If you're a city dweller looking to buy gifts for a baby shower and don't want to go to extremes like cavernous Babies R Us or highbrow Giggle, give Nest Maternity a try. Yes, expect city-like prices. But they have a cute selection of onesies, baby clothes, slings. The gals working here have always been nice and welcoming and showed me their selection of babyshower-type gifts. Felt like a true neighborhood shop, with zero pretentious 'tude. I love this store! They're maternity clothes are so great (and pregnant mamas KNOW how hard it is to find stylish clothes), the customer service is EXCELLENT and if you have a toddler (like I do), you can keep them occupied in the little kid's corner in the back of the store while you shop. The owner and the employees make you feel right at home and are extremely helpful. I love that you can also get nursing gear, newborn and infant clothes there too. It makes everything so convenient. Nest is by far the best maternity store I have been too! Their selection of clothing for pregnant and nursing moms is amazing. The prices range from low to high and the quality is very high! My mom came to visit to help me find an outfit for my shower and I printed out a list of places to go. Nest Maternity is closest to my apartment so we started there before heading downtown. Everything was super cute and high quality! They pretty much had anything and everything I was looking for so after picking out 3 outfits (and a baby outfit) we were done with our shopping and we didn't have to go downtown to continue shopping (which was great!) so got to enjoy a leisurely lunch instead! They sales associates were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend making it to this store if you are in need of some nice quality maternity clothing. read more

Great Customer Service!! It is really hard feeling good, pretty or even a touch of fashionable while pregnant..but Nest helps! The man that helped us is the owner and could not have been more patient or nicer to my husband. We were looking for this belly butter from Momma Mio, and although they did carry several of the other products, they did not have the belly butter. The owner called the other store that carried it and had them put a container on hold for us! I bought a really cute pair of capris from Nest that I know I will wear to death this summer. A cute store! I would consider going back here when I am in need of something for a special occasion. The staff were friendly and helpful. I found a dress on the sale rack right away and a pair of shorts. Since I was using a yelp deal and had purchased from the sale rack, the whole sale was final.. including the shorts (which were full price). This store is very cute and they have a lot of stuff both in the store and online. I found Nest Maternity yesterday on Yelp and was excited to check it out. I went to their website site and saw that they had a lot of cute maternity clothes and specifically wanted a denim skirt that was on sale. The store is close to my house, so I stopped off on the way home to try it on and make sure about the size. At the store, I decided to go ahead and buy the skirt, but the sales person charged me full price (the website offered it for $50 less). I let her know about the sale online and asked if she could match the price. She said "online prices are different", plus you have to pay shipping (which is actually $6 not $50). She said she could not match the price, so I went home and ordered the skirt online (I still wanted it) and it is now being shipped to me from the store on Divisadero. To me this is terrible customer service, while the woman was very nice and helpful in the store, it makes no sense to not match the price I could get online and actually force me to go home and order it. I am still giving it 3 stars because they have a lot of cute things, but I would recommend checking their website before purchasing anything at the actual store, given the huge price discrepancies. read more

Great customer service and attention. Really adorable clothing both for expectant/new mamas, and for the babies. I went in for some comfy bras to take me through third trimester and nursing and scored - plus they were on special at 20%! The only downside is the parking out front is limited to 30 min at the meters so you have to power shop. read more

**SUPERB customer service!!** I actually live in the DC Metro area and purchased a pair of Chip & Pepper maternity jeans through their online store. First of all, the free shipping is a great bonus! AND I received my item within 3 days of ordering. Once I received the jeans, I dropped them off to be altered and then washed them once I got them home again. When I took them out of the dryer I noticed a pencil eraser-sized hole in the bum. And I hadn't even worn them yet! I contacted Kimberly via email and let her know the situation and she responded immediately. She told me to send the jeans back, that she had already put a brand new pair on hold for me and that once she received the defective merchandise she would send the new pair out to me. Her willingness and effort to sort out the situation was very much appreciated and she is an exemplary representation of what customer service is all about. I cannot rave enough about her (and Ken) and their store. I have already passed along this story to my friends and family and you can be rest assured that they will be shopping at Nest Maternity in the future. Thanks again!! read more

This brand new hip maternity shop is independently owned and just what SF needs! Kimberly, the friendly owner is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and will place special orders. She has a wide selection, from t-shirts, dresses, trousers, underwear (including the rare breed of sexy and affordable nursing bras!) to baby slings and diaper bags. Quite affordable especially since when I encountered the shop there was a 50% sale on (thru 12/1). For hip/casual maternity wear this is much better than going across the bay or down to the peninsula for the usual suspect - big chain shops . Wow, blown away by the significant difference in quality of the maternity bra they carry versus the one I bought from Pea in the Pod - stronger quality, more support, and doesn't feel like it'll fall apart after a few washes. Their yoga pants and maternity tops are also comfy. Great selection overall. Definitely getting quality here and pretty much the same price as chain stores. read more

i love this place. everything in it is adorable, with an amazing selection of clothes for both baby and mama, and the most fashionable diaper bags i've ever seen. yes, it is a bit expensive. but they are always having sales or coupons or anniversary events, which makes for some pretty reasonable prices. the staff is so helpful and just really friendly, which can't be said for many boutiques in pacific heights, maternity or not. read more

I went in with very high hopes for chic, fun (and possibly expensive - I'm willing to pay for quality) maternity clothing. It was fine, but nothing great, prices were fine for what they were (pants $70-100, dresses $125-175). A lot of polyester, and the cuts and patterns were kind of "eh". What really disappointed me, though, was that I went in with a Groupon. I paid $20 for $40 worth of stuff. After I was rung up for over $200 worth of merchandise, I was told that using the Groupon made the entire purchase Final Sale. Then, after I walked out of the store, I noticed that I hadn't gotten the additional 15% off the (one) sale item I selected. When I went back in and asked about it, I was told that I didn't get it because of the Groupon. Well, if I'd known all that, I would have simply used the Groupon for one item over $40, and then had everything else rung up in a separate transaction. It really seemed petty to me. Wasn't worth the time to hassle about it (I'm pretty sure that if I'd tried to split up the transaction, I would have been told that my whole transaction was final sale), so I'm just going to go to other places with better quality and service policies in the future. read more

The shop is super cute and in my neighborhood, so I will likely stop in here again, but I'm so disappointed to see that the tea I paid $10.50 for and the Preggie Pops I also paid $10.50 for are available on the incredibly overpriced Diapers.Com for $5.99 each. I am all for supporting local small businesses, but this kind of mark-up is bananas. Really great and friendly customer service. I came to the store looking for nursing tops, not only did Ken point me to the right rack and showed me some options, he even went through the sales racks for me and found lots of options my size! He was genuinely helpful without being pushy at all. He recommended a nursing cover which has worked out really well for me, now I can finally nurse in public without it being a complete hassle. There was a nice rocking chair for nursing plus water and i could even change my baby's diaper. It felt like a real family place, not just another shop. Parking isn't as bad as I would have thought, although once in the store, it's easy to spend more time in there than your parking meter may allow :) Nest has a great variety of clothing, purses, diaper bags, baby slings, infant clothing, and MORE! I love the "personal touch" of having refreshments in the back of the store, and a little play area for kids. It's nice to have a nice "mom & pop" shop in the area that's trendy. The maternity clothes are so versatile, you can wear them post pregnancy. I noticed that all the clothes I liked didn't have the word, "maternity" on the label...so you don't have to have a "complex" about wearing them after you have your baby!! :) They also sold hand-made gift cards at the register that were really cute (more reasonably priced compare to Papyrus). I've never written a review before but after the phone interaction I had with Ken at Nest Maternity, I decided now would be the first time. I bought a pair of basic black maternity leggings at Nest. I tried on the sample pair as Ken suggested. He was helpful and friendly while I was shopping. He explained the sample pair would be baggy at the top of the stomach panel because of multiple shoppers trying them on but that this would not be the case with a new pair. They seemed fine otherwise, but I only tried them on for a few minutes. I wore the leggings twice over the past several days, and each time, within an hour of having them on, I had to begin constantly pulling them up. They won't stay put. I've tried wearing them with the full panel up over my belly and with it rolled down under my belly. I'm 5 months pregnant so there is definitely a belly there. All around the top three or four inches of the panel is baggy and they just won't stay up. I feel like I'm wearing panty hose that keep sliding down. On the Nest website it says to call the store to ask about returns. I followed instructions and called the store to ask if they would accept a return or issue a store credit. When Ken, the same person who sold me the leggings, called me back he immediately became adversarial in his tone, explained that they had never received that particular feedback about these leggings and that he can't take the return because he can't resell them once they've been worn. I tried to tell him that even though he never got feedback like what I was telling him before, he was getting it now and should appreciate that from a current customer. I also tried to suggest to him that he consider passing along my feedback to other customers but he cut me off, telling me to contact the leggings manufacturer then sarcastically wished me "luck with my pregnancy". He was really rude about it----I guess he doesn't feel the need to be so helpful or friendly once he's made a sale. I was kind of in shock over his attitude and told him that I understood I wasn't getting a refund or credit, but that because if this interaction I wouldn't be coming back in to the store. I completely understand the difficulty they would have in reselling something that has already been opened and worn. That's why I called to check if they would take the return. I do think that they should consider issuing store credit to someone who is unhappy with a product if they return it with a receipt which I was prepared to do and which almost every other store that I've shopped at does. I can't think of a time I haven't gotten at least a store credit for a returned item. But the main problem that I have is with Ken's attitude. Future buyers, be warned---most of the items Nest sells is not inexpensive. If I had purchased one of the $200 pairs of maternity jeans Ken was trying to talk me into the day I bought the leggings I would probably be much more upset. read more

this place rocks. nice selection of clothes, hip diaper bags, cute baby clothes, and little kick knacks. customer service is superb. i had purchased two slings shortly after i delivered my baby and discovered that they were too big for me since i lost some of the pregnancy weight and they allowed me to exchange them for a smaller size with no hassle even tho i was slightly past their return date policy. unfortunately i found out about this little gem after i delivered, otherwise i would have shopped here much sooner. definitely a very enjoyable shopping experience and i will go back. read more
