The salon itself was beautiful - it is located in the Bolingbrook Promenade, and the decor is beautiful and relaxing. The receptionist was incredibly kind and offered me water, coffee or tea when I arrived which was a nice touch. Katy gave me an incredible head massage as a part of my shampoo. It was so relaxing and a true highlight of my experience. She was also incredibly kind and personable. However, my haircut wasn't as great as the rest of the experience. I asked for it to be just below the shoulders, and instead, my cut was above the shoulders. When Katy dried my hair, she asked if I wanted it styled straight or with my natural wave, and I said let's go with my natural wave. I think that was a mistake, because while it looked a little off when I left, I assumed it was just the wave playing tricks on my brain. After I washed my hair the next day, I realized how uneven the cut was. There was about an inch and a half difference between the left and the right side, and it was unevenly cut throughout. Since I noticed on a Saturday evening how bad it was, I ended up going to a local hair Cuttery to get it fixed and they did a great job but did have to remove a bit more length to make it all one length. I ended up with a long bob instead of just below my shoulders. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the salon itself, but the cut didn't live up to the experience. I might try a different stylist in the future since I did enjoy the location and general vibes, though appointment availability seems quite limited so that may just not end up being convenient or realistic with my schedule.

Chong showed me the color samples, explained to me how the chemicals work and then she worked on her magic. She told me she mix 3 browns together to achieve the look I want. Omg, I love it!!! It's so subtle but I can see the color peaking out under the sunlight. By mixing 3 colors, she literally made mini highlights on my hair! I called to schedule my appointment, and I'm so glad I did! I have been getting my hair colored since 13 and aware of the capabilities and limitations, but this is so subpar for $400. Hopefully, it will lighten up after a few washes/will have to go elsewhere to get it corrected. Also, I despise a salon that requires that you purchase a blow dry. $70 extra so I can see what color you turned my hair? Am I supposed to walk out with it wet? The blow dry is not a full, bouncy blowout either. It's what you'd do yourself at your house. Added negative, I referred my mother to the salon and was told by her that I'd receive a referral gift. I didn't mention at checkout because I wanted to see if it was worth coming back to. Unfortunately, I think I'm done here.

I received a reply stating to go ahead and book and she would make a note that I'd only like to be paired with Adwoa. I thanked her and attempted to book but could not bypass the question for the Braider so I put anyone available. When I book, I always answer the question No to being paired with someone else if need be. I received several confirmation texts and emails with my appointment time for 5:30 pm with Adwoa. The day of my visit at 12:11 pm I received a text with an appointment reminder with Pokes. That same day at 2:30 pm I was asked to come at 4:30 pm which I agreed. At 2:55 pm I then received another text with an appointment reminder for Helena at 4pm. At that point I decided to keep my 4:30 pm because I would not have made the 4pm which I'm glad I did because she was still busy with another customer and did not get to me until 5pm. That is 2 changes to the Braider and 2 changes to the time. When I asked the Booker about all the changes and why I was rescheduled with 2 different people she said sometimes there are issues and they have to switch Braiders. She then asked if I listed on the appointment slip that I did not want to be paired with someone else and I told her Yes. She pulled up the appointment and showed me that I had requested anyone available but I explained to her that I was not able to leave that part blank because Adwoa was not listed on the drop down menu and that she had said she would make sure I was paired with Adwoa. She did apologize but that was not enough. She should have remembered my request or once I arrived, explained to me why I had been switched around and rescheduled. Although Helena did a good job on my hair, I think that this was a major miscommunication issue. I did reach out to Mimi as she requested before you do a review, but after more than 24 hours not hearing back from her, I decided to go ahead and do the review even though I was reluctant. I have been to this shop many times but this really disappointed and frustrated me that it was handled so poorly.

Fadi is one of the very best stylists I have ever been to!! He listens to his clients needs, truly cares about his clients and does a fabulous job. So I can't really give a place 5 stars if I've only been there once; however, I will definitely be…read morethere twice so we'll see. Hannah was my stylist and colorist and she was just great. It's also obviously a family affair since I'm fairly certain I was the only one there who didn't know anyone. But the way they spoke about mutual friends/family was really evident. Everyone knew who they were speaking about. I thought the prices were definitely reasonable. I won't comment on my result since someone doing your hair for the first time is going in blind (and I've had people who have done mine several times come out looking like they're going in blind). But it definitely did look awesome. It's quaint, but they offer you drinks (even wine). My one complaint would be the space is too small. Every station was taken and they were even sharing stations (not in a weird way AT ALL) just to get someone in the chair, in the dryer and in the sink. But overall experience was definitely higher end and I will be back (hopefully with Hannah). I do miss the days of living in the city and having one person completely dedicated to color and another completely dedicated to style...that being said they don't have the space for that so not going to try to say something negative about that. If you're nearby, I truly suggest you check it out.
