I didn't give it 5 stars because even though they're really nice and friendly, the staff don't know a lot about beer, wine, and booze (if you want someone knowledgeable, go to the "sister" store I mentioned above; owned by the same family--at least, as of this writing). It is the only grocery store within about a 10 mile radius and because of that their prices are quite a bit higher than the average grocery store. They have a nice hot bar where you can get fried chicken most any day and especially during the lent season they fry up haddock on Fridays! That said, the quality of the food is not consistent yesterday 5pm, I went to pick up fried haddock for my family and they had no hot sides! Usually there's mac & cheese, string beans, kale, potato wedges or the lake but this time the only offering was coleslaw, potoator salad or pasta salad Which looked as though they've been sitting there for several days!!!! They sell a lot of small portion meats, fruits, vegetables, and frozen items that are great for the area as there's a lot of single and senior people who reside there and its easy to get to. All and all if you need something quick, you can run in and run out, but if you're looking for premade hot food, you may want to think about going elsewhere. Store is always clean and things are generally in stock with a few specials. Rolands could do better by paying more for a kitchen manager and revising their overall prices.

Ten minutes later, our server said there was a problem. What? The bartender told her there was no entry on the computer for a drink with both vodka and gin. She tried to steer me to another drink. I told her that I and others have been drinking a split Martini for at least 50 years. I told her that wasn't my problem, it was theirs. They figured it out. Also, they were embarrassed to report that they had no crab dishes of any sort. This was January, so, while I understand that live crabs are still sleeping at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay (that the restaurant sits on the edge of) we all know there are many sources of crab meat. Even if frozen properly (not in a frost-free freezer) the crab will not suffer a lot. Then, there are also crabs from the Gulf of Mexico. Other than these two challenges -- one solved, one not -- it was a nice first visit. I did find that the lighting over the bar -- individual unshaded bulbs -- were hard on my eyes from our table in the dining room, but I just moved to the other side of the table. Problem solved.
