My nail girl suggested this store to me when I was curious to find an ingredient I needed for baking. She said there's an European store locally and should offer what I was looking for. Little did I know it was a decent size grocery store and didn't except the enjoyment I had just walking down each isle and viewing all these European products that you generally can't find in regular grocery stores. (I enjoy grocery and food shopping lol) One thing I also enjoyed is the selection of cooked food they offered. They had a large selection of hot food, cold sides, pickled dishes, baked goods, and soup! I came home and tried some pirogies, soup, and some cold appetizers. Will definitely come back! read more

If you are a senior citizen and you don't want to be LIED to, DO NOT SHOP AT NETCOST MARKET!!! I took my senior citizen mom to NetCost in December, right before the holidays. This is an important time of year when a lot of food is involved. From the caviar, the meats, the fish, desserts, and many, many other food items, we spent $700! This is a lot of money for any person to spend on groceries but especially a senior. The reason we went to netcost is because they've always offered a 10% senior citizen discount. On this shopping trip, we were asked for my mom's phone number (to confirm her account and age) and provided it both at the fish/caviar counter (you have to pay for it separately) and then again at the register. I asked the cashier if she was able to find my mom's account so we could get the 10% off (roughly $70), and I was told "yes." Once we were done shopping and were on our way out of the door, I noticed that the senior citizen discount was not applied to any of the receipts. I came back to speak to a manager and was told that she was out. I asked to return all of the merchandise and repurchase with the discount but was not allowed to do so because it would take too long. I was assisted by a very nice lady who called a customer service number and both the gentleman on the phone and the lady in the store ASSURED me that I will get a call from Steve and that my issue will be resolved. I did get a call from Steve. After an hour long conversation was told "there is nothing we can do, you shouldn't have left the store." I told him that this was a total bait-and-switch and asked to speak to his supervisor. He said that he is the head of the department and there is noone above him, he also said that I am not owed anything, and that they can change the policy at any time, as they please. I pleated with him to do something, give me a store credit, or anything! He finally said he would see what he could do but that I probably won't hear from him until the holidays were over. Now it's the end of March. I tried calling again and left messages. I guess I should have confirmed with him which holidays he was talking about, in which year. I have been a client of NetCost market for 12 years. It used to be a nice store. Now, not only are they extremely overpriced, but their service sucks. I didn't expect such a large chain to treat their clients (and especially the elderly) in such a terrible way. I did not want to write this post. I did not want to post this review. But NetCost Market and Steve left me no choice. I really hope there will be one decent employee who will do something. If not, they are doomed to fail. read more

Bought yesterday sturgeon caviar for NY dinner. Selected the most expensive option for $129. Great that we tried it before making caviare sandwiches - it had terrible taste of mould. Russian special policy, my friends! a management who's actually giving a hard time to their customers instead of helping, especially, if you want to return a new untouched item with a receipt. I bought a small expensive grill, which has some quality issues, so I wanted to return it for maybe an other item or a store credit. Well, first I was send to speak to a store manager #1, show the item, receipt and answer all the questions. She gave me customer service phone # and asked me to speak to an other manager #2, same situation with all the questions but no help. She, Anja, said she needs to speak to a manager #3, who's currently not there and after that they will call me back in 48 hours. 60 hours passed by, no calls no nothing. I called again, this time I finally got the answer, that they unfortunately have to follow their return policy of 48 hours, no returns after. 48 must be is their lucky number - no joke- it is for real. Doesn't management realize the number of negative reviews of the disrespectful woman in the deli? I am a positive, smiling l, please and thank you person who was shopping at 8:45 am. I was merely looking at deli items and did not ask for anything. The woman with the short hair said something to me, assumably in Russian. I said "good morning". Body language says it all and she exuded a negative attitude. I continued to look at the deli items and she confronted me, now speaking English, and said, NOT TILL 9 am in the most VENOMOUS and HATEFUL way. I have never been spoken to that hurtfully. I dared not to return to the deli, bought almost $100 of other goods. It should be noted I am a Netcost card holder and have always been treated like a human being in all my other transactions. read more

Great store. It's new, clean and very well stocked. This is a Russian chain so don't expect a supermarket like ShopRite and you won't be disappointed. They don't just carry Russian brands. You will find just about everything here. I bought chocolates from Poland, Pepsi from the US, coffee from Turkey....you get the idea. They pretty much have everything you can possibly need. There is a great hot buffet with carving station. A coffee/juice bar. A bakery, butcher, fish, deli counter and caviar counter. There is a small area to sit and eat in the front of the store. Make sure to sign up for their discount card. Don't get turned off if the employees speak to you in Russian, everyone speaks English too. read more

JUST WOW!! I love that this store is open, airy, clean the staff is friendly and helpful. Now, you do need to get a shopper card for discounts, you can easily do it on line, I did one previously but for some reason I never got the the little tag in the mail and when I went yesterday, non of my telephone numbers worked. Anyway the young lady at the register gave a quick swipe of a card and I was good. Anyway- about the shopping- there is a medium size seating area for lunch and I say this because they have a hot/cold food table that is OUT OF THIS WORLD! they have sausage, fish, separate salad bar area and soups area and I better not forget to mention that they have a pickled section that is insane, I love pickled everything and with whole pickled apples and watermelon UHH YAAA YESS PLEASE!! The fresh fruit and veggies are reasonable priced and I picked up a pack of Japanese Fuyu Persimmons there were 9 to the pack and I paid a little over $5.00 a great deal for these gems. On to the fish section, they have a smoked fish section and I think it was fantastic, I bought a small clam shell container of variety smoked fish and was very happy with my selection. They carry a variety of meats, as well as a rabbit, chicken, pork, duck etc.... I cannot stress enough that if you love chocolate and I mean love chocolate, you have to check out the candy section, I also love my carbs, so the bakery section has the most divine cakes packed and ready to go, for any occasion. I used email ordering during the heart of the pandemic (4/7/20) so I know the system is stressed, but they informed me that the order would be ready within 3 days-Tgey would call me to confirm a pick-up time. After the 6th day I had to call the store 6 times between 9am and 7:15pm. Finally they said to come pick it up but only 60% of the items were available. Despite the stress that I am sure the staff is under (and I do appreciate their efforts), they were very rude and indifferent. When the world gets back to (new) normal, I will not be a patron here. read more

This store has a huge selection of imported foods and prepared foods, especially eastern European, as well as the typical items you'd find in most supermarkets. The store is clean and very well stocked. Prices are decent. I have one complaint, however. The cash register system isn't always up to date and I've been charged the wrong amount on some sale items. They'll adjust the error if asked, but a bit begrugedly. Please get your act together and keep your system up to date on prices. read more

Okay Was informed of this place by a friend. Decided to check it out. Larger than expected. Nice lay out of store. Produce is exceptional, little on high side, bit quality is there. They have a HUGE HUGE salad and pre made food bars. Meats and poultry were reasonably cheap and quite nice looking. Deli and seafood were outstanding. I Was trying to figure out the nationality of the store and came to the conclusion that it's huge on Russian products with a mix of Polish and Mediterranean. Bakery looked amazing. The fresh home made breads made me want to go into carb overload, diet be damned. I wouldn't personally consider it an every day store but for the meat,produce, bakery and pre made salads and meals it scores in my book. They have a hot bar of ribs, grilled/bbq chicken, crepes, vegetarian options and other sorts. Definitely a place to check out you never know what you might find. read more

The staff was a bit unfriendly (no smiles) so an authentic Eastern European ambiance I found tvarog (both soft and hard types) which is great, and poppyseed pastries, but did not find any Czech food I recognized (like fruit dumplings or Czech/Austrian/German-style Knodel/knedliky in the frozen isle). I haven't been this excited about a Supermarket since H Mart opened in Edison so many years ago. NetCost Market is a Russian/ Eastern European chain that has several locations in Brooklyn,Staten Island, Philly and another opening soon in Paramus but I only found out about them last week even if the Manalapan branch has been open since last November. This is a bright ,slick operation that draws you in from the moment you step through the front door into the fruit/vegetable department with every selection top notch,attractively displayed and very fairly priced. I remember thinking that this department alone would put Delicious Orchards to shame. Several stations featuring fresh salads and fixings,pickles of every type and cold Eastern European salads such as egg,beet,smoked fish,stuffed peppers and aubergine stimulates all the senses. The 40 foot long prepared foods that line one wall is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds with every conceivable grilled and stuffed chicken,smoked and dill scented fish,kabobs of pork,lamb and chicken,rolled and stuffed pork loins,sausages of every type from the fat,pale knockwurst to some fiery red and spicy Polish Kielbasas. Pirogie's stuffed with cheese, caramelized onions,lamb,pork and even white fish. Borsch,rice,potato and beef/lamb savory salads,stuffed lobsters,crabs and shrimp...... It's all rather overwhelming in it's verity and freshness. Some of this stuff is not cheap but well worth it if you had to even attempt it's preparation. There is a large deli counter holding your usual selections but also a plethora of sausages both fresh and cured, a caviar counter.....Yep, you read correctly and a custom butcher with fresh rabbit and whole lamb. Every aisle hold oils,seasonings,sweets,staples and drinks that are not really familiar to the average American grocery shopper but still of top quality brands and selection. I especially love the aisle that held a large selection of bottled pickles,mushrooms and seasoned pepper pastes, The premium sodas,kambuchas, carbonated drinks, amazing coffee and espressos section where you can spend an hour just browsing and the candy by the kilo section that can put your kids in a sugar coma for a month....no "Reeses Pieces or Hershey's Kisses" here folks. The bakery is large and filled with fresh and hearty brown and grain breads,cakes and dainty pastries and in it's self worth the trip,the Ice cream freezers holds all sorts of unfamiliar treats from all over Europe and look out for the refrigerated section of fresh stuffed pastas. I could spend a full day in NetCost Market and not see everything but on advice from my friendly cashier, shop on week days because weekends are a nightmare with shoppers from all over New Jersey stocking up on their country's favorites. Went to this store few times since they opened. Every time I am being disappointed with the quality of food. Greasy, nasty, not tasty , old dry food. Today, I gave another chance, and the same experience as before. I bought blintzes with strawberries. Those were the most disgusting blintzes I ever had, and instead of strawberries, it was a smear of cherry jam inside. It was only 2 registers open, and it took me about 40 minutes to stay on line. The cashier was nasty as well. Actually, with my luck I always got nasty cashiers at that place. No more chances from me for this store. I paid $22.00 for food that went strait to garbage. While maybe not the cleanest supermarket, this supermarket was definitely spot on! The store is quite large, but it's not very easy to get lost! Everything is organized in every aisle, and you will be sure to find what you are looking for! The store is mostly Russian with Russian brands, but it does have pretty much so many food items from around the world! I found a lot of great exotic juices, and some great exotic produce as well! Certain items aren't super cheap, but mostly everything else is affordable! Wish this store was closer to me, because I really liked it! read more

I love this place. I've only been shopping here for the past five years, but it's still FUN to visit. I never thought I'd have fun at a grocery store. I'm Greek/German and I can find lots of stuff here that I can't find elsewhere. Their manager specials are so good, so keep an eye out for a bright orange sticker. This is a Russian store, so almost every employee speaks Russian. However, they speak English to me so I never have problems. Staff is friendly when approached, though they never approach ME (I honestly can't stand small talk, so I'm grateful when people just do their job and let me shop in peace). I go to Net Cost when I'm looking for a different salad that I won't find anywhere else. I'm not saying that I like everything that they carry, but it sure is different. The shrimp salad has a different taste than shrimp salad at any other supermarket. You owe it to yourself to go there and see what they carry. They also have little cup and plastic spoons that give you the ability to taste items you might find interesting so that you are not guessing that you might like it. On the negative side is the fact that the cups and spoons are not in plain site so that you have to ask for them. This can be a problem since frequently you may not be able to find anyone that speaks English. The meats that can be bought and prepared just by heating in your microwave allowing you to create meals that are just different than any other supermarket you can go into. The cost of these different meat and vegetable creations seems a little high but is to be expected since much of it may not be sold at the end of the day. The also carry types of fish that are not sold anywhere else. Bring your cellphone so that you can look up foods that you have never seen before. read more

Wow! We often satisfy our craving for Russian and Eastern European foods at the Netcost markets in Northeast Philadelphia. This new Netcost raises the bar even further. It is big and bright and clean - and huge! Dining tables for eating on site greet customers near the entrance. (What a great idea!) Many staff here speak English - so if one is timid about a language barrier, don't fret. Go. This past weekend, we celebrated Russian New Year with friends, and prefaced our party by visiting the Netcost with all five partygoers, as we surveyed the self-serve (and attended) hot foods bar and other stations. This is what we chose (apologies for any misspellings!) Basa Kabobs (deep fried fish in batter) - this was my favorite!!! Eggplant slices stuffed with garlicky cheese - mmmmmmmm! Stuffed peppers Kielbasa made with pork and chicken Cherry blini Apple pancakes Pelmeni (similar to tortellini) - two kinds - Siberian (meat) and another with chicken - which we topped with sour cream Mushrooms Julienne (creamed mushrooms) Salmon topped with a crab stuffing Chicken Kholodetz (shredded chicken in gelatin), which we topped with beet horseradish. Ohhhhhh! Shredded cheese salad Sliced smoked salmon and butterfish (ready packaged) Kiev cake from Kiev. What a wonderful party we had! I would be amiss not to mention that this store features freshly baked breads of many varieties, shelves and shelves of baked goods and sweets. Plus fresh fish, smoked fish, meats, dairy, lovely produce, and all the amenities of a supermarket. As folks of Eastern European and Russian descent, the Netcost stores are such a treat. We have been happily reunited with many of the foods of our childhood, plus so many other new tastes to explore. read more

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this place is stellar for my own purposes - those are really good deli (no Boar's Head yuck for me, please), good smoked fish in a large variety, russian carbonated beverages (far superior to local, albeit not cheap), good produce and really good dairy. Their breads and other bakery is also very good. Their marinated/brined/canned vegetables, fruits and salads selection is by far the best anywhere. Period. Service is also very efficient. If there is one thing I'm forced to find wrong with this store is that their hot buffet is chicken-crazy. Everything is chicken in a huge kaleidoscope of options, and I myself am a red meat gal, and am limited in my choices to mongolian beef, one or two porkchops, ribs and flank steak. Even their golubtsy (stuffed cabbage), a favorite dish of mine, are made with chicken - which to me, being of Russian/Ukranian heritage is sacrilage. I go to Emporium for those. Another fave are their soups - and I hate others' soups. Their Sbornaya Solyanka is the best I've had except for my own. Cold salad bar is to die for. Just pick anything. It's good. Their parking lot is somewhat wierd and they've not figured out an appropriate shopping cart situation - they're in a cart bank to the side, and often locked aside from the first to rows, so frequently one has to walk all the way to the end of the bay to get one. But everything else is so good, I can't even think of taking points off for that. read more

On my way home from this store, I admit I didn't like it and swore I'd rather go a little farther to the small Russian store further on highway 9. This store seemed too big and overwhelming, it has everything and nothing all at once. An example, I needed the dishwasher pods which they had in the brand I like but not the size I need or they had something I like but not a brand I'm use to. Then I got home and tried some of the prepared food and I swear it tastes like grandma made it! So my conclusion is, I can't make a list like I do when going to Whole Foods, but I'll definitely run in and just grab what I see and like when I have the time to stand in line. Yes, even on Tuesday midday there are lines since only 4 registers are open. The "express 10 item" line isn't express, but I can't really complain, like all Russians my cart had like 20 so I stood behind an older lady with 30 in the express line :P read more

The layout of the store is beautiful and it looks immaculate. Unfortunately, the young pimply cashier was so rude, I am hesitant to return. I am far from Russian, but in most stores in the area, the cashiers still say hello, and tell you the price of items. They don't mumble and then point to the number on the screen. They also say something like have a great day, thanks or simply goodbye. If the store only caters to certain ppl., they should put a sign on the door like no old people or no black people or no non Russians. First things first, I like the place since I can find most Turkish grocery items I need and also some other quality food. But when it comes to customer relations, they have a loooooong way to go. Almost all employees automatically assume that you're Russian and start speaking in Russian immediately. Then you have to state you're not Russian and they will continue in English. My latest experience was a total disappointment. On a busy saturday afternoon, you can expect the market to be busier than usual and longer lines at the registers. The express lanes are there for a reason. The two ladies in front of me just emptied a huge cart full of items onto the register belt. It was clearly stated that the lane was an express lane for 15 or less items. I patiently waited until Ms Tanya (who is also the manager to the registers area) completed the transaction and then I asked "this was meant to be an express lane, right?" Her response was worse than the incident itself. "I cannot count everybody's items" Excuse me? Do you have eyes and a judgment ability? You can clearly see those ladies had a cart load of items? Another reckless response: "I don't know I didn't see it" Fine. Instead of saying only 2 words: "I'm sorry" the manager of the registers area had just manage to perform the worst customer service experience in the store ever. Had several bad experiences with the deli department where I asked for one type of meat and was about to be given another. Also, they dont know or care when asked for the meat to be sliced a certain way. Or for the amount. Also, I caught meat packages mislabeled one time when I bought a pack of chicken and the label was priced for lamb. On my first visit last week, I was thrilled to see such unusual items. Supermarket shopping can be routine, so this was definitely fun. Pickle and sausage fans, you have found your happy place. I tried the grape leaves (not the best), blintzes (really good) and Siberian dumplings (I'm now hooked). I found the elusive "country-style" phyllo, which is thicker than the usual kind, which is the kind I like to use to make my husband a feta cheese Bulgarian specialty called banitsa. Stumbled into this place just looking to buy some milk while driving past that area, what an amazing surprise! The hot buffet was awesome. Hardest part was deciding what to eat, I wanted to try everything! Store was clean, the manager was super friendly, directing me to the under 10 items when I was certainly over, so I didn't have to wait. Had what was supposed to be tuna,,correction OLD tuna..it had such a bad taste. Shame on them for pushing tired, old end of the week tuna. Also had a shrimp tempura roll...the roll was so old, the tempura on the shrimp was HARD and the roll itself was DRY. So Disappointed! read more
