So, I once lived in Hermiston, Oregon and personally knew Nelly, the hard-working owner of this establishment, from her well-known food and one of my then wife's Avon customers. She ran a taco truck before moving into her brick and mortar location. When I moved away, she had just purchased this location but hadn't opened. Fast forward a few years and I used the drive-thru and ordered some tacos and I remember them being just as good as they are now! Perfection! Each year Nelly would show her talents at the Umatilla Country Fair and I would buy multiple super burritos. Nelly always did a good job and her current location was just as good. read more

Absolutely WONDERFUL! I don't often get excited by Mexican food...it's probably my least favorite cuisine...but Nellys....she is on another plateau! I'm in town on business...calling on a local chain of Mexican markets...so naturally I get hungry for Mexican and oh my...Nellys did not disappoint! The flavors were more complex and varied than anything I have ever experienced outside of Mexico! Being from Portland, I found this to be far above anything you can find there! Came in on the yelpers good reviews. No one in there at all. Usually that is a bad sign. They were doing a steady to go business though. Not really set up well to do sit down. It was a clean place with both booth and tables. discombobulated service. Order at the front counter by looking at the counter where all the food pics are w/prices. Torn up a bit, not to legible. No salsa. You have to ask for it? All that aside, when my food arrived I forgot everything. 2 carne asada tacos were very good. The carne asada dinner was outstanding. This place really reminded me of being in Mexico, maybe down in Baja. The chef gal came out and asked if everything was good. Damn right it was. Tortillas tasted like real masa was used. If they could get their being a restaurant thing solved a bit, and keep that gal that was cooking (maybe Nelly?), they could be filling the place. Maybe not what they want? read more

I have had the soft and the hard shell tacos. Both are good. Nice staff, I've only used drive thru, never been inside. Wish they had delivery. Thinks its a private owned place, not much staff The hard shell taco seemed to be homemade, the shredded beef was more like a stew meat, but was pretty good. read more

Formerly a taco truck, Nelly's is now a small restaurant on the outside edge of town. Her food is wonderful, flavorful and authentic. The menu is small and the meat she has available changes daily, but everything I have had is delicious. Read the good review, and stopped on our way through town. The food was terrible. We were the only people there (6 of us), and it still took 20 minutes to get all our food. And it was really awful. Shocking how dry and flavorless it was. Even the chips tasted like old, gnarly, nearly rancid oil. So so good! I was really impressed. This place has the taco truck menu in an actual restaurant. The inside and building itself are definitely nothing special. A little dingy and dirty looking, but mostly just old and run down a bit. The menu is another story. I recommend the handmade corn tortilla quesadilla with carne. OMG it was amazing with their green salsa! The burritos are gigantic and equally as delicious. Very reasonable prices for the sheer amount of food.
