Since I'm not much of a gambler, I figured why not walk in and donate my yearly $20 to the slot machines Parking was super easy right up front, and they also have a garage that leads directly into the casino. The front door security guard was really friendly too, he laughed when I told him, "I'm just here to give away my $20, I'll see you in 2 seconds." And honestly... I wasn't lying I put my $20 in, lost it immediately, and was back out in about .2 seconds. That said, it was still a fun little experience. The casino itself felt clean, quaint, and easy to navigate. Definitely a nice stop if you want to stretch your legs, play a little for fun, and get back on the road. Just maybe keep it to a small amount... at least that's my strategy Stop in for the stretch but leave your wallet and purse in the car and only take in an amount you won't cry over if you lose. read more

This review is just for the FREE 3-day overnight RV parking: Most Casino's these days are NO longer allowing RV overnight parking unless you are renting one of their rooms, which makes sense to some.... However, this Casino is the few who are still friendly and allow a 24/48/72 hours passes you get at the Security window that you place on your RV window as they do have visible Tribe Police Officers along with Armed Gunman Security inside as well ..... Strong Team that makes this Parking lots of RV's Mixed with lots of Semi's feel adventurous as well ..... Highly recommend this for a 3-day pit-stop.... P.S They have a 24-hours Cafe inside ..... This is my new favorite Southern CA casino. I went here for the first time and made out like a bandit! JK, not really. I walked in with $20 and out with $60. Not bad for paying the penny slots. I called it quits around 1030pm cuz we had a long drive ahead of us the next morning. I would've liked to stay. They're celebrating 29 years this year. Opened in 1999. Approaching the Desert on I-10 south on our annual week long golf getaway, hubby noticed a billboard about Kenny G performing at a casino. We googled it later and found he's playing at Spotlight casino in Coachella. Where's that we wondered. After dinner in Indio we decided to check out the casino. We entered the casino and asked the security guard by the entrance. He noticed the box office was closed but said we could purchase show tickets at the cashier's. So we hustled over to cashier window. They use Ticketmaster and claim you avoid an additional service fee although we did pay one of $6 plus $43.50 for ticket. The showroom holds about 2k. There's no bad seat as it's a small venue. All the folding chairs are attached. We sat center in section 204, row JJ, seats 6-10. There are two screens - left and right. The lighting was a little weird. Very bright at times shining out into the audience. The sound was fine. We parked in the parking garage so it took time to exit. What I noticed was the amount of security. I guess that's a good thing. read more

I recently attended a concert at the Spotlight 29 Casino Showroom. I'd been there before but it was a LOOONG time ago and I didn't remember much about the seating and layout. Finding info about the venue and seating was tricky, so maybe my two cents here can help another with selecting seats! The venue is fairly smallish, I mean not tiny by any means, but a venue where pretty much every seat is going to be pretty good just because it isn't a giant stadium. As I was purchasing tickets as a surprise birthday gift, I wanted front row or something great, but the great seats in the front & center were pretty much all sold out. I did notice from the pictures online that they also seemed to have some booths between the 1st and 2nd and then the 2nd and 3rd sections. I did a bunch of research and spoke to an employee about what those were all about and found that these are "VIP booths". She told me that you can get bottle service there or you can just order what you want to drink. When you purchase a seat there, you have to purchase all six seats. I did end up purchasing six seats, but only four of us attended. I think it was much more comfy for four, but six not giant people would fit fine. I honestly liked the seats just because it was comfortable. We could see the stage great. Music was good. I don't know if the service would be more attentive if you get bottle service, but I felt like there was just one person for all of the booths and so there were waits between being able to order. Also we were only seeing one band, so we weren't there a long time, so not sure if bottle service would be worth it although the prices there are definitely less than at a nightclub, so if you want to do that, could be fun. Hope this helps anyone else trying to understand the seating arrangement. But, call the boxoffice and they can guide you through your questions. The person I spoke to was very helpful. Wow. We were away for a few years so we were incredibly surprised to see the changes. We stayed in an rv in their parking lot for a very generous 72 hours. Security was amazing. Very kind and I felt safe there. The casino is spotless and even though its a smoking casino you can't smell cigarette smoke. They have a nice air freshener scent that masks everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. Slots for us were loose. Now comes the best part...the food. It has changed for the better and we loved it. The pizza was perfect. Salads awesome and big. I couldn't finish mine The coffee place was a hit and tomorrow we are trying the steak. I am not sure if they hired an exec chef or food and beverage manager but I am a chef and they have knocked the food out of the park. Excellent stay over. Can wait to come back. read more

This was the first time I have been to this casino. It gets its name from the Twenty-nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. Parking was a breeze, several employees with lighted batons were in the parking lot and ramp to the multi-storied lot to guide us. We entered the casino on the second floor and walked along the gaming tables and slot machines to the showroom. There were four lines at the showroom entrance. We had e-tickets to show from our cell phone to the ticket-taker at the door. The aisles and rows were NOT cleared marked, thankfully. there were Ushers to point us to the correct section. Pleaae note, there are multiple bars inside to buy refreshments, the lines were much shorter than the long lines out by the entrance. Overall, I was very pleased with the layout, helpful employees, and cleanliness of the showroom, restaurants, gambling area and the bathrooms were recently remodeled. We have now been here for two shows. Earlier in the year, we saw Blues Traveler and last night we were honored to witness Billy Ocean. The seating for both shows played a HUGE part in our experience. The sight lines and the sound, as well as the overall presentation was SO MUCH nicer from the second level. Getting in, seated and getting out of the casino after the show is a DREAM. We live about 14 miles away and we were home in a snap. All the staff was very welcoming and the location was clean. Man, Billy Ocean was a nice surprise at a spry age of 74. Review of Spotlight 29 Casino - Extremely Disappointed with Security Staff My friend has been a regular visitor of Spotlight 29 Casino for years, frequently spending thousands of dollars each week. However, his recent experience has made me seriously reconsider ever returning -- all thanks to an utterly frustrating and disrespectful encounter he had with one of their security employees, Joe. On July 6th, he attempted to redeem a $16 voucher after the slot machine failed to credit his account and instead returned the ticket. The self-service kiosk wouldn't accept the voucher, so he requested assistance. He waited over an hour with no resolution. Frustrated but still hopeful, he returned on July 18th around 2 AM to try again. That's when things took a bizarre and unacceptable turn. After waiting another 30+ minutes, Joe, a security guard with a clear power complex and little understanding of customer service, confronted my friend. He falsely accused him of possessing casino property -- the same $16 voucher he had legitimately received from a slot machine on July 6th. Instead of offering help or even basic courtesy, Joe chose to escalate the situation with rude, condescending, and completely unfounded accusations. Since it was late and this was obviously going no where fast, he decided to leave the property without his voucher or the $16 he was owed, still being treated like a criminal over a minor issue that could have been resolved in minutes. To make matters worse, after he got home, my friend received a phone call from Joe at 3:55 AM, where he again rudely accused my friend of "manipulating" a machine and declared that his credits would not be honored. For a casino that he has consistently supported, to be treated this way -- and over $16 -- is beyond insulting. This kind of treatment should be a red flag to anyone thinking about spending their time or money at Spotlight 29 Casino. If this is how they treat loyal patrons over a $16 voucher, imagine how they'll act when something more serious arises. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being insulted, falsely accused, and treated like a criminal by a guy who probably watched too many episodes of "Cops" and now thinks he's running the FBI. Joe, maybe try patrolling a parking lot somewhere -- you might be more qualified for that. read more

We visited the Spotlight Casino to see a concert. We decided to dine in their brewery before the show. The food was fantastic. It was just basic sort of brewery food. I had a burger and it was a little bit on the dry side. The service was excellent. It was a nice place to hang out before the show. We didn't really see too much of the casino, but we enjoyed the music venue. The bathrooms were clean. We took advantage of the valet parking, which is free. Be sure to leave a tip! Went on Thanksgiving. Noonish, not too many people. We were seated quickly. Before long our order was taken which was the turkey dinner. Soon the manager comes to our table for a little chat, very personable. Our salad came. It was one of the top salads I've had in my life. Pumpkin seeds, kind of candied and crunchy were mixed throughout. Delicious. Back comes the manager, "how was the salad?" Everything wonderful. The dinner came next. One person wanted all white meat, another all dark meat. They met our requests. The typical Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. Moist turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, sweet potatoes, candied with rolls. We asked for extra cranberry sauce and got it. The manager and the assistant manager both showed up asking about the dinner. Next came the pie which was a little disappointing. It looked and tasted like a pie you could buy at any grocery store. I wanted to check out the gambling in this casino but I was surprisingly disappointed. Firstly there was very little lighting leading into and around the casino area while I was driving there. The signage was very poor and it took a few minutes to find a parking spot. Once inside the casino seemed mildly busy. As time wore on, I think more people were visiting the restaurants, bars and shows that were playing on the Friday evening. The food and drink areas are very small and cosy. The slot games were pretty lousy with their jackpots. Most winnings did not cover the bet size I played. Only the Karma Kat slot gave a nice jackpot win. Spotlight 29 is honestly great. It's pretty nice inside. A bit better than what I expected at this casino. The reason I give it 5 stars is due to their amazing player rewards. We got $30 gift cards from the local tennis tournament and when we showed up they gave us an extra $20 each plus 50% off drinks. Haven't been to too many casinos out here but the handful I've been to always smell AMAZING!! I guess they only have certain casinos that allow smoking, this one being one of them. We were very surprised coming here recently because we were expecting a nice, perfumey fragrance and got hit with the smoke. Not necessarily a bad thing and honestly it just reminded us of Vegas. We still enjoyed being here, played a few games on my favorite machine, grabbed some whiskey at their bar, and even had dinner at the Asian kitchen! They have a taproom which we want to try next time we visit. Great sized casino and had a great time. But! I did end up having a slight headache towards the end of the night since we were there a few hours and the smoke probably got to me. Staff were very helpful and were rounding a lot to make sure all aspects were being handled, whether it was ticket refills, cleaning machines or straightening chairs to welcoming those that won their games. The place does smell like cigarettes, and this was noted in earlier entries here, but it's a casino. Unless they eliminate these players, this can't be eliminated. This place seems like their expanding, so maybe their will be some additional changes and new opportunities in the games. We are at the brewery and the food was pleasant. Nothing extraordinary. I will say, the prime rib looked good, but we had a big lunch so smaller meals for dinner this run. Anyway, not a horrible place. As a truck driver, this is one of my favorite spots to stop and take my break. I appreciate the clean restrooms as well as the good food in the Taproom 29. The slots are hit or miss, just like any other casino; you win some and you lose some, or break even (my current experience so far). I haven't tried the blackjack or baccarat games, but one thing I wish they did have was a poker room, especially with all these truck drivers and travelers coming through here, I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of action. I enjoy getting a good breakfast here (and it's reasonably priced) after waking up from my 10-hour break. That, plus a pot of coffee gets me refreshed and ready to hit the road again. read more

I got 29 REASONS YOU SHOULD VISIT! #1-29: This is FIREBIRDS Territory LOL. Jk, despite the constant advertising you've probably seen, it's hard to miss Coachella's Spotlight 29 Casino. It's a local favorite and it's easy to understand why. It's a very spacious location and there's great food and entertainment! I've been here for Firebirds watch parties at the large entertainment hall and had a great time! Spotlight's Taproom 29 is also home to watch parties if you're interested in any sports, craft beer and yummy food! There's also an Asian-inspired restaurant and a bar/sandwich shop. There's a good mix of patrons that come, lots of families visit for the food! Spotlight is right off the 10 freeway and easy to get to, there's plenty of parking out front. My only concern this time is that there was a smoke smell. It happens once in a while but I really don't care for it when I walk in and surprised with it. Most of the time I don't get a smoky scent, but be careful. Oh and the restrooms need to be a little cleaner, it's not a major problem but they need to be checked on more. read more

Spotlight 29 Casino is such a gem. It's always a great time here. I do miss the Jem Steakhouse, but the Taproom 29 is a great addition. I also love the bars in the casino and the theater for concerts. I've seen more concerts than I can count here. The theater is one of my favorite venues for a show. Ambiance here is fun, casual, and a true classic casino. Service is always great as well. We brought my grandpa for the first time, and he had a wonderful time. read more

Taproom 29 was very crowded and we got terrible service. Had to flag down a waiter to get a menu. Never saw that waiter again. Had to flag down another waitress to order a drink. Finally a waitress came back with 2 drinks but they were both not what we ordered. The couple at the table next to us was having the same issues and had to send back their food order. Finally got our burgers and they were way overdone for our tastes. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is we have been here twice before and gotten xlnt food and service. We stayed to see the main show comedian Lorrie Morgan. We bought the best seats available (front section right side $95each plus service charge. For some reason she spent the whole show on the left side of the stage. We did have a video screen of her performance but that was a disappointment. Before moving to the Coachella Valley, I was never much of a casino person. However, moving here has taught me to seek out places that have action and free AC. I very much enjoy Spotlight 29. I do, however, miss an old feature that was removed in their recent remodel. There used to be a huge display that was a large scale version of the rain oil lamps from the 70s. I loved staring at that. The buffet is gone, but in its place is a fantastic brewery/restaurant. I have grown to love the yakisoba there. Service is good. Prices are fine. Portions are huge. During busy times, you'll have to wait to get seated, however. There is a good variety of slot machines. However, over the past few months, I have grown to like one, in particular. It is an older machine, Weird, Wicked, Wild. The theming is supposed to be spooky. It has some strange sound effects, like a wolf howling, a devious laugh, and tinkling. I don't know why, but that machine just does it for me. I find myself playing it almost exclusively. Smoking was banned for a while, but it seems to be back. Even so, I don't feel like I leave 29 smelling too strongly of smoke. I find myself going there, every week. There is a large flat lot and a parking structure. There used to be several walk-up windows for different kinds of food. Those have been replaced with an Asian-themed restaurant that serves ramen and poke bowls. A whisky bar and a coffee shop were added near the escalator. Self-serve drinks were removed. The non-smoking area has older machines. There is a large bar in the center of the gaming area. read more
