The Neptune Society did an excellent job of information and being very empathetic to my situation I was married to my wife Nora Elaine Oxford for 61 years she was my everything. She contracted sepsis which I did not know how deadly the disease was. Nora was a beautiful woman and spouse and partner I miss here every day. It took a while for the sepsis to claim Nora and when she passed the Neptune Society moved in to make the arrangements as simple and as smooth as possible especially the Funeral Director Annie Forrester, she was excellent and certainly made my journey a great deal easier. Neptune Society buys mailing list and doesn't check to see if the person they are sending to is alive or DEAD! My step mom has been Dead and cremated since October 2016 and has never even lived at my address. It's wrong of them to not do their homework and see if someone is already dead or not. My husband and I purchased cremation plans from Neptune about 14 years ago. The process was simple and understandable. The pricing was clear, just say no to any add-ons that you don't want. We did add the anywhere in the world option because we were traveling frequently. Before my husband actually passed away in September, be notified Neptune that his passing was imminent. Then when he passed at home with Hospice, Neptune was notified and were there in less than 2 hours to pick him up. Michael, in Tacoma, called me, gave me a time line for what would happen and then followed through until everything last thing was done. read more

Never, ever. Unless you don't mind spending hundreds of dollars for a service you don't want and will not use, run. away. They sell a "package" that includes every scenario possible (spreading ashes in the ocean - $500.00) A box for the ashes, mailing remains to various places ($349 each time they stick it in the mail) People, beware, this place is all about getting money, money, money. ps. My elderly mom had paid for cremation services with Neptune 18 years ago. All it took was a phone call and they got the ball rolling without trying to upsell me on anything (which I expected them to do). Everything was done professionally and compassionately. All emails were responded to right away; all questions answered without being made to feel like a nuisance. Annie was kind and caring, and when we went to pick up the remains, the room was full of expensive urns and jewelry, but thankfully she didn't even ask if we wanted to get anything. I appreciated that so much. The prices were displayed so I could look at stuff without needing to ask questions. My mom did us a huge service by prepaying for her cremation. The Tacoma team met all of my expectations. My wife and I are from Spokane but my wife was getting cancer treatment at Hutch (formerly Seattle Cancer Care Alliance) for 5 weeks. Thankfully, we had Neptune prepaid and included the out of area package. Cindy passed, Neptune was contacted and everything was quickly arranged. Communication was quick and continuous until they had all the info needed. They shipped flag, box and urn so Cindy could have her full military honors. I highly recommend you take care of arrangements before you need them. I sat through a free-lunch seminar for another company and was appalled by the hard sale program. The moment ANY company says, 'And if you buy RIGHT now, I can discount....", I know that it is a scam. So I went to the Neptune website expecting to find clear pricing and services. Instead, I am expected to schedule a meeting or sign up for a lunch meeting. I am guessing that the pricing is based on my zip code. So I wrote to Marco Markin, CEO, Neptune Society Corporate Office 100 NW 70th Avenue, Suite 100,Plantation, Florida 33317 asking for information and prices. Three weeks later I have not received a reply or even an email. Probably because the company is a scam. Either be transparent about your pricing and services or shut down. read more

First of all, I can only mainly speak to the personal service I received from them. My dad purchased a plan from them years ago that paid for all but the urn. We contacted them when my dad passed at an adult family home. The individual that came out to pick up my dad was very professional and considerate. My parents signed up with the Neptune Society in Southern California back in the mid-1990s. My father died in 2013 and my Step-Mom a few weeks ago, here in Seattle. I found a receipt from the Neptune Society among her records, so I called my local chapter, the day she died (1/18/2021). Within hours, the hardest logistical aspect of caring for my Step-Mom's body, was swiftly, and professional cared for. The representative was organized and very compassionate. The Neptune Society made caring for my Step-Mom immediately after her death, much less painful than it could have been. I am grateful that my parents planned ahead and chose the Neptune Society. read more

Today in the mail I received a letter for my father ( who does not live with me or even in Washington State ) from Neptune Society. It said it was a neighborhood survey. Their tag line as soon as you open the letter is Cremation, Today's sensible choice. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer about 1 month ago. The only place that has my address listed as his mailing address is the cancer center. I think it is in horrible taste to send a mailer pushing cremation after death to a person just diagnosed with cancer. To send some one this propaganda " disguised" as a community survey. Anyone being diagnosed with a possibly terminal disease should not be getting mailers pushing them to choose cremation. They are preparing for the fight of their life and you are telling them they are gonna lose. Shame on your marketing team read more

My dad purchased a plan with the Neptune Society many years ago, and then passed away last month after a good long life. He wasn't organized in the slightest with most of his affairs, but this aspect of his passing was well chosen. For years he has said to me "If anything happens just call Neptune". I had the number in my directory, so when he passed it was a simple phone call. In addition we called several times prior to his passing to ask about details and the customer service folks were extremely helpful. Nothing but trouble from the start. First there was a "glitch" in their system that prevented paperwork from being completed. Then there was confusion regarding the invoice. They never adequately explained it to us. Then, and this is the most upsetting part, we have just been notified that my dad has been laying in cold storage for almost two weeks because 1) they couldn't get the death certificate signed...I called the doctor and he it within hours and 2) now they say they had a problem at the crematorium and he's not been cremated yet. Hard enough to lose my dad but so awful to think about him laying around for weeks while they try to do the job we paid them good money for. It's a tough enough time without having a horrible visual of a loved one just being stored while they flounder to get the job done. I will not use them nor will I recommend them. read more

My mother and father purchased Neptune service years ago. They past away 3 weeks ago and 1 1/2 years ago, respectively. I contacted the Neptune Society at the hospital. A simple phone call in a terrible time. Both in middle of the night. They answered on the first ring and they had my parents information at their finger tips. They were at the hospital within 1 hour. Called me the next day and explained everything I needed. Took care of every detail as my parents has planned and paid for years before. No hidden fees, did not ask for a dime more than what my parents had paid years before. Even delivering Death Cert to my home. I would recommend them 1000 times over.100% satisfied. read more

My mother passed in January of 2012. She and Dad (who passed 3 years prior to her) both had contracts with Neptune. Mom had no problems with Dad, and she showed me where her urn was and left instructions with me as to what to do regarding her eventual passing. When that happened I had to fly up from Reno, NV. Upon arrival at Sea Tac I rented a car, went to the hospital and claimed her possessions. I notified the hospital that Neptune would be picking up her body. I then contacted Neptune and gave them the details. A couple of days later they called me and told me to come to the Tacoma office with the urn. At that time I was offered the opportunity to view her and say goodbye. I gave them her urn and left. Yes it's true regarding the death certificate - you have to go and hammer the people at the place that issues them to expedite the certificate. Since I was the executor and next of kin to her and Dad's estate, and lived 900 miles away, I had a limited amount of time to access all bank accounts, CD's, stock transfers, etc, none of which can be done without a death cert. YOU have to notify Neptune that they passed if they don't have their Neptune card in their personal possession, so don't blame Neptune for that. If I hadn't been there to constantly harangue the government office, it would have been a couple of weeks before the death cert was issued. Now Mom and Dad are together in their wall at Tahoma National Cemetery. I had to leave before interment, but Neptune took care of all the details. We were so impressed, we took some of our inheritance and bought our own reservations with them. We have our urns (our future condos I call them) in the closet and when we pass, our kin know where they are and what to do. Point is, you have to let your family know about these details before hand so they can be ready. In other words, the deceased must be RESPONSIBLE to let you know what to do when the time comes. No one likes to talk about it, but you must have that conversation. Don't blame someone else when you or your deceased love one didn't do their job and left you hanging in the dark. read more

Someone needs to give a positive report for this service as it was everything the contract purported it to be. My brother died recently and his daughter and myself dealt with Neptune Society. No one pushed anything on us. We were treated respectfully and the contract he had signed was followed to the letter. The only negative I can relate was that no one told us we would have to pay for a copy of the death certificate. I assumed that would be part of the contract. Turns out it isn't so that was an extra $20. Not much and not enough to get upset over. I just think it should have been made clear in the contract. I also have this service for myself. I hope it's as easy for my heirs as it was for us with my brother. read more

My husband and I are young, but we are now going to make plans through the Neptune Society for handling our cremation when the time comes. My mother was sick for a while so she had time to plan and prepare. That was such a loving thing to do for us. She kept a cardboard box in her closet marked "Neptune Society that contained an urn and all the required paperwork. All we had to do was notify them when she had passed and they were there within 2 hours. Infrequent or first-time users who want to share a positive experience during the time they're dealing with the death of a loved one should be shown.(SEE 'reviews not currently recommended' BELOW) My experience with Neptune Society of Tacoma was professional and pleasant. John Z. took all the time I needed and answered all of my questions so I was confident that choosing this plan meant my children will not go through the expense and family conflict I went through when my father passed. All of my kids have the details of my plan and know that it's simple transportation and cremation, nothing more and nothing more is needed for my wishes. The additional $400 or so for transportation anywhere in the world is an extra peace of mind well worth it as I intend to spend my last years travelling extensively. :D Thanks again, Neptune! read more
