Samosa Chaat, Sauces and Green Salad

This review is for a delivery we received. We ordered their butter chicken, samosa chaat, garlic naan and what was supposed to be their lamb tikka kahari. My problem is that it definitely was not lamb. It was gamey as all hell and being Jamaican, I can tell goat meat a mile away because it's actually one of my favourite proteins in west Indian cuisine but it's hella seasoned which kills the gamey aftertaste. Lamb is also one of my most favourite proteins as well. I love the flavor of it, whether it's a chop of a leg cut. Everything else was great. Their samosa chaat has chick peas, spices and smashed pieces of samosa. It's perfection. The butter chicken was great, as was the naan. That "lamb" was inedible. It tasted like it had been walking on a farm two seconds prior to being cooked and delivered to our house and again, there was no lamb in that dish and that was a disappointment. We loved it when we dined on premises but if I have to worry about getting what I ordered and paid for just because it's take away, I don't want to go back there. No one likes a bait and switch.

I had tried this place a few years ago, pre pandemic, and was pleased to finally have a nice sit down Pakistani restaurant. After that I ordered take out a few times. Recently after not going there or ordering take out for a few years, I decided to order delivery. I ordered the chicken Karahi & the kebab masala. The Kebab masala was just ok, nothing special at all, and the chicken Karahi was definitely NOT Karahi, it was just some kind of chicken in masala. To be honest the Naan & salad were better than both dishes. Not sure if they are under new management or have a new cook, but we definitely did not enjoy the food this time around. Delivery was on time and the restaurant followed my instructions ( I asked for the chicken Karahi to be made with boneless chicken).

The incomparable Nawab. An absolute must in Westchester County. My husband and I have been coming here for about 8 years. The food is delicious and the service is delightful. Our favorites are the naan bread, the mango lassi, the mixed platter, haki chili chicken and the nawab chicken. Don't miss it!

I can't begin to describe my satisfaction with this place! First and foremost, the food! Why?! Cause it's AMAZING!! Now, I do love Indian cuisine so I admit my bias, however that also gives me permission to admit my desire for satisfying flavor. Well, this place provides it! I've been twice now and both times a hit. First time I had a vegan dish which was delightful with a punch of spice. Second time had butter chicken and well (insert drool emoticon). All of the food is home cooked. Try their naan and you will know exactly how I know this! Due to the special care that goes into home cooking, expect a bit of a delay. I order in advance to eat in the restaurant (insert mad scientist emoticon)!!! The restaurant is cute, a bit cold, and always plenty of space. The music they play is incredible! Frankly I'd stay just to jam out. The waitress is great! Nothing more to say on that. This place has become a staple in my yelp book!

This was our first time trying Indian food and to say the least we were not disappointed. The food was very flavorful and fresh. And the ambiance was lovely as well. Very lovely service and generous servings. We were a party of 3 and had enough to take home. Chicken & Veggie Samosas: very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Generous fillings & comes with an assortment of chutneys and salad for the table. The veggie samosas are pretty spicy. Chicken Tikka Masala: my favorite dish of the evening. Amazing flavorful and succulent chicken. The sauce is delicious with a subtle spice. Butter Chicken: lovely sauce again, very fresh and juicy chicken. Less flavorful than the tikka masala but also a solid choice. More of a very subtle creamy sauce. Daal: very well seasoned and prepared. Garlic Naan: DELICIOUS! We literally couldn't get enough fresh garlic and seasoning served hot and fresh. Mango Lassi: interesting but also very nice. Strong mango & yogurt flavor but not to heavy like a smoothie. Overall we were a party of 3, shared the meal and still had enough to take home.

This is considered samosa chaat to nawab owners....
    Itsme I.

I would give this place no stars! This is their samosa chaat.....no samosas just these freezer made triangles...this is a joke! This cost me 8 dollars! No yogurt no seasoning just plain chickpeas with these small things!

Love the food here and they usually deliver on time. But WTF with this dessert? Paid $4.50 for 2 pieces of gulab jaman. This one is a first. They should have called to say they were out.

For today's dinner we ordered the Paprichat as our appetizer. They also give a crispy fried bread served with chutney and a tamarind sauce as complimentary. The Paprichat is the best damn thing ever! Makhani and Korma are definitely are usual. The Makhani is a wonderful robust creamy tomato sauce which I always recommend for first timers. The Korma is a wonderful creamy sauce made of cashews, yogurt and cardamom. The entrees come with rice but you need to order a side of garlic naan and maybe double it! I love dipping the naan in the sauce. With the char on the naan it just enhances the flavors! We also loveeee getting the Lychee Martini here. They make it perfect. Nice and strong and sweet with a lychee as a garnish is the perfect component for a delicious meal. Can't wait to be back soon!

There is no parking lot, so I had to find metered street parking, which is something to keep in mind when planning to eat here. I started with the Mucho Mango drink, which was prepared really well and tasted great. There was a small issue when my plates arrived, as I noticed a small ant crawling on one of the plates. Mistakes happen, and the staff apologized and promptly brought out fresh plates. The wait was a little longer than expected, but the food made it worthwhile. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and lamb biryani. The food tasted fresh and was full of flavor. The garlic naan was definitely a highlight. It was delicious and paired perfectly with the meal. The chicken tikka masala had a nice sweetness to it and was served with white rice, making it a satisfying dish. The lamb biryani was decent and still tasty overall, although it had a stronger flavor than I preferred. I would definitely consider coming back here to try more of the menu.

For appetizers we ordered potato samosa, they were very flavorful and tasted freshly made. I decided on the main dish that I wanted, the chicken vindaloo with a side of rice. The chicken was good but I do wish it was a bit spicier. Overall the dish had good seasoning and tasted authentic. Per my usual pairing I had a prosecco which made me enjoy my meal even more. The service was good, and the staff was nice. This restaurant has a chill atmosphere and they have parking available on the street, which is great.

Veda 10 Jay St…read more Tenafly, NJ 07670 Papadum Basket Chicken Tikka Masala Garlic Naan This contemporary Indian restaurant is located in the heart of Tenafly, NJ. A supervisor from my job recommended this location and he was right on point. The interior had a nice ambiance and the dining tables had a uniform set up with attractive tablecloths. It was a relief that a spoon was automatically included with the silverware; most restaurants only provide a fork & knife. Papadum Basket: This complimentary appetizer was an excellent start to the meal. The sabudana papad is a bubble wafer with an appearance identical to styrofoam. The traditional papadum is a flat lentil base crisp that kind of reminds me of a flattened looseleaf. Although the shapes of these wafers have different appearance, their taste is superior. They both have a light, crispy texture. A side of spiced tomato chutney compliments the snack. Because the starter tasted this good, I easily predicted the main course was going to be a home run. Chicken Tikka Masala: Chicken is diced into square cubes and smothered in creamy tomato sauce. The sauce was hot & creamy and the chicken was tender. It is one of the most popular dishes in the restaurant. Also included is a side of basmati rice. While I was eating, I ran out and the server gave me another portion. There was no up charge for the second helping. Do not confuse this plate with their "butter chicken" entrée. Although chicken tikka masala is also referred to as butter chicken, the two entrees on this restaurant are not identical. Butter chicken is served in slices and the sauce is different. I asked a server about the difference between the two plates; he told me he was a new hire and did not know the answer. I truly appreciated his honesty and was grateful he got another waiter to assist me instead of trying to answer it without the proper knowledge. Garlic Naan: The naan is the perfect side dish to order with the chicken. It is great for dipping into the sauce. It still tastes excellent on its own because of its soft texture. The up charge is the same whether you order original or garlic flavor. As a bonus, this Indian restaurant is BYOB. If you did not bring any wine or malt liquor, two wine & spirit shops are located footsteps away on Washington St. and Tenafly Rd. This was a perfect dining experience, from the ambiance of the restaurant to the entire meal. The servers were very efficient and it's definitely a great location for family gatherings, date night, or any other event. #veda #contemporaryindiancuisine #chickentikkamasala #vedatenaflynj

The Spinach Soup was a great opener--smooth, well-seasoned, and full of bright, comforting flavor. Shrimp Balchao was the highlight. The Garlic Naan came out fresh from the tandoor--soft, lightly charred, and packed with garlic. Ideal for soaking up all the sauces. Mutter Paneer, with tender paneer and green peas in a spiced masala, was creamy and fragrant without feeling too heavy. A classic dish executed really well. Nani's Chicken Curry featured tender chicken simmered in a flavorful blend of spices and onions, with rich, layered flavors that built with each bite. We called a head since it was 6 of us to see if we could do a walk in or if we needed a reservation , and both options are available which is a plus. Dress attire is your choice we dressed regular nothing fancy just day to day hang out style. We were greeted kindly by the staff sat down handed a set of dominoes to play with while we waited for our food and drank some water. The place is decorated nicely and you can see the vision in mind definitely. We placed our orders and I'm not gonna lie I came in thinking the food was gonna be eh but I was blown away by the flavors. For drinks we ordered a spicy sunset, pretty young thing and cokes. The spicy sunset is a nice strong drink and is rimmed nicely with just the right amount is tajin as you drink it; it has a nice smoky after taste to it definitely was delicious. The pretty young thing was a nice citrusy drink with a little salty aftertaste, which balanced out the flavor nicely. The cokes were not water down they were good as well. For food we ordered the Cuban sandwich with parmesan fries, butter chicken wings, butter chicken macaroni and cheese, steak nachos grande, butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and mom's butter chicken platter. This was a wonderful Spanish and Indian style combination of flavors. Definitely my first time having this type of food and wow what a mind blowing experience. Not one person in the table complained or had anything negative to say about their food. We all tried each other's food and each bite we exchanged to try was delicious and better than the last . The Cuban was delicious but the parmesan fries stole the show from that meal it was paired so lovely who would've thought those flavors would've mixed nicely. The buttery chicken wings oh my God dripping with goodness each bite was legit finger licking good lol. The butter chicken macaroni very very delicious. Had a nice cheese pull and a good balance could not stop eating it. The steak nachos were delicious I wish It had a little more meat, but it was not bad. The butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries also delicious and the fries were cooked so nicely that it was crispy and soft at the same time per bite. The mom's butter chicken platter was delicious they gave the right amount of sauce, the pita bread was delicious and soft, the salad that it was paired with was good too the rice was decently portioned. Everything was definitely tasty. Not one complaint of any of the meals. We did not wait long for the food. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I want to come back to try more things in the menu that's how good the food was and our group agreed to also come back with us. This spot is definitely a place to try. They have a beautiful quote right near the bar that really spoke to us, especially during these times it said "you are exactly where you need to be." It makes you stop for a second and really take it in and just live in the moment ... especially living in New York, where you have to be always go go go fast fast fast. This was really beautifully written thank you to the staff who made our night and our friend's birthday special we'll see you soon.
