I place my order online today because last time I got here they were out of patties. I didn't want to waste my time going out of the way for this to happen again. I place the order online get a text to say my order is ready. I get there the order is not ready because they have no patties once again..I ask was abtext senr it was ready when It was not, as I purposely ordered online to not waste a trip and my time like I did last week. No answer. I asked do they automatically say it's ready without checking. no answer. I ask for my money back they say go on the app. Well I ordered it through their website. They say call Doordash. Well Doordash says to call the store with problems. I have placed an online complaint which can take 2 days for a response. Errors are one thing but the customer service from the young man they polite cashier deferred to was nothing. Not "would you like to try something else , sorry for the inconvenience" nothing, I don't even think he looked at me. Mask under his nose he says call door dash I usually like the patties and coco bread. Haven't tried anything else in years. My parents are Jamaican and I didn't find the other food authentic. I come here regularly but only for the patties and if I'm desperate the rice and gravy. But this is not authentic Jamaican flavored food. I've had the curry chicken, it was bland lack seasoning and flavor. I've had the ox tails which were not as tender as I'm used to and did not have that Jamaican flavor. My suggestion to the cook would be to try to use a more authentic curry believe it or not but Badia makes a good curry but if you're trying to go for that authentic Jamaican flavor you could also use Chief, Betapack, or Grace. It should have scallion, thyme, garlic, scotch bonnet pepper etc. Sprinkle the curry in the oil and brown the chicken good. You could even use a chicken flavored bouillon cube. You want a nice thick sauce I like to use a little coconut milk in my curry chicken and simmer on low for about 45 minutes then leave the lid open for the last 15 minutes. The ox tail needs more browning you could cheat and use a beef bouillon cube if you want. You should be season from the night before so when you leave the kitchen you should prep the ox tail for the next day come back in the morning and cook it till from 8 AM till 11 AM. Negril, I hope you're listening to my valuable advice as a girl raise that's a Jamaican who throws down in the kitchen your food was disappointing to me. Do better. read more

Yep! I'm a fan. I really like this place. I have only experienced Jamaican food on the East Coast at a couple of places however, the food is always hot and delicious. I will say it again, the food is HOT (not spicy) When I get home and unpack my container, I still have to allow a few minutes for it to cool. The staff is pleasant, I have never had a bad experience. I discovered it on my way to another shop nearby. Ordered the oxtail stew platter to take home. It was a quiet evening and the service was pretty quick. (Cute that the young lady helping me called me "mama.") The stew was well seasoned and the oxtail was cooked just the way I like it. The rice and beans accompaniment was also done well, and the shredded cabbage still had a bite to it. I also got a soursop drink but found it too sweet for my taste. I also got some patties: the beef patty was good; I had wanted the chicken curry patty but they were out of it, so I got the shrimp patty instead--it tasted so so. I went here really hoping to have a good experience as I've heard they had good Jamaican food. Well, I have to disagree. I'll start with the good as it goes down hill from there. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas, and cabbage. Also, soursop juice which was really good. I enjoyed that the most. Flavorful enough to taste the soursop and not too sweet. As far as the food, the rice and peas tasted the best out of the entire meal, yet they weren't that great either. The cabbage was just alright, but edible. Felt like I wasted money buying an extra side of it as it lacked flavor, and I dont require a lot done to my cabbage. The jerk chicken was by far the worst and driest jerk chicken I ever had. And the jerk sauce I assume they attempted to make from scratch, which I appreciate the effort, but their better off using Walkerswood. Tasted more like vinegary peppers. Epic fail. I know good authentic Jamaican food and this is not it. Also, given the other bad reviews in which the manager implies they strive for improvement and hope to offer a better experience in the future, well it appears that has not been implemented as of yet. So I'll just say try at your own risk, but if you know good authentic Jamaican food you may want to save your time and money. read more

I went here for the first time today after months of saying to myself that I needed to try it. I went around 3pm and it wasn't very crowded, which was great. The place is also very clean and there were places to sit and eat if you chose to, I took mine as carry out. The menu selection isn't very expanded. I ordered curried shrimp with rice/peas and cabbage with a side of plaintains. This ran me about $16. The food was very bland-no seasoning at all to the cabbage, rice and faint curry flavor to the shrimp. There also were only about 8 pieces of shrimp on a california king bed size of rice/peas/cabbage. I expected more flavor and more shrimp-at least 1 shrimp to every 2-3 fork-full of sides. The plaintains were good, though MOST places don't mess those up too bad. All in all, I was highly disappointed for what I got for the price I paid. Island Cuizine is a nice spot in Windsor Mill off Liberty Road in Baltimore that has this place beat! I suggest for good flavor and meal fulfillment that you give them a shot. Honestly this store has come a long way from a couple years ago. Customer service, customer service, customer service. They were certainly lacking in that department. This store has a completely new staff and has created a friendly engaging environment with the customers. My go to items are the chicken soup, oxtail, Jerk chicken, Jerk drumettes, and of course the coco bread and rum cake (add some vanilla ice scream to it J). I visited this location on 1/20/18 at 6:20 pm. I ordered 6 chicken patties. 3 coco bread and a side of cabbage. After waiting 10 min I was told that the patties would take 15 more min because they were in the oven. 30 min later, I was finally given my order. When I got home and opened the bag, I was given 5 chicken patties and 1 vegetable pattie (I DID NOT ORDER VEGGIE). If you do not have the item, it's not fair to substitute without the customer knowledge. I opened the cabbage mixture and it was sour...almost on the verge of being sour kraut. How gross! Stay away! If I could give less stars I would. I went to the restaurant today with hopes of ordering a combo meal of Curry Goat and Oxtails... The pricing for a combination meal was outrageous. I was told I could only purchase as separate side dishes. The goat was $10.50 and the oxtail side was $11. I opted for a curry goat dinner. I paid with my debit card and proceeded to seat until my order was ready. In the past they would give you a receipt and tell you your order number, which was listed on the bottom of the receipt. On this day, the cashier said nothing... absolutely nothing and her expressions were dry and cold. As I walked away, the cashier called out "Ma'am".. when I looked at her to see if she was talking to me but she was looking straight ahead at a customer so I sat down. She continued to call out "Ma'am", so I got up and asked if she was speaking to me. She said "Yes" and I replied by saying "How was supposed to know you were speaking to me if you're looking directly at the woman in front of you?"... I signed the kiosk, she handed me my receipt and waited for my food. Once my order was ready, she called out my number. I headed over to retrieve my food. I received no eye contact, no thank you for your food. They didn't open the container to ensure my order was correct. Absolutely NOTHING AT ALL. The only emotion and effort put forth was pure attitude and lack of customer service! That was my last time dining at that establishment. A decent "go to" restaurant to satisfy the curry crave without cooking. The entrees are enough to eat in two meals. My honey really enjoys the oxtails, while I'm more of the curry chicken eater. Today he had the escoveitch bone in red snapper...he said he should have stuck with the oxtails. Not that is was bad, it just wasn't like his mom's. We also noticed that the jerk wings weren't as spicy as we've had previously, but that's easily solved by asking for their hot sauce that plays host to scotch bonnets.
