If you'd like to get away for the weekend and breathe in some fresh air (but don't want to sleep on the ground), these cabins are a good idea. The location is pretty remote and it's very peaceful. The cabin itself comes with a sink, cooktop, tea kettle, radio, random books, cookware, cutlery and plates, refrigerator, a table and chairs, a bed, shower, and toilet. They also have some coffee, tea, and a s'mores kit inside the cabin but, beware, they charge an extra fee to use these items ($7 for two s'mores, for example). There's also a table outside with a firepit and two chairs. There are log bundles near the firepit, but these are $9 each. The cabins themselves are really nice, but I think they are overpriced considering they don't include any of the aforementioned items and it's not clear when you make the reservations that these items aren't included. All in all, the cabins are well maintained and nice, but, if we were to go again, we'd definitely make a grocery store run prior to arrival. The roads to get to the cabins can get dicey (dirt roads and steep inclines), so be careful when driving in. Also, pay attention to their website because they seem to have frequent sales, which can bring down the price of the stay. read more

Very disappointing experience. This was a family reunion, and we called that morning to specifically request that our family be placed close together since relatives were coming in from different places. That request was ignored. What made the situation worse was that instead of making a real effort to fix it, we were essentially asked whether we wanted to book another room if we were unhappy with the one we were given. That response was frustrating, dismissive, and completely missed the point of why we were there. We traveled all the way from California to spend time with family, and this poor handling negatively affected the entire experience, especially for our kids. For an event centered around being close to family, this was a simple and reasonable request that should have been handled much better. You will not get an acceptable response you will not get accountability but you will get no sleep and you will get ill you will not enjoy your entire trip because you have no sleep with which to do so and they will not take you seriously. I left my wool coat at this hotel. They confirmed they found it and would ship it back. Then they sent me someone else's item instead. They admitted they accidentally sent my coat to another guest, and would contact that guest to fix it. That was three weeks ago. Now, after three weeks of delays, they changed their story completely. They now claim they never found my coat in the first place. This hotel lost my property, refused to take responsibility, and lied to cover it up. No compensation. No apology. Just lies. Absolutely unacceptable. Shame on this Marriott property. read more

If you want the outdoors with some private amenities like a restroom, shower, and a real bed, then this place might suit you. It's about a two-hour drive from where I live, making it a decent getaway. You're not super close to many local amenities, but you're not too far away either. Checking in was a bit odd but smooth. You don't get your cabin assignment until the day of your arrival, about an hour before check-in, which is at 3 PM. Your space and cabins: Each of the sites seems to be a decent distance from one another. Sometimes when you're camping or glamping, the sites are right next to each other, but not here. We were at least 30 yards away from the neighboring site. They even have firewood and starters available outside. The cabin was cozy. There's not a lot of room inside, but you're meant to be outdoors, so that's not a drawback. If you didn't come prepared, no worries; they provide some items in each cabin that you can use and be charged for later, such as a s'mores kit and water. There are plenty of cups, plates, knives, cooking utensils, tin foil, paper towels, and other essentials though. Overall, it's a nice place, and I would definitely come back in the future. read more

Had the most amazing weekend getaway with my boyfriend and his dog! Our puppy loved the cookie they provided. The cabins are clean and have everything you need to unwind. The bed is nestled next to a massive window so you wake up to the most beautiful scenery. There's a mini kitchen (stocked with pans, foil, cooking utensils), a cell phone lockbox, and even a smores kit. They have logs & fire starters if you want to make some campfire meals. This location also has decent cell service in case you need it, no wifi though. They text you directions on how to check in & out once you arrive, so everything is easy. I have to say, it was a major disappointment from start to finish. First off, the whole "in the woods" vibe is a total illusion. What they call a forest is really just a few trees awkwardly wedged between suburban houses. You're never more than a stone's throw from someone's backyard--and definitely nowhere near the peaceful escape they advertise. The cabins themselves are wildly overpriced for what you get. Seriously--save your money or spend it somewhere that delivers what it promises. To top it off, I asked for a simple 30-minute late checkout. Just 30 minutes. It was denied without hesitation because they claimed they were "very busy"--this on a quiet Sunday morning in mid-November. It felt like they couldn't be bothered to even pretend to care. Save yourself the frustration. There are far better places to stay in the area. This "cabins in the woods" experience is nothing more than suburban window dressing at luxury prices. read more

Had a great time spending one night here. We stayed in Jean-Louis. They text you on the day-of a couple of hours prior what your cabin is and what your code is. I had 3 bars of service all throughout so no problems with using my phone. BATHROOM: Super clean, 2 outlets, extra toilet paper, and a cute little first aid kit with tampons, Tylenol, and bandaids (see pic!). Note that you can't use the sink and the shower at the same time. Be wary of the 5 minutes of hot water. CABIN: there are books on the shelves, playing cards, and a boombox/radio for you to connect your device or enjoy the radio. There's a tiny mirror behind one of the cabinets. Pots, pans, many mugs, utensils (no chopsticks), olive oil, creamer, salt, pepper, sugar, knives, scissor, lighters. Central air/heat that you can regulate. Outside the cabin, you have your own little campfire area with a campfire kit $8 to start your own fire. We roasted the complimentary s'mores and had a yummy dessert! $2 more for the fire starter kit. Bed is super cozy, with black out shades all over the cabin, great for sleeping in. Last time we went there were GIANT carpenter ants, I mean biggest Ive ever seen, that swarmed our cabin at night and were litterally falling on my head from above us while we "slept". I mean there were at least a hundred. It was like something out of a nightmare and my kids were freaking out but it was super late so we couldn't really go anywhere. We texted for help and they brough bug spray which did nothing. Told customer service about it the next day and they just gave us a small discount off our next stay. Fastforward to this stay... They had a fire ban in effect (totally get that this is not their fault) BUT they didn't inform us about it until after the cancellation/rescheduling window was closed. We have little kids that go to bed at 7 and had planned to sit by the fire after they were asleep. Instead we had to sit in the dark being quiet so they could sleep from 7 on and had no internet so couldn't even watch a show with headphones. We tried to reschedule and they wouldn't allow so we we said, ok, we understand. Can we drive an hour and a half further and we would be happy to go to a different postcard cabin location where there isn't a fire ban on the same day. Nope. Refused to do it. Our options were to sit in the dark all night for my husbands birthday trip or loose all our money. Terrible customer service. It's sad because we love the idea of the cabins but not worth dealing with their awful customer care. I'm over it and we wont be back. read more

Enjoyed our stay but cleaning needs improvement. The fridge had what appeared to be frosting left in it and we needed to clean it ourselves to. E sure it was clean. The faucet was leaking at the joint, came back to a lot of water on the counter, had to put a towel around it. The s'mores (only 2) were stale. The destination fee of 80$ was extreme for what was provided for snacks. Enjoyed the firepit but nothing provided to start a fire but 3 bundles of wood . Good thing we brought our own newspapers and a lighter. Will try again in the future, perhaps in another location tho but only will pay the off season rates during the week when less expensive because this particular experience wasn't worth paying the full price. read more

Be aware! They made false and misleading advertisement online. The state has a fire ban effective for days and they made ZERO effort to notify you or warn you BEFORE you make any bookings. Once you booked and then you will become "ineligible for cancellation" even if I reached out immediately to the customer service and they still chose to do nothing to make up for the bad experience. Booked 3 months in advance for our first Valentine's weekend as a married couple and get an email 2 nights before we leave that our cabin has been canceled due to maintenance issues and that we would be given a voucher. I understand that issues arise but this was extremely frustrating. And then to not even refund but to give us just a voucher? So we reached out and asked for our money back and asked if we could also get a voucher or something for our inconvenience. We didn't even get a discount for future use or anything. They just said sorry nothing we can do but we'll refund. Nobody cared that our plans were canceled so last minute. At least we got our money back but this was extremely disappointing read more

We drove from NYC to Moodus, CT to this Getaway. The drive was about 2.5hrs. Stayed for 3 nights. Once you at the address it's easy to follow the signs to find your cabin. They email you the day of to tell you the name of your cabin and the entrance code. The cabin looks just like the photos. It is small but the designers were very creative with how they used the space. It was thoughtful. The cabin has all the things you need, bed, table, shower (5 minutes of hot water, takes 30 minutes to replenish), toilet, 2 burner electric stove, sink, mini fridge, AC/ Heat unit, pots, plates, cups and utensils. There was a complementary s'mores kit for our use. Enough to make 2 s'mores. The fire pit outside was great to use at night. They sell the bundles of firewood for $8 a bundle. There is also a general store at the site where you buy small items. There is a 7-11 less than 5 mini drive away that you pick up other items if needed. The site is quite and serene. You can see other people and cars through the trees but there is a good distance between the cabins. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well. It was a good experience and would definitely do it again. Cell reception is decent. Great way to connect with nature. read more
