Dennis & Logan are two of the dopest bartenders out there who also know how to make a killer drink. I love coming here for Dennis' expert take on an old fashioned, which he has spent a lot of time and effort refining. And I don't kid when I say that this is Greenville's best old fashioned. The attitude behind the bar is very laidback, which will likely offput people expecting a pretentious, posh atmosphere. Since Google is filtering my review.... Very disappointing experience. We brought a group of 20+ people last night and were treated with unnecessary hostility by the bartenders. One bartender (with a nose piercing) yelled at my brother-in-law for placing a small piece of paper behind the bar because there was no trash can near the dart area. When my brother asked if he would have preferred it be thrown on the floor, the bartender replied, "Actually, yes." It was a clear no-win situation. The overall tone from the staff felt aggressive and confrontational. Another bartender (with longer hair) made a comment to our group saying, "If that bitch blows her whistle again," using derogatory language toward women in our party. That level of disrespect is unacceptable. Because of the staff's behavior, we took our entire group, and our business, elsewhere and will not be returning. This experience left a very bad impression, and management should be aware of how their bartenders are representing the establishment. read more

The second and most time spent stop on my visit to the downtown area. Music was going (Not live) and decent drink selections. I liked most that front end which obviously gets most of the attention is supported by the back end - yeah, a small bar counter toward the back where it's a bit quieter and you can more quickly get a drink. The two bartenders working back there were real cool and the area in the back keeps up with the sorta loungey atmosphere. Being more loungey than divey the crowd fit the bill, less regulars and more of a younger crowd and more newish pop music which was alright. Besides the bartenders being cool, the other staff were on point so as a group would leave/move away from a table the staff would quickly come in to clean it up and straighten up the chairs, so those details were nice to see and keeps the overall setting appealing. If you hanging with 2 or more people, and like a young crowd, I'd say this is the spot. read more

The worst place I've ever been! Do not go here! They kicked me out after 4 drinks. I just moved across country and was looking to socialize but after using the restroom I was immediately kicked out even though all I did was watch a basketball game and talk to 4 people. I have come to this establishment and had a good time previously. However, my boyfriend's last encounter coming to this establishment was TRAUMATIC to say the least. It was him & his bestfriend (whom are both black) & his fiancé (whom is white). Apparently the bar tender was a racist and had a problem with a white women being with 2 black men. Apparently this man called the cops on my boyfriend & his friend, telling the cops they had guns in the establishment (Which they absolutely did not, don't even think they own guns) & that the two black men were holding the white women ( who is one of the boys fiancé) against her WILL!!! The cops came into the establishment & arrested both of them including a random black man whom the bar tender told the cops was with them (which he was not, that man had actually JUST walked in). After being embarrassed and traumatized by being handcuffed in front of all the other patrons, the cops soon realized this was a racist call and that they didn't have guns on them at all & explained to them what happened. LONG STORY SHORT, if you are BLACK, tread VERY lightly coming to this establishment or just eliminate this from your plans all together, It is hard enough being Black in America. Popped in for a drink to wait for an event...There was maybe 5 people and maybe 2 were employees. Had a drink...and then was ready to go...waited...put cash on the edge of the bar...ok it took longer to attempt to pay than it did to nurse the drink and kill time. It took so long that I thought that it may help to order 1 more since the cash wasn't triggering anything and also ask to cash out. Nice vibe, nice tunes, but I'm sorry that the vampires don't arrive until 10p when you really make your money but I just need service and I really don't care if your tips are are over or under what you thought so put down the phone, cash me out, and let's end this process. Hands down my favorite bar downtown. My girlfriend and I like to come here for a few drinks every now and then, and have really enjoyed the people we meet and trying their beers. The staff is soooo nice. They're what makes Rey's special for us. My only negative point about Rey's is that it gets a little too packed later on weekend nights and it's impossible to fight your way to the bar/enjoy a conversation with friends without yelling or getting bumped in to, but I find this to be the case for pretty much every bar downtown, so what can you do? Update: I admit, Rey's has grown on me. $5 mango mind eraser was yummy, and their apple sauce shots actually taste like applesauce.. If you don't like being shoulder to shoulder(me), the back tends to be less crowded. They also carry several local craft beers on tap. Original: Rey's has recently been closed for remodeling, but the overall set-up has not changed. It is a casual bar with limited seating.. It fills up quickly, so after a certain point it's hard to maneuver around all the people standing. We were able to get a table, but we never saw a server so we continued to order our drinks from the bar. Drinks are a great value, with most cocktails being around $5. It's a decent place to go for starting the night or for casual drinks with friends. They also have a large projector so it could be a fun place to watch sporting events. read more

I like Rey's but I miss their old menu. Unfortunately I have no idea when it changed because I haven't tried to eat here in probably something like two years. Anyway, I stopped in Saturday evening just after 7 and the place was empty. Grabbed a table but had to go to the bar to order everything, which seemed a bit weird considering there was no one there. Or just in general because I know I had a waiter the last time I was there. Anyway, I had the corn dogs and curly fries and they were good, though again I miss the old menu. More options and I remember they had some different types of burgers and the one I had back then was delicious. Now they just have a plain Jane American cheeseburger and about five or six other items available. I know this place often has good drink specials and yes they have a decent beer list (though nothing that will blow you out of the water if you've been to, say, Barley's). I want to say the mixed drinks I had cost just just over $6 each and were decently strong. I love the atmosphere but hate when it gets super crowded late at night. Also they need more/better bathrooms. But I do like it as an early nighttime stop when out downtown for some fun. read more

I went to Furman for four years and spent a lot of time otherwise in the great little city of Greenville, but only recently has Reys come out of nowhere to become the #1 hotspot for a night out on the town. Lovingly nicknamed "The Hallway" within my group of friends, Reys had always been a stop in a larger pub crawl event - these days, though, it's become "the" stop. A few positive things: -Its decor is pretty great. Vintage posters line the brick walls and gives it a cool, city feel. -Last night there was all you can eat wings (any flavor) for $10. Not too shabby. -$2 Shocktop special is a siren call for girls. -Multiple TVs, and the staff is accomodating when you'd like a channel change. A few negative things: -One person female bathroom stall. Will people ever learn?! -We don't call it The Hallway for no good reason. It's long and skinny and the bottleneck phenomenon is in full swing here on Fridays and Saturdays. Highly recommend. See you there? read more

I agree that the layout/floorplan of the bar is not ideal for when it gets packed - which it does - but the fact that it continues to get packed despite this minor flaw speaks to the positive points about the bar. First, the spot is pretty cool aesthetically - exposed brick, I like the REYS sign in lights towards the back, and when it is jammed I do like that they have the smaller bar open towards the back too. Bathroom situation for women is not ideal. They could definitely use more bathrooms. Hands down the best thing about this place, though, is the beer selection. Their beer cooler is chock full of great craft beers and they generally have a few good ones on tap as well. Check out the Bells Oberon in the summer & the Three Philosophers in the winter. And then try about 3 other randoms you've never had before. read more

This bar is located towards the north end of Main Street. This is the place I come when I want a craft beer in downtown. Rey's offers 60 different bottles and normally has at least 10 different drafts on tap. They can also pour you some pretty exotic shots - ask Timmy what he recommends. Come here on a Monday night and get half off the entire bar. Yea, that's right - $3 grey goose's or $4 delerium tremens. Tuesday night means $2 corona's and dollar tacos. The $1 use quality ingredients of chicken, beef, or fish - but order at least 3 if you're planning on this for a meal. The interior is up to date and has an urban feel with exposed brick and contemporary seating available. I come here to drink, not eat. read more

Waited around forever (15-20 minutes) for the bartender to walk over to me and then she gave me the wrong drink and told me when I told her that wasn't what I ordered "try it, you might like it.
