I love this coffee shop and sadly I'm not able to make it here very often since they had to change their hours. I was able to get my Neidhammer fix for my birthday and it did not disappoint! They have a house made chai syrup and different syrups (pistachio specifically) than most places do. It was my first time to sit and enjoy pastries and crepes. The almond croissant did not disappoint and the light, airiness and flavors took me back to the streets of Paris. The crepe took awhile to come out but it was delicious and my friend said it was worth the wait. I have never had a bad experience when visiting and the staff are always helpful and smiling and joking. Add this to your list of coffee places to check out! read more

There was an upcharge on almond/oak/etc. Not a huge deal as the coffee was reasonably priced otherwise. After sitting for a while drinking coffees and enjoying the atmosphere, we decided to try the crepes. My partner had never had a crepe before and he wasn't sure what to expect. We drove all the way down to their location in a very sketchy neighborhood to get crepes. They have an entire menu board full of crepes. But when we ordered the first crepe, the clerk looked disappointed in us and explained they would be closing in 45 minutes weren't going to bother to make more crepe batter. I made a stop here the other morning on my way into work. This was a very nice place to have coffee and breakfast. They did a beautiful job with the renovations of the building. This restaurant is located on the Lower East Side just before downtown and in that neighborhood there are sure a lot of buildings that need renovating. I did wonder about parking at there did not seem to be too much of it around the restaurant but as a tip there is a big parking lot right across Washington street from the restaurant that is dedicated to them that I saw once I got inside the restaurant. I have a hard time passing up anything that is Chai so of course that is the one that I chose, the Dirty Chai off of their signature drinks menu. The chai was fine but I prefer mine more bold and slightly sweeter and creamier. I also ordered a crepe. I ordered the cottage home crepe it has Italian cheese, tomato, spinach, salt and pepper. It was simple but delicious. There was plenty of seating inside and lots of artwork for sale on the walls. In addition to the art there were some vintage pieces on shelving that were for sale as well. Such a cute little place and I am sure I will find my way back there. read more

Such a beautiful space with exposed brick, paintings and fully lighted coffee shop. The window panes are large and the leather sofa sets combined with the tables and stylish chairs giving a complete contemporary look. I ordered a 12oz Americano and a pecan sour cream coffee cake. The combo was divine, coffee so fresh in an aesthetically pleasing mug. The service was quick and super friendly. I for one did not face any issues with parking and I sat with my friends for a good 2 hours enjoying the country music which was very different in my opinion. I am yet to try their crepes but I can tell you the options are drool worthy! So on my list to visit again! read more

This place is awesome. Like, really so very cool. I have been driving by daily since 70 closed, but I never stopped. Why? Because I don't stop to smell the roses, dang it. Because I'm on the way to work and I'm focused and stopping for anything brings anxiety. Why do I do this to myself? Well, I'm going to stop. A friend wrote a book and I bought a copy for everyone on my team. He offered to sign them and we picked here to meet. Thank you, Universe, for the perfection that is this cozy and friendly coffee shop! Parking sucks a lil, but I found a close street spot under a golden tree. The inside is beautiful with exposed brick, warm Edison bulbs, and a variety of seating options. The menu has a lot of drink and nosh options. I had the most amazing cinnamon latte. The young gentleman and lady working were so kind and engaging. I am going to make a point to stop here a couple of times a month. You should, too! Oh, buy my friends book. I finally stopped by Neidhammer and I have to say..... it might be my new favorite coffee shop in Indy! It's just good vibes all around--the crepes made right in front of you, the peaceful brick wall aesthetic, the friendly servers, and the delicious coffee. We got the strawberry nutella crepe along with the rivoli and both were delicious (and very filling)!! We also got a honey oat latte which I also loved very much. It was the perfect amount of sweetness. This is a great place to study or have a chill catch up with friends. The service is great here too, everyone is very nice and accommodating. This place is so cute! I came here on a Saturday when they were doing a vintage pop up. I really liked the vibes and aesthetic of this coffee shop. I loved the exposed brick and the natural light. There is a good amount of seating inside and each table seemed to have outlets on the table legs. I ordered a lavender latte and I couldn't taste the lavender at all. The latte wasn't anything special but it was good. Overall, I would definitely come back and spend the day journaling or reading. read more

If you follow me on Yelp, you know I am on a mission to try out coffee shops in the Indianapolis area, mostly downtown. This week I tried Neidhammer Coffee. It has been a place I wanted to try because they used to be connected to Ash and Elm a couple times but they were always closed at the time of my visit. Anyway, my goal with my coffee shop visits is to locate the best coffee shops to work since so many people are remote workers these days (like myself). I have a couple different categories: 1. Parking 2. Greeting/Vibes 3. Seating 4. Coffee 5. Overall Experience 1. Parking - If there is any downfall it is the parking situation. They do have a lot behind the building, however, there are just enough spots for maybe 6 cars. I arrived around 8:30 a.m. on a Friday and I drove around twice waiting on someone to leave so I could grab a spot in their lot. There is street parking in the neighborhood so that is a plan B but I really wanted to park in the lot so I just waited for someone to leave. I didn't have to wait long, maybe 5 min or so and a car did leave so I pulled right into their spot. If you do find parking on the street you don't have to pay. 2. Greeting/Vibe - Very cool. When you walk in it has a very warm feel. Some places when you walk it it feels kind of stale but not this coffee shop, it was very warm and cozy almost. There wasn't any type of greeting but that's okay. There were people there working, some just having a coffee and looking on their phones and others where it seemed they were having a meet up of some sort. Nice mix of ethnicities as well which I like. 3. Seating - Again because I'm looking to work remote things that are important to me are the comfort of chairs, and enough seating and outlets and this place had it all covered. The chairs are comfortable and aren't COLD, I hate cold chairs! There were plenty of tables, I would say maybe 10'ish if not more. Some tables sat 2, some 4 and some like 6 or 8. Some round, some square. They have it all covered. Since Ash and Elm moved, they look like they may be adding some bar seating too. I saw them putting together some bar height tables so I bet the next time I go (because I will be back) there will be even more tables. They do play music but it is very light, you can tune it out if you want, or hum along if you want to listen. It is easy listening, alternative type music that is very mellow. 4. Coffee - The coffee is good. They don't have a ton on their menu like some but there is certainly something for everyone. I ordered an Apple Butter latte and it was quite good. The cost was $5 excluding tax/tip for what seems to be a medium. 5. Overall experience was great. The staff is very nice, and the people there also seem very chill. Coffee is good and a great place to work should you need to get out of your house for a bit! I will be back! read more

I didn't really need coffee but I needed a spot to chill for an hour while I waited for something to open. Neidhammer fit the bill and yes, the coffee was really good. Any coffee shop that can pull a proper cortado is going to be a winner. I've been a big fan of the cortado as my coffee beverage since I saw Alton Brown's description of them. Similar to a latte, except instead of *foamed* milk, the cortado is simply steamed milk that is 50/50 with the espresso. It makes for a refreshing hot coffee and it's delicious. And it's loaded with caffeine. And it's much easier to drink when the coffee isn't n foam. Neidhammer was quiet and clean. Each table has a power outlet installed. Their wifi worked well. Everyone working behind the counter was masked and the patrons were mostly masked. I was in a corner so it was cool for me. They also have some outside tables. I liked this place and would return. Neidhammer Coffee was unknown to us until we were searching for Ash & Elm Cider which is next door. Although we were to early in the day to sample a watermelon cider, we were surprised by the amazing little coffee and crepe shop. Although the normal route of Virginia Avenue / Shelby when partake of the treasures of Fountain Square and Fountain Square, it well worth the extra mile to seek out Neidhammer Coffee. They have restored an old brick building into a quiet and relaxing destination. We enjoyed a mango pineapple smoothie and a jasmine berry iced tea. Both were worthy of a blue ribbon. We were surprised to learn they make crepes which will give us a reason to go back. read more

The coffee and crepes are amazing here. The service is pretty slow but they've usually only got one person taking orders / making coffee so it makes sense. For lattes and specialty coffees it's pretty darn cheap! I got a latte and crepe for roughly $10. The space is big and they've got plenty of room for you to sit in there and work. I love this place and it's vibe. The building is beautiful. I've been here several times for the crepes alone. I honestly can't get past the St Clair crepe, it is that good! You can tell that the ingredients are fresh. When I dine with friends, we also split a dessert crepe. Yesterday we had the one with fresh peaches, sweet cream and brown sugar... OMG! The service is friendly, but because the crepes are done on the spot, it can take a bit of a wait if they're busy. But who really cares if you're having great conversation or reading a good book. read more

Neidhammer is the only coffee shop I have found that has crepes! They have both savory and sweet and they are delicious. I have been here a couple times specifically for the crepes and they are worth it. The parking situation here isn't the best, I always end up parking behind the building where there are only a couple spots. I believe up stairs of the coffee shop is an event space so maybe there is a parking lot and I'm just missing it. Their coffee is also good and they have always been very nice when I go! When I went there recently it looked like they expanded their seating more so they have lots of space for people who want to stick around and mingle or work! read more

We love Vietnamese iced coffees. However, when the craving hits, we can't always make the trek to a Vietnamese restaurant for an authentic drip version of it. So, we appreciate that you can order a 20 oz. version at Neidhammer for $5 that tastes mostly authentic and is prepared lightning fast. Neidhammer offers multiple unique drinks that I don't see elsewhere, including the Saraba, a warming complex drink made with whole & coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, cardamon, and cinnamon. Add a shot of espresso to make it dirty. The sage berry tea is a great choice for the decaf set. I like to order it unsweetened since it comes with almost a cup's worth of semi-frozen mix of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries...you don't need the added sugar and are getting a serving or two of fruit. Neidhammer also has seasonal lattes that are super creative I enjoy Neidhammer's calm, well-lit atmosphere. It has never been insanely busy the times we've visited and the baristas have always been very friendly. If you aren't lucky enough to get a parking space or nearby street parking, there is a large lot across Washington. Navigating the traffic to walk across Washington Street is not fun, but you just have to have patience. When Neidhammer or Ash & Elm Cider are hosting events, they arrange a police officer at the intersection to guide pedestrians across the street. We haven't experienced any of Neidhammer's food options, but the baked goods look pretty good and the plates of crepes always look inviting. I'd definitely recommend visiting Neidhammer to try out a brand new drink and support their presence in this near-east side neighborhood. read more

This coffee spot is always delicious but I wanted to shout out their crepes as a way to pair coffee with a delicious treat! It was the perfect spot for a book discussion on a sunny day with enough seats for some but great social distancing and privacy. I love the various options and some of their swag, and the coffee was just the right temp with perfect foam and flavor. I also love that they have parking and now a new crosswalk to get safely across Washington Street. Highly recommend this spot that has more than just coffee. read more

Spent a Sunday afternoon working from Neidhammer and it was pretty pleasant experience. Nice location with big windows that let the sun shine in while you hang out. I ordered a savory pesto crepe and a refreshing blood orange drink. The staff here is very friendly and kind. I ordered an Iced Honey Oat Latte and the Saint Clair crepe. Both were absolutely amazing. They accidentally made my coffee with whole milk, but they caught it before they handed to me and were quick to fix it. I don't live here, but if I did, this would definitely become a regular stop! This is a great coffee shop. The exposed brick interior and the setup offers a nice European feel. They have a small selection of food items: crepes and pastries. I am more into savory foods, and wasn't let down by their Highland Park crepe, which come in two sizes; small and normal. I hate to waste food and being a glutton, so I'm glad I'm given that option. They have a solid caffeinated beverage selection, and the drinks are well made. For those who like to drift off the beaten path, I think purchasing anything here would be a hit. I hate that Ash and Elm no longer resides there. The last time I was there I had anticipations of grabbing a libation, but my dream was killed. It is working perfectly now around the whole shop, which will definitely bring me back more often. I love their Nutella latte. It is the perfect amount of sweet without an overwhelming sugar level. This is a cozy coffee shop just east of downtown. We stopped by on Sunday right as it was opening at noon, and they were busy which I love to see! We ordered our drinks and crepes then sat down and waited. There were two employees working, and they would bring out food and drinks to customers which was a little chaotic as they didn't have table markers and were struggling figure out who ordered what. Our crepes came out before the coffee, and it took over 30 minutes to get our order. The crepes and coffee were delicious, they just must of been having an off day.
