This shout out goes to William C who was on duty after hours in the AM of 2/17/2021. Apparently ruptured pipes caused a fire alarm trip in the wee hours that brought sleepy residents out into an unprecedented winter storm. I am visiting someone at the complex and was wanting an update on what was going on. I called the after hours number and left a message. When I got the call back (I've been at apartments who don't call back) he was more than helpful. Despite being late and bitterly cold he had a great attitude and provided details on what the problem was and the steps that were being done to resolve and offer options in case things took a turn for the worse. Once cleared to go back in I felt confident things would resolve quickly and felt happy to know he was working hard for us patrolling the rest of the night in the snow to assure no other issues arose. He was so friendly and he conveyed a genuine care about the service he provides... and those types of things really stand out to residents. Your complex should be lucky to have someone on board like William taking care of things with such a great attitude when things get rough and we need after hours care. You ROCK WILLIAM!

The first thing that struck me was the note on the door when I moved in "To someone special: you are very loved by God!" The residents all look out for each other and we have a lot of fun. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. There was an issue with the AC when I moved in, and within 20 minutes they had put in a portable AC, while they tended to the main AC, and the portable is VERY cold!!! And a couple of minor things they fixed within 15 minutes of my pointing it out. The manager is working with me so that I can start doing movie nights on Friday nights plus other new activities that I can offer. The pet friendliness is amazing too...so many cool dogs and cats around here! There's a great on-site laundry room with high end Speed Queen machines. And oh yeah, ALL APARTMENTS ARE ALL INDOORS with all doors locked after hours. There's a HUGE full size kitchen on the 3rd floor with tables and chairs if you want to have a family event. There's a country store with supplies and basic food if you run out and don't want to run to the grocery store. There's a beauty salon, a puzzle room, a reading library and more! There's also a calendar FULL of daily activities. The location is very quiet, yet just down the road from stores, restaurants etc. I used to do monthly music shows here 20 years ago and fell in love with the place back then, but I wasn't old enough to live here at the time. I always though to myself, "I would *love* to live here!" And now I am! My friends, and my son, all are very happy for me! I don't know who that "J T." twit is who left the negative review, but I suspect he works with a competitor, isn't taking his meds, or is just a miserable person, because he is way wrong about this place. Very happy with the unit, amenities, and staff here at The Monarch. They're are readily available to assess and address any concerns that their residents may have. With so many new changes with moving into a new city, I am so glad that my place of living is one where I know there's management I can count on. I lived here for about a year before making the decision to move out of state. It's just location…read moreand I would not consider these apartments to be luxury but they are well-managed. Several of my appliances (ac switch), lights, and fixtures (knobs) broke within 3 months of move-in. The maintenance staff are very kind however they seemed to be short staffed (there only seemed to be two) and low on supplies because the most of the replacement items were clearly from other vacant units since they had a short life. I ended up doing some repairs myself. Also they only fixed major items and seemed to bypass smaller ones. I suspect that's why the lights in my apartment went out fast because they were hand-me downs. If you are noise sensitive, as I found out, only rent from the center building because the train comes through pretty often and it's often loud enough to vibrate the eastern buildings at night and insulation isn't that good. The rent increase for the next year was around $100 on top of the additional monthly fees. The leasing consultant also did not tell me that the washing/drying units were not apart of the rental and would be $40 extra per month right until I was there to sign. When I first toured the apartment they were there and it said w/d on the site listing. This apartment complex charges a lot upon move out as well like wall marks and they even claimed painting inconsistencies were damage. The office staff were nice but the move-in/move-out just left a bad impression. The grounds are kept pretty clean and so is the clubhouse area which is nice. The parking garage is also spacious and there aren't any ridiculous parking policies surprisingly. If you are on the younger end or just more outgoing side, just know that it's not really that vibrant of a community despite being on west 7th. Might be a plus for some. If I could've done it again I would have rented closer to southside.

I've moved out from all my previous apartments across the country and have never charged more than $100 before - Although I have missed something, even if I double-checked, there's no way I left a bag of trash inside. I had a negative living experience here. The external fan could be very noisy, I would advise double check if there are any external fans, especially if you choose the first floor. I have multiple outside my window, and I had to move my bed to living room for weeks, the maintenance is quick to respond, but after two fixes, the noise is still evident. We realized two weeks before we move in and two weeks after we were accepted that we had not received a lease agreement to sign so we called and asked for the lease agreement. They informed us that they would send it to us by the end of the day. Three days went by and no update until the end of the day on Friday at 4:45-4:50 that we were over income and we could no longer live here. For the past week now we have emailed them asking for a simple written email explaining why we were denied and the date we would be refunded. We were told over the phone that we would receive the application fee and the move in fees as well. Over the week we have not received any reply to the email or have been told it will be sent either "by end of the day or tomorrow for sure" and neither have been true. This has put us in a bad spot because we need the money that we put into the move in fees and application to apply for other housing and move in fees. As well as finding somewhere else to live in a limited timeframe. I would not recommend this community at all considering how well the front office and management is at getting back with its future residents and sending essential paper work. We were really excited to move in and now it's a nightmare trying to get assurance that we will be refunded and an email detailing when and the amount we will get refunded.

I suggest they train staff to make this clear before encouraging applications and wasting peoples time. This was only after we paid for an application and took of work multiple times to complete paper work. Some staff were nice while others had a lot of attitude when asked for updates or general questions (to make sure e everything was in order). Not once did the manager or staff look at our initial application and tell us that they had switched to operating solely for attainable housing. They were several items they did not tell us to fill out paperwork until I asked about them. They ask us to fill in compliance paper work even through we made above AMI. They would have waited who knows how long if we had not ask what the next steps are. Terrible communication unless prompted. They required that we come in the middle of work day to complete compliance paper work. We were very excited and optimistic until the end. The staff attitude and training needs to be improved. The establishment is likely to go down hill with new management. We had friends that live in community and it seemed great and always had good things to say. Unfortunately the new change in management in October will likely ruin such a great community. Since they are limiting essential housing they pushing out potential tenants that could strengthen the diversity of community.

He was very sweet and very helpful and also explained to me why the things were the way they were. Which I had no clue of but so greatful he let me know that.
