This campground is phenomenal. We're a military family, and any time we're stationed in Groton, we try to spend as many summer weekends as we can at Hidden Acres. They have tons of games and activities for children planned throughout the day, a hayride, a fantastic playground for the littles, a swimming pool, a fishing pond, the river, arcade games, a pool table, horseshoes (and other outdoor games), a craft shop that's open in the evenings where kids can get small ceramic trinkets and paint them, and beautiful grounds that are clean and safe. Their restaurant, Peggy's Place, is one of the best campground restaurants I've ever seen. We'll get there on a Friday afternoon, and I barely see my kid till we leave on Sunday. when he comes in each night he's usually dirty and tired, and very happy, which I love. If you're looking for a safe and VERY family oriented campground, then I highly recommend this place. If you're looking for a place to get drunk with all your friends and be obnoxious, then you need to go elsewhere, cause this is NOT the place to do it. We just love this place, and we're so thankful we found it.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this little campground tucked into the woods and on the river. We are new to camping and wanted to test out all of our gear and this was the perfect place to do it. We had a lovely tent site on the river with both water and electricity and there was a bathroom right across from our site. This is a real family friendly place but the patrons are not wild or crazy (at least not when we were there) and it's very peaceful. It gets super dark at night so make sure you bring adequate lighting. There's a cute little food shack but it only seems to be open on weekends so take that into account when you pack. There's also a general store with the gift shop should you forget something. It's also not far to civilization even tucked away into the woods and you can hop over to a Walmart or Dunkin should you need to. There is an animal pen with adorable goats my boyfriend loved and numerous peacocks that roam the property. I almost didn't book this place since it's a bit in the past and you have to do it over the phone but I'm so glad I did. Everyone who works there was very friendly as were the longer term campers. By the looks of it people have been returning there for many years and I definitely can see why!

I don't personally have a camper here but a friend of mine does. She's been camping here since the 80's. Generations of kids have come here for the summer and it's a safe place and keeps them unplugged. The general store and ice cream shop are a good deal. $1.50 for most ice cream truck type bars. The cones they serve from the ice-cream counter are very generous and the flavors are delicious. They have an area where they keep goats and beautifully colored chickens. And the peacocks roam free here. People seem to be respectful of everyone's property and everyone looks out for each other's kids. The kids play in the playground or by the river. We've found turtles, birds nests and little lizards. Definitely a place I would consider when it's my time to purchase my camper!

LOVE. THIS. CAMPGROUND. Ive been going annually for four years now in September for their Haunted Happenings Weekend. It is a blast. there trick or treating, sports activities for older kids, ceramic painting, costume contest, haunted hay ride and then a dance party at the end of the night! In May they have a Military Appreciation weekend that falls on Armed forces weekend. All sites were half off and it is so beautiful and much warmer haha. i will always recommend them here. They have a little food stand with good food at great prices and ice cream! theres a playground, fishing in a stocked pond, arcade, showers, laundry and bathrooms. the bathrooms, showers and laundry areas are clean and always well kept.

Golf cart turned into a pirate ship! Drives around at night all lit up!

Super-clean and family friendly! Pool was crystal clear. Lots of activities for the kids. Seasonal folks have great pride and keep their sites clean and pretty. Friendly atmosphere--especially the staff. Can't wait to go back!

We swam in the pool which was gorgeous and it was just us most of the time. At one point there was a gentleman and his young son. The pool has a ramp so that it is handicap accessible which really impressed me. There is also beautiful hot tub which has a wheelchair lift. Both very impressive and I have not seen this at other campgrounds. We arrived on Sunday evening and left on Wednesday. When we got there there was a tree in the middle of our designated site that did not allow us to open our slides so we had to get a new site assignment. They easily did that and we were backed up to a brook. It was lovely and the view of the pond was very nice. Unfortunately we also had a view of the back of the main house/office and the area where they worked on equipment. I thought that could've been fenced off. The site itself was raw with dirt and roots so it was rather hazardous and we did not put down our outside rug. I was afraid that we might trip. Also there was trash around the fire ring from the previous tenants and trash around the trees near the brook. Generally I think that was my biggest complaint with this place. The people were very nice and the grounds were nice. The playground was amazing and the variety of playground equipment they had was incredible. The pool and the hot tub or beautiful and I just wish that the sites were cleaned up more and maybe throw down some crushed rock. Definitely on my list of places to return to.

A lot of the campground has been updated although the restrooms could use some work. The pool and hot tub were clean and a nice respite from the hot weather. One caution is that the sites are very tight. We were fortunate in that the site across from us was pretty open when we backed in. With all of that said they are planning on adding additional sites which will hopefully be a bit more spacious. All in all a very nice campground.

It's a great location on the corner. Perfect site to people watch. Close to main area if you walk through the amphitheater path. This take you straight to the pool area without needing a golf cart. Plus a grassy field for pets is just a few feet across the road. Only downside was so much dry dusty dirt. We hosed down the site & road when we could. That helped with the dust a little. When we arrived our site had an issue with the 50amp. The maintenance staff was friendly & worked quickly to resolve it. Later they helped us find someone to fix an issue with one of the vehicles in our group. Their maintenance crew gets 5 stars all around. There were tons of activities. The schedule was packed. Various crafts,, pool workouts, corn hole tournaments, tug-of-war, flag football, a magician, a DJ, & a cover band. The most popular activity seemed to be bingo. Prizes varied from $10 to $180. Bingo was everyday and packed. There are 4 pools. One was adults only, three were families. There was also a toddler pool, a splash pad, and a few hot tubs. The rules are strict though. No diving. No jumping. No pool accessories. No horseplay. No water games. And no food or alcohol in the pool area. "Patrolling" was one of their downfalls. They had a few overzealous staffers with red shirts marked "Ranger". They "patrolled" on foot, by golf cart, on bikes, & in vehicles. I thought their "bike unit" was pretty aggressive. Often stopping non-helmeted bikers or counting campers at campsites. But when the "rangers" switched to vehicles, they drove way above the 8 mph speed limit to "catch" rogue campers on golf carts to tell them to drive slower. Overall the campground was great. Tips: Bring bike helmets for riders. (This was strictly enforced.) Don't forget anything. Store is small & stock was limited. As in if you run out of camper toilet paper, you need to take a 15 min drive to Walmart to get some. They don't carry it. Bring quarters & detergent for laundry. They didn't have a working change machine or laundry vending machines. Bring string lights if possible. It's pretty dark. Dog park is small like super small. Avoid sites in "The Meadows" area. The owner sites are nice but the rentals look they belong in 8-mile. No lie you might need a tetanus shot after a stay in one of them

For this it excels. On weekends it is whole different world . It is occupied by a larger crowd of Inconsiderate people. The general ignoring of the quiet hour rules , not cleaning up after themselves in facilities , playing music at volumes that be heard several sites away, and a new one: The constant running of generators from8:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Really unless someone in your party is on a medical device that needs constant power , I can't understand why you need to run your generator all day. An ice chest can keep your food cold at fraction of the cost of the gas required to run a generator all day. While there are no rules against this , common sense and consideration for others should be all the rule needed. The worst part is the generator people put the generator on the other side of the RV from where they sit so the RV blocks some of the noise . On the other hand it is right next to my site I get the noise from it further amplified by what bounces of your RV. None of these are by any means only issues at Hopeville but I notice a lot more of it here The staff this year were all pleasant , friendly and helpful. The facilities during the week were spotless and they did a good job of trying to maintaining decently clean facilities on weekends . Next year I retire so I will never have to come on weekend again and will be to enjoy Hopeville. Hopefully the inconsiderate will keep their attendance to weekends . The first night was a struggle considering the ground was almost all gravel and because of this, staking my tent was a tedious task. We used the cleaning products we had on hand to take care of ourselves but my worry is that the bathrooms were not kept to the highest standard. The flies were overwhelming. The bath houses were private and free but the shower did take a second to warm up. Hopeville Pond State Park offered a welcoming atmosphere and if I ever decide to stay here again, I hope that the experience improves.

If you have just a tent, you shouldn't be placed there. I didn't notice that they squeezed quite a lot of people in other questionable spots, and I'm talking like 2 feet from the service road. So all night cars coming in and out of the back of the campground are driving right past people's tents, and again I mean like within 5 feet of a tent.
