I bought a sample wedding gown at Vows, so needless to say, it did not fit well and was dirty. I heard some feedback about the seamstress they recommended that made me nervous, so I decided to have my alterations done elsewhere. I found Sabella Couture through an online search and decided to trust them with my wedding dress alterations. Upon calling Sabella Couture, I was told that they were moving from their Tremont Street location to Newton (out of the Needham Street Cleaners). This actually made things easier since I wouldn't have to worry about find a place to park downtown when dropping off or picking up my dress. I spoke with Maria about the current state of my dress and how I wasn't really sure how many alterations were going to be needed. Maria was very friendly and helpful and suggested having my first fitting 5 months before the wedding. I went for my first fitting and Maria immediately started pinning the dress. She worked quickly and precisely. She didn't do any cutting while I was in the dress, which I was grateful for. I heard other seamstresses do this, and I cannot imagine watching the dress being cut in front of your eyes! I had never had the "moment" when dress shopping, when I knew that this was THE ONE, but I had that moment at my second dress fitting appointment, when I finally got to see my dress fit me for the first time. Maria did such an amazing job with the alterations. She also altered my mother-in-law's wedding veil for me as well, and it definitely completed the look. Needham Street Cleaners cleaned and steamed my dress and veil for me before the big day, and my eyes welled up when I went to pick it up. It looked as good as new and more beautiful than I had ever seen it before. I cannot recommend Maria Spyridopoulos and Needham Street Cleaners enough for your wedding dress alterations and cleanings. I had 2 of my husbands shirts with long cuffs made for cuff links laundered a while ago. He had an occasion to dress up for an event and pulled the first shirt out to discover that the cuffs were not clean, the second shirt had the same problem. The shirts were still in the original plastic cover from the dry cleaner and not worn or even touched. When I took them back the owner told me that it happened from sitting in the closet which made no sense to me. Bad experience- owner offered to clean blankets which had become soiled/ had odor. Rather than call to say he couldn't wash smell out, owner returned them to us wrapped in plastic. Paid $50. When got home and pulled them out they still had the odor. Went back to ask about it and owner became very aggressive saying he should never have taken them in first place and threw $50 back at us. #unhinged. Never going back. read more

My father and I have tried a few different dry cleaners over the years and we always came back to Needham Street Cleaners. They are so friendly here and do such a fantastic job! My clothes, shoes, comforters, ect. always look and feel brand new again, especially my Uggs and our comforters. The prices are very reasonable as well. I was a very good client of Needham Cleaners for almost a year. I used to drop off my cleaning and trusted them to have the correct count etc.. They lost my husband's suit, discolored a new top, and shrunk a brand new sweater for which they denied they did anything. Dimitri is the owner and he is the worst person to do business with, I had a loss of over 3K. I finally left for another cleaner, Holly, who has been an excellent cleaner with perfect customer service and full transparency. I suggest that if in fact you are using Needham get rid of them! read more

After being a faithful customer for years, I was terribly disappointed about the way they handle issues!!! I had a wine spill on an off-white cashmere sweater that I had purchased back in October at Saks. When it was returned, the sweater was yellow! I brought it back to see what had happened and why the color had changed! The owner was incredibly rude, suggested that I was lying, that the sweater was in fact yellow. He first offered to pull out the video for that day that would show the color was yellow, but once I told him I actually had a picture with the sweater that offer was suddenly off the table. Then, once he removed the sweater from the plastic bag it was in, we both noticed a hole in the back (obviously happened during cleaning!). He then accused me of trying to pass an "old" sweater as new!! He rudely swung the sweater around stating that "it must be at least 5 years old and how dare I try to pass it for a new sweater!" Little did he know that I am a good customer of Saks and they have started gathering all the information to prove both color and age! I am not so much upset about the cost of replacement, but definitely furious about the way they handle these situations! Not only have they lost us forever as clients! We will make sure our friends, who are clients of theirs, know exactly the way they handle their business! A disgrace! They will be hearing from me soon!!! read more

My order was promised one-day service and was not even started when I returned to pick it up the next day at 5pm. When I returned the next morning, the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and dismissive. When I asked for a discount because of the late service, the lady scoffed at my face. And as if the horrendous customer service wasn't enough, the prices for the dry cleaning are absolutely outrageous. You're better of going LITERALLY anywhere else in town. 5 years later and we are still going to the Needham Street Cleaners. We have tried other places closer to home, but none come even close to NSC. They are slightly pricier that others, but the shirts are perfectly pressed and clean and my sweaters come back beautiful and pill free. The pill free sweaters alone are worth the extra drive and expense. read more

Brought my duvet cover and down comforter to be dry cleaned before moving out of state. Three weeks ago when the weather turned cooler, I opened up the down comforter to find it had been ruined. I called and the woman who answered told me that they DO NOT dry clean down comforters but that they just wash and dry them because they do not have to be dry cleaned. And, they charged me $45 to wash and dry the comforter, which I find outrageous!! I specifically asked this to be dry cleaned as instructed on the label and was NOT informed that they do not do that. They must have put it in a hot dryer as the corners and stitching are all "ruched" and cannot be put into the duvet cover. When you wash anything down, you need to wash and dry on a warm to cool setting with tennis balls in the dryer to prevent damaging the down. They will not do anything for me as I am out of state now even though I said I could email pictures of the cover. So, now I am out the rip off $45 to clean the comforter and another $210 to purchase a new one. read more
