I was just here this past weekend for a music festival, and this was the perfect venue for it…read more The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of space for camping. Lots of waterfront camping space, but if you actually want to be able to sleep in on those hot summer mornings there's also lots of space in the wooded areas to camp. Everything was really clean upon arrival (as clean as it can be for being a camping area) and was kept as such throughout the weekend. Not an easy task when you have 500+ people traipsing around. There's two sets of restrooms (with running water) and the ones at the front also have 2 showers in each bathroom (mens and womens). The showers were much great, hot and good water pressure. There's also a concession area right as you arrive at the campground which carries smaller items (sunglasses, waters, etc) and are super reasonably priced. The only downfall is that you can't swim in the lake (at least not when I was there), but it's a bit murky so I'm not sure if one would want to. They do rent out paddleboats and canoes though for $50 a day with a $50 refundable deposit. There's also some pretty good fishing in the lake. One of my favorite things about this place was the fact that the owner, John, was always on hand. Interacting with patrons, making sure things were running smoothly. He really did a great job of making us feel welcomed. I'll definitely be returning next year :D

We enjoyed our stay here at the campground. They have only a few weekend spots, mostly seasonal but…read morebeautiful area, nicely shaded by tall trees. Bathrooms were well kept with several different buildings through out the campground, timed showers with very warm water. Two playgrounds , the one by the main office is AMAZING, our kids spent hours playing and having fun. Stocked store, Rec hall, with rentable yard games, weekend activities. Pool. The only complaint I have would be the location of the electrical hook ups for the weekend campsites, compared to the fire pit, I felt as if we needed to move our camper further away and fun the extension cord because I was afraid of the fire being to close. Also the campsite we had was not very level, so we had to use several stabilizers to get one side high enough to level out. I didn't take many pictures because we were busy outside playing, but we really did enjoy our stay. ****Also make sure to be aware of their visitor policy and prices*****

Upon arriving at the campground (we have a 40' diesel pusher) my wife went to check in. Before she…read morecould even get there an extremely upset woman came out screaming at us not to block the gate, our guests were behind us so we backed far enough to clear the gate and signaled the remaining two cars to go around us, one did. The other car finally got the hint and went around but made it clear they were not happy. Needless to say our arrival was anything but pleasant. We had to dump and drove to the station, the trees were so close together at the 90* degree turn we scraped the side of our Rv. When leaving we dumped again but had to drive into brush to avoid our previous peril. The park was obviously designed for pull behind cracker boxes. Our visit was pleasant with a large space, large fire pit and view of the pond across the road. The entire park is 30 amp and we had to use a pigtail for power. Our guests had to pay $12 each just to enter the park, a rip off in my opinion. Our two day stay was to be $180, but the add on fees brought the total to around 250.00. We have been full timers for over 7 years and have never been charged such add ons in any other park. Final thoughts, after everything I can say we probably will never return to this park. It was pleasant but adding the damage to my rig, our arrival pleasantry and being nickel and dimed to death I should rate this park and visit a "one". When my wife went to check out Monique was very apologetic but she was limited to that.

I thought this was a lovely campground…read more The grounds and restrooms/showers were immaculate. Everything was incredibly well maintained. The sites offer decent privacy. They're not on top of each other, although you can see your neighbors. The staff was wonderful--incredibly friendly. They sell wood if you need wood (for a fair price, too), and they have books to borrow in the check-in cabin if you want a book to read (and movies if you have an RV, or a device that plays movies). There are some decent features to the grounds, also. They have a playground on the campsite, as well as basketball hoops. Right outside the campsite is Thompson lake, where you can fish, boat, and kayak. They have a pretty big disc golf course, which we enjoyed, and some hiking trails. I would definitely come back to this campsite. I'm a big fan of Recreation.gov, and this was one of the better ones I've been to.

We stayed here when the tornado occurred on 8/18/21 and we were fine. The tent kept us nice and dry and it was beautiful and sunny after the storm. If you like hiking, there are some descent trails around the lake and the airline trail is also nearby. Putnam is also a cute little town that is worth a visit. Walmart and grocery stores are about 10 minutes away too. This years hosts and the hosts in 2019 were both incredibly friendly and helpful. They did a great job at keeping the place well maintained.
