Cute spot right off the monon trail. Got an iced matcha latte and a spinach quiche. They were both delicious. There was indoor and outdoor seating available with a pickup window as well. We love the location of this little coffee shop in Broadripple, and it is a great place to grab a coffee and go on a walk on the Monon. However, if you get a latte, which we did, it is very very sweet, and you can barely taste the coffee in the drink. I know some people like this, but by the time I was halfway through my drink I felt like I couldn't finish it. The shop is very small but has a nice patio to sit on. The barista was very nice and gave us a heads up that hot food was going to take a while, which helped us make an informed decision on what we were going to get. Perk Up Cafe has the perfect location right next to the Monon trail. The indoor dinning is closed, and they have a walk up window where you can order and some outdoor tables. They have a small menu, and advertise fresh bread on Saturday. I initially was going to order one of the breakfast sandwiches as the pictures on the sign looked good. The individual working was not friendly or helpful and I decided I'd just order a vanilla latte and not order food. I couldn't taste the vanilla at all and the latte lacked flavor as it tasted very weak and mostly like steamed milk. read more

It has been a very long time since I've been to Perk Up, though I've been a Day One customer from years ago. Something I haven't tried a lot of is their baked goods. I was in a bread mood last week, so I grabbed some of their French Bread. The loaf is small, but I like to think of it as personal-sized. Maybe good for about 3 or so sandwiches. But it may be some of the best French bread I've had in the Indianapolis area. Very fresh, soft, and toasts really well. I live in Broad Ripple with my fiancee, and we've been meaning to try this place. Perk Up is off Cornell and in the heart of Broad Ripple village. I tried the Dirty Hippie, and she got the Cafe Latte. We both had it with oat milk. Our drinks were great, and the service was good. There's a counter where you can step up and order from without having to go inside. There's fresh bread on Saturdays, and they bake bagels in house. My daughter loves the monon mint mocha and I am a huge fan of the dirty hippie!!! Just so delicious...I also highly recommend the braided ham and cheese bread. After a friend and I rode a hot and humid 50 miles, we decided to try out Perk Up for a sandwich and cold drink. They were good, though frankly anything tastes good after exercise. A severe thunderstorm changed direction and began to head our direction, so we asked the cashier if we could take cover under their patio roof. She welcomed us. We leaned our bikes against their building and so happened to block the unused entrance (considering that this establishment only offers outside seating) and menu. After gusts, heavy rain and lightning announced the arrival of the storm, a gentleman from inside came out and asked us to remove our bikes from leaning across the patio. He stated "Customers need to be able to see the menu." Keep in mind that no customers came while we waited out the storm on the patio, since obviously no one wants to walk to a coffee shop in rain & lightning. While it is obvious that customers are integral to the survival of restaurants, I could not believe the lack of awareness and feeling of unwelcomeness from such a restaurant. Apparently the $30 we paid to this business and our existence as human souls was not enough to excuse our bikes from leaning against their business during the midst of a lightning storm. I will not offer neither my money nor time to Perk Up again. read more

I've been going to Perk Up for years now, and I can confidently say it's my favorite coffee shop. Period. Full stop. They sadly had to close their inside area due to COVID, but thankfully this little local lovely place has still managed to stay in business. Friendliest baristas you could ever ask for. Fabulous drinks that, yes you need to wait patiently for, are ALWAYS worth the wait and consistently delicious. Even the black coffee is the best you could want. They usually have three different roasts available, cycling through different ones. Here's my personal recommendation in order of preference: 1. Ethiopian - best of the best! Medium and rich flavor you can't beat. 2. Columbia is the best "default" coffee 3. Brazilian - good (tied) 4. Sumatran - good (tied) 5. French Vanilla - good, a little "simple"neither the vanilla flavor 6. Hazelnut - I don't like hazelnut on its own, but if you do it's great then hehe. read more

This is such a cute cafe! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food and baked goods were. Located just off the Monon, this tiny house turned cafe is lovely. There are several tables to work or have meetings at in the small front room. The ordering counter is towards the back. They have homemade German baked goods on display and you can also order delicious sandwiches too. They make their own sandwich breads, pretzels, muffins, biscotti and more. YUMMMM!!! I got an everything bagel egg sandwich and hot tea. It was delicious! The wifi was great and the staff was nice and let us hang out and get work done. I'll be back! read more

This place is in a convenient location if you are strolling down the Monon in Broad Ripple. If you enjoy coffee I'd try this place before hitting up some of the chains in the area. I ordered a Dirty Hippie, an iced white knight, a hot chocolate, and a breakfast sandwich (bacon egg and cheese on ciabatta). I'm more of a black coffee kinda person but every once in a while I loves chai latte which is what a dirty hippie is but with an addition of a shot of espresso. It was perfect just the right amount of sweetness. The other 2 drink where for my kids the both loved them. The breakfast sandwich was delicious the bread was nice and soft. read more

Such a cute this coffee shop. We stopped by after our morning run for a quick cappuccino. It was pretty good and reasonably priced - $5.13 after tip. They were so nice and immediately got Jax (my dog) some water. She even went inside to get the filtered water - so sweet. My favorite part of this shop is the outdoor walk-up order window. I love to get a drink or snack out on my walks but normally can't because my dog is with me. With the order window, I don't have to tie him up outside or try to bring him in just to get some coffee. Finals are right around the corner and so was this cafe! I saw they had a Cubano coffee and it was good. Helped me get my studying going. They're closed for indoor seating but they have a walk up window available. The young lady was very nice and my coffee was done within minutes. COVID has my husband and I trying all of the coffee shops, especially since Indianapolis Monthly published a list of the best in the area. Perk Up is walk-up only at this time, but this did not deter us since we decided to grab coffee and then go for a walk. We were the only ones there at this particular time, so I cannot speak to the normal process for social distancing. Service was fast and the staff person working was very friendly. I opted for the Dirty Hippie (dirty chai) and talked my husband into the Mint Mocha because I wanted a taste. Both were good. I'm unsure if they were almost $7 good though. They had a walk-up window and had very friendly staff. Social distancing was enforced and they had a tent outside to wait under and staff would walk your food/drink to you from there or meet you at the window you originally ordered. Very cute little cafe in Broad Ripple. It is definitely off the main strip so you will have to use your GPS to find it. The cafe itself is not very big. Inside it looks to hold about 10-20 people. Outside has a little more versatility on the amount of people it can hold. They offer a wide variety of drink options. I definitely would like to see more food options. This cafe is located in the corner of Broadripple village and has plenty of street parking. We walked in and immediately were hit with the delicious smell of coffee. I ordered the iced chai - which was absolutely amazing. Great flavor, large size (20 oz) and quickly prepared. My husband got the dirty chai and was equally pleased. We also ordered deluxe breakfast sandwiches on the pretzel bun. The menu says to be patient for the food to come out since they make from scratch, so we knew to expect that. It wasn't super busy when we were there and it took 15-20 minutes for the sandwiches. They were delicious, fresh and very filling! We ended with a slice of cake, which was in a glass case on the side, fantastic! There is plenty of seating, but overall pretty dark and a bit crowded inside. My timing was fortunate, but not optimal as I caught this place just minutes before closing on a Saturday afternoon. So, they didn't have any black drip coffee available, but suggested an Americano as an alternative. I also grabbed a twist tie coordinated blueberry muffin (they have a mini chart to help you identify the flavors by twist tie). The server was friendly and helpful and I was planning to get my coffee to go anyway, so I didn't have a lot of opportunity to check out for ambiance though I will say that the seating area looked inviting. The American was just a bit too hot to enjoy right away, but had a good taste and was a useful alternative to standard drip coffee. The muffin, though not huge, was very filling. I am not sure how long it had been there. The blueberries had a bit of a raisin texture to them. It didn't affect the taste, but it was a bit unusual compared to other muffins in my experience.
