metro station convenient to the area. It doesn't look like anything special, just another place to get on board. The best thing about it is the location. It's nice the National Mall is kind of close. There's lots of close museums. It serves the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines. It's at the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building, so it's a popular line for federal employees. The station isn't terrible but it's not as clean as many others. Lots of tourists find this station convenient. This gets you close to both the American History and Natural History museums. It has a couple of exits. Take the Constitution Avenue exit to go south to the National Mall. Take the Pennsylvania Avenue exit to go north to other stuff. read more

As I write this I am sitting on the metro platform, here at the illustrious Federal Triangle, darn near ready to pass all the way out! Why is it so incredibly hot on this platform? It's a breezy 73 degrees outside, with the most refreshing, cooling mist. As this is a major tourist thoroughfare, should we not leave a better impression on all the tourist, eagerly sowing into the economy of this great Nation's Capital? Not to mention Metro's everyday supporters? How is it possible that my good metro dollars are not being utilized to cool down this hellish platform? Are the constant shutdowns, delays, and extended trackwork not punishment enough? I should pay metro in sweat, sitting also on the brink of unconsciousness?!?!? This metro station is attached to the Ronald Reagan building so it was convenient since I was attending an event there. It's close to the National Mall and is serviced by blue, orange, and silver lines. Also, it's underground which is great during inclement weather or winter. This metro has a mix of locals and tourists but mostly tourists on the weekend. During this visit the tourists seemed to have gotten the memo to stand on the right side of the escalator and leave the left for those wanting to walk up it. Also, good to know, is that it's pretty close to Archives metro so if there are major blue line delays and you're heading back towards, say, Pentagon City, you can walk over to Archives and hop on yellow. read more

Bottom Line: This station is small and easy to navigate and close to the National Mall. In my mind it is easy to confuse the Federal Triangle Metro Station with the Federal Center SW Metro Center. Both are on the Orange/Blue/Silver lines and both have Federal in the name. Additionally, both have the quintessential metro station "features" like dim lighting, red hexagon tile floors, ugly cement acoustic ceilings and the smell of an electric train. That is where the similarities end. This metro station is about one block off of the National Mall underneath the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building which is the current home of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If the EPA doesn't float your boat, as far as touristy stuff goes, this station is very close to both the Smithsonian's American History Museum and Natural History Museum. I went to dc to visit the museum but unfortunately it was rainy, so I was looking for a spot to not get wet so I saw this place in this picture to stand, it was a heavy rain and I was with my old mom she was literally wet so we went their to stand , but to describe this lady ( she was old or middle aged black lady and the Time was 3.52 pm ( Saturday April 15th 2023) yelling at us to not stand anywhere and getout from their with a witch voice tone. I was literally so wet and my mom too but she didn't really care. I mean what happen if we just stand their until the rain stop, we are not destroying anything! but the point is where's the humanity of this lady, are you even a human, why don't you join with the animal, even an animal can understand the situation man. I should take video of her but the situation was so horrible and the rain was so heavy! please, if you see this, please don't act like an animal, you are a human and understand the situation. how would you feel if are on the same situation like us so, don't act like this to others please! I am not a huge fan of metro but it makes traveling through DC easier than driving sometimes. If you are sight seeing or traveling near the mall, this location is convenient. Just pay attention to which side you exit. I like taking pictures inside the station. read more

Quite an interesting station. Smaller than the gargantuan stations around it, and VERY convenient. Exiting the station literally into the building dedicated to our 41st President is really interesting. There was a plaza with a band playing, people eating, conversing, carrying on. A distinctly civilized European feeling. Bike stations near by to allow for car-less living. Around it, Mennonite tourists, foreign visitors, business people, government workers, all enjoying the area. By the wat, there are several Echo Chambers built in the walkways nearby. Interesting find.... And next to the Old Post Office with its massive food court, as well as. Fogo de Chao so the carnivores can get their fill.... read more

Although the Smithsonian Metro is closer to the museums I spent a couple of days in DC visiting, I ended up using this station more often at first just because I was confused. It's fine. It's served by the Blue and Orange Lines. read more

After reading a few reviews of the Metro System in Washington... I have to say... you all don't know how good you have it. I really enjoyed having the Metro available to take us from Dupont Circle to all the touristy things. That's one less car on the road folks... especially one driven by a tourist! Talk about low stress... if you miss your train another will be by in less than 10 minutes... usually closer to 3 minutes. Try waiting 20 minutes for a train on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). Ugh! Way to go Metro. read more

Serves both the blue and orange lines. Decently clean. Two escalators and another that is only one direction and never conveniently directed to go where you need to go. Conveniently below the Reagan Building and underground entrance to the building. Walking distance to lots of stores, restaurants, other federal buildings and monuments. Steer clear during tourist season, ughhh tourists: stand on the right side of the escalator dammit! read more

This is a convenient metro stop for getting to the Reagan Building, Pennsylvania Avenue and the Smithsonian. The walk out of the station is not that long, emptying into the courtyard of the Reagan Building. A couple of decent lunch places are by the exit and you can get all the way out of the station without worrying about rain or snow. The courtyard features live weekday lunchtime concerts in the summer while being tucked away enough keep the tourons at bay. read more

I use this stop to increase my chances of getting a seat when heading home (instead of metro center). The entry is covered with three escalators (whether there will be one or two going in your direction is a guessing game). Like many downtown tourist spots it has a certain amount of tourist/local clashing. Yesterday there were your tourist standing on the escalator (& only one was going down) and commuters were building up and getting annoyed. While I take tourist with a grain of salt I do sometime wish metro gave little impromtu orientations for locals and tourist alike. It would include wonderful pointers like (1) stand on the right of the escalators, (2) keep moving when the escalator ends (don't just stand there, it will get congested and people will get pissy, quickly), (3) spread out on the platform, (4) let people off before you get on, (5) don't stick things in the door to hold them open, while it works sometimes other times it results an off loading (& a lot of pissed off people), etc.... read more

Although this stop is clean, the staff is not very friendly. The DC metro needs updating, as well as their metro cards which often deactivate near your phone. The frustrating part is the staff will not honor the amount on the card. In addition it costs $1 extra for a paper card each way. What a rip off. read more

I like this metro station. Usually not too many tourists, and there is often a performer playing music near the escalator.

This metro station has easy access to the pavilion and the many taste restaurants it has to offert. Not to mention the spectacular view at the top of the tower. read more

There is a gentleman who used to play guitar and sing at the Federal Triangle Metro station during the afternoon rush. He's got a raspy voice a tinny- sounding guitar and a beard. He sounds sort of like Richie Havens has a unique and memorable sound. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to stop and listen but always thought he ought to be performing in a nicer venue. I had also seen him at other Blue Line stations sometimes but haven't seen him in several months. Does anyone know where he's gone? read more
