However, the staff was kind enough to still offer what they could. We also got the dry beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, and beef and mushrooms. And let me say that I've been missing comfort Chinese food, and this place over achieved. The staff were very kind and helpful and the place was very clean. This is definitely must try and tops any other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Irvine!

I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was when we arrived, especially since I remember this being one of the hardest places to get a reservation a few years ago. When we were first seated, our table felt a little cramped for the size of our party. We asked if we could move, and the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to select a more comfortable table on the other side of the restaurant. It's been a few years since my last visit, and my family usually comes here for weekend dim sum rather than dinner. From what I remember, the portions seemed a little smaller this time around, but the overall quality of the food wasn't bad. A few dishes were slightly saltier than I prefer, but the Peking duck and Braised Beef Stew Clay Pot were easily the highlights of the meal. Both were incredibly flavorful, and the meat was fall-apart tender. The service, however, felt a bit disorganized throughout the evening. There were several occasions where we had to flag someone down for extra napkins, utensils, and additional tableware. Not anything major, but it did take away from the overall dining experience. On the plus side, the prices were very reasonable considering how many people we were feeding. Overall, it's still a solid option if you're craving Chinese food, especially for larger groups.

Well, this sucks...and only partially because this place ended up closing just when I finally…read morefinished writing my review. While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

They have a beautifully simple menu that covers a great variety of dishes, ranging from dim sum to various noodle and rice options. The Beef Chow Fun was excellent. It had that classic, smoky wok hei flavor I was looking for. Highly recommend if you love chow fun. My friend ordered, The Capital Street Noodle, a dry noodle dish. It packed a ton of good flavor and came with a very generous amount of toppings. The Salt and Pepper Fried Fish was lovely. The batter was wonderfully light, and I really enjoyed the distinct peppery punch it had. Overall, everything we tried was hit. It's a solid, clean spot with great execution on classic flavors. I would totally come back here again whenever I'm looking for a quick bite!

There was a bit of a mixup initially with the business owners double-booking at another location on the same night, so they sent us here to their Rowland Heights location instead. The dining banquet area is vast and was able to comfortably fit around 150-200 guests. There was a small area for an open bar, photobooth, and backdrop where we were able to take photos with the newlyweds. Food wise, the restaurant had forgotten my special order (as nearly every Chinese banquet hall does), but they were able to take my order once seated. My plant-based meal was pretty good but nothing that sets it apart from other Chinese restaurants. I appreciate the ability to order a (hopefully) vegan meal while attending my friend's wedding. Parking is a bit confusing. There are some spaces claiming to be 2-hour parking while others are unmarked. If you're dining in for a special event, I'd err on the side of caution and find a longer-term parking spot.

We also ordered the tofu on the side which was addicting and so crispy-definitely reccomend ordering it! There's constantly carts going around so there's always food to try. Capital Seafood Restaurant opened at 11am; the wait was well worth it. All three of us loved it. There is a decent size dedicated parking lot just for the standalone restaurant, so was able to find easy parking. We were greeted immediately and directed to a circular booth, giving the three of us plenty of space. The inside space looked recently renovated, with a dedicated banquet room, and two dining hall wings. Hot complementary hot tea was brought for all, and ice water later when I specifically asked for it. Service was excellent throughout. The menu is a book, with the first two pages dedicated to a large lunch menu. Here it doesn't come with any additions (i.e. no soup or egg roll), but white rice is included and served family style. What it does have is a large selection (a whopping 53 different items), including some items I've never seen on a lunch before, all for $13.50. The menu is displayed on the first page (27 items) of the menu book, with the standard vegetarian, chicken, beef, or pork dishes. But by turning the page, one gets to another 26, this time mostly seafood. Many of the items caught by eye. L36 -Ship with Garlic Sauce - it came with big jumbo headless/shell-off shrimp, using a dark pungent sauce that I really liked. Vegetables were green and red peppers, red onions, and a lot of wood ear mushrooms (which I really like). It's a dish I would recommend, especially at this price point. L53 - Pan Fried Whole Fish - didn't really expect much from this, but asked the waitress what type of fish (was expecting tilapia or sway). When she answered 'flounder', I had to try it....and it was much, much better than I expected for the lunch price. It was a WHOLE expertly prepared flounder, with a crisp batter that I enjoyed, and a sweet delicate meat. It came with 2 sauces (soy based, sweet/sour), more for the batter. It was served immediately after it had been prepared. I really loved it, and felt it was a bargain for the price. 90- House Chow Mein HK style ($17) - a disk of deep fried chow mein, topped with a mixture of greens and different meats (including shrimp), in a lighter sauce. It was served immediately after preparation, which allowed us to choose if we want to eat the noodles while still crispy, or let the sauce soak in. Portions are not huge (even for the normal menu item like the pan fried noodles), but very appropriate for the prices. The three of us were able to finish our meal, with no need for take home containers. Soda is only provided from cans ($2.75 each) and I got a bottle of Tsingtao for $5. The check was brought to the table, with a 3% service charge for use of credit card. I enjoy doing a little research about the history of a restaurant like this. On a preliminary scan, there are multiple restaurants with the name of Capital Seafood in the LA/OC area: This location (with the original name of Capital Seafood, having domain of capitalseafoodgg.com) was founded in 1996 by immigrants from Cambodia, and recently was taken over by the original owner's son. There is a different restaurant (also named Capital Seafood, under the Capital Seafood Group in Irvine) running 3 Capital Noodle Bars in Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Brea, along with a Capital Seafood Restaurant in Irvine. This group seems to be related to Kim Tar (a SGV restaurant founded in 1982 in Monterey Park), signifying that they are using those original recipes in their restaurant. This location doesn't seem to be operated by that group, instead run as a separate restaurant. There is also a New Capital Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights, which doesn't seem to be operationally related to either one, though most likely branching off at some point. The only thing common seems to be the 'Capital' name (and the assumption that the owners/operators are probably related).

What stood out to me over the Capital Seafood in Irvine was the much friendlier service and the 90s R&B music in the background which was cool. Got the Lobster with house special sauce, Roasted duck with steam buns ($50), and Sautéed Pea sprouts veggies. * The lobster was definitely the star but just know the sauce is very buttery so may try a lighter sauce next time. Also still needed to crack some pieces so hands got really dirty (4/5) . * The duck was unfortunately too dry and tough and skin not so crispy so I will prob skip next time. But portion was good. Only thing it was freezing cold and they should prob drop the AC a few degrees. The white girl server was super nice and always checked on us. Overall good experience and will be back.

MY FELLOW YELPERS!! BEWARE of this FALSE advertising, unprofessional, con of a company!!!!…read more The most unprofessional BS- snake oil company I've ever dealt with!! Other reviews say the same! Nothing but stress and damage comes out of these guys. If you want to find your furniture broken and a liar as the owner (Joey), who is not insured, and makes false advertisement claims of his employees being trained for 6 months, and not get damaged furniture repaired, then this is the perfect company for you! They were over an hour late and I requested two strong guys. They sent me one guy that was ok and an obese chick that had no strength or experience! Their excuse for being late: Only one Budget rental truck available when they got there and the lift on it was squeaking. No call to update me AT ALL! I had a deadline to meet. I hopped on the phone with Joey prior to the move date and told him that his movers needed to be experience with disassembling my table because I won't be paying for them to learn and it's a difficult one, unless they had prior experience with this type of table and requested two very strong guys to carry the dresser down the staircase. Sent a list of items and pics prior to the move out date. They get there and the girl doesn't even have tape nor tape gun and she doesn't even know how to package boxes. They arrived with only three small sun damaged boxes that looked like they picked it up in the back of a supermarket on the floor, ZERO shrink wrap, ZERO wardrobe boxes like they advertised, ONE protective blanket, and VERY late. Joey arrived on location two hours after the scheduled time to bring a few wardrobe boxes but still no shrink wrap or additional blankets. Should've known he was a liar since he tried to make excuses that it's not their responsibility to bring it when it clearly states on their ad, quotes, and invoices. Because everything was already packed and they simply needed to load, it should have only taken roughly 1 hour to load at MAX. Instead they took over 3 hours to load because the truck wasn't the right size and the girl was inexperienced and useless. Joey Pineda might put up an overly nice guy act but you'll find out soon enough he's uneducated, unprofessional, and a con. They broke my mirror leg, scraped my $5000 bed set, broke my plants, broke my blinds, assembled my bed incorrectly and had to redo the entire assembly, and they dragged my $5,000 Stern's & Foster mattress on the EFFIN street!!! NONE OF my furniture was wrapped and protected except for two pieces. Found my broken plant bulbs the next day inside another pot where they tried to hide it and in the garage on other boxes. At first he said he would take care of everything but now he's trying to get crafty and figure out ways to weasel of out of this. I have dozens of text messages and emails with his response changing and now he doesn't want to pay for damages and tried to say I'm committing "Hard Fraud" when I have evidence to validate my claims! It was apparent to me that he was trying to buy time and he will continue to make up excuses. Now in a desperate effort he says that what I have done is called "Hard Fraud" and for me not to worry because he's not going to contact an attorney. LMFAO! First of all this is the most slanderous way to try to get out of having to cover damages. 2. He still hasn't sent me his insurance company name. If he was actually insured this would not be a problem and the insurance would handle this, not him right? 3. Now I see other reviews claiming the exact same issues that I have but the difference is that the damages done to my furniture is much more than theirs so he repaired theirs or refunded a small amount but not mine bc he's NOT INSURED PEOPLE!!! Do not be fooled by this company nor by Joey Pineda. I will provide all of the documents after I sue these conartists. Upon threat of a small claims, he ended up BLOWING up my phone on a Saturday but failed to text or call me every scheduled time prior that. I'm going to report him to the attorney general, the BBB, have his business investigated, and I'm going to sue him. Taxes - Let's see if he's compliant with labor code and correct tax filings. I will happily forward the step-by-step instructions for anyone who wants to get retribution for being screwed over. You can be entitled to more than the furniture damage. THUMBS UP on this review so we stop these scammers from taking advantage of anyone else!!

I still stand by my original post and NOT RECOMMEND the moving company to handle your valuables. Here comes the POSITIVE note: Daniel from Capital Movers was extremely helpful in communicating with me on a daily basis on the status of the repair process.
