So I decided to order take out from here never again the food was trash. Never taste Indian food this bad before everything was bad.

If you've worked in food service, you probably know that whenever you'd like to issue a complaint, the little voice inside tells you "Hey jackass, you sound just like one of those customers." Today I have to. Today I made a Yelp account. A YELP account. This is basically the complaint app. Let me tell you how I got here- The Curry Spot was there for me during a low moment a few nights ago. I ordered the Lamb Curry extra hot, some garlic naan, and the lentil soup. Was it good? No. It was aggressively fine, though. Good enough. Curry was hot, but not extra hot, and not bursting at the seams with flavor like most good curry I've had. Naan was similarly unremarkable. So why did I order a second time? The lentil soup. Maybe I give lentil soup too much credit for its ability to pull me out of a funk, but I don't think so. I genuinely enjoyed this soup, and it heated up well the next day. It was good enough that I decided to order it again tonight. Except they sent me a different soup. The one thing I was looking forward to, they botched on the delivery. But no use crying over erroneously served soup, right? So I called the restaurant. My first inkling that something was wrong was the phone line cutting in and out. I've never heard of a landline passing through a dead zone, but that's what it sounded like. I could only make every other word of the manager's voice. But I pushed on. I told him the phone wasn't clear. Tried to explain that my order was incorrect. Imagine my surprise, when every other word that came through the shoddy phone line was shouted at me. From what I was able to piece together, it was my fault (even though I'd "rapid reordered" the original order). And I was wrong. The soup that I was looking at, which contained no lentils, was in fact lentil soup. I pleaded. I just had this soup the past two nights, I know what it's supposed to look like, I told them. They told me in order to get my correct soup, I'd have to bring it in to show them in person. Then he hung up. Fellow complainants of Yelp- if I had to take an Uber to their restaurant to get my correct order after spending nearly $100 at their establishment, the newspapers tomorrow would have had their way with me. "Suspect wanted in Soup Related Slapping Incident", or "Curry Fury", I don't know, I'm sure they'd workshop something. So anyway, here I am instead, channeling my anger into this review. Want to know the worst part? I made the mistake of looking at other reviews when I got here. To the owner of the establishment- you can't yell at people, be a crook, AND have roaches. And thank your lucky stars that I enjoy writing more than I enjoy being incarcerated. read more

OMG! The food is on point ! Amazing!! I ordered the Tanndori chicken it was soo good and juicy. It reminds me of Rotisserie chicken with extra extra flavor. I didn't see cheese Nan in the menu but they were so sweet and did it anyway for me. It was sooo good. Mango lassi 10/10. & they gave me a free dessert that i haven't tried it. I honestly don't know what those negative reviews was about but they did there thing today ‍ I'll be back !!! read more

I actually never knew this location existed until yesterday afternoon, when I was looking for a new place to order from DoorDash. In short, this place was very good and affordable, but there are other Indian options in the area that I think I would rather stick to. I ordered mango lassi, garlic naan, chicken bhuna, and chicken tikka masala. I want to start off by saying that I absolutely loved the thickness of the mango lassi. It was perhaps the thickest mango lassi that I have ever had and I enjoyed the texture of the yogurt that was used for the drink. The mango lassi should definitely not be missed here. The garlic naan here was decent and was a good size. I like to dip my naan in the sauce of the chicken that I ordered. Between the Chicken Bhuna and the Chicken Tikka Masala, I would choose the Chicken Tikka Masala anytime. I personally felt that the Chicken Bhuna was greasy and that detracted from my enjoyment of the meal. The Chicken Tikka Masala was pretty good, though. It was definitely on the sweeter side. If the meal were spicier, I would have enjoyed it even more. It is good to know that I now have another Indian food option when I am in the area. However, I will stick to ordering from my usual Indian place for food when I am in the area. read more

First 2 time they didn't even give my Chana Puri and give me mix pickle instead of mango pickle, yet they charge me all of it. and 3rd time was today i order 70 dollars food. they send me naan which cost 2.95 and it was burn and half of the bread was gone... i couldn't eat at all. Next, i order Biryani which was 18.95 but they force me get extra rice for 6.00 dollar (keep in mind was ordering from Uber eats) without adding the 6.00 dollar extra rice i can't put the order for the Biryani at all.. what the hell.. it's like ripping off your costumer. why do i need extra rice with Biryani ? i don't get the logic. well, this will be my last time ordering from this place. i recommend people to not order from this place at all. read more

For a local Indian restaurant it's good. We didn't eat in but the space looks nice for dining in which they recently set up. THe breads are good: onion kulcha, garlic naan and keema naan. Soft and fresh- good for scooping up the food. Favorite was lamb tika masala and chicken korma. Ordered medium hot and it was a nice heat that wasn't overwhelming. My dining partner enjoyed his tandoori mixed grill also. The vegetable biryani was fine. We weren't crazy about the malai kofta. - it was somewhat like a mushy meatball. The guys there are super nice and even gave extra rice and rice pudding on the house. Mango lassi was a good compliment to our meal. Definitely would order again when get that craving for Indian food when don't want to travel to Queens. read more

Stopped by on a Friday night for Indian pickup. A mistake. Here we go: - appy was supposed to be simple blocks of bite size cheese. I got hunks of cheese in red dye and oil with Little taste outside of the heat - shrimp tandoori was the culprit. Shrimp dish was bordering a return trip as the shrimp were not the snap fresh texture that they should have been. Ate'em and paid for it the entire Friday night into Saturday morning. - veggie Biryani was OK - two of the three condiments that come with most dishes were rancid. How does this happen with spiced condiments? They are salted and seasoned ... you'd have to really skirt the line on temp storage for this to go bad. Next time I'm in Woodlawn, I'll get Irish curry from the pub to satisfy my Indian craving. Will never return. read more

Here's why: The food was beyond excellent despite numerous delivery orders when we ate at the restaurant for dinner.... buuuttttttt when we ordered delivery, the naans weren't cooked, they were doughy and really really bad, but the navrattan korma and other curries were amazing. Ordered takeout tonight from Curry Spot. Let's start with the saying "You get what you pay for!" Very disappointing to say the least. We ordered Goat Vindaloo, Lamb Tikka Masala, Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken), Shrimp Masala (appetizer), and Garlic Naan. The menu says the vindaloo is Hot I'm still waiting for some heat from the dish and only 5 chunks of goat meat. The containers for all the dishes were just sauce. The lamb and chicken had great flavoring and thankfully more meat than the vindaloo. The shrimp appetizer was also disappointing. Never have I had a restaurant serve mini shrimp, probably about 12 in the dish. Would be nice to mention they aren't full sized shrimp. The garlic naan was great. Too bad it wasn't cut before being packed in the tin foil. Won't order from here again. I'll stay with Spice Village in Tuckahoe more bang for the money. read more

This place is excellent. I usually go for the Madras but the korma's good too. Not very spicy by default but if you ask for it to be spicier they oblige. The samosas are nice as well but the naan bread is absolutely superb. It's a bit pricey but the portions are big enough to get two meals out of. read more

I come here a lot since moving to the neighborhood. They are very friendly, but service is slow. They accommodate for dietary needs. The naan is always perfectly crispy. The rice is just ehhh. I've asked to replace the rice with naan to which they said no, even if I were willing to pay a little extra. The saag paneer is good. The chicken tikka masala is good. The rice pudding is not like the Indian sweet rice I'm used to so I wouldn't get it again, but it might just be me. read more

Let me tell you something about Woodlawn that you probably already know...it's extremely Irish. So Curry Spot could be ehhh and but still clean up since it's the only Indian show in town. HOWEVER, they have an extensive menu with any kind of meat you want and each sauce and preparation has been absolutely delicious. Beware that even the mild has a decent zest to it and hot is actually very hot. The prices are a little high compared to other places in the area but they don't skimp on the meat. Get the tikka stuffed naan, samosas, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala in particular, but really you can get anything and it will be tasty. read more

I've been wanting to try this place as someone who lives nearby and is an easy to please Indian food connoisseur. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Veggie Samosa and Garlic Naan. 5 stars for it all. It was hot and fresh and the portions were just amazing for the price. The Chicken Tikka Masala came with a side of basmati rice and Samosas came with a small side of chutney. It hit so perfectly on a rainy day where everything else had been going wrong for me. Very rude employees! Horrible customer service. Came in smiling and asking if I could place and order and the guy was like "WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT." He was annoyed because he was mopping and interrupted him? Look it's not my fault you were mopping the floors and it was wet. Should have did that shit last night or before you opened! Meanwhile there was a customer already sitting down and eating. You need to learn how to treat people. Mop your fucking restaurant before you open or close the damn door, or say "Miss I can take your order or can you wait outside a minute?" IS IT THAT HARD TO BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING?! Went there a time or two before that. The food doesn't even taste they great for you to have such an attitude. Tiki Masala is decent but not Anything to write home about. The curry spot comes through in the clutch. I have many allergies and HATE pub food which is plentiful in Woodlawn so when it coms to a spot to grab something quick it is slim pickings. The staff is very nice, the restaurant is a little dingy on the inside but over all its not too bad and pretty clean for the most part! They are always so nice about telling me which dishes have dairy in them and they have offered to make with out dairy for me as well. So the accommodation factor is good. They seem to have a pretty good take out and delivery business as the phone is always ringing. As for the food it is decent , always comes out hot and the past three times I have been every time has been better than the last so I am happy that it is consistent. This is a go to place. Never had issues in the many times I've gone. Place is always clean and they are fast, but not the fast that makes you think their food is from a prepackaged microwave pack. If you do delivery it usually takes an hour. Always worth it! Always alway always get the Kati chicken, hold the chicken! Not that their chicken isn't good but my vegetarian ways (except when I'm not, #flexitarian) keeps the chicken out. Which is totally worth it cause you get more of that SAUCE!! Soooooooooo good! Incredibly creamy and delicious. They provide plenty of rice. Toss in a few cashews (from my own pantry) and you are ready to go. What's great about asking for no chicken is they give you more of the sauce. They ain't no bar, if you know what I mean. The old, "hold the ice trick," never works :( But this place does. I'm a regular of this place but the last time I ordered they decided to add a new & pretty expensive delivery fee (I've never been charged before). My husband and I order from here when we crave Indian food but I don't feel like cooking. We've ordered a bunch of entrees from here and have a mix of good and bad experiences taste wise. We mainly order the vegetarian or chicken dishes. The vegetarian dishes are always simple but good tasting. From the chicken dishes our most memorable one is the kati chicken. We went to the actual place to eat once instead of getting it delivered and it was quite spacious and in a safe neighborhood. So if you don't want to wait 1hr after ordering on the phone, it won't hurt to drive 10min to eat at the actual restaurant. read more

Some of the worst customer service I have experienced. The last time I ordered from them it took 2 hours to deliver the food. I called after the first hour and was told it would be 10 more minutes. I was called 30 minutes later and instructed to wait downstairs for my food, waited 15 minutes and then went back upstairs. It took 2 hours for delivery. Today, I ordered delivery again, called them after an hour and 10 minutes, and was told it would be 10 more minutes. Then I was called back ten minutes later and told it would be half an hour at the very least, at which point I cancelled my order. Instead of apologizing, I heard excuses about it not being their fault and there was a problem with the delivery driver. I understand things happen, but this is two times in a row and they only called me to update me because I told them I wouldn't be home for another half an hour. To prepare for a trip to India, I went with my mother to Curry Spot for some training of the palate. It is much more flavorful than most Indian food I have come across, and the menu is EXTENSIVE. Which, is wonderful because it seems to me (now that i've returned from the east) that they have many foods from different regions of India. Including different types of bread. And boy do I love bread. Paratha is delish, it's like an Indian version of a croissant, you peel it apart. My favorite drink of all time (regardless of Indian roots) is mango lassi, but vying for a close second is lime juice with seltzer. I'm not certain about the ordering capabilities of the lime juice but that mango lassi....you should get a pitcher. Maybe two. (Although I don't think they serve them in pitchers). If you're coming for Indian food, you most likely know what you like already. But I can assure you that I've tried a few dishes and they've all been good so don't fear trying something new. read more

Last night I asked the waiter, "Did you just open?" He looked befuddled and said, "We've been open for six years." How did I not know this gem of a restaurant existed?!! Hands down the best mango lassi ever. My fiancé hadn't tried one before, for shame, and was pleasantly surprised. It didn't taste overly syrupy or artificial. The food was really hot and everything tasted freshly made. We ordered saag paneer, chicken korma, garlic naan, which was bananas, and veggies samosas. The samosas were so flaky and hot all the way through. It's BYOB and accessibly by bus, take the BX31. Now that I know it's 5 minute from my apartment, I will definitely become a regular.
