This is a quality Indian restaurant in Riverdale. It is a great addition to the neighborhood filled with quality shops and restaurants. I have been here several times when I am craving chicken tikka masala. The food is wonderful with a variety of flavors and colors. I have not had a disappointing experience here in the last couple of years. The inside is very warm and cozy. I love the namaste sign they have up for people to take photos with. This restaurant is usually busy around Diwali times with tons of orders coming in. I ordered the chicken tika masala with naan. Similar to most Indian restaurants you have high prices with smaller portions. Unfortunately that is how it is these days. However the portions that they do have are delicious. I just tried Neem for the first time. I was hesitant since the Indian place that was there before years ago in the same location was flavorless...which is hard to do with Indian. I was not impressed. The chicken masala had not much flavor - to be fair I thought I ordered chicken tikki masala, and was told the only difference was the dark meet instead of white. That said, the sauce had some, but not much flavor. The color was brown instead of the pink or reddish from the tomato. The rice was fine but not great and the naan tasted salty somehow. The samosa also lacked flavor. Overall I would say all of the food was bland. Again not easy to do with Indian food. I don't eat Indian often, but when I'm craving it I want it to be authentic and delicious with the right blend of spices. This was not that. I will say that dealing with them was easy, and the food was ready quickly and at the time they said it would be for pickup. read more

I really like the salmon tandoori, however, the portions are very small for the price; I was still hungry after finishing my meal. My piece of fish was tiny (barely 3oz) and I had, maybe a half cup of rice... Disappointing to say the least. My best friend and I recently went to eat here. It was both our first time eating Indian food. It was amazing!! The owner Nandy was a lovely host and made everyone feel at home. Her and husband own the restaurant. We ordered veggie samosas, yummy. They were baked not deep fried. We shared mix grill tandoori, it came with rice and we also ordered nan bread. I was excited about visiting this place. It was in my neighborhood, and it's been on my radar for a while. After having some curry from this thai restaurant I recently visited, I wanted to try some other curries from different cultures. So I took the opportunity to visit this place among the many Indian restaurants in my area. The restaurant is small but beautiful. I really love the decor of the place and how the tables are set up with its own decor, even the bar area is cute, with such a beautiful chandelier hanging from above. The customer service was ok, and because I wasn't dining in, I'm sure it would have been better had I stayed, but I was ordering to go. The guy who was assisting me did help with all of the questions I had, and after many questions, this is what I ordered. Appetizer- Poori & Shrimp Entree- Chicken Curry (Vindaloo) spicy Drink - Indian iced tea I have to say, I love me some spicy food, but that chicken curry was FIRE! I like spicy food with flavor. This was just too spicy for no reason, all that spice with no flavor. It was a disappointment. I will say I enjoyed the Poori and Shrimp, more of the Poori, I think the shrimp was overcooked and to small, and also from the pictures I viewed of Yelp, my Poori looked nothing like the previous Poori others may of have had. My iced tea was just ok, as well. It tasted like something I could have made at home. I probably should have gone with the coffee, but I really wanted to try the tea. So my overall opinion of the place is that it's OK. I'm not running to make a return, and I didn't like that the menu has a price for one thing, but you pay another because everything you buy from here is taxed. EVERYTHING! Got the samosas - they were perfect! The naan was good especially if you are craving it and I truly believe you need it when you get a sauced dish! Butter chicken was the main event! I went early (5:30p) on a Saturday evening to avoid crowds and the place was mostly empty. The service is welcoming and cordial. We were served the food within a few minutes (maybe too quickly...). The chicken tikka and the butter chicken are basically the same. The butter chicken is supposed to be slightly sweeter, but I didn't notice any difference. It was well prepared (and definitely spicier than expected, although I asked for mild). The meat was tough, though. Veggie special: okra and spinach paneer: worth ordering and enough to feed you. Happy hour: $4 beers/wine. Overall, we weren't blown away. What we ordered was ok, but nothing to write home about. I'd probably return to taste something else (the menu is huge). read more

I enjoyed my experience dining at Neem. The space itself is very beautiful and intimate. The staff are very friendly and the service was great! We ordered a variety of different items. Some of the highlights were the Indian iced tea. This was surprisingly very good. It's flavored with lots of warm spices and is refreshing. I also was a fan of the vegetable samosas. I ordered the saag paneer for my entree. It was a bit lukewarm so I didn't enjoy it as much. Overall, I really enjoyed Neem. The locals here seem to really love it as well! My first time having Indian food ever and I was blown away. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and vegetable samosa. When I received the food my mouth actually started watering, just from the smell. Chicken Tikka masala was definitely the star of the show. Absolutely phenomenal. I did enjoy the naan and vegetable samosas too. There was a green sauce that came with the order that I used on samosas which elevated their taste. Everything was packaged well. Good portions. I've eaten there several times since it opened. The food quality has declined greatly while prices rose. The food feels Americanized. It's not traditional. I recently ordered a Thali. It came on a cafeteria tray with rice and naan more plentiful than the two small entree portions. No sides other than one. That's not how Thali is prepared nor presented worldwide. I had lunch there a year ago and was really unimpressed by both portion size and lack of authentic taste. I won't be back. Rarely see South Asians in this restaurant--a telltale sign. As close and delicious as this restaurant is, this was my first dine-in experience, which was pleasant. The space is comfortable and it's easy to come by and relax for a bit -- no one is rushing you out of the door immediately after you finish your meal. I ordered the Masala Fries and the Chicken Saag. On the fries, there needs to be a lot more seasoning on these; would probably recommend to avoid ordering as they are not very crispy, salty, or flavorful. Looking at my photo, you'll see not much seasoning, but of course this is an easy fix for the restaurant. This is actually my second time ordering these and it was the same case last time. Excellent addition to the neighborhood. I came today for lunch with my family and was very impressed. The restaurant is waiting on a liquor license so right now it's byob which was nice. We ordered the lunch specials and the amount of food that came with it was impressive. Everything was fresh and delicious. This place is absolutely WONDERFUL! The smell when you walk in will stimulate your senses. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and they are following COVID related guidelines well. My girlfriend and I started off with the Banana Pakora (fried banana) and the Cheese Poori (similar to a cheese empanada) and these were absolutely delicious, especially paired with the 3 sauces they give you (green, dark red, and a chunky red sauce). For drinks I had the Masala Chai and my girlfriend had the hot Spiced Coffee. Both drinks were very flavorful and paired extremely well with our appetizers and entrees. Speaking of entrees, I ordered the special (Lamb Tikka Masala with the Peanut Sauce) and my girlfriend got the Lamb Madras, extra spicy, along with some rice and 2 garlic Naans. Everything was so full of flavor, spices, and portioned very well. The dishes had a kick but weren't as spicy as we expected. I thought it was a perfect heat balance with the flavors at hand. All the food went well with the provided sauces (try all 3; my favorite was the green Coriander sauce). All the food came out quickly too. The inside of the restaurant is also very clean and well maintained with a simple yet elegant interior design. Overall we were highly satisfied with everything. Neem has been open in the neighborhood for a while but I hadn't had a chance to stop by. Recently on Nextdoor somebody posted complaining about the restaurant because they didn't get their order to their liking. Many people posted comments contradicting the whiny complaint, so I finally came over here and gave it a try since the rave reviews outnumbered the one complainer - and my husband and I were not disappointed. A lot of people spoke highly of the lunch special - and for $12.95 you get a ton of food. I got the chicken masala, my husband the shrimp masala. We both enjoyed our lunches and the iced tea they throw in with the meal is excellent. The decor in the restaurant is cute - they definitely changed the space up from the former occupant (also an Indian food place) and it was very bright and colorful. They even have an insta-worthy "Namaste" neon sign wall. They also get points for having the cutest outdoor dining setup on Johnson Avenue. It was pouring rain today, so we opted to eat inside. Tables are either spaced appropriately or have barriers if necessary. We went for a late lunch and were the only people eating in. Even if it was a full house I would feel comfortable eating there. Middling, overpriced food -- very little meat in curries, 2/3 the tandoori you'd get elsewhere, an order of pickle is $3.50 for an ounce (I weighed it), and the naan is microwaved. Better places nearby. Edit to respond: Naan was microwaved -- no doubt it was made properly, but it was reheated in a microwave before delivery. No mistaking that rubbery texture. Lamb vindaloo was mostly sauce with very little meat... soup, not stew. Chicken tandoori had, as stated, 2/3 the meat usually received when ordered elsewhere in the area. And no refund was offered for the 1oz of pickle -- I was told ask for a refund from Seamless. If it were just about the pickle ripoff, I'd not post on Yelp, but the rest of the food was truly disappointing and there are better places. Record straight. read more

Overall, pretty good! I can't say anything about the interior of the restaurant since my review is solely based on delivery. I've tried this place twice, and had the same experience both times. The food is pretty good. They give you a decent portion, and it's very filling. So far I've had Paneer tiki masala, chicken vindaloo, rice pudding, chili garlic naan, and their jasmine rice. Their paneer and vindaloo were very nice. Full of flavor, piping hot, and clearly made me want more. Their naan was so good. Warm, doughy, great flavor, and a very big piece. Out of all the things I've tried, I've only had issues with their rice and their rice pudding. All of their other dishes were pretty spot on. However their rice in both situations lacked flavor. It seemed a bit of one note instead of the spiced flavors I'm used to. I don't really blame their rice pudding for being a bit off.
