Unfortunately, fireside lounge didn't have my heart attack in a basket, HOWEVER...that didn't matter Once I took a look at all their other tasty options. Fireside's welcoming, DTE and completely versatile in its patrons. Great music ( early 2000s hiphop ) the night I went made everyone happy. We had been wanting to try this place. We heard there was a great chef. I guess that one didn't last. So now there's Earl. Earl does good barbecue. And very friendly guy. The collards were a little too sweet for my liking. The potato salad was excellent, as was the brisket. The Bartender, Debby, was very friendly. What I don't understand is how smoky it was in there. It was like going to a mid-century speakeasy. The smoke just clings to you like bad cologne. Prices were reasonable, pours were generous to say the least. But the smoke is just intolerable. I don't know how the staff puts up with it. If they could do something about the ventilation, I might come back. I just really didn't need a reminder of how horrible the smoke used to be in California bars, when you'd go home and need a Sharon Silkwood shower to get the stench off you. read more

Fireside Lounge is a hidden gem in a commercial area of Palm Springs. The joint is usually pretty loud with music and people talking, but not excessively. The staff are all very kind & helpful. We usually get to see Katie when we visit & she's great! The pours are generous and they have a full bar to choose from. They also now have food most days! Big Earl's BBQ is located inside and the food is very good. Overall, if you're looking for fun, divey/locals bar without all the fuss & tourist pricing, check them out! read more

I know what you are thinking. How can you give a five-star review to a local dive bar? Well let me tell you this is not just a local dive bar this is a phenomenal Gourmet dive bar. Yes you will find lots of locals here but that's because they are in the know. Jay does a phenomenal job of running the kitchen at the Fireside Lounge. He prepared a ribeye steak and garlic mashed potatoes that was almost or possibly the best ribeye I have ever had. It had a perfect char and was trimmed perfectly and it actually melted in your mouth. If you're fortunate enough to get there when they have the surf and turf special that's another gourmet meal prepared at this local neighborhood dive bar. Lobster tail cooked to perfection beautiful steak with a secret sauce on top cannot go wrong at the Fireside Lounge. I think it could possibly be because Jay truly cares for his customers. While in the desert sneak over to the Fireside Lounge. I almost hate making this public knowledge because it's so quaint and cozy there now. Thanks Jay and I'll see you this weekend. read more

As a dive bar aficionado I would say this one is less than average at least when we were there. Bartender did not wipe the dirty bar top and simple drink was flat. They were out of BBQ early and did not offer any other options. Seemed a friendly sort of place that would be fun but if they can't keep it clean with good basic drinks forget it. read more

Update to my previous post: We've been here several times, but apparently there is a new chef now and allow me to say the jalapeño Swiss burger was one of the best in memory. Perfectly medium rare, carefully prepared. We sat at the bar, and service from Dia was efficient and friendly. Just another reason to dive in at The Fireside. read more

This place used to be a cool place for people from all backgrounds to hang but now it's become a place that's overly political and extremely racialized. Be careful bc there are people who watch your every move and listen to everything you say... Drinks are cheap but so is the clientele and management. I come here often. Love this bar but I wish the pool sticks and balls would be replaced. I understand the outdoor table not being in great shape, but they only have a few sticks for both tables and all of them have busted tips and chipped bodied. The balls have craters. This place is sad. We have been coming here off and on for about a year for good drinks at a good price. Yesterday was our last time. Order our usual drinks and they are served in a SHOT glass with ice (asked for on the rocks). Who wants to sip a drink out of a shot glass?? We ask why the change and just told these are their new cups. And to top it off bartender says "$12" so we hand over our card and ask to keep it open. Decide to leave after one drink cuz c'mon who wants to drink something out of a shot glass. I go up to pay and now the bill is 14$?!?!? I ask why the change and the bartender basically just says that's the price. I say you said 12$ before but no change. Left and went to another bar who had better drink choices and got served a FULL drink in a REAL glass. We are sad that we won't be coming back here. First time here today. Great place! Full of locals who are so friendly and ready to start up a conversation with anyone there. Nice full pours at an amazing price. And don't get me started with the tacos....hit the spot! Easiest way to get here. Head south on Gene Autry, make a right on Sunny Dunes rd. Pass a few industrial buildings and on the right about 500 ft. Look for an opening with a narrow drive way and a parking lot filled with immoral (yet desperate) intentions on the right. Fireside fits all the criteria for what a dive is and should be. *Shady parking lot *Shabby appeal *Locals (with a sense of locality) *Full bar *Music listening machine Apparently to yelp.com I am a regular to this ugly duckling of a swan dive. This fits the bill as it is with walking distance from my habitat. Sometimes, I can't even spell DUI. when I leave there. Upon entering you notice the focal point of the patio/smoking section of a fire-pit hence, the fireside. This is rarely lit as it is about high 90's to about low 100 deg in the evening. Yes, evening as in nighttime. There is a shuffleboard to the left of the entrance with hardly any sand and a pool table played at ¢.75 a game. Surprisingly enough, their cues are relatively straight. Cool feature! Underneath the Telly, directly to the northeast corner are shelves of books. They call it a library, I called it an assortment of dusty books Presumably unread for years, they lie there as relics collecting layers of dirt. The spines and titles almost seem to have a bond or a faint semblance of their previous holders. Conspiring souls, hopeless hearts, and senseless theocrats of whom have disputed fact and fallacy once palmed these pages, used them, and left them behind. Perhaps some of the books that were acquiesced by their beholders could relate to the feeling. Jameson Rocks, pool tables and great pals are what are needed to fill the equation for myself. It can be a tad on the rough side, as it is very concealed. People have been heard in the heat of their shouting matches, which happen to be a comedic moment for me. Go with a few people, stick to your drinks, don't get fancy, and don't make a ruckus, unless you like native skirmishes. Adjacent to a crematory if that isn't a sobering vision as you stumble home. It gives you that warm-fuzzy feeling knowing where the end result (potentially) takes place. Strong pours. Decent array of beers (draft/bottle). Nicely priced. Tip well enough, and I'm sure you'll make an impression for the next time. Take a walk on the wild side. It's not that bad, but it is not good either, e.g. it is the consummate shitty dive here in Palm Springs. But that is the appeal, right? read more

If you're looking for a dive bar, this place is the diviest. It took having to drive for hours to come to a bar that actually would fall into a subcategory of dive bar, toilet bar, where the materials rejected in the creation of a run of the mill dive bar were put up to create this place and attracted patrons banished from local run of the mill dives. It's the land of the misfit alcoholics. Generally for a solid dive, with a good atmosphere and age, I'm loving it. This one actually was so dingy and the patrons were so depressingly sad that it went a bad direction and it was unappealing, if that makes sense. As an example of the extreme atmosphere of this place: I've had a lot of beers before in my life but have never had a rotten one until coming here. When I told the bartender, she got me another one but before giving it to me, did something rather unsanitary to it. AND the price wasn't even that great: $3 coors bottle. In summary, if you're an adventurous person who wants to see something new and wouldn't let possible infection get in the way of that, this is the place to check out. read more

Five Star Dive Bar... Obviously not in the Michelin sense but if you're looking for a quintessential dive bar this is it. Tucked back an industrial area, you wouldn't know it was there -- unless you know it's there! Walk in out of the 105° desert heat to feel a blast of cool air. The a/c is excellent. Turn and look past the pool tables at the bar and there's only one seat left, way over in the far corner. You know you've found a good dive bar when you walk in at 1:45 in the afternoon and it's packed. They carry the standard fare of white American bottled beers, "Americas Lager" (Bun & Bud Light) on tap -- and then a surprise, Lagunitas IPA on draft! (And I thought I'd have to settle for a Coors light bottle). Better yet Flo, the older and very jovial bartender, reached into a chest freezer and pulled out a truly frosted pint glass. I was told that they always pour a "real mans drink", but I stuck with the ale. There is no menu. The food is just whatever the cook happens to be making today. She's the girl in the pink T-shirt sitting at the table against the wall. She started with an apology, in a mild Mexican accent, saying she only had a few things today. I let her finish the simple but adequate selection of bar food items, but didn't pay much attention after she mentioned the tacos. Carne Asada, Pollo, and El Pastor. One of each with onions and cilantro and the red (hot) salsa. Draft craft and three tacos for around than $15! They hit the spot so well, I had to have two more, and another draft - in another of Flo's ice cold glasses. There was a jovial group of old timers at the bar playing early rock & roll on the touch tunes, trying to stump one another. They were all friendly and inviting, coaxing the stranger from out east into the game. It's in a funky spot for sure, but if you happen to out that way, it's worth seeking out. If you really take diapers then it's definitely worth a special trip. read more

I give this place 3 stars even though I'll probably never return there, unless to show it off to friends like a freakshow circus... lol, ok, that's perhaps too cruel.. I have been here several times, many years ago.. Fireside Lounge is the dive-y-est of dives. Its tucked away from the main roads, near the airport, and attracts only the most colorful locals. One of the first times I came, upon arrival into the gritty parking lot, I nearly ran over a stumbling drunk loudly slurring what might've been racist commentary at no one in particular. Besides us, the parking lot was empty.. Another time I was there I sat at the bar with a friend over a beer and together we listened in on the totally hick drunk to my right, who was saying something along the lines of "yeah, if I had a gun, I'd shoot somebody..." We could do or say nothing but awkwardly laugh. The great thing about this place is that there are pool tables and a shuffle board. Its fun to come with friends and stick to our own section of the bar and indulge in its dive-y-ness. But, saying all that, I doubt I'll ever feel the need to return. read more

Not really hard to find, off Ramon going East of Downtown Palm Springs. Its not someplace you would just happen by, you really have to keep your eye out for it. Each time Ive been there its the same thing, dark and crowded. This crowd is a real drinking crowd from sun-up to closing time. Youll find someone eager to talk and youll also find someone really down on their luck. Example: The guy came in for his last double shot of booze before checking in to Betty Ford. His story was told to all who wanted to listen and I wouldnt have missed it for anything. His 3rd DUI in 2 months, wife divorcing him and lost his job that day. Everyone toasted him as he chugged. The drinks are strong and cheap! The place serves food as well so lunchtime burgers and beer are popular. I sit at the bar everytime as you get the most action there. There are TVs for sports and an indoor smoking lounge out back. Just try to stay outta trouble like I didnt. read more
