I repeat DO NOT come here. They try to flip the script and tell you " no this was your loved ones request was" when you ask them for the proof and a signature from our loved one, they can not provide you any of the proper documentation. They play on your grieving heartstrings. They made my family members suffer already grieving and didn't make it easy for the burial transition for my grandmother that had passed away. This place is all about how much money they can make off of you even after your loved one has made their funeral/ burial plans 50 plus years ago. Years ago when my grandparents made their funeral/ burial plans De Young's was privately owned and they really went all out for you. You know that old fashioned caring and compassionate customer service we've become accustomed to, especially when we are so brokenhearted and not thinking clearly because our loved one has just passed. My grandmother would never have wanted her family to go through what our family went through with this horrible business. I strongly suggest going to a privately owned funeral home and not this place. 0 stars for this place!

Colonial Rose lied about pricing multiple times. They tried to add additional costs, $1,150 plus…read moreanother $300, multiple times even after we had agreed on price and total and signed the contract. They tried to short me two entire hours of my loved one's funeral service and ended up shorting me only one hour after I complained. At the planning meeting I informed them that I wanted to pay on assignment they agreed since that's one of the approved forms of payment they take. This was two weeks before the funeral. Then they proceeded to lie and say that my loved one's life insurance company didn't allow that type of payment and that I had no claim opened, but in reality they were the ones to call the insurance company and specifically say they were refusing the payment on assignment and wanted to be paid up front. And not wait the obligatory 20 days. When I informed them that I didn't have a way to pay them in cash which is why I chose the payment on assignment option they said "well if there's no payment there's no funeral or cremation" only a couple days before the funeral. They made it seem like they were holding my loved one's body hostage and only cared about their money. So not only was I dealing with the devastation of losing my loved one now I had to scramble to find cash to cover the costs since they will charge 3% for using a credit card. They lied multiple times to my face and they were very inconsiderate and lacked training. The only employee that I have nothing bad to say about was their receptionist Dylani. She was always very helpful and thoughtful. And then as a cherry on top Lenny the funeral director signed the guest book before any of the family or guests did. I was very irked by that because he wasn't family or a friend and signed it as a business card.

From the moment we met Amber, we felt comfortable. My dad lost the love of his life after 66 years of marriage and is heartbroken. Amber made the whole process of making decisions easy for him! The whole process was simple and she made it carefree for us. We also worked with Elaina and Dylani. Everyone worked so well with us especially when we had to make edits to the death certificate and the obituary amongst on the spot decisions on the day of service that my brother and I had to make. They all were so patient and understanding of us as we were in pain and grieving. Also, the embalmer made my mom look beautiful and they added a veil to her casket for the viewing which added a special touch. While we set our own funeral program, Amber and the rest of the staff was there by our side to make sure everything was accomplished. They helped pin the boutonnières on the pallbearers and helped with the timeline of procession to the burial after ceremony after the reception. I couldn't have asked for a better execution of the timelines as we had to drive almost an hour to the cemetery. We were able to have Athena the service dog visit and the FB live worked well for our relatives overseas! Also, I recommend renting the reception room. They provided coffee, tea, and water. We added breakfast in the morning and charcuterie foods for after the service. Super convenient for those that were not going to the burial. Also, some people and kids were not comfortable with the viewing so it was a safe place to hang out. Plus, perfect for a family reunion with people you haven't seen in years! Such a smart idea to have this room. The price of funeral was reasonable. I love this staff. The home itself is beautiful and I love the chandeliers. It was a perfect environment to feel the love everyone has for my mom and our family. Also, service to the burial was great. Amber had my dad ride with her in the hearse. That was super nice for my dad. She was really great with him and helped to lift his burdens. At the burial, everything was executed well and done professionally. Thank you!

Now that my brother and I are a lot older we would like to change the name on mom's headstone. We asked the staff but sadly it's still "owned" by the step father. This review is regarding my family's dissatisfaction with the workmanship on a headstone engraved…read morein October 2023 by Graystone Monuments, Stockton, CA. Our dissatisfaction stems from the lack of quality of the engraving for my mother who died February 16, 2023 and is now buried in San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in the same plot as her husband. Her husband died in 1995 and his information was already on the headstone. ln March 2023 I engaged Graystone Monuments to engrave my mother's information alongside his. I provided a mock-up of the wording and expected the new engraving to match the existing engraving. It does not. The new engraving font is slightly smaller, not as deep, and not as wide. After they did the work, the new information did not match the old and was hardly visible. I provided them photos showing the problem. There were several conversations with them on this subject, with their last email to me on 3/16/2024 saying "There is nothing else we can do for you." It appears to me that their on-site engraving capability was either insufficient or their craftsman was not qualified. Their only suggestion was to let the marker age and no one would be able to notice the difference.

I came here yesterday morning to attend my grandmother's funeral. This memorial chapel has a nice…read morewelcoming atmosphere to it. The staff are very nice and able to really anticipate the needs of family and friends who come here to honor their loved ones who have passed on to that other world. They really do treat their guests here with deep sincerity. I like that there is a water cooler in the front lobby to which everyone is able to refresh themselves. Also there are 2 clean restrooms and 1 or 2 family rooms available. There is also only 1 memorial room so that there would only be one function at one time (which works perfectly for those who come here and are not lost in trying to find the right room). The large memorial room itself is a nice large size and can hold about 150 people. There is a projector screen (also a monitor out in the front lobby) available to use (for an additional pay but of course) and a podium with microphone. There are also speakers that can be heard throughout the room. This memorial chapel is pretty easy to get to, as it is right off the 5 freeway. But is a bit hidden, so you may have some guests that may have some problems finding it. Oh just thought I would mention that there are a few handicap parking spots right at the front of the entrance, to help shorten the walk for those who need it (as there were a few guests that came to the funeral that needed them). Just as my grandmother's funeral had gone smoothly and peacefully here, so did my grandfather's funeral last year as well. With 2 grandparents now laid to rest, DeYoung Memorial Chapel was the perfect place to honor them and hold a special service for them.

Moses was fabulous in helping me figure out all what was needed to make a lovely Catholic funeral Mass happen for him. He did it all and coordinated bringing my dad from another funeral home in another state (he lived there but wanted to be buried in the cemetery his parents are at in Stockton) so was just a little more complicated. Plus I had my brother's cremated remains I wanted to be buried with dad. Moses made it all come together without a hitch The music and singers he booked were fabulous and their location is beautiful for any services you would want to do there. Ours was a little more detailed because we had the Rosary the night before, Mass at the church the next day then followed to the cemetery for the graveside part. He and all the other staff were very professional and right on every little detail. I cannot thank everyone at Casa Bonita enough for such a wonderful job they did. This is not an easy business and I see some not good reviews on here but I have to say those people have to be something wrong personally because of course a business has to be paid. Yes, everyone pays otherwise you don't stay in business very long. Moses helped me save alot of money by finding solutions for a couple of very high cost items, so I personally know he's not out to get every dollar you have. In fact I need to contact him soon to start pre-need planning for mom because she will be buried with dad and I'm not going to go anywhere else. My Nonnie's funeral was also held here in 2015 and although I had no part in planning hers, I did attend and hers was just as lovely. I'm sure that is why my dad got brochures and information back then. You can be sure everything will go smoothly when Moses is taking care of things. Thank you for everything you do.

Even after getting confirmation for pick-up from Tulip, BACS had no record of our pick-up appointment. I had an email confirming time and location and a follow-up email that said the crematory requested to push back an hour for pick up, yet they had no record of our pick up appointment. They blamed Tulip and was dismissive about the lack of communication and said it wasn't their fault. They should work with their partners to have a better process as this type of service is a sensitive time for families. The anger and dismissive attitude without acknowledging the experience of someone picking up a loved one is disturbing. Although I was able to get the remains of my loved one, it has been a very disturbing experience from both Tulip and Bay Area Crematory Society/A Bay Area Crematory. The experience really highlights the industries push to make money off of the deceased without care or concern.

Death is never easy on anyone and there is a lot of emotions good and bad tied to death of a loved one. Recently loss my grandmother and I knew they were the first people I would call to start the process of following her wishes to be cremated. Danielle, Hailey, Becca and Trey all made the experience just as comforting as it was with my grandfather. They explained thoroughly the process in detail as well as reinsured and updated when my grandmother arrived to their facility safely. They brought calm and peace to what is probably the toughest time for me personally given my grandmother was like a mother to me. This team and business respects people from all walks of life along with their customers beliefs in culture or spirit working collectively with your family to carry out any wishes your loved one had. Obviously there are some protocols that they have to oblige to during the pandemic but never less did it take away from great service they provide. Im truly thankful for them, their professionalism, guidance, respect and honor goes above and beyond any expectations you would have.
