It's a pretty big bar space. Not your typical bar club scene, but more of a chill bar restaurant vibe. Minus the restaurant as they don't serve food but food can be ordered and delivered to enjoyed from the surrounding businesses next door. All the staffs are so friendly and sweet. I've been coming for a while now and it's like popping into to see a friend behind the counter. The crowd is way more chill and relax versus the bar scene in downtown Palm Springs. It's tends to be more locals that frequent but you do get the out of towner stopping by. Depending on day, they do offered events. Reserved tables are recommended for whatever the event tends to be. Happy hour deals are alway good daily which tends to draw in the crowd. We tend to pop in while happy hour is going on or a night cap after dinner before heading back. This was a last minute decision, and I called to see if we could still get seats after their website cut off happened earlier in the day. The gentlemen I spoke with were very kind and welcoming. If it wasn't for their professionalism and eagerness to ensure we could still get a seat for an almost fully booked appearance with Jay Rodriguez, we wouldn't have drove that far. Live and vivacious in every sense is a Cathedral City must located next to the Mary Pickford Theater with a lot of other great favs. This very welcoming of any and all gay bar on Palm Canyon Drive has a bustling patio, inside, great music, tons of seating (though it goes quick), and a lot to offer. From happy hour specials to actual food by partnering up with Capizzi's Cheesecake-Pizza and then some as well as Trilussa Ristorante, both nextdoor. Plenty of parking if you go early in front, but it can go quick on weekends, especially weekends with events like we often seem to attend. You'll find something, however a rideshare and carpooling absolutely help with this. There is a parking garage that a lot of us seem to forget about because it isn't as conveniently located as all those spots directly next to the Roost. Free Wi-Fi. Good lighting, even at night. Tall tables only, some chairs with back support. Cool neon signs and art. Nice large TVs. Not always a place we gravitate to as much, but hoping to change that over time. First visit and we had a great time. Huge cocktail, beer, and wine lounge serving a mostly gay clientele, but everyone is welcome. The wait staff and bartenders are friendly and efficient. Drink orders were filled in 1-2 minutes, and the place was crowded. The cocktails we ordered (Lemon Drop, Old Fashioned, and a Madres) were well-made and very tasty. They have live music almost every night, and since they don't serve food, they allow you to order from one of the two restaurants next door and have it delivered. The crowd was very lively, and we had a great time dancing to the live performance of local singer, Karen Cobb. We were happy to discover The Roost Lounge and will most definitely be back! read more

I consider myself a part time resident of the Coachella Valley and that grants me the ability and perspective to treat the area like a local and like tourist. I really love The Roost because even though it doesn't have that tourist energy that the bars on Arenas do but provides more of a local's vibe, while still being welcoming of tourists. It seems like they have some kind of evenly going on every night and although the decor seems more like a restaurant vs bar, it's still a nice place to enjoy a beverage, being served with really cool bartenders. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and Michael the bartender helped us out . It's happy hour from 3-5pm. The people around looked like locals. People would come in and strike up conversations with each other. I had the tequila sunrise with the house tequila , and my girlfriend had the peach frozen margarita. I honestly was not a fan of the house tequila. Michael swapped out my drink when I requested for a different tequila. It tasted so much better. The margarita was good. On a Monday early evening, there were a lot of people and Michael said there'd be more people coming since it's open mic piano night from 6-9pm. We had to leave and we came back around 8pm. The people singing had amazing voices. When I left to use the restroom and came back, an older white gentleman was talking to my girlfriend. He had his hand on my seat. The minute he noticed me as I was walking back towards my chair, his whole demeanor changed, and he looked visibly upset. He said something rude to me. Then he proceeded with raising his voice and making racist and weird comments. Whenever my girlfriend tried to speak, he continued to interrupt her. She tried her best to deescalate the situation. We were instantly uncomfortable, felt unsafe, and felt targeted due to our sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds. He got in my girlfriend's face and that's when I gestured for the server to come. My girlfriend made it clear that she already listened to him, he still would not let her speak because he kept interrupting her, and she no longer wanted to have this conversation anymore. He continued to get closer to my girlfriend and the manager stepped in between them. This was when the guy decided to change his story when the manager showed up to make himself look like the victim. Michael apologized to us, told us that he is printing out his bill, and will give it to him. We told Michael that he shouldn't be the one to apologize and it should be that guy who wanted to pick a fight for nothing. Although Michael, the server, and the manager apologized to us, the apologies did not feel sincere. We still felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. The bar still had us pay our bill. We waited for close to 30 mins before leaving because we didn't feel safe leaving the bar yet. We didn't know what this drunk person was capable of. On the way to the exit door, none of the staff asked if we needed anything or offered to walk us to our car. I was surprised of all places that this would happen was a gay bar. They're supposed to be inclusive and safe. That's not how we felt leaving that night. When we got to our car, we looked around to make sure we weren't being followed. We probably won't ever return. We are disappointed with how this bar handled this situation. read more

I love that this big bar is active and popular, and that you can order food from nearby restaurants to be delivered to your table. However, I have two complaints: when they have live music, which is frequent, the sound is far too loud. I actually had to go outside during one performance as I feared damaging my ears. The second issue is the attitude of the staff. Almost all of them seem so miserable! They never smile and do not engage in friendly banter, no matter how busy or slow it is. To me, this indicates poor management. The message is that they don't want to be there, and they're not enjoying themselves. This has a subtle but profound effect on the ambiance of the place, and I don't like it. read more

1st time here and plenty of tables and seating, including an extensive patio. At first I thought it was a restaurant/bar but after speaking to the owner/manager he stated that during the pandemic they paired up with three local restaurants next door and decided to keep their pairing with them (it makes sense as the table tops are big enough). Prices are reasonable (5.55/drink for happy hour, assuming that's with tax) and the staff is very friendly and attentive and had numerous wait staff check in on us. Clientele seemed like an older crowd which is common in PS and Cat City but was lively and not crazy where you couldn't hold a decent conversation. This is a really spacious bar, especially since its recent expansion. It has an impressive full bar, a very casual atmosphere and plenty of seating. The clientele is diverse and the drinks are very well prepared. One nice feature of the establishment is, while inside the bar you can order food from the menus of the two restaurants which flank it and the food gets delivered right to your table it's - a very nice touch. Super rude server tall guy dark hair I invited friends from out of town to see Gennine perform. It seems like he had me and my friends targeted from the beginning was very rude and said we couldn't stand up without a table to watch her sing because you have to have a seat and that part I can understand, but it was very rude about it. Then when Gennine realized that we didn't have anywhere to sit, she found a table for us. He then came over and demanded that we pay without asking what the situation was, I have no issue paying I came to support my friend but he didn't bother to find that out and try to take our order so then we asked to speak to a manager, the manager came and talked to me for a bit but I feel like nothing will come of tbut this dude has been rude on several occasions and for that I don't think I will be returning, it's upsetting because I actually feel unwelcome and I don't want to think it's a race thing but the way he made me and my friends feel it seemed definitely on that level. This is a gay bar, fyi but seems welcoming for all - with the exception of some staff that have a real queen attitude. Shame, because other bartenders/staff were incredibly freindly and gracious. Little mystified by the reservations/tickets. We went to a "show" called hootenanny which sounded fun and the tickets which got you a seat were like $22.50. Maybe I am wrong, but it seemed that you could just walk in without needing a ticket ? The event was a sing along with the house band, yes they were fun and in particular the female lead singer was sparkling. However the sound was not good, the lead guitar was nearly inaudible and sorry to say band, way off key for some of the songs. Points for fun but if you charge for tickets, let's just say step it up a notch. Drinks were potent, it was hard to get waited on at times but anyway - not sure I'll be back. This is our go to when visiting from up the road in Beaumont (40-45 min away). Generally, we prefer skipping Arenas in favor of visiting The Roost Lounge. The owner Jeff McDonald, is an awesome host and has established an excellent location for social fun and events. We've seen performers such as Kristine W, Nikki Harris, and local artist, Brian Scott. As far as a standout cocktail, they have a delicious frozen/blended margarita known as a 'Lava Lamp.' So refreshing! The patrons are primarily locals, who enjoy a chill, non-pretentious vibe. Everyone. Over Thanksgiving weekend, the friends I was staying with took me here my last night. We had such a great time sitting at tables on the sidewalk, enjoying fresh air and the ability to be social safely. Wish we had a place like this in Portland, I would be there all the time. With the new Covid regulations, bars can only open if they serve food so the owners came up with a solution to serve food from Trilussa, the Italian restaurant next door, and even delivery from other restaurants. Brilliant! A win-win that helps everyone during these challenging times. At our table we enjoyed Chicken Parmesan, manicotti, sausage and peppers, and chicken sliders with fries. A very diverse mix of entrees, as diverse as our party! The food was very good, tasty and satisfying. Meals average around $10-12 and with drinks at around $5, the value is beyond exceptional. Inside they had the most gorgeous Noble Christmas tree adorned with tons of white lights, silver tinsel and red ornaments. Nobles are my favorite trees; there is a lot of space between branches so ornaments can hang and be seen. The tree at The Roost was magnificent! Even more so because it was surrounded by lots and lots of fabulous gifts for children in need. So wonderful to see this outpouring of love and generosity from the community when many are struggling themselves. Everyone was wearing masks unless at their own table, which were spaced appropriately apart. No tables inside. The servers wore masks and kept their distance as best they could, getting close only to place the drinks and food down. I saw all Covid policies being followed. Can not wait to get back to Palm Springs and next time, will make sure to stop at The Roost Lounge a few times. read more

Trilussa Italian restaurant is right next door El Pollo Loco is also right next door so you can order your food from either of these and enjoy it at the Roost or you can just order street from the roost. They generally have live entertainment and it's always a gas to enjoy an evening at the Roost. My last visit was a disaster. The moody server at the bar made a Beefeater Martini and a White Claw seltzer. He wasn't going to include the NECESSARY dry vermouth until I asked him to do so. The drink was weak and watery and stingy . The glass was taken half up by 3 colossal olives.At $27 for 1 drink and 1 seltzer at happy hour, this amounted to usury!
