I recently completed a major renovation of my kitchen, master bathroom, and powder room following a…read morewater damage claim, and I couldn't be happier that I chose Coast to Coast. I'm the type of person who is very specific about what I want and I did my homework. I got four different bids for this project, and C2C was the clear winner. Their quote was completely itemized--which I appreciated--and ended up being well under every other retail bid I received. Two people really made the difference: Mary and Bolo. Mary is a literal pro when it comes to the insurance side of things. She worked tirelessly on the supplements to ensure we maximized our RCV payout from our insurance. She caught things the adjuster missed and helped us get the settlement we actually needed to do the job right. Bolo, the project manager, was extremely responsive and reasonable throughout the entire build. Whenever a technical issue came up--even complex stuff like electrical circuit stability or specific plumbing heights--he was there to talk it through and get it handled. One thing I will say for people considering them: you need to be the kind of homeowner who has the capacity to stay on top of the work. If you know exactly what you want and you're willing to stay involved in the day-to-day details, C2C is an incredible solution. It's a partnership, and because I stayed engaged, we were able to hit a level of quality that usually costs twice as much. The house looks amazing (see the photos of the Blue Thunder Quartzite and the Jade tile!). They were fair, they were fast, and most importantly, they were responsive. Highly recommend if you want high-end results without the "luxury markup" of other firms.

This is the second water leak mitigation & restoration we've done with C2C and while the PM on the…read morerestoration portion was outstanding this time, overall, there were more issues with the mitigation than last. Specifically, they subbed out the demo portion to another company which incurred more costs and thus lead to rejection of payment by insurance company. Or rather, it was ruled as costs extending beyond ordinary expenses. Had it been included with the mitigation equipment, the insurance would've likely accepted it, as it did last time. The actual work performed by everyone was great in the end, just as it had been last time. Everything was remediated properly and more importantly, timely. Brandon the PM on mitigation along with David the PM on the restoration side were great, with David being the most responsive and communicative PM I've ever worked with. Meaning, updates everyday, as promised. That was the best part of the whole project for me as an anxious homeowner. I will say that my own insurance agent didn't help matters either in this case. He was super hard to work with and eventually C2C had trouble reaching him. This also soured the whole experience as everyone worked to track him down by phone and to prove that all expenses were legitimate. I'm on the fence as to whether to use C2C again for mitigation. Would not hesitate to use them for restoration though.

Avoid this company like the plague. They don't back their work up, and any shortcoming will be your…read morefault. The short version: we hired Lumina to fix a leak and repair water damage. They decided the cause was a failing shower pan, replaced it, and assured us the problem was solved, but they never ran water through the drain to confirm the pipe itself wasn't leaking. Two weeks after our final payment, the leak came back in the exact same spot. When I raised it, the project manager's defense was that we'd only asked them to fix the pan, not the leak. We didn't. We asked them to fix the leak - they're the ones who decided the pan was the culprit, and they're trying to leave us on the hook. In April, we identified a leak coming from our shower. We've been in this house just shy of 3 years, the shower pan creaked as you stepped on it, so when a bubble appeared in the first floor ceiling below it, we were disappointed but maybe not surprised. We reached out to several companies for quotes, and ultimately moved forward with Lumina. The first picture shows that leak. We had a less expensive quote, but based on the questions they asked and the answers they gave, Lumina appeared to be more competent. They could also perform more of the work themselves, while other companies wanted us to address the various problems piecemeal. They agreed to perform all of the work except the shower enclosure replacement. This included demo, rebuilding the shower pan, retiling the shower, and replacing and repainting the damaged section of ceiling. Their quote was a little over $9k, plus a couple hundred for tile and about 2 thousand for the shower enclosure. We specifically requested an inspection. While Tal, our project manager, expressed confidence in their ability to do hot mops, we wanted to minimize the risk of future problems. He agreed and we paid our inspection fees. With the inspection fees, the project came in at just over $12k. Once the project started, Tal proved a poor and intemperate communicator: he balked when I asked what days workmen were coming, and turned hostile when I pushed to understand the next steps. His foreman, Eric, smoothed things over and kept me informed. I was surprised when they closed the ceiling before the new shower pan was validated. I'd expected that they'd want to see the pipes drain before closing it up, but I trusted their judgement. This was a mistake. To their credit, Eric was patient in explaining their findings. The previous owners had completed what can only be described as a ramshackle repair, stuffing a 2x4 in a hole rather than replacing plyboard. He showed me pictures of a hole, and I believed his assessment that they'd root-caused the leak. This seemed convincing to me, a homeowner with no plumbing experience. Inspections were underwhelming. I expected that an inspector would perform them. Instead, they performed them, and said they sent a text message to the inspectors. The test of the shower pan is to fill it with water, stop the plug, and wait 24 hours. In the morning of the first "inspection", the shower pan was empty - they said they'd incorrectly stopped the drain. I was pressured to accept this as a successful inspection, despite it completely failing. I pushed back, and they ran a second trial which passed. An actual city inspector came only after the shower glass was installed, and he did not validate anything with water. We made our last payment on June 2. On June 17, we found a new blister with evidence of moisture in the exact same place as the previous one - that's the last picture. A moisture meter read 30% moisture 10 hours after the latest shower, and 10% elsewhere. I texted Tal with a picture and details, asking for a call tomorrow. He instead called within a couple minutes, immediately defensive, claiming that I'd told him it was the shower pan and they'd fixed it, it'd passed inspections, there was no chance this was their fault or that they should address the problem. I asked him to sleep on it - my expectation was that in the morning, he'd acknowledge that this was at least something he should investigate before making an assessment. Maybe they'd take responsibility, or at least do the repair at cost. He remained defensive and adamant. I lost my temper that our $12k fix had barely made it 2 weeks, and I started writing this review. Tal has insisted that I asked them to fix the shower pan, not the leak. This is incorrect - they're the ones who determined the pan was at fault and fixed it. They had good reason to believe the pan was the problem, but they never validated that the drain pipe itself drained without leaking. And, $12k poorer, I still have a leak and a project manager who refuses to accept any responsibility. If you want a company that cuts corners, has it in tight with the city inspectors, and will leave you on the hook, then Lumina Builders is the company for you.
