The gentleman serving us brought over complimentary Mango Lassi after we ordered our food, which was a great treat! The food was delicious, came out quick with impressive portion sizes. Rude customer service. Need to set up job related 20-person party at this place and the guy was absolutely and disgustingly rude. For example, since there are two Nepal house restaurants in the area, I merely asked if these two are affiliated so I can set up dinner on either of the two places but the response I got is, "why do you need this kind of information?" Not to mention he hung up on me twice when I spoke Nepali to show my respect to the culture. When asked on the third call, he retorts, "Speak English!". Wow! I had the vegetarian chow mein and it was so delicious! Spicy, but not the kind that burns, the kind that clears out your sinuses . Nepal house came across as a smaller, more homey version of Curry house and India house, and I think that added to the appeal. Everything I tried in the lunch buffet was very good and I especially liked the okra, Butter Chicken, kheer (not amazing but I was glad they had it), and spinach with paneer. The price was also very reasonable at ~$15 per person before tax and tip. Although there were fewer options than other, similar restaurants I thought that the food was of good, consistent quality and there were enough options to satisfy. Their $15 lunch buffet is quite small compared to most places I've been to, but granted this is a downtown location, so I can't say much for the value. Service is miff, but we did get our orders of warm naan as soon as we could flag down a waiter. The food seemed to have a lot of sodium as after the meal, felt very thirsty. The mango pudding dessert was good and happy to see a bhel puri snack section. We ordered two veggie entrees - Baigan Bharta (roasted eggplant with spices) and Bhindi Masala (okra stewed in spices). Their Garlic Naan was soft and tasty. We also ordered the Kashmiri Naan (pineapple, cherries, walnuts) which was lightly sweet and just perfect. Both Mango Lassi's were fantastic! Please note they are closed on Mondays but their sister restaurant Chicago Curry House (several blocks away) is open on Mondays. Service was good. One of the most consistent Indian cuisine in the city! I eat here and The Chicago Curry house often. They are very clean, always nice, and most importantly, the food is always consistent. The butter chicken is a hard dish to make, but they have mastered it in my humble opinion. Also, few places get the mango Lassie right because they used less mango and more water with yogurt. But here, they use more mango which makes it taste fresher and the yogurt makes it taste creamier. The owner and staff are great hosts and know how to provide an excellent customer experience. This was my first time getting Indian food and it definitely did not disappoint. Everything was hot and fresh and the taste was more than I imagined. I enjoyed and recommend the lamb tikka masala, butter chicken, chicken samosas, and mango lassi. Plus the garlic naan was one of the biggest stars of the meal. The customer service is really good and they were able to adjust the spice to the meal since I'm not to big of a fan of spice. Delicious Indian food in the South loop- I haven't had Indian food in a while, and I usually had dined at lunch buffets only. However, this time around, we came for dinner and ordered off a menu. Luckily, I remembered some of the popular dishes that I enjoyed. The service was quick and only seemed to take a while because we were so hungry and excited to eat. We ordered the garlic naan- naan is a must along with the flavorful saucey dishes in the Indian cuisine. This was deliciously soft and perfect pull apart texture. We also ordered the tandoori chicken half portion and lamb tikki masala. This was the perfect amount of food to leave us very happily full. I couldn't even tell that the lamb was not chicken, but the sauce was flavorful and yummy. The tandoori chicken had nice spices and was also delicious when dipped in the sauces too. Overall, we had a great food experience here and were contently stuffed after this meal. Great prices for good portions of food. read more

We were cruising in lake michigan on Sunday night and found this place on yelp. We took the uber from the loop as it was closing in 45 minutes so thought instead of walking - took uber. We reached around 8:55PM and the person at the front desk was not at all welcoming. I would just suggest that if the time was running over - then please suggest your future guests 'we can't take you as we are closing in 30 minutes' instead 'we will be closing in 30 min' with a rude expression. Anyways, can't complain about the chicken momos- they were great and dip was amazing. We ordered garlic naan, paneer bhurji and dal for the entree. The bread was great but the vegetable and dal was bland (added salt in my dish). I wanted to give just 2 stars as the service was not at all pleasing but will give 3 as I loved the chicken momos. read more

This was our first trip to Nepal House and we wanted to order their Lamb Sekuwa since its chef recommended (in red font and all on the menu), but sadly they didn't have it since its a 'new menu'. I didn't understand the correlation of a new menu and non availability of their chef recommended dish. That said, we were pleasantly surprised by the food that was available. Although, not authentic Nepalese, our Chicken biryani, the Lamb Khasi and keema nan were all well prepared. The food alone would warrant a visit again! However, between their service and certain charges such as a $7 corkage and $2 for a few slices of raw Onions (a staple with Indian food), we might only do takeout or delivery. They don't close until 10 but by 9:15 during our meal, the server came twice to remove the pickle and chutney container, since it had to be washed before closing. Did I mention, we were still only half way through our meal? For a restaurant that's almost always empty, they can make some very minor tweaks that would earn them repeat customers including myself....oh, well one can hope! read more

I just had dinner at the Nepal House. I had come here as an always enjoyed the Curry House in Highwood and on Plymouth and knew they had good food. Alas, this evening was a problem, but it's not really the food. First off, the staff is lovely. Absolutely lovey. The samosa was delicious and the naan was as good as any I've had. The main was fine but not the best. HOWEVER, the place does a major delivery business and the Grub Hub, Uber Eats, Door Dash or whatever drivers were coming in and talking or watching videos on speaker phone. It really made the dining environment dreadful. The management needs to address this and tell these drivers to either wait outside or take their phones of speaker. Constantly having to listen to calls or videos (one explicit and profane, using the n word) while I dine just doesn't work. I can't recommend if you want a pleasant environment. Turn off the speaker phones and this gets two more stars. read more

Probably the best Indian/Nepali type buffet I have had in a long while.....everything tasted authentic and fresh. Love their Lentils, basmati rice, tandoori chicken, samosas and lamb. The mix of seasonings and flavors are done very well. One of the ladies seemed overwhelmed with patrons, she was supposed to give us a YELP discount and she did not, I had to ask for someone else to honor the 10% off coupon.
