The customer service in the formal dress section upstairs is absolutely amazing! They were very helpful and kind!

I live about 1.5-3 hrs away from Neimans, and on a recent trip to FW i decided to treat myself to a handbag...well the bag arrived and i hated it. So how does this Neimans location fit in? Well on another trip to a big town, this time SA, I had to stop by and see if i could exchange my bag. Honestly the bag selection was smaller than i was hoping for, especially compared to the FW location, but the staff was super friendly & helpful with my return. read more

The workers are rude and prejudice towards young brown people. My husband bought me sunglasses for Christmas and I was going to exchange them because they did not fit. Well I waited for bout 15-20 mins in the sunglasses section and no one came to help me. So I went to look for a sale associate. On my way to purchase the glasses I asked about a promotion they had posted, the SA wasn't sure so she had asked her supervisor and the whole time the supervisor was there she did not make contact with me at all. She didn't look at me, she didn't speak to me directly she would tell the sales associate and the sales associate had to tell me while she was standing 5 feet from me. So because I look young and I'm Hispanic, they wouldn't take me seriously. Shame on them. read more

I came into this location to try on a louboutin heel to see what size I was in (EU) for a graduation gift. I ended up going to the general shoe section because no one was in the louboutin area. I asked a worker for help and she pointed me in the direction of an employee named Jena. Jena only grabbed one pair for me and when it didn't fit I asked if I can possibly try on another style in my correct size so I know what to tell my mom to get for my graduation gift. She said she wouldn't be able to do that because she would have to "go look through all the shoes" in which I responded "can you not use y'all's system to find any style in my size?" She then immediately walked off and said "oh my client is here excuse me". Very disappointed considering I have spent my money with this location a few times in the past and I am no stranger to the company. Very dismissive and rude. I've had so much better encounters with my SA in the north park location in Dallas. What a shame. I felt discriminated against only because I was wearing very comfortable loungewear...... Big D! You can tell I'm Texas by the cut in my Neiman Marcus jeans. I like to go shopping here for his & hers submarines, Gucci shoes, Prada neckerchiefs, Balenciaga ascots and all the hippest stuff. It's called "Fashion" Brenda! This place is so cool- they keep things clean, sharp, colorful. I love their displays- they are always keeping it fresh with new designs, new seasonal wares, new looks as they come in. Yea, things may be a bit on the 'needless markup' side, but that's what makes Neiman's so great. You don't need a tiki sweatshirt, but you want it. That's what matters. They sell all the odoriferous perfumes and cosmetics you can think of. Their shoe selection is unmatched in the Alamo city. The staff has always been pleasant, professional, and full of great opinions on everything - everything. Parking is easy. This location is out at La Cantera, and there's a scenic view from the parking lot of the Rattler in Six Flags. My favorite thing about this location is all the public artwork, the permanent additions that they took the care to do large scale colorful installations. Nice. read more

Sales associates are wildly dismissive of the plains dressed consumer. I've been in here several times and I have to actively seek to break up an employee huddles only to a roll of eyes and sighs. I was nervous enough coming here since I am young and the sales staff would assume I was going to waste their time by trying on things just for fun. Little did the sales staff know I was going to be a quick commission, in and out, with a specific bridesmaid dress in mind. I bought a lovely Aidan Mattox dress for the wedding that I am in love with, but I wish I could've gotten it at Saks because they are much more friendly there and I would preferred to have given THEM my money. Even as I was buying the dress, they were still rude to me, as if they were losing money and I was wasting their time. They didn't have my size in stock so the sales lady, Robin, ordered it from a store in Illinois and was less than enthused during the whole thing. I called the next day (to follow up on if the dress had shipped or not), dealing with a different girl, (Lori, Laurie, whatever) who talked to me like I was stupid. This tells me it wasn't just a fluke the first time with Robin. Also I was sure there were going to be complimentary alterations to my dress that I paid full price for (not on sale). They said the alterations would cost as much as my dress, so I said I will go to my own seamstress who I have used for years. They promptly corrected me saying "it would cost the same no matter where you go." I thought the customer was always right? How about responding with "Yes ma'am, no problem." This was my first time at NM and from the moment I walked in, asking questions about where to go to find formal wear, each employee made it very clear I was not worth their time. My advice to NM is: don't judge customers by their appearance. It's not like the store was busy on a Monday during the middle of the day - what's the harm in taking care of me when y'all are doing nothing but talking to other coworkers behind the counter? UPDATE: I called to check on my dress again. Once again a young girl was being rude to me. In the middle of calling out a long number to her the phone is handed to a different girl. They start answering a question that I didn't even need answered, so I interrupted her to get my actual question answered. As it turns out, if you are a bit** back, poof! they treat you with respect. Great online customer service & follow up. Had a discount code for 15% and was unable to use it to purchase a specific brand (excluded) but didn't realize it until after I had begun the purchase. They followed up via email after a feedback survey(you never know if those are automated or not!) after I expressed frustration about the process being confusing with the sign up discount, they credited my account for the discount, although they certainly didn't have to. When you've got to look good for any occasion, N-M is the store for class and quality. You'll find all of the top fashion designers. Unfortunately this San Antonio store isn't large enough to offer the variety of much bigger stores in larger markets (e.g., L.A, Chicago, Miami, Houston, etc.). However, I enjoy the special events that the store offers, including guest appearances by the likes of David Yurman or representatives of John Hardy, Brioni or Zegna. Not too many retailers offer you a refreshing beverage as you shop, just don't spill your wine on the Brunello Cucinelli's. Cheers. read more

I would give it a five star, except that it is too expensive! The customer service is fabulous and the clothes are beautiful. I love the lingerie department - they have the best nightgowns and pajamas in town! I recommend getting a Neimans card just for this reason! If you purchase items on your card, then you get on the mailing list and will receive catalogs in the mail and can look for the sales. The salespeople serve you water and/or soft drinks while you are shopping. The water is in a cool personalized butterfly box! Love that. They have a really good restaurant located inside the store on the second floor - Mariposa. Great lunch place that is unique and different for San Antonio. read more

Started out at Macy's, but the employees were so busy socializing they didn't notice and/or care about the groups of people browsing the fragrance area. Came to Neiman and what a difference commissions make. Issa was genuinely interested in helping us and spent a lot of time with us, giving suggestions on what seasons to wear which fragrances, etc. We even left with samples. So why the missing stars? A lot of the [tester] fragrances that they had out on the floor were either completely empty or there were no tester strips to spray anything on. I also feel like they should take a page out of Nordstrom's book and have atomizer bottles out so if you want to try a fragrance out and see how it really wears on you, you can. Let's be honest, fragrances wear on skin a lot differently than they do a piece of card stock paper. Not to mention for the prices you're paying for these fragrances, it would be a real shame to get one that ended up not lasting or that gave you any other sort of buyer's remorse. And if Nordstrom's had the fragrance I wanted in-stock I would buy it from them to support their decision to do this because I realize as a retailer there's a higher cost associated with doing this and I appreciate that they let you try these fragrances out without any pressure (there's literally buckets full of atomizers so you can fill them with any fragrance and try them out even without talking to or being approached by an associate - perfect for people like me who hate shopper stalkers). read more

While the Operations Manager, Christian Rupert was WONDERFUL in ultimately handling my return (as a very kind exception), department head, "Diane" provided me the WORST service EVER. I've received better treatment at Target and Walmart. A little over 1 month ago, I purchased a $95 t-shirt amongst several items that amounted to over $1000 in purchases. I washed the t-shirt according to instructions and it shrunk. I never wore the t-shirt but I had disposed of the tags by then. Because it had been washed, the department head had to provide approval. I didn't think it was a big deal, so had no issue with it. First, she kept me waiting for some time. When she finally arrived, she didn't apologize for her delay, nor did she introduce herself or ask me how she could help me. I explained the situation to her. While I was explaining that it shrunk I also noticed it was stained and called it out to her right then and there. I had nothing to hide - my reason for returning was the shrinkage. She kept questioning me in a condescending tone as if I was trying to take advantage of NM. She flat out refused to accept my return because it was not in "sellable" condition. I explained to her that their vendor let them down and that I couldn't believe they didn't have a process by which to stand by their goods if it didn't stand up to washing instructions. I also explained to her that about 6 months ago, I'd purchased a $300 jar of neck cream that was EMPTY when I got it home. When I returned it, the associate apologized profusely and replaced it immediately with no questions asked. I asked condescending Diane if that jar was in "sellable" condition. She said that hadn't been her call to make. I asked her to make an exception in my case AND do the right thing to keep the customer happy. She refused so I asked for the store manager. Enter Christian Rupert who was patient, understanding and kindly asked me to explain the situation. He did point out that I was over the 30 day return policy by 4 days but would make an exception and accept my return. I believe the difference is that he listened to me and BELIEVED me. Unlike Diane who's tone was inappropriate towards the customer - and appeared devoid of the concept of repeat business. The other thing that shocked me was that when I attempted to explain to Diane that I was a loyal and regular customer and spent a lot of money at NM (in fact, I'd just bought a pair of Louboutins and a new Vuitton handbag the day before) she made it a point to tell me that I wasn't the only customer to spend a lot of money there. That was quite rude. Like I said...I've been treated better and had more positive experiences at Target and Walmart. It will be a very long while before I consider ever shopping here again. read more

As noted by other reviewers the service is a complete macabre and in many ways a dichotomy. The salespeople will unapologetically wait on customers who appear in fake or "designer inspired" clothing, but the ones (like myself) who need simple service to get in and out and execute a quick sale=we get no treatment. What makes it especially egregious is the "faux" Designer imposter shopper ends up waisting time when she intends on buying nothing. Prime example the new Louis Vuitton store. I won't even explain that issue. This is San Antonio, I'm sure those of you who have been to other places, aren't provincial, see this as a weird joke. NYC, San Fransisco, Las Vegas. Much busier yet the salespeople act nothing like rude subprime Neiman workers. It's not Barney's. Avoid!!! if possible Saks is better service or use Bloomingdales or Barneys websites they don't charge tax since they have no stores here and it's simple to return. Sometimes the service is good, most times the service is bleh. Some of the staff can be kind of snooty. When you need assistance here it's hard to come by. Went here to get a dress for a wedding and the girl seemed kind of put out when I asked for a dressing room and then even more so put out when I found more items that I wanted to add to the dressing room. She only became nice when I was checking out. Guess when you spend money the nice side of them comes out. Shouldn't it be the other way around, give good customer service in hopes that you sell a product?! Just wondering. So I've been using Yelp for years and have never written a review. But this Neiman Marcus really pissed me off today. I go in looking for a Guerlain product, I know exactly what I want but I look around first for a bit. Not one salesperson says "hi" to me or anything. I go over to the Guerlain counter and a woman greets me, I need a little more time just to look at other product. The woman leaves the counter to go talk to her coworkers or something, and is slowly replaced by a woman who does not work that counter. I told the woman what I wanted and she kept telling me that they don't make that product, it doesn't exist. She only tells me that because she's knows nothing about the product and they're actually just out of it. She doesn't fetch anyone else to help me, she just tries to make me feel stupid. I know this line well, I'm pretty damn sure they make it. I ended up walking out, feeling like I wasted my time, when I'm sure they just assumed that I wasted theirs. I'm going to stick to ordering online, because these employees are truly atrocious. No wonder the store is always a graveyard. read more

He told me to come back with my sports coats so he could show me option of jeans for the respective jackets. Visited on Sunday, January 28 approximately 30 minutes after opening. The store was relatively empty of regular customers. Decided to purchase a Coach coin purse. Had a very hard time finding someone to actually ring me up. Hmmmm, very strange. Nobody wanted to help me. The sales associate was busy with a phone transaction. She acted like I was bothering her. She very rudely told me it would be awhile as clearly my purchase was interrupting her. She was visibly annoyed. One store for the male SA who came to the rescue and tried to ring me up. Somehow he couldn't find a register that wasn't engaged in phone transactions and had to take me to the cosmetics department. I contacted NM twice about this incident but was ignored. I hate to say it, but this was clearly a case of racial discrimination and profiling. I have never received treatment like this at the Palo Alto CA location where the SAs are super helpful. My husband and I are both Asian. All the SAs in this location we saw, were of a different race. Is this how customers are treated in Texas, the home of NM? I've been to the Austin location and didn't experience this treatment. The San Antonio SAs need some cultural diversity training ASAP. read more
