First, they will push whatever the local pharmaceutical rep is selling. Once you find out that's not covered by insurance, they'll send another prescription to the pharmacy. Then they'll take 2-3 weeks to send the authorization, during which time the pharmacy will drop your standing prescription. I have been to the pharmacy multiple times, called the Dr's office multiple times, spoken with my insurance multiple times, and still do not have my prescription after waiting for 2 months. They milk your insurance, push pharma rep preferred name brands (likely with kickbacks), and don't really care how long it takes to get your medication to you. I eventually gave up and will now have to start the process over with another urologist. Save yourself and headache and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Quite possibly the worst experience I have had with any medial office.

This I knew because Georgia Urology did my procedure seven years ago. So he wanted to put in a new stent, I told him a day before the procedure do not under any circumstances. So he didn't and it's a miracle "all the stones" were removed this time... So I was called in early for the procedure, and prepped immediately to go back, I was so happy. Only to find out the wait was indefinite, about 90 min. The nurses were tired of me asking so they decided to turn up the music at the nurses station, very rude. When I arrived financial acknowledged they felt bad about my night in the ER! As they should but it was nice of her to say. She was the most competent person I dealt with in the entire office. So they remove the stent/stones and I nearly bled to death when the nurse took out the IV. There's a lot of incompetence and greed. The doctor has the knowledge but chooses the most expensive way to remove stones. I feel like this is a pill mill, but for surgical procedures....so they can over charge you and your insurance company. I'm a little guy, but I believe I need to do more than write reviews about this. This is too serious. They are getting away with neglect and bad practices, maybe even more.... If you have had a bad surgical, or billing experience with Advanced Urology, I would like to hear your story! If you haven't, save your time, money and maybe your life by going somewhere else.

Everything went well from the ease of scheduling appointments to check out. She introduced herself and gave a bit of background about herself and the purpose of her role during his visit. She asked thorough questions and repeated his responses back to him for clarification. Dr. Shapiro came in 10 min after she entered the notes. He was very nice and polite. He asked follow-up questions that Octavia had previously asked for clarification on. He explained thoroughly why my dad was on specific medications and their role. He ordered bloodwork in which it was done in-house. He also ordered imaging (PET scan) and prescription refills. The Phlobotomist was sweet and funny! She and my dad hit it off well. She suggested he drink more water considering it was difficult to find a vein. My dad says well may I should have had a glass of wine! . She laughed and stated that it would not be a good idea As previously stated check out was good. On the way home I received a call from the office scheduling the PET scan. We were able to get the day/time we wanted. All in all, it was a very good visit! I'm very pleased with the staff and Dr. Shapiro. If you or a family member needs a Urologist, give them a call. From my understanding, there are other locations.

This practice is part of Advanced Urology, who has offices in Snellville (main), Decatur, and Johns Creek. They also have a great patient portal available to all patients. I saw Dr. Prabharasuth in the Decatur office for a second opinion on a surgical need and a medical issue and he was far superior to the other physician I saw from another practice. The only issue is that for surgery, I have to go the Snellville surgery center because the Decatur surgery center is not in-network with Ambetter. NPWH=The office staff, doctors, phone operators, billing department, and everyone in between are RIDICULOUSLY nice. I totally recommend this group to anybody.

This is my first time writing on a blog but I felt compelled to go on record and tell everyone that he is the Greatest Urologist out there. I also want to give kudos to his staff. Twenty-one minutes and quite literally more than one hundred answers later there is no indication of how much more there is to answer, so I hand back the tablet and tell them "I'm done with this." When the medical assistant calls me back she is already pissed off about something, and I'm thinking it's me. She cuffs me for blood pressure but it fails. I ask her if I've done anything to offend her, even though I had just then met her, and she blames it on frustration with administration. She calms down and says, "So you're here for a prostate issue?" I have no idea what she's talking about. "No, I'm here for Erectile Dysfunction. Why does it say 'Prostate'"? She has more frustration with administration. She shakes my hand and more formally introduces herself as a sort of reset. No problem. So then she starts asking the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS I already painstakingly answered on the tablet! "Then why did I take all that time answering all these questions on the tablet in the waiting room?" Excuses for systems that won't talk to each other. BUT WAIT -- THERE'S MORE! If you act before midnight tonight, you get a FREE BONUS PRIZE of one pissed-off Urologist who tries to run through questions about my Old Fella like I'm a roll-your-eyes annoyance and the bane of his existence! The very first thing he starts talking about is medications like Viagra, etc. I remind him of the spreadsheet I gave him of the 22 medications I take, which includes Nitroglycerine, Gabapentin, Amlodipine, etc. He didn't even review the list before he saw me! If he had, he would likely focus on the Gabapentin and possibly one or more of the other medications I take as the root cause, or at least a contributing factor, of my John Thomas acting more like Salvador Dalì. (This next part I need to be discreet for the sake of Yelp and Yelpers alike, and not because I'm embarrassed -- obviously) He started pressuring me to answer a question that only my wife could answer accurately, so I told him I needed to call her. HE CRITICIZED ME FOR NOT KNOWING THE ANSWER MYSELF! He finally relents to letting me make the call, but by that time I was ready to say "See You Next Tuesday" and leave. I told him I was not comfortable with the way I'd been treated since I got there, so he starts stacking my forms in a huff and says "That's fine" and leaves in a second, new and improved huff. Now let's see if he charges me a New Patient Visit (he said he wouldn't). I'm a handicapped senior citizen with lots of medical problems who is trying to get back to Normal, and I'm scared that I can't. I'm really scared, and I'm trying my best to get this problem solved. I should not have been mistreated like this. There was no excuse for any of this. I got a different Urologist reference so I'm going to make an appointment with them today.

They truly cared about me as a patient and as a person. I moved to Knoxville, TN about 2 months ago for work. I've been seeing my previous urologist in NJ for years for my urological issues. My urological issues are embarrassing to me and it is very difficult for me to find the right person I'm comfortable with for treatment. I couldn't find anyone in Knoxville that could help my specific issue and that I was comfortable with as well. I did some research and I found Dr. Cornell and saw he had lots of experience with my issue and offered the same kind of treatments as my previous doctor. At my appointment today I felt extremely comfortable with Dr. Cornell. I was surprisingly more comfortable with him than my previous urologist I've seen for years. He is very nice and listens well. He offers excellent advice. And his treatment was even better and more effective than my NJ urologist as well. I am doing so much better right now and I'm grateful. I have to drive 3 hours each way to see Dr. Cornell but it is worth it to me. He is now my official urologist and I will be seeing him regularly. I am extremely grateful and relieved that I found him. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a urologist. Honestly I believe he is the best doctor and this is the best doctor office I've ever been to. Please check him out. He will help you. Thank you Dr. Cornell and Kim. - Christopher Neller

Once I got there and gave his office manager my paperwork, I only had to wait long enough for her to photocopy my license and insurance and start a chart, which took no more than 10 minutes. I was taken back quickly, and waited no more than 10 minutes again to see Dr. Cornell himself. Dr. Cornell was EXTREMELY thorough, and looked over my past history, looking for anything that could help him piece together a picture of what was going on with me; which I really appreciated. He answered every question (even if I accidentally asked more than once), made sure I knew exactly what was going on, and took as much time as I needed to understand his conclusions, course of treatment, and the reasoning behind it. Dr. Cornell listened and made sure he understood exactly what I was saying before coming to any conclusions or making a diagnosis. It was so wonderful to have a doctor that really listened and spent time with me. I cannot say enough about my experience with Dr. Cornell today.
