What a hidden gem. One of my work colleagues heard I was coming to Greenville and recommended this place. We had a bit of trouble finding it and honestly thought it was closed when we walked up. We ordered the bacon popcorn and the trio of dips. I thought the portions were very generous and they gave us plenty of pita for our dips and refilled it without charging us for the additional pita. We ordered our first drinks off of the menu but then asked the young lady for a recommendation and she hit it out of the park. Best recommendation ever. My new favorite drink New York Cherry Sour. The music is spot on and I love the dim lights and entire vibe. Highly recommend this place if you are in Greenville. read more

So we finally got around to checking this place out. Not impressed at all. First thing I noticed was the lock box on the front door? So we walked down the stairs and it's dark, which always makes me wonder what are they hiding? Secondly we found a seat and we noticed this place has a weird smell like antiseptic and moldy basement smell, not good. After a few minutes the waitress brings over the menu. While we were waiting my wife looked up the menu on their website and found a drink that she liked. Well we went to order and apparently that drink was from 2 seasons ago, and they didn't have the ingredients to make it. So we apologized to the waitress and left. This selection is insane and unmatched. The new fashioned that I got was honestly one of the best versions of an old-fashioned I've ever had. The smokiness and the slight sweetness to this cocktail made it exceptionally good. The bacon popcorn was a fun addition that we had, but they have a lot of other apps that looked really good as well. I went to Neat Bourbon Bar recently and was not disappointed. It has a prohibition feel to it and is actually comfortable. Some of these types of bars are strict with phones and it's easy to feel out of place, but Neat is NOT one of those. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and the vibe was super trendy with historic aspects. The menu is huge with the bourbon selection and their craft cocktails. Love this place! My wife and I decided to come to Neat following a disappointing dinner at Larkin's for a couple of nightcap cocktails. They have an amazing bourbon selection, and are priced lower than other bars in the area for similar bottles. My wife had the Rosemary's Baby, and it was delicious. I had a pour of Blood Oath, and one of their Prohibition Old Fashioneds. The old fashioned was excellent! There were 2 bartenders working, and even as the place started to fill up, the service was still excellent. We never had to wait more than a minute or two to get another drink. This is the best bar in Greenville, IMHO, and we'll definitely be back. Neat saved our anniversary. read more

Located under Main Street, Neat has a secret, intimate feel with a large bourbon selection and several craft cocktails. They also have a decent food menu, offering burgers, etc. I had a "New Fashioned" and he had two different bourbons neat. The New Fashioned was tasty, and the bourbon was certainly the main star. There is no other bar like Neat in downtown Greenville. I love coming to this whiskey/ bourbon bar for drinks. I've had their Mac and cheese in the past and it was good. At night the bar gets a little packed and be prepared to get a little warm. But the servers are great (they work their butts off) and the drinks are even better. Neat has most of the trappings of being a serious bourbon bar. Head downstairs, cozy up to the bar in the wood-paneled room, and peruse the long list of whiskies and bourbons on offer. The bourbon-based cocktail list is quite good. The only things I could do without, and the absence of these would make it a much better spot--because it really destroys the atmosphere, in my opinion--are the plus-sized TVs behind the bar (usually with college football or some other sport flashing on it) and the music, which leans toward intrusively bad pop music like the Black Eyed Peas (at least on two different evenings I visited). read more
