Only been here a handful of times but each time the chick with a guys name makes it agonizing as well as the older bouncer, not only did the dude put his hand all in my purse and accuse lotion of being weed but the waitress made it hostile rushed us and closed the tab out without warning after our first drink. Neil's lounge is a great little dive located in Indio, the vibe is country/dive bar. The drinks are tall and the folks that frequent here are quite down to earth. Karaoke is a big thing here, and let me tell you they sure do know how to get down! My husband and I actually had our wedding reception here, the staff was the nicest, and so were the locals. If you are in the area this is definitely the spot to kick up your feet and have a drink! read more

Didn't even let us in? They checked our bags, interrogated me and my friends, questioned our legit ID's, and asked for credit cards to make sure they match the name on the ID's. The 'head of security' rushed toward us as soon as we walked in. He asked us why we smelt like weed? It's 2019 bruh, weed is legal? I don't know what that guys problem is but he was a complete a-hole. Because he found weed on us he told us we can't be there and asked us to leave. During this entire 15 minute debacle people were walking in and out without even getting their ID's or bag checked. You should really fire that guy, he's making you guys lose business.... read more

I have to say the food is excellent. We went for karaoke --- was the worst experience of our life. Two or maybe three people would sing and then the KJ would take off .... Sometimes unable to even find him. Other times walking around the bar. He would go behind the bar --- He would do dishes, lean and talk to people. Come back to the stage, Let one or two people sing and then take off again for a long time. It was a horrible horrible horrible experience with the terrible terrible KJ ....... They have a lil restaurant in there called Puros Tacos. Best Shrimp tacos around, sooo good. Neils crowd is always mixed and the drinks are on point. Cool spot for Kareoke and a strong drink. This place has never disappointed. read more

I am a long time customer of Neil's Lounge and always have a great time while I'm here. Karl is a fun karaoke host and Crystal is the best server! She makes me and my friends feel like family. The only complaint I have is that there was a dog inside the bar. As far as I know, that is against California health code unless it is a service animal, which this dog clearly was not. My friends and I wanted to stay longer to sing a few more songs and eat but we cancelled our food order because one of my friends is allergic to dogs and the rest of us were pretty grossed out watching the lady feed her dog mozzarella sticks at the table. Just seems unsanitary. Other than that, always a good time! We will be back but hopefully Jackie and Cowboy will talk to security about the laws pertaining to animals inside the bar. read more

Not only that but the DJ was really rude and said he would only play our songs if we tip them. Therefore I did tip him and he rolled his eyes and never played our song. Neil's did a bang up job of showing us LA folk a great time on a random night in Indio. I come to La Quinta all the time and if you are not a senior, there really is very little to do. So when I heard about Neil's both my fingers and my toes were crossed that the place could be a repeat. One step inside those doors transported me to a dive bar in some time warp on what could be considered an entirely new planet. Drunk old men in Tommy Bahama sing Willie Nelson (you know who you are ) while tiny Asian women in really big shoes since terrible songs (repeatedly). Yes, you guessed it. What makes Neil's so special is its weird mix of cheap drinks and karaoke. Without the cheap drinks, the karaoke wouldn't be half as entertaining (and frankly they are necessary). I happened to land at Neil's on a night where the lesbian convention was in town. Women were brawling in the bathroom while others made out. Some asked me to dance to songs like Do Wa Ditty and Like a Prayer. If people were veggies of all shapes and sizes, Neil's would be one heck of a tossed salad. This was the strange combination of people: fat, thin, tattoos, yuppies, young, old, tacky and tackier, pants hanging low, pants that are wayy too tight. Ethnicities Galore. Get ready for some good times people. And for some bimbo to spill a drink in your lap. read more

So I'm from the bay area and when I came to town for Coachella and was looking for a late night spot - here is were I landed. Me and two friends took a taxi and upon arrival one of the bouncers comes up the taxi and immediately checks all our ID's - um, weird and intimidating. Walking in there is a kareoke stage to the right, a bar to the front and tip bar tables to the left. We find and spot and sit. I was wearing a short skit, heels and nicer top - silly me - my friends and I were stared at in an akward way the entire time. So we watched the stage for a bit, the singers were ok and the equipment looked high tech and all so - good if you are into it and know where you are going. I ventured off to the restroom at one point. It's one room, with a curtain that wraps around the tiolet - no lock on the door. So I just had to do my business quick, hoping no one would come in and just open the curtain to my modesty. But it was clean at least. The vibe was just weird and totally non friendly and bordering on aggressive. Call me an out of towner - I'm ok with that. But I shouldn't have felt that akward - 30 minutes later we called a cab and were leaving. But even then a super creepy guy started to make some gross comments to my friend outside while we waited. If you know what you are in for, know the crowd, hardcore kareoker - great - otherwise I'd pass - especially if you are from out of town. read more

So my friends took me out to this place for karaoke. I'd never been but knew it was popular for karaoke. After one duet with my girlfriend, I knew the second mic (my mic) wasn't loud enough in the mixer as I could barely hear myself. I politely told the dj who then told me my voice was too soft and my friend was louder. This couldn't have been further from the truth as in a professional theatre singer who can be heard from the back of the house a Capella. I brushed off his dismissivness and my fiend and i put in for a few songs. After waiting for the longest time as the dj sang HIS songs as girls grinded on him and eachother and left raunchy hip hop playing while he was no where to be seen for the longest time, we finally left. I did eventually get to do another song but my friends was completely dismissed and had to ask the dj what was up. The best part was our very courteous server who made sure our drinks were always fresh. I love karaoke and have been everywhere in the valley and this was the worst karaoke experience ever. At least they had a good sound system, if only the dj knew how to manage the sound system... read more

I'm writing in a LA point of view. I just moved to Coachella Valley so this is what I thought. I really like this bar. I went during the day and in the summer so no one was really there. I just stopped in to get a couple of drinks not really to have a crazy day/night. They had a very good menu, great lay out and decently priced drinks. I have been here a few times and can confirm it's a dive bar haha can find all sorts of characters in this place, but they're all friendly and there to have a great time! Parking is limited up front, but they have more parking outback or next door if it gets too crowded. This place has a fun vibe to it the moment you walk in. The karaoke stage is to your immediate right, restrooms to the left and straight ahead is the bar. They have plenty of screens to watch the games, especially during football season. They have pool tables behind the bar as well. The staff here is super friendly and usually hook you up if you're a regular or just seem like you're having a blast haha The drinks here are strong and worth the low price. Careful with stacked glasses, they will freeze together making it harder to separate. Never had a full meal here, but what I did try was pretty good. Overall 4 stars because I have yet to show up when it's fully packed and they got the karaoke going on. This place still functions M-F just fine though! read more

After a long "girls night out" for a bachelorette party, we stopped by here before we headed back to the resort. The bride-to-be loves to sing so we thought it would be fun for one last hurrah before we headed home. The bouncers were hilarious. Unfortunately, not all of us were drinking but the waitress didn't seem to mind and still brought out waters. There was some really good karaoke going on and kind of intimidating. After listening to a couple of them you forget they're just regular people. I was impressed. I loved the variety in the crowd. There were some sports fans here, a few cowboys there, couple of locals. This guy even came up and offered to get me a bottle of water cause I just missed the waitress. He gave it to me, we joked for a second and after I thanked him again for the water he just strolled off. Seriously, the nicest guy ever! Didn't act creepy or try to saddle up to the table. Very cool. Soooo, the reason I missed the waitress was a trip to the ladies room. There was a line, so I didn't get to see what was going on in there, but by the time I got inside I realized what was up. A shower curtain? It was all that separated you from the girl washing her hands at the sink and the girl standing next to that girl waiting her turn. Still trying to figure this one out. Oh well, I survived. Unfortunately, miss bachelorette didn't get a chance to sing. They apparently had a last call for the karaoke and we missed it. All is well, after the weekend we had I wasn't up for being a back up dancer to an all girl rendition of Baby Got Back. Love a dive bar - love it even more when you mix it with cool people and good karaoke. read more

Dark, gritty, amazing dive bar with a karaoke crowd you can really get down with. They provide a free shuttle to/from the lounge, and we took advantage of that service. Showed up around 7pm on a Friday with an entourage of women. We were treated well, served stiff drinks, and whiled away an awesome evening at Neil's. The people watching is great - flashy to trashy and everything in between. The place really started filling up around 9:30 or so, so we were glad to have arrived early enough to grab a table. Wait time to sing: I've now been here 4 times I think and once it was packed and I only sang twice, every other time I sang multiple times. KJ: know it all, thinks he is the best, but what KJ doesn't ?!?! If you are good, he'll put you up more. If you tip, you can sing all night. Seems like they work on tips. Clientele: depends on the night. One time it was buncha local assholes which made the bar in a weird mood including staff. All Other times it was very pleasant! Perfect place for nighttime fun, not much going on in La Quinta after dark. This place is a 10 minute drive and they offer a shuttle for pick up and drive which is great. It's a karaoke bar, so be prepared. It's good spot for big groups which is also fun. read more

Me & my girlfriend don't like karaoke bars, but Neil's is awesome. Very comfortable, nobody taking themselves too seriously. Cheap drinks and best of all, INCREDIBLE food. Mike's kitchen seriously rocks, it blows the doors off much higher-priced restaurant fare. Really delicious BLTs, burgers, wings and potato salad - excellent ingredients imaginatively seasoned, and really good bread. The bartenders are cool, no-nonsense. If you're a regular, down-to-earth type, you'll fit right in and love it. Plus they have a free shuttle van that will pick you up and drop you off if you want to avoid any DUI concerns. A great place to sit, have a chat over a pitcher of beer. Or play some pool, or sing a few karaoke songs if either one of those activities are for you. The 'keeper of the peace' group are friendly. You can sit near the pool tables if the karaoke is too loud for you. The best part was Daniel, the driver of the pick up van!! What a friendly guy, and made the experience even better. I've been here a few times with my dad and always had a good experience. This time was something else. Horrible customer service. I came here after a long day to have a drink. My first vodka red bull tasted like soda, and the second one was even worse. I could've saved money and ordered a Coke. Too bad nobody was there to ask. The waitress never asked how our drinks were, was very rude, and she took forever. When I told her my drink was mostly soda, she rudely took it to the bartender and had him make it stronger while the whole staff was staring at me. I insisted that we had to leave (due to waiting forever) and FINALLY, she gave us our credit card back. I was refunded my drink, but I was never offered something else. I've been in the food service industry for years and she didn't even apologize, care, or do anything aside from waltz around like she hated her job. My decision to have a quick drink after a long day and go to this place was horrible. I honestly went down the street right after and bought a six pack. Shouldn't that tell you enough? The owners are great, but maybe if they read this, they could hire some staff that actually cares. read more
