Their approach to work is terrible! The selection is terrible. I believe that if a store is open until 9 PM, then the meat and fish departments should also be open until closing time! Especially if you can't offer any alternatives on the shelves! "I won't call the manager, she probably won't weigh anything for you anyway" - well, then the manager should indicate in the schedule that these departments close earlier. I left my purchases purely out of principle because of this approach to customer service! - $500 they could have earned in 10 minutes Good luck with that kind of service! read more

I bought an expensive package of lox (smoked salmon). I opened it 2 days later and it smelled terrible. So terrible that I did not want to taste it! I brought it back and a man working at the store did not trust me so he tasted it, and said it was fine; therefore he would not exchange it. I tell this to people who shop at other supermarkets and they find it hard to believe this actually happened. There is no such thing here as customer service. The feeling conveyed is that the customer is always wrong and management is always right. Kind of like shopping in a country ruled by a dictatorship. Shop here if you must but do not expect graciousness or respect. It must be hard for the people working here; because they never seem happy! read more

i bought a raw salmon, the day they put it on the shelf, 2 days ago, it said it expires 01/24th. yesterday when i took it out from fridge and opened it it smelled spoiled, threw it into the garbage. paid more than $15 dollars. Most of the workers there seemed arrogant and cocky, especially the cashiers. They are not that friendly, and do not know how to smile. I bet you that even if they won the lottery, they wouldn't be able to smile because they are sad sad individuals who are miserable deep inside. Besides the arrogant staffs, the customers are also rude! I got shoved by a babushka when I was trying to get hummus in the frozen aisle. She had plenty of space, but decided to ram her cart in me and gave me a cocky stare. To make things worst, she doesn't apologize after she rams into me. Perhaps this rudeness characteristic is a cultural thing. The laborers who work outdoor are uncivilized people because they obstruct the sidewalk (can't even walk through), and litter garbage on the streets and on their next door neighbors home. They should have the courtesy to clean after themselves. Last but not least, the lazy security guard (who does not do anything but smokes) is a useless individual. Net Cost SUCKS BIG TIME! read more

I'd been shopping in the food store for over ten years, and always liked the foods sold there, beginning from fresh-baked bread, and ending by seafood. When I stop by, my favorites to be put in the cart are: Cookies, called "Nuts" ("Oréshki"), green apple juice, Hungarian bread, vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, so on and etc. Once, I remember: I placed order on-line, because of my lack of time to be in the market in-person, and my products' delivery was very quick, and it was affordable, ain't pricey at all, I believe -- this's the way it should be ("I, never, know"!, now a translation into my native Russian "Málo li"). Do not buy a chicken at this store, and, in principle, meat! Very poor quality, and the day is not in the refrigerator - there is a terrible smell! Just buy a chicken - 1/2 fresh, and 1/2 exactly spoiled! On the shelves is delay - check the date! The store would be very good if they do not sell spoiled and rotten products. Their policy to accept returns during 24 hours is ridiculous! I usually purchase a weekly food supply at a time and I obviously would not open all the containers I bought right away to see if it's content's did not get rotten long before the expiration date stamped on it! Yesterday I brought back a container with "Crepes with Cheese" filled with apricot preserves instead of cheese, but they refused to issue a refund because I bought it more then 24 hours ago! Everything is pretty good in this store. The food itself the conditions of it, the price. It's all great. It is very clean. Always a lot of people which is bad for customers,but not for the owners ( not a negative comment). I came here after three months on a Saturday night and the security staff was following me around the whole time I was in the store. I felt like I was a thief watching this tall security guy following me. Apparently the security staff doesn't like people to linger in the store and look at new products before they buy. I used to like this store because it has products from all over the world. I'd like to browse and shop. After 15 or 20 minutes the security staff came over to me and ask me what I was doing in the store . I had my wagon full of things and I told them I needed to get a milk. They were very nasty that security staff on Saturday night. I will never come back to this store. I hope there administration reads this review and teaches their security people not to treat their customers as. Thiefs . Friends stay away from this store. read more

Prices are higher than in many stores on Brighton and all but one salads I bought there on Sunday were on the verge of spoiling. In fact, I had to throw away pretty much everything I bought, including Lavash that was covered in mold spots all over. Waste of money. This is a Russian supermarket. Not to be racist or anything but Russian ladies are so mean, tough, and aggressive. They sell a lot of Eastern European produce. There is a deli section, bread section, and a buffet by the pound. They sell like pickled everything. Get the Net Cost club card. It's free and it takes 1 minute to sign up. Just ask someone at the register. It feels like a gourmet supermarket without the high price. The prices are very reasonable and they always have sales. read more

Don't buy meats here, specially pork. They repacking old meat to look like fresh. Even they cut it half and turn to the other side to look nice. It's disgusting! Also they are so rude. I don't really know what some of the other reviewers are talking about, because every time I have come here, the fruits and vegetables are so fresh and good! I don't know any other supermarket that has as good of a selection as Net Cost in the whole area. I love their prices too - especially if you sign up for their card (free), you can get some really good deals (like Greek yogurts for only $1.. I mean the good brands too!). The people who work here are so cute and nice. Everything is super organized and clean. The space is so easy to navigate and they have absolutely everything you could want. Also, the food at the hot bar is sooo good -perfect when I am too lazy to cook :). This is by far my favorite supermarket in Brooklyn! read more

This place is right next to my house and I always go there when I am in need to fill my fridge for food. The place has your average groceries that you might want. The place is kinda small, so you can find yourself in small crowded places. I was there yesterday and what really annoyed me is the cleaning lady with this really big cleaning machine. The place is already small so why are you going around during busy hours doing this work? It really annoyed me and then at a certain point she stared me down when I was in her way like she was about to kill me. Clean the store when nobody is there! Growing up Eastern European, nothing reminded me more of home than going here looking for pickled tomatoes and salo, which I was hard-pressed to find in other grocery stores near me. Knowing Russian definitely helps in navigating the store, but the workers are happy to help you find what you're looking for regardless of language. The store gets crowded, amplified by how small the location is, but it's crowded for a reason: the huge variety of specialty foods, supplemented with the large amount of "regular" food you'd find in any grocery store, definitely warrants customers. The best part of the store is the self serve hot/cold food section, where you can find typical prepared Eastern European food, from salads to meats, priced by weight, Whole Foods style. The store truly does it all, all while making me nostalgic for my childhood. read more

This store has an amazing selection of produce and all things Eastern European. Their fruit/vegetable department has millions of options and extremely high quality products. Everything tastes the way it's supposed to, and not like the cheap grocery store versions. Employees are very diligent and knowledgeable. Even if they don't quite understand what you're looking for, they will ask someone who does. I was looking for a specific kind of quinoa, which really wasn't that important, and they called over three people to help me find it. The management is very nice and hands-on. I've met the manager once in passing, and not only was she helpful but very funny! Would definitely recommend this store if you're looking for great food. read more

Being that my grandmother is of Russian descent, I ofter visit nearby NetCost Market with her. Yesterday however she was just too ill to do her weekly shopping so I took over, however I do not speak Russian... Oops, I found myself a little lost and was unable to locate some of the items on her list. One of the workers that I've approached spoke little English but was able to guide me to someone who spoke very well. She was not only helpful in locating most of the items (thank you!!!) but even helped me look up my grandmother's discount on the computer so I wouldn't miss out on the sales. Store might be small but it carries a wide variety of European delicacies. I was very satisfied with today's visit so I will be returning for my own shopping needs as well! read more

I just went to NetCost last week and am still thinking about what a pleasant experience I had there. I've lived in America all my life but grew up in a European family. I moved to Brooklyn this year and finally found a market where I can find the items my family uses. I was greeted with smiles and one woman even walked me to find these Italian cookies that I vaguely described to her. She even introduced me to some candies from Russia sold there which I'm now in love with. I don't normally write Yelp reviews but, this place definitely deserves the attention. Brighter, ("upscale" lighting) cleaner and more spacious than some of the other non net cost Brooklyn Russian supermarkets.. prices are a bit higher than many of those also though and selection is about the same more or less, some products I couldn't find that are usually at " fortuna" or even the, tiny in comparison, shops closer to me. Employees had uniforms and were super polite, (even to each other I was kind of surprised) at one point when I was waiting for bread a fight broke out between two guys next to the pelmeni freezer and the workers handled it super smooth) Fresh Breads are good here though, (got a borodinsky and a lvovskiy earlier today and already almost finished both 300g loaves) the selection of packaged breads is really small though. Also the prepared food hot bar, kind of limited selection but seemed fresh, got some pickled and smoked things, I think next time I'll just make myself since it's actually more expensive than the jars. Water is kind of hard to find..they split it up only saw a couple end shelves with the little glass Lermontov) branded mineral water. went initially because a friend told me they had a sale on some Georgian water I like, and some produce, but I couldn't find the water, I know they had it because I saw it in the bag of the guy behind me (after I had already paid) about produce, I guess it's ok, probably decent compared to random overpriced wilted stuff but produce is really excellent in the places super close to me so I was not impressed.. not like horrified either though) read more

i had a simple task pick up some russian caviar for a friend and leave, but me being a curious dude, i had to look around. number one, a nice selection of russia. and euro food products, number two, cashiers who dont smile or make an effort to smile. if you are a comrade and in my short visit i got to see plenty, this is your grocery store. the selections and prices are not bad, and they seem to have a neat, clean, organized shop. the russian community from brighton beach, is moving to the bensonhurst area, little by little, its just a matter of time when more russian theme shops will open, until then raise a glass of smirnoff and enjoy your caviar. read more

Not the place to go if you only speak English and/or are looking for a supermarket/grocery store. If you're Eastern European and looking for a market that reminds you of home, it's definitely the grocery store for you. When I walked into the store to buy a few groceries, I felt like I'd been transported from Brooklyn and was in another country. I asked a store worker where the canned vegetables were and she told me she didn't know what I was talking about... then she literally SKIPPED away. Yes, SKIPPED. I asked another store employee and she told me she doesn't speak English. Not even the store announcements were in English. I found the canned vegetables on my own... they only had corn, peas, and chickpeas! As I was being rung up, I noticed that the store had a rewards card customers could sign up for to take advantage of sales and savings. The male cashier was so busy playing with some young woman's hair and caressing her face that he didn't bother to ask if I had one or would like to sign up for one. I would have saved over $3.00. I considered interrupting his pre-make out session to ask to sign up for the rewards card, but then thought better of it... since I never plan on going back there. Ever read more
