I saw BLP kosher and it was a very good concert, I liked the stage and ambiance. The only thing i'd say is that they say no smoking yet the whole venue smelled like weed. The security was very nice and welcoming. read more

I really enjoy Neumos! I went for a Hip-Hop benefit concert and had a blast here. The sound throughout the venue is great. The lighting on stage is spectacular and they have a nice upstairs area. I went to an all ages show that had the upstairs for 21+. Downstairs no alcohol was allowed, which was kind of a bummer but I did find a nice spot to watch the show by the rail. Drink prices were reasonable. It was a sold out show, but there was still plenty of room to move around and find a good area to watch the performances. Nemos is located on Capitol Hill. A smaller venue named Barboza can be found underneath Neumos. I definitely will be back here! Staff were friendly and it was quick to get in and out of the venue, which is always great. read more

Saw Broods, it was awesome. No Neumos doesn't have seating unless the upstairs is open, (don't understand why that's expected) but you're able to be right in front of who you came to see. I was able to see the entire show and got to high five the artist twice. It was a great show and i love intimate venues like that, they make for really cool opportunities/experiences. Staff is great if u follow the rules, much like any venue. apparently people don't understand that drinking out on the street isn't allowed here lol (this isnt vegas this is WA) so no they wont let you in, sorry kiddos. read more

Place is just dirty, you can tell they don't clean or take pride in the space. There is dust that looks like it hasn't been touched in 10 years. Super hard to get anywhere, bar or bathroom (disaster), when it's packed. Literally can't move. Bartender was nice but drinks sucked (my beer was warm), security is extremely rude and pushy. Waiting in line outside is horrible as they take as poor care inside this place as outside. Human waste, garbage, and pools of water on a rainy day dot the landscape. No attempt by management to clean. You would think they would pressure wash before a big show, knowing people have to wait in that mess. Bad, lazy, and cheap management is clearly the issue here. I wouldn't want my kids here, nor take my friends, especially with how much they charge, that's the biggest problem. They charge like it is this top notch spot and well taken care of. Neumos is a underrated place, I could say that I've seen a handful of bands. (That was the bands name. Lol. [Its believable]) ._. But why 3 stars tho?? ._. Welp, strap on to your hiking backpacks to *boomingly god voice* "REVIEW MOUNTAIN!" (*someone in the back saying "didnt someone die there."* shhh... ) Atmosphere: It's small, it's a smaller venue. (But not small stage like el corazon. You literal feel like a sardine in a can there! ._.) Theres two floors to view the stage. One at top (for the raging alcoholic people go and look down on the young with jealousy of the youth days!!! ... just me. Ok. O.O) it's been renovated and everything to the top is new. (Feels new.) The classy touch is the beer in ground. Looking down at the stage is limited view due to speakers blocking the stage. (Which they accommodated with tv screens of the stage throughout the bar. Now no longer be blinded by the giant speaker!! ._. The common neumos enemy.) Bathroom are gender neutral, but by god they didnt renovate that part. Get ready to hold it in. The bathrooms can be described as the back alley streets of the worst parts of Gotham city. (And somehow if you close your eyes.. you hear the distinct crying of an 8 year old boy losing his parents. ._.) Staff/Security: Is pretty friendly and never had a problem with them. Some just look like they want to get done with there shift and leave. (I wouldnt blame them. That's me on a daily basis.) Security is pretty loose and and relaxed but overall they do intervene if things get hairy. (Which that's the weirdest expression I ever heard. ._. Why hair?? The world may never know.) Sound/lighting: The sound is pretty good. I've had not had a problem. The speakers dont over power the room and you dont get that obnoxious feed back. (Like an over used speaker in a car.. while blasting rap music at 3 am in the morning. Who does that?!?! Crazy dumb people that dont have jobs.) I could say the atmosphere and light set up has never been issue and pretty subtle. Conclusion: Do you love the sudden trap underneath your shoes to not being able to move because someone named Ashley was too drunk to compose herself before the last band? A good selection of bands playing in a venue, good staff and ok security, great sound (that your grandma wouldnt approve of, and the most ghastly bathrooms you could ever want to place your two fluffy cushions on? Welp, come on down and grab a beer and let's wait for the next band play. read more

Neumos - Yay Boston Manor is next and after Movements ._. Who's ready?!?! - Music Venues Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Neumo's does two things really well, and they're both prerequisites to a good experience at a live venue: they have a great-sounding P.A. system, and they don't waste money on inessentials. First, the sound. Neumo's has probably the best sound in town for venues this size, which, as far as rock and roll is concerned, means they pretty much have the best sound in town, period. They buy decent equipment from front to back and they put people in place who know how to run it. Even at really loud shows I am often tempted to go without earplugs just to enjoy it, and I pretty much never do that. Second, the inessentials. They hire staff that's nice enough and capable, and they keep the drinks at the right temperature, but, other than that, you don't look around and see a lot of flash cash wasted on silly decorations and trendy furniture. They put in the least breakable stuff they can afford and slap a couple coats of cheap oil paint on everything, and they're done. They generally put up a show at a reasonable price and you can't ask for much more than that. Other important stuff: Bookings. They tend to book a lot of bands I want to see, and that'll boost anyone's own opinion of a place. The bands often come back again and again, which is a good sign. They book a good mix of little bands that are still touring after years in the business, up and comers, locals, a few oddballs. For me personally, I trust their bookings enough to take tips on bands from their mailing list. Community involvement. Fairly regularly, you see Neumo's owners and management speaking up in the press and elsewhere about supporting the music and nightlife communities. Nice. Personally, I don't really get knocking mosh pits as a problem with the VENUE. That's the band and the crowd 100%. You book bands that inspire pits, you tend to tell your bouncers to let 'em slam. That's kind of a given. Yeah, it's worth noting that mosh pits happen at some clubs, and maybe some people go to certain places just to mosh, but...stand in the back or go upstairs if it bugs you that much. Or take a hard look at your musical tasts, I dunno. In any case, it's definitely not a venue issue. Kind of a rabbit warren inside, and, as implied above, not fancily decorated at all. And yeah, the crowds can get rowdy. But that's the fun of going to shows if you like that kinda music. read more

I love Neumos! Such a fun place to see a band. We were there on Halloween to see Tacocat and assorted opening acts. I reserved a table when I ordered tickets, and appreciated that they had an assigned table waiting for us - clearly marked with my name. The staff were really nice and helpful, pointing out where to go, since it was our first time there. Since we had the table, we had a server, who checked in with each break between acts to see if we needed anything. Food is available until 10pm from the chicken place next door. I had the chicken tacos, which were pretty tasty. My partner was unfortunately not crazy for his chicken sandwich. The venue is on the small side, and the overall vibe is just very silly and fun. I'm looking forward to my next show here! read more

Last night was my first time to this venue and we had an amazing time at the concert! A great tip for anybody planning to visit this venue is to understand that this is not a five-star venue. The staff is very difficult to deal with. You're almost greeted with a sour hostile attitude that makes you want to turn away. But don't! Don't allow the staff to ruin your night! If we had we would've never gotten the experience that we did. I rate this venue two stars for the poor customer service, run down appearance, low quality drinks, and disorganized ticket sale and distribution systems. The one attribute that saves this place is the fact that they allow great artists to come to the city without discrimination. Way to go Nuemos! read more

Neumos is a great venue for smaller shows. The setting is intimate and you can get really close to the bands on stage if you want to. There is also an upstairs area, which was where people under 21 years of age were subjected to at one concert I went to. I had never seen a venue do that before, but I guess that's one way to keep the kids from the bar. It just kind of stinks that they had to be farther from the stage. For a music venue in Seattle, Neumos is fairly clean and well maintained. No sticky floors or nasty bathrooms. I'd definitely come back to check out more shows. read more

Went here with some of my friends for Emo Nite and one of the bartenders was rude to every single one of us for the entire night, the other 3 bartenders were really kind but the one guy was so dismissive to us, rolled his eyes at every drink order we made & insinuated we were stupid when we couldn't hear him over the loud music. Cool venue in hipster central. The staff is pretty laid back and cool, the venue isn't huge but it makes for nice and intimate settings. The history of the neighborhood and the surrounding buildings keeps the venue feeling like a grungy punk club pre-90s. Parking is abysmal (if you are dumb enough to drive here) so take the rails, the bus, the uber.. and then there are plenty of places to get drunk afterwards. Bonus.. This is a great little venue for concerts. I especially like that it's within 5 minutes of my apartment. What a luxury it is to have a venue so close to home that you can just walk there and not worry about driving or parking. The bar is great too. Drinks are cheap and strong and you can order your drink and stay upstairs and watch the shows or get a drink downstairs at the other bar. Handy! The size of the venue is good too.. they attract a lot of great bands but it's no so large that you'll ever be in a spot where you can't see or hear the music. Perfect! read more

Went for their Halloween themed Guilty Pleasures party. The event required tickets (which thankfully they took at the door! And you could pay with card). Thankfully we got there a bit early so the line was short. Inside is a good sized dance floor with a stage at the far end. There are 2 bars downstairs (1 for beer, the other is a full bar). (Shhh- there's another bar and small dance area upstairs...keep it under ur hat or the line upstairs will match the line downstairs). The DJs were awesome, playing throwback 80s/90s/00s jams. Kept the whole room dancing all night. Will definitely be back to check out the regular Guilty Pleasures event read more

I don't like clubbing. The music is too loud and people are weird. But I genuinely enjoyed my time in Neumos for the "Thank You, Next" dance party. Music is not too loud. I've been only been once. It's for a concert to see my favorite YouTube stars. It's not so big so it doesn't get too packed. The concert experience was pretty intimate. Good lighting and sounds. They also have two bars. They have one on the first level and one at the balcony or mezzanine part. It is a corner building so it is not hard to find. It is in Capitol Hill so parking will be street parking or a nearby parking garage. The price is not too bad for Seattle parking. But it's ideal to park in the garage as it is normally a one flat fee with no time limit if you will stay long. The street parking has a 2 hours max. After 7pm the 2 hour max is lifted. read more

Everything about this venue is disappointing. I have put up with a lot to see good shows and have a high threshold for crowds and inconveniences. Space is very limited, flow is terrible to the point that it actually feels unsafe to join the crowd, restroom system is a mess, 50% of the staff is rude or confusing in regards to crowd control, scanning tickets and ID'ing is super spotty, sound isn't great. I would only go if I really really wanted to see the band and they weren't playing in BC. read more

I went here for Decibel Festival's Dirty Dancing NYE party w/ the legendary John Tejada and Alex Smoke! Perfect location. Loved the vibe! Solid size for a dance floor... Interesting visuals too! Rockin' sound system... no echoes bouncing around! Cheap drinks! They actually give you a bottled beer... not like other music venues! I hate drinking beer from a plastic cup! Also, I came here pretty late straight from work... I thought I was going to be in line for the countdown considering it's NYE... not the case! Got in really quick and drama free! Neumos is a great place to see a show. It's easy to avoid online service charges by buying tickets at at The Runaway (bar adjacent to the club), which is open from 4pm to 2am everyday and only charges two dollars for printing the ticket. There are countless good restaurants and bars in the area if you want to have something to eat or drink before the show. The band schedules are posted on the entry door, so you can see exactly when your band is scheduled to go on stage. Every person on the staff whom I encountered was friendly--I haven't experienced that at any other venue I can remember. The mezzanine (second floor) has a fairly long railing from which you can watch the band without your line of sight being blocked by tall people. And they also have a few flat-screens up there if for some reason you wanted to sit down at a table. The sound is excellent. read more

If you are Black I urge you not to go into this venue. I went in there some time ago to see Mum. I went to the bar and there were three people standing there. Two women and one man with long dark hair. The man was about 5'6, 5'7 and one of the women was brunette. Nobody moved to take my order. They literally just stood there leaning against the liquor shelf and side-eyed me. Cross armed. After several seconds of them looking at me like I didn't belong, the man came and took my order. This is what it's like. Passive aggression and downright hostility because of the fact I happen to exist. The message those people were conveying was clear. I was not welcome. I've never posted about this until now but I've never forgotten it. I will reiterate: if you are Black in Seattle or you have friends that are Black that you care about, I urge you in the strongest terms I can manage in this review, do not support this venue. read more

concert i went to was good but the people running the place were way too strict. i understand them looking for everyone's safety but they ruined the vibe when i couldn't even have someone on my shoulders and when they constantly yelled at people to stop vaping during the show. they also got pissed at people who weren't even vaping and tried to kick them out. fun experience only because of the concert but they gotta let people have fun. read more

Review 3-0-0! This is also my 100th Seattle review. Thanks to Katy H. for hooking me up with a free ticket to the Little Boots last night at Neumos. This was my first (official) time here. I once tried getting a ticket for a The Kills show, but they apparently had sold out when I got there. The venue is kind of dark when you go through the entrance. However once I entered the venue, I was thoroughly impressed. It is not like Chop Suey with its oddish space or The Showbox with its bathroom facilities on the sides of the stage making for some unnecessary moving around. I like that the stage is right in front with no obstructions here. Plus there is a balcony for a clearer view of the stage. Parking was a big pain. Tons of people on a Saturday night means little street parking. Drove all over Capitol Hill to find one, but ended up parking at Pacific Place. Just not worth the trouble. The show itself had some highs and lows. I timed it pretty well because I caught the two acts that I wanted to see. Dragonette came on a few minutes after I entered. They played a nice show, though I wonder if it is because of the singer or if it is the venue's sound, but when I go an electropop with a female voice it comes out sounding so pixie like. Little Boots was good too. Liked hearing the songs I was familiar with her live. Though not pleased with the long wait between sets. 45 minutes is a long time. There was some other criticisms that I had with the venue, but I guess this just has more to do with my preference for theatre venues like The Moore and Paramount Theatre. Things like short people having to stand in back of Paul Bunyan sized people who decide to move into the space in front of them. What the deuce is with that? Or space hogging oblivious dancers who impede your personal bubble. Add people with alcoholic drinks to these peeves and you can understand my frustration with people being inconsiderate. I know it is about positioning with venues like this, but I am kind of irritated by Seattleite concert etiquette. Rant aside I had a good time here. Neumos is a nice space to watch live music. Just would like some more self-awareness from concertgoers. read more

I was here for the Capitol Hill Block Party and saw 10 bands over 3 days. The highlights were The Lumerians and F**cked Up. It was VERY hot and standing by the giant fans was helpful. The upstairs provided a unique view but there were sound problems and the bass sounded too loud and blown out upstairs. The right corner of the stage was the best spot. Overall I think that they let too many people in and it was sometimes unsafe but that's rocknroll! read more

Neumo's is a great music venue in the heart of Capitol Hill. I went to a 21+ event so the entire space was open. I thoroughly appreciated the upstairs section that had lots of seating and its own bar. There is also a railing that gives good views of the stage. If you want to be down in all the action or more chill upstairs, you have access to both options. The sound system is good and it never feels like you're packed to the brim in there. The drinks are pricy but Capitol Hill priced ($9 for wells) read more

I just got home from a concert at Neumos. I will probably not go there again. It's a terrible venue for concerts. To begin with, there is no seating for the audience. Everyone is expected to stand, on a concrete floor, for 3+ hours. There are some chairs and tables upstairs in the "mezzanine", but you can't see the stage from most of them (and the few that do are from an extreme side angle). The sound system looks good, but we were sitting behind it (in the "mezzanine", so could only hear the onstage mix). We could also hear booming bass and drums emanating through the walls from the club next door, clashing with the musicians we were trying to listen to at Neumos. I've been to so many venues that are better designed to enable an audience to enjoy a performance. read more

I went to a show here on Wednesday and the concert start time was changed from 7pm to 8pm. We waited out in the cold for an extra hour. 4 days later, I went to another show here and it happened again. A long line of people including myself stood out in the cold for an hour. This venue needs to be more clear on what time their concerts start. It is really inconvenient to people especially l those with disabilities. I tried calling them as well and their phone number is disconnected. I won't attend any more concerts here. read more

As a testament to the colossal power and reach of Yelp, all of my experiences at Neumo's have been intertwined with its icy yet loving embrace, making this a fitting centennial for our whirlwind relationship. I did not come here willingly. After having lived in Seattle for over 3 years, my first visits were for indie rock shows my ex wanted to see. Great reasonably intimate venue for show (especially when the dividers keeping the drinking crowd away from the front of the stage are present) but hell is it loud in there. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me... for not bringing earplugs, seriously. The last visit was my inaugural solo Yelp event, when we headed over for the Stranger's Valentine's Day Bash, a reclaiming celebration of broken hearts and shattered dreams. For this visit, the main floor was pretty much completely full as well as the seating and standing room in the upstairs area, and the venue worked equally well when audience participation was required and the event was not secretly sponsored by the hearing aid industry. Hedging disclosure: I may or may not have had Dan Savage destroy a slow cooker on my behalf with a sledgehammer to the delight of the audience, which may or may not have influenced my experience of the entire night and biased this review. There may or may not have been witnesses who took pictures and video to prove it, and I may or may not have had my infamy cemented by having been approached by at least one person not present referring to me as "the crock pot guy." The lesson here is that like glass shrapnel from a cookware lid, even if you don't look for it, Neumo's will find its way into your life, so better it be on your terms; check out the convenient schedule at neumos.com and go see a show. read more

Back in High School, we had this little room located behind the gym where the wrestling team would practice, the gym teachers would do the climbing rope test, and the drama team would rehearse if the auditorum was already taken. If you take that, throw some plywood loosely on the wall, stack some random crates next to the stage, and add a shitty bar in the corner, then you've got Neumo's. The layout is really what drives me nuts. The balcony is to the side of the stage, and only has two rows (neither of which have seats), and is interrupted by a giant and totally unncessary speaker hanging from the ceiling. So, chances are you won't be able to see anything, or develop a neck kink so bad you'll wish you had just stayed on the floor moshing with the sweaty 18 year olds. Speaking of that, here's a tip for all you youngsters - slipping a $10 to the bouncer gets you upstairs to the bar no problem, drink overprices drinks while you try and hang with the 21+ crowd, and leave a nice pile of puke for everyone to slip on as they exit. If anyone representing Buckethead, Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Cops, Daylight Basement, and the Suicide Girls is reading this, PLEASE DON'T COME BACK HERE for your next show in Seattle. I hate Neumo's more every time, and if they're still charging $4 for a bottle of Miller High Life and then glare at me when I don't tip, my crystal ball predicts that I just might snap. read more

Nuemos huh? Oh I get it, like NEW MOE'S. Because this used to be MOE, not MOE's. Clever... So I stopped in for The Stranger's Valentine's Day Bash, and by BASH I mean there was BASHING of things (literally) and people (figuratively). Yes, this is the event where you bring a relic from a a failed fling, marriage, affair - whatever, and relationship/sex guru/editor in chief of The Stranger, Dan Savage will listen to your sad story and then summarily destroy your item. Ways an item can be destroyed can be, but are not limited to, the following: Chainsaw Sledgehammer Blowtorch Urinal Shredder Archer (yes, there was an archer on hand to drive an arrow through the eye of your cheating lover's photo if you so desired) Tar and Feathering You get the idea. The event is a parade of the bitter, the shit on, the lied to, the humiliated, violated and betrayed. As I watched, I found myself feeling very lucky, mostly because my marriage ended so tidily (it wasn't perfect but it could have been so much worse) and that I am not under the delusion that being in a conventional, romantic, relationship is a requirement for being happy and fulfilled. I'm not totally jaded; being in love is amazing, having a partner to share your life with, someone who always has your back, who you can trust implicitly...sounds nice. The idea of never finding it sounds sort of like a death sentence, but so does sitting in a prison of my own making with someone I'm not meant to be with. So. Yeah. Anyway. Staying out of situations that might land me on that stage seems prudent. Or cowardly. Whatever. Overall the event was entertaining - sometimes sad and then once, inspired: Panda and Alan met drunk in a bar one night and found themselves on a whirlwind road trip together a few short days later. Oddly enough, their love affair didn't last. Panda felt used for her van, Alan felt used for his mechanic's skills and it all went to shit. But Panda and Alan came to Dan's little anti- V-Day event and brought EACH OTHER. That's right, Alan was tar and feathered and Panda got a cake in the face. They both told their stories and everyone in the audience got to see both sides; how they were both right and both wrong and how they had very, very, different experiences with the relationship - in and out. Seems like those two people communicated with each other a little bit (once the engine smoke had cleared and emotions had smoldered a bit) about how they felt about their relationship and each other (regardless of how insignificant and silly it may have been to begin with) and provided each other with some closure and opportunity to grow from the experience. Yay for you Panda and Alan - it was nice to take something away from this event, other than a snicker at some poor rug wearing schlep's bad luck with his speed freak, stripper girlfriend. read more
