I can easily say just the food alone is worth the travel. if you like eastern European food or you never tried it this is gateway. Some of it is suppose to be crispy so just pop it in the air fryer or oven when your home and as good as new. I didnt get to try everything since it was my first time there, but everything I did get was exceptional. I will update this again if it is not true the next time. Now Market wise I was pleasantly surprised that it was not very expensive in there considering a lot of stuff was imports. Came here as this was a closer option than going to Brighton Beach for Russian goods. We came late, so the buffet section was already closed. But, we were able to grab some pelmeni, cold smoked mackerel, mushroom salad, and beet salad. I can't wait to go back to try the hot foods. 4 years of high school Russian class and being chronically online have absolutely prepared me for this moment. I came on a mission to try the viral tiktok snack: cold smoked mackerel with boiled potatoes and raw onion. When I saw the shrink-wrapped fish in person at Netcost I went so pale but I grabbed a random squishy cold fish (Haifa brand) and perused the rest of the store. Netcost has an amazing looking hot bar but I was kind of nervous to squeeze into the crowd to analyze or even grab stuff, like a (smoked) fish out of water, so I quickly took pictures and ran away. I noticed a lot of produce and food items were way cheaper than my local supermarket. I was able to get a full sized jar of sauerkraut and a jar of pickled garlic for an insanely affordable price. I also got a pack of borscht soup mix! I'm so excited to try, the instructions are fully in Russian but that's a challenge for another day. Once at the register I asked if I could be a member and the cashier mentioned I could scan a code on their flyer to sign up but she asked the old lady ahead of me if I could scan her member card--and she said yes! They were so nice, it really made the shopping experience that much better. I will definitely be back again and again. Also, their shopping carts have a break mechanism where you have to push the hand bar down in order to move. First time here today, store is not large but seems to have a bit of the standard fare and fairly different selection of European items that set it apart, since it is a Russian market. There are some interesting items, in particular I tried some of their sweets, some that may intrigue as mysterious, so there may be hits or misses. As for produce, get what looks descent and on sale to get better value. Otherwise, the only cons is that the store a is quick miss if you don't check the road, as the corner of the store and not the front with the name faces the road. Also, the parking is a tight fit and an odd smell of burnt tires overfilled the air around the area. Finally, their app does not seem to properly work if your want to sign up for a club savers card. read more

The worst store ever. The salad bar is frequently causing diarrhea. Recently purchased chicken liver there with the expiration date a week from the purchase date. Kept it in the fridge. Attempted to cook it, the liver was foul smelling and green!!! Attempted to return the item in good faith, was informed by manager that no return will be issued because i returned later than 24 hrs. So if i buy a rotten liver on friday while doing my weekly groceries and cook it on Sunday I can not return it ? Not even an apology. True Soviet store !!! Normally, I would give Netcost in Paramus a 5 star rating, but this morning shopping experience was very unpleasant, and honestly the owners should make a big change. The older woman at deli section was so rude and I am pretty sure she cursed me out in her native language. She should not be there, because she does not understand english. I ask her if there is low sodium meat and cheese and she has no idea what I am saying to her. Then I ask for slice cheese, and she directs me to pre-sliced cheese on side. But that cheese was sliced last week on 8/1/24 and today is 8/5/24. I explained I want fresh slice of cheese and she gives me a block of cheese. When I explained again, I want sliced. She rolled her eyes and spoke in another language towards my direction. I feel she should not be interacting with customers, and misrepresent Netcost. Her frustration is she does not understand me and she gets upset at me, cause she does not understand my language. Also why does Netcost not provide fresh sliced cheese? I would not but this again though, I could only guess how much filler is in it. I prefer this over the lamb lulya. Lamb lulya I can't get myself to like this. The meat is very fine and again, I can't be sure but I think there starch fillers as binding agent here so if you're avoiding gluten, don't get this. Hot smoked semza fish- 4 stars Yummy, not too salty like lox. Taste like salmon Duck- tasted really good, compared to the Chinese roasted duck. Very convenient spot and has such a fun and fresh variety of different foods to pick from.

I come here to shop every weekend. It is located in a very convenient spot by a few highways and a mall. There is a great selection of hot bar food and drinks. When I have family or friends over, I purchase dinner from the hot bar. There is a wide selection of salads, meats, fish etc. I cannot recommend this place enough if you want to find great Eastern European dishes. Netcost also has great typical supermarket offerings as well such as fruit and vegetables. Service here is great. It can get very crowded during the holiday season but all cash registers will be open. Only suggestion I have is for Netcost to have smaller carts for shoppers who shop in smaller quantities. Overall this is an excellent store and the hot bar needs to be visited. read more

A coworker mentioned Gourmanoff had opened a store in NJ. We decided to drop by and take a look around. Quite a different and good experience for us since we aren't very familiar with many Eastern European and Russian products. Every turn of the isle, it was - what is that, that looks good and let's get this! We didn't get to try the cooked food. Took many samples and bought pastry, tea and uncooked bacon. We took our time to discover in a great place to spend a afternoon and learn about the world. Will visit again and Gourmanoff gets a recommendation. read more

Another market showcasing Eastern European specialty foods -- part of a larger chain with roots in Brighton Beach Brooklyn. It feels like a Russian Whole Foods market -- showcases a bevy of take out prepared foods -- but does not offer a place to consume your purchases on site. The prepared foods look good but it would take quite some time to sample the 100 or so options here. Not crazy about steam tabled food that sits a long time -- especially if it's cream and mayo based -- like many things here. Pricing is all over the map and some of their packaged food has old born on dates (like the specialty coffee). Looks like they are rotating dated stock from their other stores -- at door buster prices. Make sure you check dates in this stuff -- especially if it's priced below market. If you like this sort of food than Gourmanoff should make you happy. It is the box store version of neighborhood markets like B & B and Amira in FairLawn We bought some frozen salmon roe (Peter Pan -- the best) and Davidoff limited edition coffee (old batch). Some of the staff (like the caviar lady) only speak Russian -- so buyer beware. Biggest Bummers: Location and access are awful -- traffic pattern in store is poorly conceived. Top tip: One stop shop to slake your Soviet soul food jones ... not sure there is anything this large outside Brighton Beach that can match up. read more

Oh boy, game changer for this area. My Dad would usually venture to South Brooklyn to stock up on Russian food (Net Cost Market, which happens to own this store as well). There is also a Russian store in Fair Lawn but it's pretty small. This store is very large. The selection isn't quite as comprehensive as the Net Cost Market in Sheepshead Bay but it was pretty damn good. Great deli/fish/meat section - you have all your fresh/smoked fish, your caviar, your meats. There's a great hot/cold foods bar. There's a bakery. There's a dumpling (pelmeni) case that goes by weight. There's a large produce area with plenty of organic options. There are frozen, dairy, and grocery sections with your traditional Russian options as well as some basics you can find at a regular grocery store. Oh and Kinder eggs! Prices are very reasonable here. You can get some things cheaper than at most grocery stores. Mangos: $0.79 each; avocados: 3 for $1.00. We came here the day after the grand opening. It was a Sunday and it was pretty packed. They had some generous free samples (bread, cold cuts, smoked fish, even caviar). The employees seemed pretty friendly. This is a nice surprise - Russian stores aren't exactly known for their friendly customer service. The parking lot is fairly small and considering how busy it was, it took us a little bit to wait for a spot to open up. I'm sure it's calmer on week days. Anyway, if you are Russian and like Russian groceries/food, you must come here. If you aren't, I'd definitely recommend branching out and checking out the staples of Russian traditional cuisine. read more

Dear Netcost, I would like to bring to your abstention an incident that took place today at Paramus store at about 10:30 am. Upon the enter into the store I noticed that there is no any hand sanitizing product available. I kindly asked a store manager to provide, and she did offer me a sanitizer to wipe the cart, but said they had none to put up in the front. Well, this was not true since there were a lot of products on the shelves. While checking out after 30 min, I asked the cashing to call the manager again to bring to her attention that there was still none. Well, the manager (she did not have a name tag and refused to introduce herself) of Hispanic origin started raising her voice and telling me that she does not have to listen to me and called the security. An non-gentlemen told me to leave the store and that "he is protecting the store from people like me";)) well, I just purchased stuff for over a $100;) funny right! I insisted on having a sanitizing products replenished and they offered me a wipe, but still refused to place any in the front of the store. Both of them were rude and had no idea HOW to talk to a customer... Netcost is had a great chance to be a successful store in Bergen County; however, not with this kind of costumer service. We were so excited when this place first opened what a fantastic store with great products and customer service. Then covid hit and it took a turn for the worst so much changed customer service now being the worst. My 80 year old father who would shop there weekly mostly on senior day was confronted rudely about his ID which he left in the car. He has a hard time walking and they made him walk all the way back to his car for it. He was so upset and vowed he wouldn't ever return again it's a loss all around. I can't think of a worse location that this place could have been at. One of the busiest sections of Route 4 in Paramus, on a hill, next to some kind of school. Good luck coming here on a Friday. Thousands of kids getting picked up while hundreds of cars try to cram their way into a tiny, cramped parking lot, while hundreds of other cars who have no idea how to drive try to merge onto Route 4. Wow. The food selection here is what you would expect for a Russian/Eastern European/Jewish market. Prices for some items are decent, and high for others. For general grocery shopping, stick to Trader Joe's. If you must get Russian items, save yourself the trouble and head to Broadway Food Palace in Fair Lawn. read more

Welcome back to Europe. NetCost is just like that. I stopped in to check it out and then left with some of the items I found. It was great. I found items from Germany, Austria, Poland, Israel, And Russia just to start. There were items from Italy, France, and beyond. This is not just a grocery store. This is visiting a store as you would find the items as if you went to a store in Europe. And, having lived in Europe for some time (as well as traveling there all the time), this is like what I would find there. You can find all the food you might want. There is bread, pastries, fish, meat, eggs, cheese, butter, jars of items that are unique to special areas you would have to travel to so you can visit it. We are going to visit every week and find items we can not see many other places. The variety is great. The prices are reasonable. What you can not see you can ask for. The Cold War ended 30 years but you'd Never know it when you step inside this place. All the employees look angry except for the token Spanish guy they had that used to work the fish department. English is the second language here for Boris The Butcher so don't Ask any questions! Make sure you leave plenty of time for check out because they usually only have two registers open at any given time and there is never an express checkout so you will wait and wait and wait. Furthermore, you'll get the angry look from the security guard that hangs out by the exit. If you long for what life was like living behind the Iron Curtain this place is perfect for you. But for Gods sake speed up the check out process, the immigrants that shop there are started to look just as angry as the employees! read more

What a store! And what an interesting shopping experience! This was our second time visiting this Russian market and it was as impressive as it was the first time. We entered the store at the produce section. Beautifully arranged vegetables and fruits are well stocked and displayed. From there we explored the canned goods section (a huge variety of pickled treats) and the sweets! The fresh cakes are beautiful. The assortment of cookies, wafers and candies is amazing! Gourmanoff is the first Russian/Eastern European supermarket in the area (at least as far as I know). Though it is certainly not the only Russian store in the area (neighboring town Fair Lawn is basically Little Russia), it is certainly the largest one that I have seen in my lifetime of living here. The product selection is really unparalleled and it's not only Eastern European goods that you'll find here. From what I noticed, most of the popular American brands are sold here as well. You might end up paying a little bit more for them here but I don't think it's significant enough to warrant going to multiple stores. Price-wise, it's very reasonable and the produce/meat/cheeses/etc all seemed super fresh. If you're ever looking to make a nice charcuterie board, I would highly recommend this being your one and only stop. As opposed to the smaller Russian stores in the area, this one can replace your trips to the regular supermarkets as well so in that sense, it really is a one-stop shop. I definitely think everyone should check it out at some point, just to see the kind of cool stuff that is out there that you may never have tried. Check out some of the prepared foods to get a taste the types of foods that we Russian grew up with, just like grandma made (I haven't actually tried it myself so that might not be an accurate statement but it sure looked good). read more

Incredible diversity in its product lines, from beautiful fresh produce, smoked fish display, butcher and fish counters, bakery with fabulous breads, cakes, and pastries, to hot and cold prepared foods. Picked up an assortment of dishes and desserts for family. Some were good, others were very good, and still others like an eggplant rollantini type dish stuffed with julienned carrots and shallots were superb. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.
