Capital Noodle Bar was so good and I can't believe I was missing out. We got the spicy garlic wings, bbq pork bun, crispy hainan chicken, and pad see ew. I loved the spicy garlic wings. It was so crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside. The chicken was served hot and I couldn't stop eating it even though I was so full. The pad see ew is also delicious. It's a bit spicy but I love that extra kick. The hainan chicken bbq pork bun was so good too. I would highly recommend coming here if you ever crave Chinese food. They have so many different options.

Omg!!! Truly a beautiful fantastic story of love passion and devotion to making the best Hong Kong Kowloon Chinese cuisine ever here in America. They got a very special dish that will flip over your taste buds and melt your cold fickle heart with their delicious tantalizing sweet decadence of snow Mountain Dew dessert. For only $9.99 dollars you too can be blown away by the amazing taste and texture and beauty of this fine dish and simmering heat outside of 90 degrees on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Enjoy your time here and bring your favorite music from Andrea Bocelli 20th Anniversary edition remastered, the beautiful majesty and grace of love. Now come down the mountain of heaven and devour the most glorious handmade noodles with Lobster and spicy garlic sauce. Fresh from the sea and ready for your afternoon enjoyment and pleasure. Sipping on the hot chicken soup broth on the side with a little cup of white rice to balance everything with perfect flavor and happiness. Please enjoy and be patient because good food takes time to make fresh to order and this is a beautiful busy area on Saturday afternoon especially with the added heat outside. Thank you for your time and love. God bless America. Living the dream one bite at a time. Enjoy the journey and sunshine today.

My daughter and I absolutely love this place. The service was excellent, and every dish we've ordered has been delicious. We ordered the dim sum, and it was outstanding. The portions were generous, the flavors were rich, and everything was very filling. Thank you to our server for the great recommendations and attentive service. What impressed me the most was the strong sense of teamwork. The staff supports one another in every aspect from greeting guests and delivering food to refilling drinks and checking on tables. The prices are a bit higher compared to nearby dim sum spots, which are traditionally considered humble comfort food breakfasts. However, the overall experience was very good and well worth it. Ambience : Cozy, with decor that strongly reflects Chinese culture. Vegetarian friendly: Highly recommended for vegetarians, with a dedicated vegetarian menu section available. Parking: Plenty of parking when I visited.

I think they're trying to be more like the main restaurant with the expanded menu. They had a family set which came with hot and sour soup, HWS, kung pao chicken, garlic boy choy and rice. Good deal and very filling. Had to get the wings like always but I think they changed the batter and it honestly is ok now

Capital Noodles Bar, Costa Mesa, has several other locations through OC/LA. The restaurant dishes reminds me so much of my grandma's HK-style cooking -- especially when it comes to the wonton noodle soup. What I really love is that they let you choose your noodles, and yes, they have the thick egg noodles -- which is becoming less common options in restaurants. The noodles are chewy and springy exactly how I like them. The wontons are solid too -- classic pork and shrimp fillings. To top it off, this noodle dish is a lunch special item so $12 for a big generous bowl. Win!! Beyond the soup, the menu is stacked -- including common dim sum dishes including my favorite chicken feet and rocket fried shrimps! We ordered several more dishes for family style sharing : stir-fry green beans (simple but good) , beef twice fried noodles (skip it), spicy wontons (very good). Perhaps we should have asked for a round table with a lazy Susan instead of the long booth -- it would've made sharing a bit easier. Then again, the chicken feet and spicy wontons were in front of me so no sharing needed!!! Overall, portions size are generous (not huge as I would like), the space is clean and casual, and service is usually friendly and quick. For Friday, do come by 12:30, for best service as other patrons starts to pile in. My only quirky remark was that my eyes keep getting drawn to those hanging red lanterns creeps me out a bit. Eeek.

HUGE portion for $18! Enough for two! It was good but not enough of the noodles. Too much of the sauce. They didn't skimp on the veggies but wider plate, made the food flatter so less they had to top it off. Meal comes with chili, jalapeños and soy sauce on the side. Waitress was great! Friendly and nice! Went on Tuesday afternoon for lunch! Ambiance was great, pretty large location and you can sit anywhere you'd like. It started getting busier closer to 1pm, the rush, but hard working staff

    Dim Sum Daddy (10 pieces)

Delicious and flavorful dishes and shareable portions too. The seafood fried rice was full of flavor as was the Singapore vermicelli noodles. Both were really good and I was glad to have leftovers for the next day. The Dim Sum Daddy (10 pieces) were alright. Definitely huge baos though. Next time, I'd like to get their house lobster dish. The servers were nice and efficient. We came for dinner after 5:30pm on a Saturday and we were probably the 3rd table filled. Then the restaurant steadily had more customers coming in as the evening progressed. This is definitely the spot for flavorful Asian dishes!

We always enjoy the food here. Everything is flavorful! Today we got the spicy garlic wings, spicy fried rice with sausage, and chicken feet. All taste so good and hit the spot! They attend to you right when you walk in throughout your meal, the servers are very attentive. The place always look clean and a little cozy.

    Hainan Chicken from 8/15/25
    Cindy N.

Customer Service & Food has really changed. The owner/manager can care less about your experience and was a total jerk too. Has anyone noticed the difference from the pictures posted from a year or more to what was served last year? And the taste is t the same. Hainan Chicken from August 15, 2025. Check out older photos and you'll see the difference in portions not to mention flavor. What really turned me off from coming back I was the owner/manager.

Bug in my food from unwashed bok choy.
    Beth T.

We used to eat here frequently but the quality has gone down drastically, culminating in a door dash I ordered 2 weeks ago that had a literal insect in it. As I began eating I noticed the bok choy looked unwashed, as I was picking around trying to decide if it was safe to wash I found what looked like a maggot that had been fried with the beef and immediately my appetite was gone. DoorDash did refund me, but this is so gross. I've attached a photo, and I will literally never eat here again.

    Lobster feast! Want some?

Well worth for a lobster feast on a Friday night for us! Service from Celeste was excellent! The clean and cool atmosphere was the right ambiance for us. Definitely going back for this lobster special that won't last long! Get your claws on it soon!

    Chicken congee
    Kaylee L.

The Hainan Chicken is pretty good and the rice was pretty flavorful. It came with some pickled veggies which I didn't care too much about. The only complaint would be not enough chicken to match the portion of rice. I got the chicken congee but I was really craving the thousand year old egg congee, which 99 Ranch used to have but no longer sells. I decided to give the chicken congee a try. At first it seemed a bit bland and then I realized the shredded chicken pieces were at the bottom but there wasn't a lot of it. I am glad I got the Spicy wontons which was a good pairing with the congee. I might return to order other menu items such as the noodles.

What kind of cooking oil is used?

Thank you for your question! We use soybean salad oil in our cooking. If you have any other questions or dietary concerns, feel free to let us know.

I tried to call to order take out but the number doesn't work. How to order take out from this place after OC order no dine in?

I called +1 657-231-6120 and they are open and offering 10% discount on takeout orders. Enjoy!

    Do they take reservations?

For large parties of 8 or more.

Why they close at 9:30 when the time shows they close at 10 pm?

I asked one of the employees there and he said Sunday-Thursday they open until 9 but last call for the kitchen is 8:30. If you come in before 8:30 you can order and enjoy your meal until 9. Sat & Fri they close at 10 so last call is 9:30

If I go for lunch at 1pm on a Saturday, will there be a long wait for a party of 4? I have never been and don't know the parking situation either.

Parking here is a huge mess; even with valet. Seating is not an issue; finding parking could be the deterrent.

This place has been my go to favorite Dim sum spot in OC since I was a kid. I've noticed many Dim Sum spots in OC just aren't good. No offense lol. There something about the seasoning and portion size that hits. Hargow - big shrimp filled Hargow. Big pieces. The dough is perfectly thin. Shumai- my favorite ! Super big pieces filled with pork and shrimp. A must order Chicken Feet - perfect Tang and chew to start your Dim Sum experience. Good for the collagen! Very flavorful. Shrimp Rice Paper - my favorite over the beef one. The shrimp was nice and big. The sweet soy sauce was perfect match. I wish it was a bit more umami compared to ones I get in NY. Pork and Chive Dumpling - it was okay. Didn't have any opinion. Taro Cake - pretty decent. Nice crisp and super soft and mellow inside. Would get this again!! BBQ Pork Buns - my favorite! Super chunky pork and not overly sweet. Baked to perfection! Beef in steamed rice paper rolls - this was okay. I felt like the beef lacked the flavor versus shrimp.

The service is good. They use a menu ordering system rather than the traditional carts rolling around, and I have to admit I miss the carts. There's something fun about the serendipity of seeing a dish go by, pointing at it, and trying something new. I also enjoy having a wide variety of options available. They did bring around a few plates to offer, which was a nice touch. I do have one major complaint: they list siu mai on the menu, but it really isn't siu mai. Traditional siu mai has a thin wrapper around the filling, while what they serve is essentially a ball of filling. I ordered the shrimp and mushroom version, but it was basically a shrimp ball topped with a shiitake mushroom. The individual dim sum pieces are larger than average, which is nice, but it also makes them easier to prepare and doesn't necessarily justify the very high prices. In fact, I think this may be one of the most expensive dim sum restaurants I've been to. When you're averaging more than $10 for three pieces of dim sum per dish, it becomes too expensive for a regular visit. That said, as an occasional treat, it's still a nice place to come.

That had my name already on their waitlist kiosk when I walked in. Salvador was our server and he was simply amazing! Very professional and courteous. We decided on a pot of chrysanthemum tea while we browsed their menu with beautiful pictures that helped me easily locate the Steamed Jiaozi Combo and identified the stuffing for each color. The interior is very nice. I also like the place settings with a nice sized bowl for sauces. I also enjoyed watching them make the dumplings. There were 4 people: one to portion the dough, one to roll out the dough into perfect circles, one to fill and make the dumplings, and one to steam the dumplings. Quite an operation! We decided to order: * Steamed Jiaozi Combo - 2 orders because there were 4 of us and we wanted to try all the dumplings but also share. The white dumpling was shrimp and scallop. Since I'm allergic to shellfish, I skipped that one. Salvador made note of my allergy and to be sure to point out any dishes that might have shellfish. (What a guy!) This is a good way to try most of their dumplings. I didn't really have a favorite. They were all good. I do like their sauce choices on the table so you can mix your own in your saucer and personalize your spice level. * Brussels Sprouts w/ Seasoned Dressing - This was so good!! The sprouts were cooked perfectly and the dressing was nothing I've had before. So flavorful and well-balanced. * Chicken Chow Mein - looks simple but it was so delicious! * Plums Braised Pork Belly - tender and flavorful. This was probably my favorite dish from everything we ordered. * Stir-Fried Green Beans w/ XO Sauce - the beans were crisp and the sauce was perfect. We ordered 3 desserts because we couldn't decide: * Black Sesame Steamed Jiaozi - yummy black sesame flavor. I've never had it in a dumpling. * Fried Rice Cakes - Ooey, gooey and heaven for your tastebuds especially if you love condensed milk. * Italian Ice Cream with Kumquat Sauce - Ohemgeee!!! Can we talk about that kumquat sauce? That was the perfect flavor to complement the ice cream. As I write this review, I realize that there were so many dishes I wish I tried. I need to come back!!
