They take credit cards but I always bring cash which I know they appreciate. Natalie is one of the owners and she is delightful. Located a few minutes off OR-35, definitely visit while out doing the Fruit Loop or wine and cider tasting. Plenty of parking in their lot.

Plus all your produce staples like onions, potatoes, various salad greens, broccoli, spinach, shallots, lemons, limes, green onions, sweet peppers, hot peppers and more. Many of their their products are jarred for sale. They have several types of jams from local farms. Get the red-sour cherry and the marionberry! Oh, and the fig jam, so good with prosciutto on pizza or a crostini. They have lots of Dickey's pickled veggies, too: beans, garlic, asparagus, carrots, giardena. And so many salsas with various fruit. Don't forget to pick up a jar of local. honey - they have all sizes and the prices can't be beat. Very nice selection of local wines, too! Some of their other customers told me to buy a frozen fruit pie, raving about how they taste homemade. I was tempted, but I wasn't heading straight home so I'll make a special trip for that when I'm entertaining or invited to dinner. They were out of fresh eggs, but I'm glad to know they carry them for when my egg dealer is out. Yes, that's what I call her! LOL. Once you start cooking with fresh eggs, there is no going back. Everything always looks so colorful and gorgeous! Lots of other goodies, too, like delicious baked goods, my kryptonite! I always limit myself to just two items and then round it out with a basket of fresh salad greens, ripe fruit, sugar snap peas and other veggies. Jams, pickled veggies, pepper jelly, local honey, responsibly raised chicken, pork, beef and seafood, oysters - it's all here! Mushrooms, beets, garlic, potatoes, onions, Swiss chard, rhubarb, kale, cabbage, basil, herbs - the list goes on and on. Cheese and olive oil, too. Love all crafts and non-food products, too. One of the vendors makes handmade soaps and lotions. The patterns on the soaps are so pretty and look lovely in my powder room. They smell wonderful and are not drying on my hands. The aprons are also wonderful and come in so many colors and patterns. I've bought several for myself as I'm always cooking and these protect my clothes. I've gifted several as well. Love the handmade birdhouses, so clever! There is jewelry, some carved wood bowls. So many gift items for yourself or a friend. What a delightful stop along the fruit loop in Hood River. Just down from Packers Orchards (see my…read morereview) and on the way to Odell is this gem is just off to the left if your heading toward Odell - can't miss the big red barn. We stopped in and immediately were greeted by a friendly teenager who offered us slices from their freshly picked peaches. Sublime. There were a lot of peaches and cherries to choose as well as soap, homemade crafts, used books (all sales are donated to the local animal shelter - bonus!), honey sticks, honey in the bear, clothes and lots of other treasures. One of the owners, Lisa, was there and we engaged in a lively conversation. It was a great time. And I gladly spent at Cody Orchards because I believe supporting local businesses is what makes Oregon great. Sure, you can go to Fred Meyer and buy a peach but you have no idea if it came from Mexico, California or Ecuador. Buy directly from a local orchard or farm and you KNOW it's locally grown. No brainer. Visit them this summer and enjoy knowing your dollars feed local economy while you feed your body healthy and sustainable fruit. You'll be glad you did.

Haha. cherrie and berrie picking and eating are one of summers delights! Montavons Berries is further up north in the Fruit Loop, #19, and in the same area as Grateful Vineyards and Mt. View Orchards. Plan a stop at all three and it's a worthy destination. Pick fruit at Montavons and Mt. view Orchards then have a pizza and hard cider, beer or wine on a picnic table at Grateful Vineyards. Mt. hood stands proud as the backdrop at all three places. The first crop to arrive are the cherries and they have several varieties. Bing are the most common and I love them so I always buy several pounds. Have to also get the golden and sweet Ranier cherries, too. And if they have the Sandra Rose, you must try! They have a darker glossier skin, red black in color, and are the sweetest of them all! As the season continues they have several types of blueberries and Willamette raspberries. Both delicious and easy to pick. The fields are layed out on flat land with plenty of space between rows. It is very sunny so wear a sun hat or cap and definitely put on that sunscreen. you will thank me. This is one of the smaller family run farms which is always my preference. Everyone is so nice and helpful. As soon as June comes around, I visit their website daily to see when the first of the cherries are ready to pick! And I pick and eat my fill! Til next year...

The prices were very fair, especially considering the high quality of everything. We tried a few different things, but the brisket breakfast sandwich was absolutely next-level--tender, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent. We're still thinking about it! Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly and kind--several vendors even offered water for our puppy, which was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel even more at home. If you're in Hood River on a market day, don't miss this! Great food, great people, and an awesome way to support local.

This is a third generation farm - their grandparents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s. It's almost 300 acres and they've got apples, pears, peaches, cherries, berries, and probably more. The farmstand is open July through November. They've got a pick your own/U-pick options. They specialize in growing over 150 different varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruit. Their website is pretty up-to-date on which fruit are available at any given time. I really enjoyed stopping into the marketplace for a wide selection of pre-picked fruits, some of which had samples available. They were priced by weight and I was very pleased with the cost in the end ($12 for so many apples!).

The woman answering the phone, Jean, doesn't even live in Oregon, couldn't answer half of my questions without making other calls, and then never called me back. Also, the info she gave contradicted the website's info. So, now I have no idea if she is wrong or the website is and there's no way to confirm without driving 2 hours all the way up there and seeing for myself because she's the only one answering the phone. Between this and hearing how drastically they have increased their prices recently, there is absolutely no reason to drive all the way out there. Lots of good orchards closer in that actually answer their phone FROM THEIR LOCATION and will tell you exactly what is available and when. Skip this place if you have self-respect and a life.
