I got the mango delight smoothie and added pea protein for $1 - I really liked that you can add things for just $1! The smoothie itself was really good though if you've never had pea protein before, I would get whey protein instead since pea protein does have a distinct taste. This Nekter location and the one in Redondo Beach are now the closest to me after the Santa Monica shop shuttered last year. Prior to the pandemic, I used to frequent Nekter fairly habitually as there were numerous locations peppered throughout Orange County (founded 2010 in Costa Mesa, several opened during my residency in OC). They call themselves a juice bar, but also offer bowls, smoothies, wellness shots, skoops, grab n' go snacks as well as bottled beverages. I remember they first introduced Skoop, a non-dairy frozen dessert, back in 2017 and stopped by the Lake Forest location to get my first taste of the charcoal vanilla flavored cashew milk frozen treat. My usual go-tos are either the toxin flush juice, pitaya smoothie or one of the bowls. I love placing my orders through the Nekter app because not only can I customize each item, but I can schedule in advance for pick-up ASAP or later in the day. Today, I decided to go for something I haven't had before, the AB Mocha, and it definitely did not disappoint, especially if you're a coffee and almond butter lover. It was about a 30 minute drive to this Nekter, situated in the Rolling Hills Plaza right next to Mendocino Farms, and my smoothie was ready and waiting in one of the freezers. Nekter upgraded /updated their menu and i appreciate that. The have a new mini size and zero calorie sweetener option. Today I got the almond blueberry smoothie mini size with vegan protein powder, although I modified it and asked for only half of the protein powder and Adam, who made my drink, asked me if I wanted the zero calorie sweetener option option or the agave and I opted for sugar substitute instead of agave just because it's easier on my stomach. I usually omit the sugar options whenever there's any added sugar like agave or honey but I was able to actually get the sugar substitute this time so I really love that for me . I've been coming here for a few years and I do appreciate seeing familiar faces. The new faces are just as friendly and make the drinks really tasty as well .11 out of 10 for cleanliness, friendliness and quality worth the price. This poor man was working by himself , taking orders and making the food/ drinks and I saw at least 3 potential customers walk out because the process was taking so long. Each person waiting at least 10 minutes or more to get their order in. It wasn't the employees fault, but he is the only one working and visibly is doing the best he can. I really like the food here it's my go-to place whenever I'm craving something light and fresh! However, my visit today (July 21, 2025) was disappointing due to poor service. A tall, tattooed employee working behind the counter seemed irritated when I asked to add an ingredient to my açaí bowl. He stopped, sighed audibly, and made his annoyance very clear. We used to come to this location at least a few times a month but recently their consistency has dropped so much that we'd rather drive further to go to the Redondo Beach location if we really want something from Nekter. Smoothies have been very icy and not sure if it is the ingredients or just the ratio placed in is wrong, just not as good as before. The good: I've been craving fruit and juices a lot during my 2nd pregnancy so Nekter came to the rescue because they offered delivery and I was carless. I got the orange crush smoothie made with orange juice, strawberries and agave nectar. I liked the consistency and how there weren't large ice chunks. The color was bright orangey pink and was very enticing. The taste was tart, refreshing, and tangy. You could see the strawberry seeds inside so you knew it wasn't strawberry syrup used. The bad: Ten bucks for a size small smoothie is definitely on the higher end. The agave nectar isn't necessary because oranges and strawberries are already so naturally sweet. I rarely do reviews, but I feel compelled to do one. I ordered an acai bowl via grubhub, and when the order arrived, all of the adjustments I specified weren't there. I am on a special diet and can't have bananas, and so I thought this place would be perfect because it's so customizable. Not only were there bananas on top, there were some bananas blended into the bowl. I couldn't eat it. Waste of $18!! The staff was not worried we were even in the establishment. No greeting, no nothing. Large water spill, looked like something was leaking. Approached staff member (cashier KJ) inquiring about promotion we seen, she had no clue what it was or what we were talking about. Didn't even show interest in finding out. Ordered via the app because we wanted to promotional deal. Once ordering via the app it sent an email saying we were eligible for the free drink, but when we clicked the link via the email. It took us back to the app.. and no coupon/discount was available. Unclear, waste of time. Cashier KJ, was rude and unhelpful. Young lady making the smoothies was much nicer (Deanna) but she let us know she was new and didn't know much. Ask to speak with a manager, one wasn't on site; the cashier reached out to one via text and the manager advised we had to wait until after a 24hrs. No where on the flyer, app or email stated that. Annoyed. I order the Pitaya Passion Smoothies and added pineapple. Delicious, and it was pretty. My sister got berry something IT WAS TERRIBLE, terrible, I'm taking turn your face up scrunch your mouth bad. Definitely needed it remade or money back. I usually go to the Nekter by the circle in Long Beach and almost always have a bad experience with the bowls being too watery. Ordered the açaí mango bowl and the girl working today made the best bowl I've ever gotten from any location I've been too. Typically I have an acai spot in Long Beach I enjoy but was working in Torrance today. Rather then go to Jamba Juice I saw Nektar and figured I'd give them a try. The acai bowl is like liquid sushi not much consistency. When I walked into the store, the male employee with curly hair was wearing AirPods and did not acknowledge me at all, not even with a simple hello. Additionally, they gave me a drink that was only 75% full, had an attitude, and overall made my first visit a terrible experience. I would like the manager to check on their employees. My fiancé and I were so uncomfortable that we threw our drinks away, resulting in $21 wasted. I just want to say what an exceptional young man Brandon is. I came in to pick up an order I had placed I knew I was early I had no issues waiting. He immediately greeted me as I entered . He asked if I placed the order I said yes he said just a few minutes I said no problem then proceeded to ask how my day was going.
