Josh Rushlow, General Manager, has proven that chivalry is not dead and that true gentlemen still exist. My son was visiting Palm Springs over spring break and spent his last night out at Neil's Lounge. Unfortunately, he had to catch an early morning flight home to Oregon and didn't realize his phone was missing until it was too late. With help from friends, we retraced his steps and found his phone at Neil's Lounge. Josh answered my call, verified he had my son's phone, and offered to get it in the mail overnight and fronting the expense. He said that he trusted me to reimburse him once the phone was on its way. This man went out of his way and above and beyond to help someone he didn't even know. I am sure he deals with a lot of interesting people and situations managing a bar... and that is what makes this gesture even more impactful. People like this are a rare commodity in this world we live in now. This place sucks.went there with friends.there six of us. 2 us.. At 8 pm they told us we had to order cause Karoke was starting and we hurried and ordered. Two people in our party got their food. After half an hour we were still waiting for our food. Went to the kitchen to ask where our food was, they said we ordered at different times, which was a lie. We we ordered at the same time. We waited so long, we canceled. We asked for the manager and were told Josh the manager wasn't there on a Fridsy night. We left without eating. We will never go there again. If I could give less I would, I called ahead and spoke with a woman who said that if my 18 year old sister was coming in with a group of adults she would be fine, we were specifically coming for karaoke. Iv never written a bad review about an establishment nor am I one too. But what happened at Neils tonight left me outraged. I went in and bought a couple drinks for my friend and I. We were talking to a couple other people at the bar when the bar tender comes up and says, "hey buddy, let me teach you a little life lesson" and proceeds to show me the amount of tip this person left, versus the amount of tip I left. Its not that I'm angry about the gentlemen (bald and beard person) feeling short changed, as I would gladly help him out with more tip money. However, the manner and attitude which he presented was not called for. After changing it to a $4 tip for opening a coors light and making my friend a drink, he proceeds to compare that to the other patrons $10 tip, and no thank you or anything after I was willing to listen to his feelings. For this reason I feel bad because it is not necessarily a reflection on the establishment, but the individual who serviced me. I own businesses and if I had a say, this person would have been fired on the spot and replaced because that is not how I would want my customers to be treated. Great hole in the wall spot. I went by myself as I was in town on business and had no one to go with. Sat at the bar and was immediately invited into conversation with a group of locals. Chris and Lisa the Bartrnders are really nice. Happy hour prices till about 9pm. I had a double Tito's in the rocks and it was 11.00. Great price. An old school place. They recently opened a new on-site kitchen and food is amazing. This is a dive bar and they embrace that as do I! Burgers, wings, chili to die for among other options, even salads. Want to customize it? Want to know if they have something? Just ask. The regulars, locals and snow birds make for a lot of great conversations. COLD beer! They have karaoke at night but I haven't been there for that. It's like your home town little bar. If you're into the "dive bar" scene this is the place for you. They have karaoke every night which is AWESOME. A lot of the people singing are actually very good too! Best dive bar in CA if you like kareoke. Security is a little weird but easy to deal with.

I was actually invited here by my friend that was getting married this past weekend. I've known him a bit so I trust him. He gives me verbal directions and places emphasis on me parking at the Circle K. I do. We walk towards the front entrance and meet up with a guard that is flossing a black polo with yellow block letters on his back that read: Keeper Of The Peace. WTF? Just in time a couple bouncers are removing three gangstas from within. Bouncer looks over at us and states that the bar is shutdown by orders of the security manager. Wow, ok we decide to wait. A bunch of Whiskey Tangos a.k.a. White Trash start exiting this spot. Eventually we gained access. The best way for me to explain this place is simple. Picture a prison holding cell with alcohol, a karaoke area and small dance floors. I was on heightened alert mode the entire time. I had Hispanic gangstas to my left, drunk whiskey tangos to my right, drunk whiskey tango females fondling each other on the dance floor dancing to Cher and Sonny Bono "I Got You." This place was just unevenly unsafe. The drinks were cheap. But, I would have preferred to have not left my gat in the car. read more

I didn't stay for karaoke too early had a beer at the bar. Seems like a great place the yelp reviews show it to be a fun and lively scene. I am taking off one star because their draft beer selection sucks. Bud, Coors, Miller I think, that's about it. Not great choices and stuck in the 70's . How about some awesome American and foreign beers on tap ? Sam Adams, Stella Artois, Bass Ale, a micro brew or two. Public tastes have moved way beyond generic beer and are willing to pay for more premium selections. And its really not that much more expensive than Coors and Bud. I will stay for the karaoke but not the beer. But haven't yet tried their cocktails. Maybe that will make up for the limited draft beer selections. read more

This place is a locals hang out so if you're new in town you'll surely stick out. They did have karaoke going on just as you enter the bar. The back area has 2 quarter pool tables and again the locals play and are a bit territorial. Locals will let you play on the back table but not the front unless you beat someone. Locals were quite friendly with us and we ended up teaming up to play some pool games. We closed out the night with last call. Overall a good time. Would return. read more

This place is inviting to all crowds - locals, tourists, the young, the old. The atmosphere is fun, warm and inviting. The bartenders have a great sense of humor, and are fast with their service. The cook takes extreme care in his food deliveries, and likes to make sure you're taken care of. The karaoke DJ keeps the entertainment on point by engaging the entire audience through a fair song/singing rotation. There is no minimum drink requirement in the bar, you can drink soda or water all night without pressure from the bartenders. What I really love about this place is how friendly the crowd is! Doesn't matter how well or bad you sing, what matters is how much fun you have. The way the crowd cheers and sings along with you keeps the experience full of fun! This place is open 7 days a week, and I've been in during different days and times. One time it was early evening and I fell in love with the older folks singing oldies, and having fun. There really is something for everyone here, and I have fallen in love with the place. Walked into this place with great expectations since I love dive bars. Boy was i impressed. First off they offer shuttle service to and from the bar which is simply amazing. Beer offering are pretty standard on draft but had better bottles. Karaoke is great here Saturday nights. Big crowds and good singers. Definitely can see this place being my local bar. Only thing that alarmed me a bit was there was like 4 armed security guards present. Security seemed cool. Definitely a must stop if your in the area. read more

I was here once when the power line behind the bar came down out of no where (scary!). We were allowed to finish our drinks and the bbq we ordered before we got booted. This is probably my favorite memory here. It's a very no nonsense dive, unless you count their two nights a week of "Golden Era Karaoke. Then it gets weird, in a "I wonder if my grandma would sing at a bar if she were still alive" way. When I have work in Coachella Valley we usually end up spending a few evenings here during the month. The bartenders are friendly, the folks I've met are all great and they have hilarious purse hangers in the bathroom. As i write this review, I want you to know that i am directing the following to the owner of Niel's Lounge. You have a huge liability in your establishment and his name is Anthony, or "Tony". I had gone to Niel's a few times in between the week and had never had any issues. Security out front was polite and service at the bar was great. I thought this establishment was great. Well, that all changed, Saturday, September 7th. My friend came out of town and we decided to go to Niel's along with my Fiance. We get to the front door and we encountered Tony. He takes my ID and stares me down and hands my ID to the other security to take a look at and he OK'd it. Then he takes my friends ID and does the same. He made us extremely uncomfortable by the way he was looking at us. He then takes my Fiance's ID and points towards the door, so we start trying to make our way in. He then says "no" and signals with his hands to back away from the door. He continues to point and we are standing there confused. Then the other security guard tells my fiance to hold his arms out, and my fiance tells them "tell me what you want me to do, give me some direction instead of just pointing". Tony then says in a very aggressive manner, "Do you have a problem?" My fiance says "No, just give me some direction". Tony just kept repeating do you have a problem, because if you do, we can have a problem". My Fiance' told him again he had no problem, but he needs to tell him what to do. Tony then stated, he needs to search you. My Fiance did not hear him and responded by saying "What?" and then Tony got defensive again. He kept repeating "Do you have a problem" as if he was trying to instigate an argument and get my Fiance to become as aggressive as he was being. After about 2 minutes of Tony puffing up his chest and trying really hard to start what seems like a fight, I yelled out " What the hell is going on?!" I advised tony that he needed to stop, he was pointing at the door and was giving no direction. On top of that, My Fiance suffers from hearing loss and cannot hear what he said which is why he responded by saying "What". Tony then backed off and the other guy let us in. I wanted to let you know that when we walked in and a couple of people told us that Tony does this to a certain group of people, which includes young ladies and shorter white men, but will not dare to do this to Hispanic males, which i found to be Crazy, but seems like everyone is aware of his behavior. If this is how he handles sober patrons at the front door, i wonder how he handles people that are under the influence of alcohol. I unfortunately, I will not be coming back to this establishment after this incident. It was extremely uncomfortable, invasive, and highly inappropriate. I felt unsafe before stepping foot into your bar, and if i had not deescalated the situation and his behavior, who knows what lengths Tony would have gone to. And after reading the reviews, and seeing that he has caused multiple issues, I cannot believe that you would have someone still working there who is aggressive, picks on people, and has what seems to be anger issues. I hope that you take the complaints that people are posting about Tony seriously. If not, good luck to the future people who encounter him at the front door. read more

I would like to rescind my previous good rating and leave a horrible rating. Tonight I felt more disrespected and unwelcome that I ever have in my life (and I've been to Iraq) So, I've come to this bar probably a couple hundred times. Most of the staff if not all, know me by name and will have nothing but good things to say about me. I tip good, have never caused a problem, I'm a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. I got here a little late (45 min before closing) I've never had a problem getting in. The only one who ever gives me problems is Tony the security. Always for no good reason even though I'm always cordial and nice to him. He has this pretentious attitude, and a fake professionalism that makes it hard to stomach. He has seen me hundreds of times but acts like he doesn't know me every single time. I don't know about you but that seems like a bad trait for a security guard. It also seems like he is singling me out every time I come here which in most books is harassment. So I don't know I have been here hundreds of times and I get harassed even though I tip well, I never cause problems and I'm a near perfect patron. Anyways he didn't let me in but he let people in after me and I was celebrating and going to drop a couple hundred dollars. Now I'm just gonna leave this review and probably never come here again. Once again. I have spent thousands if not tens of thousands here and never caused a problem. Tony is the reason for probably every bad review you get. That is such b s how I was treated and I really want a face to face apology and the reasoning to why I wasn't let in but two strangers that weren't regulars were.
