I recently moved to Las Cruces and first sought out small, unique cafes that are my favorite kind of spot. Nessa's is such a place and I always enjoy my semi-regular visits. The food does a take a little longer to reach you, but the care with which it's prepared is always obvious. They also have a wonderful selection from their menu, the coffee bar, and the bakery. Not impressed with the burrito.... very oily and so much onions. Thank god I checked to see if they had onions in the burrito because I have allergies to them . I've been going to the Sonic a lot down the street because its close n cheap but now that I discovered Nessas Cafe im totally dumping them. They have FAT burrito's the bacon is thick and crispy. The two times I've been there I've always found sum delicious pastries to eat. Today I got a Bacon Egg & Cheese burrito which was around $5 (also comes with a orange slice) I also got a chocolate chip muffin which was like around $3 and was a pretty big sized muffin. They have decent parking, a drive thru window, outside sitting area thats shaded and sometimes they have live music going on. This is my new favorite breakfast place read more

I live in El Paso, but work takes me to Cruces a couple times a week, and I often try and find someplace interesting to eat while I'm there. The corporate chains, sushi and pho, and taco trucks so prevalent in El Paso get old pretty quick. A Cruces friend who knows my penchant for restaurant originality turned me on to this new place, Nessa's, so I headed there for lunch. I must say, the parking situation is not ideal. Choices seem to be either the street, or a small gravel lot that, at least on the day of my visit, had construction going on in it. I chose the lot anyway, but felt sorta bad about making the already small lot even smaller with my bigass work truck. Once inside Nessa's though, the grey gravel lot was quickly forgotten. The Ishihara Test says I'm colorblind, but the walls and tables inside Nessa's say otherwise. The place is anything but drab. Definitely an "artsy" quality to it you're likely to find in similar cafe's, but stops short of gaudy or preschoolish. It's a clean, warm place to be. It wasn't terribly busy when I was there. Three other tables with people, and a pretty consistent stream of visitors coming in for to-go orders. Nobody lacked for service at any point. In fact during my time there I was consistently visited by two waitresses and a guy with an apron. AND was given a friendly nod from a distance by the guy behind the counter. Outside of the people in the kitchen, I think I was acknowledged by everyone who worked there. Maybe they just felt sorry for the "solo" patron, but whatever the case I felt welcomed. My iced tea never went below half-full before it was automatically refilled by the waitress, and I waited all of 15 minutes for my food. I ordered the Bacon and Brie Grilled Cheese with Parsnip and Carrot Fries, and I highly recommend it. I was especially partial to the fries; and the bread for the sandwich was, literally, identical to my mom's own homemade bread. It really sort of tripped me out, as I've never expected to taste my mom's cooking outside of mom's house. So, bonus points to the baker for getting inside my head. Before I left, I got an iced mocha to-go. In all honesty, I have to say its been a very long time since I had such a great mocha. Good balance, and a thickness to it you'll never get from the likes of Starbuck's. Portions and price were reasonable in my opinion. There really wasn't anything in my experience at Nessa's that would even slightly hint at the single star rating some other people have given the place. Personally, I prefer to reserve 1 star ratings for establishments that actively try and murder me. That way the severity of their crime isn't diluted by previous 1 star ratings for things like runny eggs or longish wait times. But to each their own I guess. All in all, I really like Nessa's so far. 5 stars! With the qualification that, as my final act, I might lower the score if they make an attempt on my life. Barring that, I plan to make it a regular stop on my Cruces visits. So long as I can find someplace to park. read more

This is our favorite breakfast spot in Las Cruces. You can expect every morning for there to freshly baked yummy goodness of all kinds. The scones (cinnamon pecan, YUM) are my favorite and when Nessa bakes up gluten free goodies on the weekends you would never be able tell they are gluten free. Most times we are in we are also taking home some type of yummy apple pie. The apples and the pecans all coming from local friends and family. My favorite cafe in Las Cruces! Nessa's always has fresh pastries, I have yet to try anything I don't love. (I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls) Coffee is always local and freshly brewed. Flavoring and cream preference are always offered upon ordering. Menu changes weekly, which I personally enjoy because you don't get stuck with the same options. However, I usually get the yogurt with fruit & granola (house-made and wonderful by the way) I just love my visits to Nessa's. Only thing missing is mimosas! read more

This has become a place of comfort for me. It's a small little cafe run by the owner and never really has more than 3 people working. It's a mellow paced, people-loving atmosphere. I love the atmosphere, people, and product. The food is cooked in a small kitchen, often with one cook, so consistency is spot on. Menu is original and uncomplicated. What they do they do well. The pastry case is full of fresh same day goodies so choose those first. Coffee is solid and reliable. Stopped by this cafe because of the charming pictures online. The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. They have only one vegan option, but it's a good one: the Mason Jar salad. It was lovely and tasted fresh. I had my iced coffee with almond milk and a flavor shot of lavender. It tasted heavenly! NICE LITTLE BISTRO WITH GOOD PEOPLE AND GOOD FOOD This little cafe is a clean, colorful, and comfortable place for a casual meal. There are about eight tables which are quite large. I found the service very pleasant and quick. Everyone was very nice from Nessa on down. The one downside is that the menu at Nessa's is quite limited, but prices are very reasonable. I ordered the daily special (which I suggested should be made permanent on the menu). This was a PITA WRAP EGG AND BACON BREAKFAST SANDWICH. I also sampled their fresh lemonade since I am not a coffee drinker. Total cost, about $8.00. The meal was freshly made and on my table within ten minutes. The lemonade was good but not great. But, there was a lot of lemonade in the jar for the money. The sandwich accompanied by a selection of grapes was excellent. The pita was warmed on the grill and had a great texture and flavor. The sandwich included some greens, onion, cheese, some delicious bacon, and some perfectly cooked eggs. The combination was delicious. A perfect blend well executed. I would definitely order it again. What to expect if you go: A small but bright little place for a casual breakfast or lunch, very pleasant and engaging service, a smallish menu, and some freshly prepared and well executed meals. Well 1st of all it took a few minutes to get service. The waitress was talking to some friends for a few mins before she came and took our order. No high chairs or booster seats. Latte was cold and was not made properly. You can tell the Barista was inexperienced. The iced tea wad not fresh tasted as if was made early in the morning. Tea and coffee should be thrown out after a few hrs. The menu was very limited so we ordered the only sandwich that was available. When we got out meatball subs it was a half a sandwich and some salad mix with only pieces of meatball and bread was very soggy. No dressing was on the salad mix nor was there any offered. I normally don't mind paying a high price for good food but this was subpar at best. Definitely not worth the price. read more

My husband and I were there today for brunch. We went there because we had seen good reviews on it. Service was very slow. We got a coffee but server never offered milk or cream, and never came back to offer a refill. We both ordered breakfast special which is eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I like my eggs over medium but they practically scrambled one and the other was runny. Pancakes were not fluffy at all. Only thing they got right was the bacon. I wouldn't recommend it nor will I be returning. read more

ok, first let me say, the waitstaff is super nice. Thats why they got two stars. They open at 8:30 according to everything on the internet, so we got there at 8:25 to make sure we got a seat. When we walked in the tables they do have were filled with people eating, (which are like 3 tables) and they had one huge table that was empty, that had been pushed together to accomidate a large party. Someone asked if we were part of the party, and when we said no, we were sent outside in the dirt to wait "10" minutes til a table came open. 25 minutes came and went, nothing, then then owner said "shouldn't be too much longer". Another 10 minutes and as we were getting back into the car he came out and let us know it was available. We walked in and the big party still hadn't arrived, we could've sat there and finished breakfast and been out by then. My husband ordered cloud eggs or something like that, which he said was very similar to eating air. I ordered a egg sandwich with bacon, which came out without the egg. I told them i didnt get my egg, and they seemed to hurry off to make an egg. My mother got a scone, which was rough going down, especially since it took forever to get refills on coffee. I finished my bagel without the egg, just as the smallest egg i've ever seen in my life came out on a teacup plate. and they said "here's a couple scones to take home for your trouble" . I would've laughed if i wasn't hungry and annoyed at that point. Oh and this is the point where the large party came in finally. So, i gave them 2 stars because they were nice enough. The owner walked around constantly with her baby, (which got old too) So i'm not sure who is leaving the good reviews, can only be friends of the place. Sunday morning, after a lovely camping trip in the Organ Mountains, we were looking for a delicious brunch spot. I loved Nessa's upon walking in for its colorful, comfortable atmosphere. Before we even entered the restaurant, the employees cheerfully greeted us. The coffee... SO fresh and delicious, and plentiful refills. I ordered the daily special - crepes with strawberries (simple but so well done), and my partner got the BLT. I kept eyeing the dessert case display, full of delicious and creative choices. I'll come back one day for the blueberry grilled cheese, which I wanted, but they were out of the bread, which is baked fresh each morning and used until it's gone. Maybe an orange lavender iced tea, too. The prices are right for what you get: fresh, delicious, thoughtful food. Definitely pay a visit to Nessa's! read more

My daughter and I just visited this new shop and we loved it. I had their poblano soup, lavender ice T and my daughter had their fresh made croissant. It was wonderful. If you get a chance you should try this place out. The owner is absolutely sweet and was checking on her customers. I love that she breathed new life into this building. Read about the place and decided to give it a try. Ordered the breakfast special: eggs, bacon, pancakes (easy, right?) and coffee.. Coffee came black, no sugar or cream. Found it ourselves over by the coffee bar. After about a 20 minute wait (and don't think you'll be asked if you'd like a coffee refill during those 20 minutes) out came the breakfast. Pancakes partially burned, eggs undercooked. They did manage to prepare the bacon properly. Finished the meal, waited for a check. FInally caught the waitress to find out how to pay. Finally made it there for lunch last week. It's smaller inside than I thought it would be, the opposite of the Tardis, but colorful, cozy, and clean. The baked goods are excellent, there is a good variety of coffees, and the people who run it seem like they really ENJOY what they are doing, which is refreshing. I had the BLT, which was very good but not remarkable, my husband had the quiche, which he enjoyed a great deal, and we each had a cup of the soup, a lemony chicken one with loads of flavor, served in a real old fashioned cup and saucer, just like Granny would give you if you were sick. It being National Chocolate chip Cookie Day, we were presented with chocolate chip cookies on the house. Cold drinks are served in quart Mason jars, and if you LOVE iced coffee, that's the way to go; my husband took half of his with him in a to-go cup and worked on that sucker all the rest of the afternoon. It's a charming little place with interesting specials which change weekly, and I look forward to my next visit there, when I will definitely be trying a cone bread sandwich. Went for lunch. The place is very small, with only about 8 tables. Given that, it is well-decorated and looks very hip and comfy. The specials menu had interesting items but the regular menu seemed much more weighted on sweet breakfast foods rather than sandwiches and soups. Ordered the BLT and E which is a BLT with a fried egg. It was great! Also got the blueberry sandwich which really is two pieces of blueberry fruit bread with cream cheese and blueberries in the middle. While it was good, it was quite thin on both the cream cheese and the blueberries. In fact there were only three blueberries in the cream cheese. The coffee is locally sourced and great. The iced tea was orange and lavender and was also very good. Overall this is a great place to come to if you are not looking for a large lunch or if you have a sweet tooth. The bakery case upfront had an amazing array of baked goods all reasonably priced. I'll definitely come back again but maybe not if I'm in the mood for a good-sized lunch. If they could add even two or three more lunch items it would feel closer to a breakfast and lunch restaurant and not quite so much like a really good coffee shop. read more

After reading a review in the paper, my brother and I thought we would check it out for lunch. Lots of atmosphere inside even though it is very small. We were lucky to get a table as it was busy. Service was not great, the menu is limited and what we ordered for lunch was disappointing. I ordered the French onion soup and my brother ordered the meatball sandwich. Soup came in a nice sized bowl with very little broth and a huge slice of bread that soaked up all the broth because there was so little. The onions were still crunchy and not caramelized at all. The broth was weak and flavorless. Not worth the $4. The meatball sandwich had three small meatballs on a very small bun. That was all that was on the plate, no garnish, no chips, nothing else but the sandwich. No presentation at all. The meatballs were tough and not very tasty. Definitely not worth $7. We left and went to Le Rendezvous and had a much better lunch. Would not recommend nor return. read more
