Both Dr.Nguyen and Joanna were amazing. I purchased a groupon because I wanted to look for a new chiropractor. My old one had high profile clients and their prices were a bit steep for me. The groupon includes: 1 Free Consult 1 60 Minute Massage 1 Free Adjustment I got there early and Dr.Nguyen already guessed who I was. He greeted me with a firm handshake and returned to his client. Once Joanna arrived, we immediately took care of my paperwork and began my massage. Joanna and I had a lot of fun talking about a range of topics. My tattoos, her son, and puppies. I asked for a firm/deep tissue massage so I wasn't looking to doze off. I was there to get fixed and the conversation was very pleasant. At first, I thought she wasn't putting enough pressure but I always overestimate how much pressure I really need. I came with a stiff neck that was painful to move and left a little sore. However, my muscles felt liberated of knots and kinks and was brand new the following day. Then I saw Dr.Nguyen. I have a very athletic background so I mention everything I do and the positions my body always find itself in. Dr.Nguyen addressed all of my concerns. My consult was followed by a full body readjustment, electrotherapy, and targeting my ankle that I've twisted up 3-4 times within the past few years. It was thorough and he didn't let me go until everything was addressed despite having another appointment right after mine. I liked his honestly. He didn't tell me to come back the next week because of this or that. He told me that if I wasn't in pain, I should just do the exercise he assigned me to strengthen my ankle. He recommending coming back once a month to get adjusted and checked on because well, everyone needs to do that once a month. He didn't tell me to come back sooner to treat me for anything that wasn't totally needed. My advice is book them ASAP. I purchased a living social deal for a spinal adjustment and a 60 minutes massage. Both Dr. Nguyen and Johanna was very friendly and knowledgeable. I scheduled an appointment online a few days before my session. I received a called the day after. Apparently, I was very lucky because I wanted to have the session the following day, but someone canceled so I was really lucky. I think the spinal adjustment session was about 20 minutes. Dr. Nguyen explained which part of my back needed improvements and what I needed to do. I felt so much lighter after the session. Johanna was awesome. He listens to what bothers you, is observant (noticed that I carried my wallet in my back pocket and explained that that can cause you to sit lopsided and mess with your posture), and suggests way you can work on keeping yourself in alignment. I started going monthly because my lower back gets really tight so I use the massage therapist pair of Johanna together with Dr. Tommy monthly. Dr. Nguyen is great. I had never been to a chiropractor and went to another clinic because they offered a Groupon deal. They were nice and seemed competent, but when I sought a second opinion from Dr. Nguyen, he told me in a straightforward, honest, and respectful way that the other clinic was proposing a treatment plan that might have been unrealistic. (An orthopedic surgeon has since agreed with this.) I've had three adjustments with him and my back feels better already. Cost is reasonable, too. The other clinic presented me a huge treatment plan ($5000+) that really scared me. Dr. Nguyen is much more willing to work with my insurance, see how things go, not lock me into a rigid plan. Dr. Tommy knows what he's doing and he'll fix you. I wasn't looking for a chiropractor to begin with--I was looking more for a podiatrist or a chiropodist to fix my feet and legs due to a very old injury that's left me a little wonky. Did various searches on Yelp and somehow other people's reviews of Dr. Tommy convinced me to at least go for a first visit. Long story short, he fixed me in several weeks' time and I can actually move with much more ease now and actually go back to dancing. This review addresses, separately, Dr. Nguyen's chiropractic skills and his interpersonal skills. With respect to the former, I'd say the doctor is very knowledgeable and competent; and I was favorably impressed. He definitely seemed to know what he was talking about and conveyed that information clearly. That positive impression was, however, somewhat offset by his interpersonal skills, which I found a bit gruff and brusque. I probably wouldn't have mentioned this ... and it wouldn't have been an issue ... except that I've had experience with many other chiropractors over the past couple decades, and they all demonstrated greater sympathy and were less pointed in their interactions. But reading all reviews of Dr. Nguyen to date, I think my experience might be (or at least sounds) unrepresentative, and I might've just caught him on an "off" day, as we all have. Johanna, the massage therapist who works in Dr. Nguyen's office (I'm not sure if she's an employee or independent contractor) is a sweetheart. She loves and believes in her work, and it showed in her technique and uplifting conversations with me. Johanna probably would have remained my massage therapist, except her office is a bit far from home and there are therapists in my area who are as talented, enthused about their work, and cheerful as Johanna. He is a highly experienced and talented chiropractor whom I cannot rave enough about. I recently went in for a diagnosis/treatment with Dr. Nguyen for "facet syndrome" which was causing me discomfort with my lower back after playing in a weekly volleyball league.
