    Lobster Mac and cheese
    Marina S.

Visited for a birthday celebration and I must say, the service is amazing. Our server went above and beyond to make our celebration special. We tried the tomahawk which was extremely juicy and tender. The lobster Mac and Cheese was absolutely delicious and creamy. We also tried their truffle Parmesan fries which had a really nice crunch to them. The passionfruit mojito and Paloma were perfect. Everything was delicious and every single staff member made us feel welcomed. Definitely a nice place for a special celebration, will be going back!

The service is good and the location is nice. The food is overly salted for my taste. From the spinach, potatoes, filet mignon, dry aged NY strip,... it was all exceptionally salty even when I asked for low to no salt each time I've been there. (I prefer different flavors, various seasonings, herbs and sauces). The drinks are good, as well as the flourless chocolate espresso cake.

High end sit down restaurant at the South Coast Plaza. Lots of business and more formal meals here. Can here with hubby and baby on a weekend and it was busy, but not packed. The service is top notch: staff constantly checks in to make sure all is good, the lunch menu is simple but efficient: burgers, sandwiches, salads...etc. we order their mini sandwich and classic burger, but we're decent. Truffle fries are a must! Good place to enjoy some nice ambience and good service with classic food.

We came to The Capital Grille and it never disappoints. It's one of those classic spots you can always count on for a great experience. We ordered the 36oz bone-in ribeye and it was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and definitely the star of the table. We also tried the lobster mac and cheese. It was good, but personally I would probably skip it next time and try something different. The asparagus was amazing, simple but done right. We also ordered a couple of mocktails that were refreshing and well balanced, which we really enjoyed. Service was great. Derek H. took really good care of us, attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel seamless. We requested a booth and they were able to accommodate us, which made it even better. Overall, this place continues to deliver. Great food, great service, and a classic ambiance that always makes it a solid choice.

Great spot for a date night, ordered the oysters the Paloma cocktail and the porcini crusted ribeye with the scalloped risotto. Our server was very friendly and they set up our table with a rose for our anniversary.

We were shopping in this mall, so we decided to stop by for dinner. The decor is dark and moody. It wasn't so busy, so we were seated right away. They brought out a variety of breads and crackers! We weren't too hungry, so we share the Parmesan truffle fries and a tomahawk. The steak was flavorful and fries were nicely seasoned. Service was attentive as well.

My husband and I have been celebrating our anniversary at Capital Grille for 12 yrs and service and quality have been the same. The staff always makes the day so memorable for us. We've been to other locations but this location is our go to since we traditionally do a little shopping first and end it with dinner. Our goal is to visit as many locations as possible. Food is amazing always! I go in thinking I'll try something different but I always order the rib eye and either the creamed corn, spinach, or lobster Mac and cheese. Recently, they added a caviar with chips and it's delicious. Off menu, a must order is the lobster bisque. You really can't go wrong with anything you order. I love this place and it holds a lot of memories for us. This place was our first date, where he proposed and where we celebrate every year.

My family and I have always been big fans of this restaurant, but unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing. I do want to start by saying that the service has consistently been great--our server today was friendly and attentive, and we really appreciate that. However, the quality of the food doesn't seem to be what it used to be. Today we ordered the 33 oz Wagyu Tomahawk for $185. The price itself isn't the issue, but the portion size definitely didn't seem to match what was advertised. We were told it would be more than enough for three people, but by the end each person only ended up with about two slices. The flavor was just okay, and after a similar experience during our last visit in January, we left feeling unsatisfied again. After spending around $500, we're honestly considering ordering DoorDash because we're still hungry. We used to really enjoy coming here, so it's disappointing to feel like things have gone downhill over the past couple of months. I hope the restaurant can address the portion and quality issues because we'd love to have the experience we used to enjoy.

Wagyu & wine special in the lounge

My wife and I met friends for dinner on Friday. We made reservations 6 days before on OpenTable for a table for 4 in the lounge. When we arrived, I was surprised the larger lounge tables were seated and that we were presented a 2 top with 2 additional settings and chairs. That really wasn't going to work and said as much to the young lady who tried to sweat us there. She made a comment and I remarked that we could just go downstairs for dinner. A minute later, another young lady appeared and asked if we would like to be seated in the dinning room. Though we love the feeling of the lounge, we accepted her offer. Tommie was our waiter in the dinning room and did I a superb job taking care of us. We opened with cocktails and ordered starters of calamari and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. The drinks and starters were absolutely delicious! We each ordered something different for the main course. Our friends went for the lobster tail special and Wagyu & Wine while my wife and I opted for the dinner filet, mine Oscar style. Each dish was delicious and very well presented. It seems that TCG has changed their version of Oscar style as our last couple visits it was served sans asparagus! I have always looked forward to that bit, not sure as why the change, to have the guest order a side of asparagus? When all said and done, we had a very enjoyable evening even though we missed our seating in the lounge.

The Capital Grille always has incredible service and goes above and beyond to make your celebratory moments in life feel extra special. We've been going for years and each visit feels like a great experience at a familiar friend's house (albeit a fancy friend haha). My repeat orders are: Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar - a very well balanced drink that's not too sweet and very easy to drink. Parmesan Truffle Fries: a must-order, although the recent addition of Duck Fat Fries definitely gives it a run for its money. Maine Lobster Salad: especially on warm days, this is such a refreshing and delicious option. Generous chunks of perfectly prepared lobster with avo, tomatoes, and arugula. Perfect! Lobster Mac N Cheese: although it's part of the dinner menu, I even order this when I'm there for lunch and The Capital Grille is kind enough to accommodate. A decadent and elevated version of Mac N Cheese and a must try if you love lobster. For entrees their steaks are always prepared accurately based on our requests and we love their high quality ingredients and attention to detail. Highly recommend visiting The Capital Grille the next time you want to celebrate or are just feeling like a special treat!

I've had the pleasure of dining here twice now and both times have been a phenomenal experience. The service here is top-notch. For dinner I came here with my husband to celebrate his birthday and we were served by Tiffany L. She made sure that we had an amazing experience from beginning to end. I hope she gets recognition for this! We started off with the caviar dip appetizer, which I think was fun to splurge on. I recommend trying the caviar alone to taste the caviar. Otherwise it does get lost in the dip. I ordered the scallop and lobster risotto as an entree whereas my husband ordered the seared tenderloin with lobster. We also ordered potatoes au gratin as a side. Everything was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection! We were so full. We did not have any room for dessert. however Tiffany did bring over a little birthday treat for my husband. I've had such a great time every time I come here. I look forward to many more!

Festively Attired Christmas Tree in Lobby
    Dennis T.

Diane and I treated four family members and the significant others of two of our grandchildren to a Christmas celebration dinner here two days before Christmas, and it was quite a feast. My goal was to order a cross-section of appetizers and side dishes for the table, and let everyone select their own entree and soup or salad if they desired one or both types of starters. So we began with two orders of Shrimp Cocktail, one order of Fried Calamari, four Cups of French Onion Soup, one Spinach Pear Salad and one Wedge Salad. The shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail were large and meaty; the Calamari golden and a little greasy; the onions in the French Onion Soup well caramelized and the broth covered by well-melted cheese. The two salads were large and featured fresh greens. Mains ranged from my order of medium-rare Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails to Honey Coated Double Cut Mint & Honey Lamb, with Bone In Kona Beef, Miso Butter Seabass, Sliced Filet, 10 oz. Filet Mignon, and Scallop and Lobster Risotto in between. My son raved about his lamb, and no one complained about their chosen entree, so I assumed that they each liked what they received. Choosing sides for the table, I ordered Grilled Asparagus, Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese, Truffle Fries, Roasted Mushrooms, and Potatoes Au Gratin. One might think that with two potato dishes already and one pasta side that sufficient starches had been ordered. But when I asked Diane if she wanted anything else, she asked for Sam's Mashed Potatoes as well. So that, too, was ordered, and there was precious little room left for bread and butter plates on our large circular table. I have long been a fan of The Capital Grille's Potatoes Au Gratin and Truffle Fries, and everything else I sampled was also well cooked and excellent in taste. Except for a complimentary dessert plate bestowed on one diner who was celebrating a December birthday, as full as we were everyone else passed on dessert. Service, too, by our principal server Michelle M. was smooth, quick, errorless, and very responsive. Understandably, this close to the winter holidays the capacious dining rooms were all packed with well-dressed diners, but the restaurant did not seem overcrowded, and its white linen tableclothed ambiance was upscale and classy. I will surely return, but next time with fewer people in my party.

We love sitting at bars in most restaurants because for hr vibe. We are going to Capital grille before the symphony. Will be dressed up... trying to decide if the bar seating or standard seating will be better…

    Do they have outdoor dining?

No, they do not have outdoor dining Megan.

    How much is corkage fee?

    $40.00 corkage fee

Is it possible to order the creamed corn at lunch time or is it a dinner-only item?

You can order it at any time

    Is there a dress code?

No, not a formal written one. But the wait and service staff dress fairly nicely. Semi-formal California casual dress clothes should suffice.

Are we allowed to order from dinner menu during lunch time? Thank you!

I don't have an actual answer, but I don't think it matters because the lunch menu is VERY extensive. And fabulous! (I just wish they opened earlier, like 9 or 10am.)

    Is there a dress code?

Not that I am aware of as king as you pay after the meal service :)... I say, looking sharp is always better in life and life is short so better look good !

Hi, Do you have happy hour?

    No. And they never will

    Is there a corkage fee?

    Yes it's $40.00

No one seems to answer or know…what is the corkage fee?

    $25

Reservations are highly recommended for dinner service. This place is popular. Arriving early for lunch, you may not need reservations.

What is the corkage fee per bottle of wine?

    $25

Do you have a dance floor for parties?

    No dance floor

    Is this joint outdoor seating?

No, they're on the 2nd floor on top of Seasons 52

Hello. Is a kids menu offered for dinner service r for children?

They actually will compliment your child or a special diet. They made my daughter(12) a vegetarian meal and although my son(7) didn't utilize it they offered him a very kid friendly meal. I do agree it's not necessarily a family friendly atmosphere…

Is there news on when the location for downtown Los Angeles will open?

Thank you for the question and excitement, T.B! We hope to open our new Downtown LA location early…

Is patio seating or dine in?

    Patio

Hi this will be our first time dining here what is the attire?

It's a casual steakhouse, as far as I can tell they do not have a formal dress code. I've seen people in sweats and I've seen people in full suits. So wear whatever gives you more room for steak 😊

Are you open for dine in?

Yes, we are, Tamlyn. You may review our up-to-the-minute availability and make a reservation by visiting: https://www.thecapitalgrille.com/reservations…

    Is porterhouse enough for two?

Absolutely. My husband and I have shared it many times. They will cut and plate it nicely for you to share on two separate plates. It's both the strip and bone-in filet. They charge the same amount for a bone-in filet, which is the exact same thing…

I come here at least once a year for my birthday because the staff are genuinely warm and make every guest feel special. They clearly care deeply about hospitality and creating a true culinary experience. Honestly, the entire team is top-notch, but on our most recent visit, Kara took especially great care of us. She remembered our preferences, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without needing to ask, and made my birthday feel special while also giving my husband and me space (I dislike when wait staff at smaller restaurants hover - they don't do that at all). The way the staff serves, takes orders, clears, etc. is like a really well-rehearsed dance - they want everything to be paced, smooth, and efficient (without feeling forced or robotic) and it really makes a difference. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, with thoughtful attention put into every detail of the flavor profile and color palette. They NEVER miss. I love how they refresh the menu a few times during the year to showcase seasonal ingredients while still staying true to the restaurant's overall identity. They also have a selection of dining experiences - I always go for the 3 course prefix during lunch and the portion sizes and timing of each course is perfect. Also highly recommend their afternoon tea on Saturdays. Couldn't find a more luxurious afternoon tea experience in OC! I genuinely hope they continue to do well! It's a pleasure to be a guest and feel pampered for a special day or an elevated casual meal with friends/family. Will be back many times in the future!

The salad was so good that I asked for an extra side of it! Charred Cabbage - so fun. I love the recent trend of charred cabbage, and this one was smoky and saucy. Zucchini Bread - I am so happy to see their zucchini bread as a staple menu item. I get it as dessert every time that I am here. It is the PERFECT bread. I also got their focaccia, but nothing too special to write about. Go for their zucchini bread if you want bread.

Came to celebrate my birthday here. They recommended 2-3 dishes per person as portions are small…read more Best to come with a larger group of people if you want to try more dishes. We got the hamachi crudo, Wagyu tartare, scrambled egg agnolotti, the burger, pork tomahawk, and the focaccia. Everything was delicious. The only dish that fell flat for me personally was the pork tomahawk, one side was extremely fatty and the other side was really dry. The staff did ask if they could offer me something else or get some kind of different sauce for the dish but I didn't want to be a bother so we did keep the dish. The burger was great to try once, but I wouldn't get it again as it was really messy and the buns were really soggy due to it resting in the sauces. The highlight was the scrambled egg agnolotti, it had a really good depth of flavor without being overwhelmingly eggy. They also gave me dessert on the house which was lovely of them. I got the semifreddo and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The yogurt was creamy and the strawberry granita were super refreshing and light. I also loved the cornflakes on top which added as nice crunch to every bite. They have a rotating menu so I'm excited to try what else they got in the future!
