Overall school sucks. from the staff to the teaching. They don't offer any type of tutoring or help…read morefor the kids if they are struggling with their academics. They send u to online links to look up online to "help" your child with homework if they are struggling. Staff is BEYOND unfriendly and STUCKKK UP. Kids get bullied 24/7 and nobody does anything about it.

This school has several serious concerns that affect both academics and overall school management…read more There are significant gaps in core education, including the lack of a dedicated art teacher and no proper science room or consistent science instruction. These missing resources limit students' learning in important subjects. There are also concerns about staffing quality, as many teachers do not appear to have relevant degrees, which raises questions about academic support and instruction quality. In addition, there are ongoing concerns about leadership and school administration. Many parents feel the school would benefit from stronger, more transparent, and more effective leadership to better support students, staff, and academic programs. The GATE program has also raised concerns about fairness and transparency in student selection, with questions about how consistently the process is communicated and applied. All PTO moms kids are in Gate program....() why ??? It's for gifted kids Not PTO moms kids that bad behavior and low grades... There are also concerns about resource allocation, including spending on a garden in Las Vegas, which some families feel is not a priority compared to essential academic needs like Science and Arts programs. The Harvest Festival has also raised questions among parents about transparency in how winners are selected, and clearer guidelines would help ensure fairness and trust. the school would benefit from NEW stronger leadership, improved academic resources, better-qualified staffing, and more transparent systems to ensure fairness and better outcomes for all students.

2nd year here and the system they have makes. No sense. From how kids are being taught to the lunch…read moreit's just not very organized. As a matter of fact, if you didn't start with them from kindergarten they don't really explain to you the process. They focus on bare minimum. I remember my first year. I was so lost. I had to try and figure out what was what and how I get newsletters because I just never knew what was going on. Just so you know they do send email with the news in case you're new here. They are helpful updates IF THEY MENTION THEM TO YOU! If your child is advanced I would say don't take them here! They put kids that are advanced and kids who are behind the grade levels and think about how hard it is FOR EVERYONE! The kids who are at grade level and above have to slow down for the kids who are behind. The kids who aren't at grade level need extra attention and become disruptive as the kids who are at grade level and above are disruptive too. Can you blame them they are bored!!!!! How stressful do you think that could be for the teachers. I PERSONALLY seen how kids act. I signed a paper my child can walk home and the teacher also approved had no issues with this last year. However this year 2nd day and teachers were saying you can't leave where are your parents! Excuse me anyone can really pick up you don't have a list showing who is approved. 116 outside and they have my child walking back and forth. I honestly don't care what they teach my child as I teach them more at home because the homework was useless and way too easy! I talked to a few parents and they tell me how much they hate it here but unfortunately we are zoned here! Do better for our kids they are the future!

Pretty disappointed in the school. My foster son had severe issues after going through the trauma…read moreof being removed from his home. He had no education and was in first grade. He had absolute behaviors, which made it pretty hard for his teacher. Everyone was in agreement that the child needed extra support. As we went through the school year, this child did nothing. He would not complete tests, participate or do homework and received an F in every grade. And the behaviors were uncontrollable. I kept asking the school, the principal, the teacher, anybody who would listen to please hold him back. Sending a child that didn't even have the basic kindergarten education to second grade would be detrimental. But they didn't want to listen. We moved, and he is now attending a new school. The principal of the new school was shocked that Schoor elementary did not hold him back. They said that the school did him a huge disservice. We will be holding him back this year so he can catch up. In just 6 1/2 months this child is a completely different child with the support of his new school. His behaviors are nonexistent now, the only thing lacking now is still the education. I wish I would have stuck my grounds and continued to push for them to hold him back. Like I said, everyone involved was very nice, but I just don't think they were capable of making the correct decision for this child.

The principal (Erica) is always outside when we are picking up kids (in fact almost ALL staff is visible/available at this time). This makes me feel they are very approachable, and I have had many conversations with lots of staff. In fact, my daughter mentioned she has had nice conversations with the principal and the vice principal on the playground. My daughter was in private preschool so I was concerned Hummel would not be challenging enough, but they have really helped her develop in the areas she needed. Her kindergarten teacher (Ms. VanHorn) is amazing!! She really goes all out for her students, keeps parents very well informed, and gets these kids off to an excellent start. I felt they provide a loving & kind learning environment that helps kids build confidence in a diverse world. I am so pleased with this schools enforcement of the "be kind" program because her previous school emphasized competition too much. The kids were getting discouraged. I do feel as a parent, involvement/communication with teachers is key to any great experience. However, you can't expect the teachers to do it ALL! Meaning, they are your kids, so ask them questions & practice skills with them. Help the teachers by SHOWING your kids their schooling is important to you! Pro's: Teachers & staff Fun Field trips coordinated by teachers Be kind in a diverse world Con's: Parking (small area/Placid small street)- avoid it by not being in a rush! Clears out quickly

This school was so bad I pulled my child out asap. First…read morethe drop off/pick up at the school is totally dangerous. They post signs stating no U-turns, parents still do it. They handed out fliers explaining the laws at school zones...no stopping in the road to pick up or drop off, no double parking, speeding, etc. The parents broke the law constantly and they did nothing about it, never enforced it, which is why parents continued to do it. So if the parents are like this you can only imagine how their kids are. Constant bullying. My child told me one instance when they were bullied to the point they cried, and the teacher Miss Goze, completely ignored him. I complained to her numerous times, the bullying child even stole an item from my kid, and she did nothing. She treated him differently never of his race, if he was her race she would have protected him. Miss Goze is the worst teacher I've ever encountered! The school being complacent about it just shows how horrible they run things.
